I have been a S&W guy and shooting for 40 yrs. I bought a HK VP 9 and I love it! Ergonomics are A+, and the trigger is awesome. My HK is super accurate!
@@TheArkansasGunGuyOklahoma City PD is switching to HK VP9 from SIG P320 due to recent safety and reliability issues P320 has had with multiple agencies. It’s not even going to be authorized as off duty. Oklahoma highway patrol is also forcing all the troopers to turn all the issued P320s in for new Glocks.
Thanks for the comparison. When I decided to get into personal defense pistols, the P320 and VP9 were top contenders in the options I was considering. I selected the VP9 over the P320 for 1) better trigger, 2) excellent ergonomic grip, 3) paddle mag release, 4) P320 reputation for firing while dropped & being inserted in holsters, 5) proven track record of reliability. I know item 5 will be contentious for some P320 owners, but I've seen too many reviews where the P320 will misfeed from time to time. Not a lot. But more than the VP9. I've never had a single malfunction out of my VP9, VP9SK, or P30. One observation that I've made on most all VP9 reviews, is they fail to mention that, for those that prefer the American style button magazine release, the VP9 is available in either button or paddle magazine release.
I went w the P320 first - and I’ve enjoyed it tremendous as a modular “toy” - constantly building new/ different versions. VP9 is the one I grab most often for all those reasons you mentioned. Maybe I’ll pick up a VP9SK one day!!
I've carried the 365XL since it came out. I was looking for a bigger, winter carry/bedside pistol, and I was going to get a 320. But I decided I'd rather not risk the pistol going off by itself, so I got a VP9. Months later, very happy I made that choice.
@@TheArkansasGunGuy 226 is great but still will require parts change at a higher interval vs USP. The extractor , springs etc will not last as long as the USP . Nothing else last longer than USP period .

Cmon, you gotta relax a bit with the HK. Is it high quality with durability? Well at $800+ bucks it damn well better be. Imo, for a polymer pistol, they’re just over-engineered.
Like you. I have a VP9 and a P320c with the LE trigger. Both are cool. I shoot both very well, maybe the grip and trigger are a hair better on the VP9. I got the tritium upgrade. Neither has failed me yet. Both upgraded models are pretty much good right out of the box. I don’t mod them crap out of my guns. I’d rather buy them good to go.
Thanks for the comparison, really digging the VP9 and think I may pick one up next. But you can't beat the Sig on modularity. The metal frame and wood grips are a real nice look and I bet it's a nice soft shooter with the extra weight. Both are real nice.

I’m just a fun fan boy. As long as it works, is reliable, and looks nice, I’m all in. They are both excellent pistols. The B variant of the VP9 is super nice. Two other guns that should be considered is the latest variant of the M&P2.0 and the Walther PDP which I honestly think is the best of the lot. The only down side of the VP9 is the trigger. I'm not talking the trigger pull which is great I'm talking the physical plastic trigger which will rub your finger raw after a bit of shooting. Also. the trigger guard is indented under the trigger for clearance purposes. The issue there is the angle of the trigger causes your finger to drop lower while firing and you find your trigger finger getting pinched between the trigger and indented area at the bottom of the trigger guard. the larger back straps exacerbate the problem.
Solid video, I am in Comifornia.😂 The vp9 is harder to source, let alone try. The p320 feels more modern than a P229. Still narrowing down the selection. Any recommendations?

The P320 does not allow you to change whatever you want to about it. The only thing one can do is change the frame size based on its “modularity”. It’s a faulty design, at best.
The modular option is just stupid. Really tell me who buys into it. The other frames slides and barrels cost as much as a new gun so what is the point? The VP9 is a better designed weapon as is the Walther line. And I'd take an M&P or Canik over the 320 because it is a blocky troubled gun with the ergonomics of a Ryobi cordless drill. I have both guns and dozens of others. The only issue I have with a VP9 the finger group is don't fit my fingers very well and I can't do anything about that. The finger grease on my combat masterpiece Smith and western fit great as you the finger cruise on most other guns. Even my subcompact mouse guns. All the two fingers go on them. That's fine. It's just those finger groups on that BP9 just don't want it very well with my hands and my hands aren't that big.
I had a Sig p320x full size for about 3.5 years i recently traded it for a Beretta 92x RDO Compact... Now i just picked up the P320 X10 in 10mm...i love the grip and the way p320's shoot!
In my opinion H&K not even a competition.. All the issues with the p320s going off by themselves. I wanna like em.. I actually liked em alot, had a cpl of em but was scared to appendix carry it.. I'll stick with my VP9.
I've owned both. The P320 I've had maybe half the time I've had my VP9 and I prefer the VP9 hands down. They're both great guns but the trigger and ergonomics of the VP9 are superior.
VP9 all the way. Nothing is more ergonomic in the hand in my opinion. It is just built better as well....look at the guide rails on the VP9 compared to the tiny ones on the Sig....which one gives you more confidence longevity wise? I also don't feel very comfortable that the entire firing control group on the P320 is held in to the frame entirely by just one pin. I understand they did that in order to make it modular per the US Army, however, Beretta followed the same requirements with their APX yet they came up with a much stronger and more secure solution. In all honesty - and this is just my opinion - but the P320 is vastly inferior to not only the VP9, but the Beretta APX as well. And yes, I have personal experience with all three of those guns. I enjoyed the video.
@@TheArkansasGunGuy The Honest Outlaw has a video comparing the APX and the M18 (P320). Although he has the Centurion model and not the full size APX, he was still able to shoot it faster and more accurately than the P320. I think you will also be surprised to find out that you can buy a new APX for right around 400 dollars. Incredible value.
I carry the 320 on duty. I am not a fan. The VP9 is just really a better gun. SIG has been pushing questionable designs after the 229. The metal SIGs? Awesome. The plastics? Not a fan at all.
I had the same question. I have a VP9 and a VP9SK. Both have three dot night sights. It would be nice, when making direct comparison of features to be more clear, that both guns can be had with similar sights. I have never fired the P320. But I love my VP9 pistols. Not sure what people mean when they say it is ugly. I think it looks fantastic.
just love my H&k vp9 , use it for competition shooting , works great. did add a recoil reduction spring , takes quite a bit of the snappiness out of it.
DMP recoil reduction system , it replaces the normal guide rod with a multiple spring system. over here almost every gunshop has them. ( the Netherlands)
@@johanbruinsma8243can confirm these things work. I have a DPM in my vp9 and the impulse is different. These things were made to run with comps so I added a Zev comp to mine and it's almost like shooting a 22
Id trust both of them, I owned an M18, but I kept two VP9's. The paddle release is the difference for me. I don't want the risk of dropping a mag in the most stressful moment of my life. I also have a couple P229 and Beretta 92. Very robust range toys. The VP9 or the P229 would be my last guns to never sell. The new metal frames for the p320 are really interesting me though
I own multiple HK pistols, I can't complain about their reliability or durability, but for the money the triggers on their SA/DA guns sure could be better. I do own and carry a VP9sk and do so with complete confidence.
Yeah, those hammer fired. HK’s are straight up combat pistols are basically the opposite of competition pistols. Usually the better of trigger feels a little less reliable. It is in the most reliable triggers are usually not the cleanest brakes are the best feeling triggers……. Kind of like how the smoothies driving cars are not very good at going off road and vice versa.
Last comment , if your not wanting either of these due to price , for the love of The Queen and the Continental Congress , before you buy a Glock , try a , or just buy a Steyr , most underrated poly striker pistol of all times , low bore axis , incredible price , yeah the Steyr is nasty .
Tengo una HK VP9 y es simplemente fantástica, ergonomía superior a cualquier otra, el disparador o gatillo es muy bueno, la precisión también es de un nivel superior y la calidad que obtienes es simplemente increíble
I like most guns. Some of them, like Glock, don't really appeal to me, simply because of ergonomics, but that's not meant to take anything away from their quality, effectiveness of the weapon, or even their fan base for that matter. With that said, as far as striker fired guns go, H&K is my favorite. I also like Walther very well, but overall, for me, my H&K VP9 is the best shooting pistol I have. Whichever weapon/brand you choose, just make sure it works for you, and pray that you never have to use it on another human. God bless.
I had H&K, Sig, Glock and XD, my vote go to XD, because XD has some safety features that the other 3 do not have: Loading chamber indicator, Slide rack indicator, Grip safety, Trigger safety. Tell me what pistol have all 4 safeties feature. And remember, it’s the Indian not the arrow. BTW, skip the first 4 minutes blah blah blah of this video. Guessing trigger weight, hmmm, because trigger gauge is couple thousand dollars ???? I bought the Wheeler trigger gauge less than 10 buck , 20 years ago and still using it now, today price is about 2O buck, please buy the trigger gauge and review the pistol with the measure trigger weight. Talking of modulization and did not talk how much for a new slide and frame is a …. I think i am a victim of pistol modulization, the whole pistol is $700, the new frame and new slide is $550 Heck, with $150 more I can have two pistols.
@cluckbent6466 perfect fix 4 that would be a s&w m&p 40 4 &1/4 " version with 13 round flush fitting round capacity. Or the Glock 23. Especially the gen 5 version considering the gen 5 is the only Glock .40 that was built around the caliber & not the other way around.
Vp9 is so much better than the P320. I have both, and they are great but my VP9 is the clear winner. So much better from a user standpoint. Better ergonomics, controls, and mag release. Slap a Parker Mountain Comp on it and holy crap is it good. I will say Walther PDP is my go to also with a PMM comp.
VP 9. It’s just pretty much perfect right out of the box. P320 is better to play /build different things out of. VP9 for sure. Thank you for watching!!
Idk. Sig is being sued over 320 design flaws. Reports of the firearm shooting on its own while holstered. Love my Walther PDP Pro. Wouldn't buy a 320 until an investigation is complete.
These reports are all operator error. I have carried this gun for 2 years and 1000s of hours. I have done all sorts of physical activities with its IWB. Has never gone off, and it never will.
I carry the P320 as X-Compact and use a Hidden Hybrid holster for it. Like it very much. I also sometimes carry the VP9 and I use a CrossBreed holster for that. Actually did a video on that recently. Also did one on Hidden Hybrid a while back. Will try to remember to post the links here. THANK YOU for watching!

I have an X10 on order!! Can’t wait to shoot it!!! Also - one day I would like to get a full size Beretta 92! Thank you for watching!!
@@TheArkansasGunGuy Ditto on the full size Beretta!
many companys make replacement grip modules from Plastic to Metal.
In my opinion H&K not even a competition.. All the issues with the p320s going off by themselves. I wanna like em.. I actually liked em alot, had a cpl of em but was scared to appendix carry it.. I'll stick with my VP9.
Sig 320: you’ll shoot your eye out kid!
I own the HK vp9sk, love that pistol
The ergonomics are just perfect I think!!! Thanks so much for watching!!
All very good points!! I’m going tot have to check out that APX - don’t know much about it at all!! THANK YOU so much for watching!!!
The Honest Outlaw channel listed the P320 one of the top 10 more unreliable pistols.
I saw that!!! he's definitely not a fan of the 320!!! Love his channel!! THANK YOU for watching mine also!!
I carry the 320 on duty. I am not a fan. The VP9 is just really a better gun. SIG has been pushing questionable designs after the 229. The metal SIGs? Awesome. The plastics? Not a fan at all.
@@bobr7380nailed it.
Which sight setup do you have on the VP9? Those aren’t the standard luminescent sights that come on the VP9.
Think mine is the “night sights” version - also came with 3 mags vs standard two. Would highly recommend if you can find one. THANK YOU for watching!!
@@burnetthopkins9583 agreed - the VP9 is a very good looking gun / don’t understand the haters at all. Thanks for the feedback and for watching !!!
@@burnetthopkins9583 VP9 is way better looking than a Glock. Glocks are hideous, and people go crazy for them.
just love my H&k vp9 , use it for competition shooting , works great. did add a recoil reduction spring , takes quite a bit of the snappiness out of it.
what kind of recoil spring/where did you buy it?
DMP recoil reduction system , it replaces the normal guide rod with a multiple spring system. over here almost every gunshop has them. ( the Netherlands)
@@johanbruinsma8243can confirm these things work. I have a DPM in my vp9 and the impulse is different. These things were made to run with comps so I added a Zev comp to mine and it's almost like shooting a 22
@@christ.5258 Thatsgood and interesting information. I have a VP 9 and will look into purchasing the DPM and Zev comp. Thank youChris and John.
BRAVOOOOOO... Sig. ❤❤
I own multiple HK pistols, I can't complain about their reliability or durability, but for the money the triggers on their SA/DA guns sure could be better. I do own and carry a VP9sk and do so with complete confidence.
I think that VP9 trigger is miles better than the P30 triggers (I also own both). THANk YOU for watching!!
I want a Steyr!!!! Never see them. Ever. Very good call out.
No VP9 ever fired from a muzzle drop or self discharged in anyone's holster.
True! Thanks so much for watching!
😂
Tengo una HK VP9 y es simplemente fantástica, ergonomía superior a cualquier otra, el disparador o gatillo es muy bueno, la precisión también es de un nivel superior y la calidad que obtienes es simplemente increíble
I got both and love both
My brother has the VP9. My buddy a 320. I'd take the VP9 over the P320 all day long. I like the modularity of the P320 though.
Hk but that Sig transformation at end 😮
I'm a vp9 fan. I like everything about it but the looks. Still not as ugly as a glock though.
I actually think the VP9 is a sweet looking gun. Def better looking than the glock!! (: THANKS for watching!!!!
Agreed. Hk's are awesome. The design? Not so much.
Vp9 for me. I bought 2.
SUPER HK. ❤❤
HyK vp 9 and .40 are the best hand gun
I like hammers but man the VP9 is hard to beat. Thanks for watching!
vp40 is as heavy as a glock 20 why not just get 10mm. 40 is attractive in 9mm size guns.
I’m not a HK fanboy, but I like it when my VP9 doesn’t fire spontaneously…
😂
Modern hammer hk vs sig comparison?
LOVE it. Have added it to my list. Thank you for the idea AND for watching!
I'm a big SW, HK fan. You can keep the Sig 320s! The only good Sig is the 226.
220,225-229. you forgot a bunch,.... p365,p238. The 320 is good, they worked out the kinks. the 320compact in 45acp is awesome. m&p on the other hand👎
Poly sigs suck a$$.
How do you compare the Canik mete SF to this two?
I love all guns besides yeet cannons but i have a vp9 and live it
which would you recommend for a beginner?
I need to get a PDP one day!!! Thank you for watching!!!
These reports are all operator error. I have carried this gun for 2 years and 1000s of hours. I have done all sorts of physical activities with its IWB. Has never gone off, and it never will.
@@sammyg4806 have you dropped it?
@@stefthorman8548exactly
What holster do you use for the P320? I'm planning on helping my dad build one out, but I'm afraid I can't find the right holster.
I don't trust Sig. And the only H&K I've ever owned, I truly regret getting rid of. Was a USP 45. I'm a Walther fan. Have a PPQ and a PDP. But I also own a hellcat and hellcat pro and a glock 19 and a 17.
If I were to buy either of these 2, it would probably be the h&k.
How would you rank the VP9 against the p320 x-5 legion?
The Hk is the “snap on tool” of pistols, while the polymer Sigs are the “Harbor Freight tool” of pistols. There’s no comparison. I wouldn’t even issue the enemy an Sig M17/M18.
No way am i gpong with the sig 320. I really dig the vp9, and hks in general, and hammer fired at that
Thank you so much for watching!
Indeed. The p30's are straight up tanks.
Which model of p320 is that model?
That is the full size P320. It started as a P320 XCompact but for this I have the grip module in a full size conversion kit.
THANK YOU for watching!!!
Personallu ill take the grayguns modded p30 lem and my p30 ls and an old school usp
That said sig 1911 scorpion and p220 can ru i just adore and have ansog 250 and want a sig p229 so bad
Vp9 is 10x better. Im bout to buy a couple vp40s. Vp9s are tits.
VP9 all the way, because it only fires when the trigger is pulled.
But so does the 320 so what's your point
@@flake3299 Clearly my joke went over your head.
🤣
@@flake3299sure it does. 🤣
Those are my 2 favorite brands and i own several of each. However HK fanboys are the most annoying of any brand. I love their products but not their typical fans. Cant go wrong with either brand.
You aren't wrong. I love hk's as well. That said however, the fanboyism is obnoxious.
I love my p320, I shot so much better with it than the VP9. It's nice to see someone else struggle pulling that takedown lever out... I thought it was just me.
Answer this question and you'll have the answer.... What Brand, and even getting more specific what pistol has had recalls??
Glock!? Oh…no. (:
Very good point. Thank you for watching!!!
I don't think I want a Sig Sauer p320 boom box. Seventy plus lawsuits , on possible manufacture of negligent discharges on it's own.
are both equally easy to mantain?
Both incredibly easy to maintain
The H&K P7 was the best pistol ever!
Yea but those gonna run you like 4k$ 😅
I have p220 legion 45.acp and p320 xten👍👍👍👍
I want that Legion!!! Is your me DA/SA or Single Action Only?
Thank you for watching!!!
Never heard anyone say a 9mm is snappy lol. I have a VP40 with a 357sig barrel. It's a little snappy but it's alot more gun than a 9mm.
People who say the 9mm is snappy have never fired a 357 magnum in a snub nose or Glock 29 10mm, lol
I love me some 357 sig. Yes sir.
Both fine firearms but I prefer sig
Then you don’t know enough about either firearm. HK is vastly superior and the Sig is junk. Facts.
HK is supreme!!!
Between the two, I'd go with the SIG. Vp9 is not bad but clearly more snappy. Just my opinion. Both are fine handguns
Sig is a lot of fun for me. Like Lego’s for big kids!!! THANKS FOR WATCHING!!
