  • Hello and welcome. Today we take a second look at the ‪@HecklerKochTV‬ VP9-L Optics Ready. This is H&K's striker-fired polymer competition pistol and I liked it very much. When you host a gun channel, from time to time you sell guns to acquire guns for new videos. I missed owning this VP9-L so when this became available through ‪@zrtacticalsolutions‬ - I jumped on it.
    What are your thoughts on the offering by ‪@HecklerKochTV‬ ? As always, I look forward to your comments.
    Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

    Nice review as always. The first thing I noticed was the trigger. When I got my VP9, there was no "L" version. The long slide was sold separately, unfortunately, with no optic cut. Does have a nice set of rear adjustable sights. I bought the slide and 20 round magazines.

    That trigger looks fantastic, as does everything else that HK has included on this pistol. I agree the magwell needs a re-think, but overall it looks like another winning package. Enjoy it! 👍👍

    Love my VP9 SK also.
    My someday next will be the VP9 match which is .5" longer barrel, 4 (Four! ✌️✌️) 20 round magazines currently at 1,029. at my favorite online dealer. I love long 6" barrels like my G40, G17L, and USP 45 Elite

    Thanks for video on the VP9L. You mentioned the PDP and the Canik Rival, and S&W steel. I have not had any time with the S&W yet but my opinion on the best stock out of the box trigger would be Canik Rival or S, the PDP a close second, and the VP9L third. The VP9L on the slightly longer reset tends to throw you past the wall a bit to get back on resulting in slower follow up shots. -at least for me. Ergos for me would go to the PDP followed by the VP9L, then the Caniks. All are great comparable options and tack drivers. Appreciate your videos!

    I have the VP9L stock with an SRO on top. I love mine! I would say it's better feeling than the Cantik. In my opinion it shoots a little better than the PDP but they are very close!

    I’m still trying to figure out the benefit of a long slide when using an optic. The extra site radius isn’t necessary and it’s for competition so the extra velocity isn’t necessary for “stopping power”. The other thing the long slide does is more weight out front which helps follow up shots, but is also slower in transition. On the other hand, in my opinion, long slides are sleeker and sexier.

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  Год назад

      I understand your premise that being a competition pistol the extra velocity for stopping power is not necessary. However, there are a lot of people out there, myself included, that use it for self-defense in which case velocity is important. But I understand your point. Thank you very much for watching.

    thanks for the review but I will stick with my vp9 match and the 5.51 inch barrel.for a magwell to work good the grip needs to be a bit longer so it's not smashing your middle finger into the trigger housing.the walther steel frame pro ppq is a good magwell.

    I'd love to see this one at the range. I'd like to know if the casings hit the rds.
    Your video description is well done. If you know parts companies that made the trigger, sights, rds etc., always add those too. The trigger looks nice but that magwell...does it deserve the name at all? At 12:16 it looks like an afterthought since the inner edge of the polymer frame still exposed to the metal mags, the front edge...does it at least prevent over-insertion of the extended mags?
    I'll remember not to buy anything from tyrant. It could be that they had to act fast to have anything to slam on it, but still not excusable.
    The 'metal' series from S&W is a waste of money. Very similar weight but higher price (aluminum frame). It's just made for those that won't carry a polymer pistol but neither want the weight of a steel frame. The M&P's aren't very common over here and it took some time to try some. The trigger on the first one was better than the 2.0.
    I like the Caniks a lot. Made a good base copy and made it better + listening to customers needs.
    I'd love to see you test a Langdon px4 storm.

    The one that’s out now has the holosun scs red dot, with standard height sites. Now why wouldn’t they install suppressor sites. It’s a great firearm but it’s a big no for me if I can’t co witness. Plus the rear site is useless with the optic on there.

      I’ve had optics mounted on both my HK VP9 and my HK VP9SK since they became available with optics cuts. Zero problems. This is my third HK with an optic mounted on it and again zero problems. What I’m interested in learning is why you say they’re trash and why do you say they are an afterthought.

    • @kentoncarter5613
      @kentoncarter5613 11 месяцев назад

      @@MDpolo The gun world is going through a transition where 20” pistols and optics are on every pistol. It’s no way HK designed the gun with optics in mind they just cut out a chunk of the slide and sell the gun to whom ever is willing to settle.
      Look at the Sig xMacro, Eschelon, or Shadow Systems pistols. All of them have optic systems that go direct to slide and minimize the amount of moving parts. They also are designed so that longer screws don’t interfere with the plunger, extractor or any other part. Last if you have gaps between the slide and the optic the optic will work it’s way loose.
      You tell me you have never had to rezero your optic but I’m willing to bet if you EDC a VP9 and not baby it the optic will come loose. An analogy would be how some cars integrate tablets in the dash’s and others just stick a tablet on the dash to keep up.
