- Thanks for checking out our Korn reaction. Blind is a song that was surprisingly... It has a very interesting sound and the lyricism was just as thought provoking.

They pulled it off because they created this sound. They pioneered the whole Nu Metal genre really. All the bands back in the 90s and going into the 2000’s where just following their lead. Korn are the true OG’s of Nu Metal.
yeh I would go with this kind of, although I would say it was more about Ross Robinson than Korn, listen to the Korn demo's pre getting signed, nothing like that nu metal sound, if anything was more like a Pantera style production and there was 0 hip hop in it. Also they used to be a band called LAPD pre Davies and they were just a lame RHCP wanna be band nothing of Nu metal in that. But they certainly ran with the Ross Robinson sound.
The sound was already around before Korn...... if any band pioneered what would become nu metal the credit imo would have to go to the Max and Igor era of Sepultura specifically the album Roots. Chaos A.D. is what set it off and Roots was their full jump into that sound.
@@aikenstodd You serious? This song is off their self titled album from 1994. It was produced by Ross Robinson. Ross also produced Roots for Sepultura but it wasn’t released until 1996. Jonathan Davis is on record talking about how he wasn’t happy that Ross basically gave Sepultura Korn’s signature sound. Think about it, Sepultura never tuned down like that before roots and everything before Roots was more “rooted” in thrash metal. Please excuse the pun lol. And another fun fact, Jonathan Davis did guest vocals on Roots for the song Lookaway.
@@jacksmith4460 I agree Ross helped refine their sound but they had already released the Neidermeyer’s Mind demo before they worked with him and it very much sounded like Korn. He definitely cleaned their sound up but they already had their sound.
@@mikeallen6828 tuned down guitars was nothing new to the genre that Sepultura was apart of "check out Entombed Left Hand Path"........ as far as song structure, lack of leads, grooves was all Sepultura on Chaos AD. Not to mention I've seen interviews whearas Johnathon himself said Sepultura was a huge inspiration....... Chaos AD dropped in 92.....
Korn has gotten lots of kids through the darkest times in their lives. This song sounds really good turned up in my car. I’m a big Korn fan!
I can't like this enough.
I was definitely one of those kids, and still as an adult
Yep! A lot of abused kids/teens
🙋♀️
And really Jon Davis isn’t given credit for baring his soul on the time on his own sexual abuse.
Literally did it on an album
Seriously though, Korn IS my youth!
And made other " regular" kids like me (with no problems, family issues, etc at all) can have empathy for those kids and ppl who got " darkest" time !!
One of the best intros to an album ever, debut album no less
That "are you ready" at the start always goes off in a pit
I bet it does! 😂
Yup started a pit at my first koRn concert to this in 99 I was 17

The hype and intro on this song is INTENSE live. Watch their Woodstock performance to see 200,000 people mosh to this song.
Other bangers by Korn are Children of the Korn featuring Ice Cube, Somebody Someone and Freak on a Leash.
They aready did the live Woodstock one. They should have listened to the original first, the live version would have been a bit easier to grasp.
Breathe by Ministry is like that. You fall into it. Amazing bands
Yes the woodstock performance is the first thing that comes to mind every time I think about this song. It was so iconic and is a must see.
@@stirl I caught that on the live stream too. Not sure why the didn't put that one out.
Miss the 90s early 2000s
Korn's sound centers around using dissonance, meaning harsh and unsettling tones and note combinations to achieve that dark and intense sound. They created this sound entirely.
Created? Sabbath was making eerie sounding music 25 years before this, let's be realistic friend.
@@cdm46290 this comment is talking about the methods used to achieve the eerie sounding music style they are known for and responsible for creating , not that they are the creators of eerie sounding music.....
@@cdm46290 Sabbath for the most part was just a heavy blues band. In terms of guitar playing they have nothing in common with Korn
Meth Metal!!
Especially on their first and second albums (unironically their 2 best albums)
Y’all should go through this whole album. The intro to Clown is still one of the funniest song intros ever. Someone in my band quotes that beginning just about every time we are working on writing songs.
Clown was one of the anthems of my high school years.
Clown should be the next korn reaction most definitely
First song I heard was Clown in 94 right before the album released
Look at the cover girl is in swing but shadow looks like she's being hung
@@jamesdavisjr6937 clown is sic!
You shouldn't feel bad about liking a song that opens your mind to other aspects of life even if it's a dark topic it is still enlightening
what’s this song about ?
@UCRh6mmOtG_f4fQRJUHsrzRA i know the lyrics i’m talking about the deeper meaning 💀
Truth!!
@@Ihatescales.mp4 being blind to the affects of drugs specifically. They wrote the song on drugs ironically. Head explains it in his first book
Well said and Nuffsaid. 😎🐊🌴🌞
Brad's been digging everything lately, the walls are coming down.
now he has to be able to enjoy it too
All the reaction channels that been reacting to these songs for the past couple of years and you really think they never heard any of this. 😂😂 Gtfoh 🤣🤣🤣. 90s new York subway gothic vibes 😭😭
Yeppers!!!
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head I'm originally a hip hop head.... I started listening to rock and metal in the late 80s to early 90s. What I'm saying is ... I started watching these reaction channels with nolifeshaq. You think these reaction channels don't watch one another to see what video gets the most views your naive . 😂
@@MrGrifter123 you don't have to actually watch the videos to see the numbers and titles lol. I have two reaction channels and yes I look to see what top videos are but i don't watch them lol
"It's just this monster riff, and lyrically it's about me feeling that I'm blind to people taking advantage of me, blind to my depression, just blind to everything." - Jonathan Davis
No cap this is one of the best metal intro's ever, that is an intro to announce an entire genre...and it did
Laughs in Black Sabbath
I just love Lex's facial expressions. She is so genuine
Yeah, but she's down with pretty much everything lol
Loved seeing Brad "boppin" to this one. Note to Brad, it's perfectly fine to jam out to a song, even if the subject matter may be serious.
Thanks, that's good to know lol
Blind should have been your introduction to Korn not Daddy. Give Shoots and Ladders, Got the life, Twisted transitor, Coming undone, Freak on a leash, and more. Even their covers of the Wall and Cameo's Word up
those are all good songs but more of their radio friendly songs, they should listen to heavier korn first IMO
@@campar1043 I feel you should start with the radio friendly then work your way up. I didn't like bands until I heard more radio friendly songs. Now I like the not so radio freindly songs.
@@metalloadedbakedpotato4382 was the opposite for me, those are my least favourite songs
@@campar1043 It's all cool.
For him, start radio friendly, for her start with the harder songs. Different people react differently
I think what makes this song so memorable is the atmosphere, like how the very first lyric is *"ARE YOU READY?!"* this is the very first song of Korn's very first album, it's telling you right away that shit's bouta go down. And then going from super quiet in it to super loud, like Korn does, makes it punchier.
MORE EARLY KORN GUYS!! They have such a unique sound and a lot of bangers off their first 3 -4 albums
the stack of albums I have of theirs
I have every album of theirs, and I could easily listen to any of them start to finish and enjoy it.
Thought I'd share my Korn experience. Back in 94, my two guitarists said we're going to see this new band, you have to come. I had never heard of them. In the car on the way, we listened to the CD and their sound (and ultra low tuning....you could actually hear the bass strings flopping around) is what grabbed my attention. We got to the club (the Limelight in NYC) and you enter and go up to the second floor to pay before being let into the second floor bar. We get there and hear the ride cymbal for the beginning of this song and run for the main room. There's a cat walk that surrounds this club as it's an old church and we take the stairs down to the floor. It's packed so we're stacked up the stairs with my two guitarists in front of me on the first two steps and our singer behind me. It gets to the part and Jonathan Davis growls out "Are you ready?" and we get shoved down the stairs. The guitarist in front had no where to go so he grabs the two shoulders of the guys in front of him and hoists himself into the pit. Needless to say, I went out and bought the CD and listened to it for most of my college days. (in the 90's on the NYC subway so Lex ain't wrong there....except I wasn't a goth...) Nice reaction guys, keep em comin!
I always thought it was, "I CAN see, I CAN see I'm going blind." I love this song! 💗
Don't worry, you've always been singing it correctly, it is "I CAN see", it's the lyric video that's wrong - Blind, one of Korn's finest tracks!
it totally is I CAN see, as Deep Cut says, totally loses its poetry if its CAN'T, also the syllables are wrong, the T at the end just sounds clunky if you say it along with the tune or in your head
You’re right. It is.
@Deep Cut Reactions I know right? lol "Oh, the song is called Blind, surely these lyrics must be I can't see..." Der-doy 🤪 ha
Korn, a great band with a harsh story. They invented something new when they came out, huge fan.
Guys you can't just do this one without watching blind live in woodstock 1999
Its a *must* !
Lex: I’m thinking 90’s, NY subway, gothic vibe
Brad: I dont know about all that
😭😭😭
Early 90s south cali goth vibe
Lol, more Bakersfield than NYC but Lex has the most interesting takes sometimes.
I cracked tf up brad kills me
they pulled it off because they created this sound. they started a whole genre. droptune pioneers
My very first concert was the Family Values ‘98 tour.
I was such a math genius think that the shortest point between two point was a straight line, so I went THROUGH Baltimore instead of around it to get to Pittsburgh.
We missed Orgy, caught most of Limp Bizcuit, saw all of Rammstein, and banged hard to Korn.
I’ve seen em about twice more times since. They are phenomenal live, and I have sprained my back a couple times from head banging through there set. 😂 Too old to do that shot now, though.
Nostalgia 💜 same here.
When I came to America in 97, the metal kids were all wearing braids and large jeans and shirts, I was like what is going on? I later learned this was Korn's style. They entered my life before their music did.
This album! EVERY TIME I hear the beginning of this album I get chills. I remember exactly where I was when I heard this. The whole album is bad ass. Yep. Love this. You need to watch Korn Live at Woodstock.
12 years old in the room of my dads best childhood friends kid who was my age but we had never met. He and his friends had this album and played it for me and everything changed from there.
Korn, in the AM love it!
Honestly I think this song and the intro in particular is possibly the greatest "first track" on a debut album. Absolutely immense.
Many of my favorite bands I cant remember my first listen. KORN is one of the few where its still clear in my mind, the first time I heard them, who I hang out with and where I was
This song, album, and band were so inspirational and relatable to teenage musicians and garage bands in the late 90’s/2000’s. I’m thankful for it and what we got from it. And the JNCO jeans.
clown next! korn is amazing
😆
That album is 1 of the greatest albums of the 90s, imho.
one of their BEST songs! Check out "Here to Stay" too!
JD is a vocal Beast in his own way. What I like the most about him is you really can feel the emotions. Even if Not understanding the lyrics, you still feel despair, anger, etc through his voice
Just saw Korn perform this live a couple of weeks ago, it was freaking awesome!!
Same here
@@juanluna246 nice! I saw them at Jiffy Lube Live in Virginia, which show did you hit?
@@BenT_bbx i went to Ameris amphitheater in Alpharetta, Georgia . Awesome performance from stains and korn
The lyrics at the end are actually " I CAN see I'm going blind". Not "I can't see". Meaning that he is aware of the problem he has. "I can see I'm going blind" is intentionally worded that way to make you think, How can you see if you're going blind?
Timeless masterpiece! Heared it on MTVs Headbangersball around 94 and been a fan instantly and followed them since then!!
Do A** Itch from Korn next! It is not one most people would request for reaction but is definitely their most frenetic one. Love you guys!
Bakersfield, oil pump, meth shanty, wild dogs, 120 degrees on the worst summer months sound.
God I wish I could go back to when this came out. Such a fantastic time for music. Tool, Pantera, Korn, Type O, Deftones, Rage, Helmet, White Zombie, Alice in Chains, the death of hair bands… it was fantastic
Keep the Korn reactions coming!! They are amazing musicians and their music hits heavy and has zero bullshit lyrics every time.
They're first Hit, a straight up Banger, anything but Lowkey. 🔥🔥
Lmao!!! Brad, you’re the best. “I don’t know about all that… “ Hahaha!!
Me and my best friends saw these guys back in ‘93 at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. They weren’t even on the map yet. They opened the show for Biohazard & House of Pain!! It was pretty awesome. We’d never heard anyone sing like that before. About a year later they became huge!!!
One of the best concert/album intro songs of all time!
Always gonna be my favorite Korn album.
FINALLY! Now, watch the 99 Woodstock version of this and experience how they were the ABSOLUTE top of the music world at that time
This is the song that made me a KoRn fan, I heard it in Austin, Texas at a record store and asked the owner WTF was that?? That opening riff that teased you is what grabbed my attention. Then when Jonathan came in with the vocal this was the changing of the guard for me in rock music...
This girl right here is special and he should thank is lucky stars lol, he is very lucky to have her by his side, love you guys.
Korn got the funk for those that need a groove and goes hard for those who need that energy. They are a mount Rushmore metal band. They inspired so many bands.
Korn is all about the switch ups in their songs! It’s part of why I love them so much!!
You love the singer’s voice….check his scatting in “Twist”. It’s only a 50-second song but entertaining. Lex will be shook I’m sure!
His scatting in "BBK" is cool too.
@danieljaimes6577 yes, I love that performance! So good!
This album changed a Lot when it came out. I knew someone close to the band and heard the album before it was popular and then it was playing between bands at Lollapalooza '94 and more people got into them but when they dropped "Blind" it was over. Listen to "Daddy". They tune down the bass and it adds to the punch of the slap on the low end. Jonathan used to cover 'Black Sheep' and 'Slick Rick' live so he definitely has an old school hip-hop background.
7th grade. First Korn song I ever heard. Hooked for LIFE.
First song i heard i was in the 10th grade in my buddies parents pool room. He's like listen to this shit, you never heard anything like this. He somehow got a demo tape visiting his older brother in Sacramento. It was just a few songs, but this song was the first one i heard, i was like wtf is this shit. Been a fan ever since.
Brad nails it with the "it's such a tease". After sufficient teasing: "Are you ready?!" ... Jonathan Davis knows what he's doing.
When I caught Korn live the first time, I kept waiting for them to play this song. The whole set was finished, then the encore started and still no Blind. They played it as their very final song and omfg the crowd when absolutely ape-shit at the ARE YOU REAAAADYYYY breakdown!! I moshed so goddamn hard that when all was said and done my body crumpled to the floor and I couldn't get myself back up. Korn brings out the most primal of instincts with its music. It's ugly and beautiful at the same time.
Korn's little touches of 90s hip-hop make their whole sound unique. That's why you like it Brad, you don't even notice sometimes in the song but there is always a groove in the back that makes this more than just metal music
You gotta do the videos whenever possible, it just adds to the vibe, especially with these guys. Just blur them if you get copyright.
The Woodstock 99 live version of this is just EPIC! Great reaction.
A band that's been making hits like this for 25+ yrs! You've only jus scratched the surface with Korn!
KoRn's debut album is one of my all time favorite albums ever from start to finish out of every band I've ever listened to. I first bought it in '94. Every track on this album is outstanding.
I love to see Brads growth into getting into rock and metal. Lex has always been there but it makes me happy to see Brad fuck with it more now. Good stuff
Korn is always 🔥🔥
Love this one🤟🔥 Korn in concert was one of my favorites!!
I’ve seen them 15 times since 2007-they are the best!! ❤️
@@JulieAnn87Wow i would love to see them again! I got to see them open for Rob Zombie, was the best mix of both worlds lol🤟🔥
Nothing like seeing them in concert and the whole audience screams, "ARE YOU READY!!?"
that bass tone is so heavy and funky such a good sound from huntington beach california for 1993
This blared out of every car speaker on base for a year when I was a young army grunt..😂 Love this jam. Y'all can't go wrong with this whole album.
That entire album (Korn 1994) is great!
Thanks for reacting to this! 👍
Hed pe!! They came out in 93 & still cranking out music today, they also opened for Korn on Korn's 1st major tour. Hed pe is metal, punk music infused with hip hop & sometimes reggae. Songs I suggest are Suffa, Renegade, Ground, Killing Time, Here and Now, Bartender or Blackout. Thx & keep the great reactions coming👊🤟
This song and KoRN were pivotal for me getting through my teen years. Growing up in a farming community dressed in goth attire made me feel very cast aside. Korn was a bunch of weird guys like myself and it really just helped me embrace my unique personality. I went from being a quite weird kid to one who was much more open.
Korn h as s always been one of my favorite bands and it's not because they are from my home town.
I love the down tuned instruments, and rawness of their music especially the early stuff.
I was 14 years old when this came out. Buddy brought over the cd. Listened to track 1 "blind". I remember screaming after " are you ready!" YES I AM!
For years Korn would open their show with this song. When you heard "Are You Ready" ? You knew it was time to go crazy.
I think I could go as far as to say this single song probably shaped the majority of my musical taste for my life. This one was the game changer that shifted everything. The gateway drug to sincerely amazing hard rock/metal.
Finally, a good Korn song.
My first introduction to nu-metal one of my favorite Korn songs!
KoRn always had good rhythm too their beats. They feel very hiphop. So you can groove and dance to it. But still hard AF at the same time. Very interesting vibe. Love em'
Here to stay...KoRn has been my favorite band for 27yrs now. Beat live show you'll ever see! Love y'all!
Now watch the live '99 version and Listen To The Croud in the beginning of the song when he points the mic at them...💥
I think they have started every concert I have been to with this song. Not sure if its all but I have seen them like 5 times now. ALWAYS sets the show off right
90s...Bakersfield California...me and my friends at their concert at the Fox Theater before they made it big (they're from my hometown). It was great, and this is one of my favorite songs from them. Super-glad that you guys liked it. It's one of my favorite intros to a song...great outro, too.
Love playing the drums on this song.
I’m SO glad you liked this Korn song. I’m a big fan and it’s still my favorite Korn song after all these years 🤘
I got shot in a drive-by, and that is what made me blind. This song came out around the same time. This used to be my anthem. LMFAO!
You guys should definitely react to the live version. Korn blind live at Woodstock.
We were NOT ready!!! The hip hop vibes in rock started here. They are the first
They're such a sick band, I hope I can see them again live at some point. I'd recommend "Twisted Transistor" or "Here To Stay" or "Falling Away From Me" from here. Great video
6:20 Korn have said in old interviews that they stole their sound from Cypress Hill :D
Best intro to any song on this album is the song "predictable"..
Korn were the pioneers of nu-metal
Korn brought forth the birth of New Metal and ran with it for years. Many tried to match them but none ever did.
OH fuck yes..they came back to korn?! Please do more. Other dope songs by them off the top of my head: "it's on", "reclaim my place", "BBK", "ADIDAS", "Got the life" and "Twisted Transistor".
It was in 95 we was at a friends house. His older brother came home from a concert that was headlined by Danzig that featuring marylin Manson and Korn. He had bought a cassette tape and was like u guys gotta check this out. He put it in and a Blind came on! It was like the world came down. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing!! And like that Nu-Metal was created!!
Ok, I’m gonna say it, I’ve just discovered you guys. Got the day off tomorrow so I ate some really good brownies and smoked a fat cone and decided to surf RUclips. I am now 2 1/2 hours in and you guys are great. Love your take on this kind of music. It got me through some crazy times being able to just go crazy through the music instead of for real
~* gurllll love u...when he ripped that 1st gee tar..that smile ...priceless..❣❣
This was my song back when it came out. Been a fan every since. Saw them live last Sunday at Pine Knob in Michigan and they kicked ass!!!
First time I ever saw Korn live they opened with this. Can you imagine that? Standing in that crowd, all hyped up, hearing that restrained percussive opening, the occasional interjection of a jagged guitar and that funky ass bass. The whole crowd is electric with anticipation because we know where this is going and we know what's to be asked of us. Then it builds and builds before Jonathan screams "AAAAAREEEE YOOOOUUUU REEEADDYYYY?!" and then the whole crowd loses our shit.
Absolutely immense!
Blind to the strength within because you're unnaturally overwhelmed so you pick apart your own self and perceived weaknesses. Smile, laugh, and mosh it out!💜
It may have been two years since you did this reaction, but it was wonderful. Brilliant to see others discover songs which were part of my life over 20 years ago. Subbed! Keep it going guys.
I absolutely love their song Evolution, I'm obsessed with his vocals in that song
Korn - Make me Bad
Korn - Right Now
Korn - Here to Stay
The original drummer always brought that hip-hop beat to the group.
Watching ya'll react to one of my all time fav songs just made my day. THANK YOU!
My first concert was Korn before they became famous in a little bar in Melbourne FL. i was in 6th grade and the bar was called the power station. the ticket cost me 6 bucks. i been a Fan ever since!
One of the few bands that I can listen to any song at any time. Get in your face Nu Metal and they don't care that it's in your face.
The intro is like going up a rollercoaster.. and aree you readyyyyyy is going down
