Thank you, sir! Great review! I was at an indoor firing range today and the RSO showed me her H&K VP9 with a 17 Round Clip. It looked very sweet. She asked if I wanted to shoot it, but I politely declined as I had to go. I told her I would do my homework on it. After watching this video and reading the reviews that I could find on this handgun, I'm going to be buying this gun, period! Thanks to this video. I also learned the difference between a hammer fire and striker fire pistol. Additionally, I also own a Sig Sauer. However, it is an older model P228 with a 13 Round Clip. Love the Sig though! When it comes to buying a handgun, it's all about the quality and workmanship for me instead of the cost. However, if i can buy it for less then that's like having my cake and eating it, too. Again, thanks for this video!!! 👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂💯💯💯
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I've boiled my choice down to these two and maybe one or two others for my first pistol. Been watching a lot of your videos and was so happy to see you had a direct compare on 2 of my top picks.
Thank you for this video. I watched it a while back and because of it, went out and bought the P320. I love my P320 and I am actually thinking about adding the VP9 to my collection. I always watch your videos when I do my studying of guns to make my decision. Keep up the good work hickok45 !
I picked up dozens of pistols over a year trying to find the one that fit in my hand & had a good trigger. I now carry the VP9 daily & love it. Shoots great too.
Nice shooting Hickok! You always tell it like it is. Makes you’r tests worth watching. Now my handeling of the H&K VP9 is a must. Thanks for this video.

Love how he spends most of his time talking about how great Sig is [and they are great] and then picks up the VP9, shoots like a kid at the county fair, and doesn't miss once.
So many nice guns on the market to choose from, is a plus for consumers. Thanks for the the comparative review. My favorite gun is usually the last one I shot.
Took the VP9 out to the range, and they had a P320 for rent. The VP9 shot circles around the sig in my hands. I was very excited to shoot the P320, and I was let down by it. Needed a light at the end, and the recoil impulse with 124 NATO was definitely noticeable. The P320 isn't that accurate. Maybe the twist rate? Maybe the lockup? not sure, but the VP9 clearly out performed the P320. I really wanted to love the P320, and I like Sig. But they need to rework this gun.
Ryan Tong Could be, but honestly my inputs felt right. I'm going to rent it again and see if it happens again. I'm going to put 100 rounds through a PPQ, my VP9 and the P320. See which of the 3 does better. I was disappointed that it didn't shoot as well as I expected.
Ryan Tong Yeah that's a good point. I do want to be 100% sure it wasn't just a bad range day though. I don't want to be wrong about it. It could also just be a bad sample. I love the VP9, there's no doubt about that. But I want to like the P320. The rentals are cheap for me, and I have the ammo. I think if it's bad this go around then I'll just leave it as it is, and move on with my life :) But I want to make sure I think. Want to make sure I'm giving it a fair shake.
I enjoyed this review. I do wish you had added the Walther PPQ M2 It seems to be right there in the price range and I have heard it has a very good trigger as well.
@@patrickfearon7942 it means that you hold your aligned sights just a bit below the spot you want to hit. So you can keep a clear picture of your target as opposed to covering your target with your sight.

I've been watching Hickock since I was 9. 10 years later, can't make myself buy a gun without his opinion. I swear he could hit a gnat's tail with a hi point at 150 yards.
Love this comparison! I have a VP9 for my competition (light. Non professional. Just a range group) and I love it. But I’ve had my eye on the 320 lately. 😁
p320 conversion kits (choice of: caliber .45, .40, 9mm, .357sig, slide and frame in full, carry, compact, and subcompact) are around $230 at the Pro Shop in Epping NH
I BOUGHT ONE SIG 320 COMPACT 9MM, AND I LOVED IT SO MUCH THAT I BOUGHT ONE IN .357 SIG! The Sig 320 is a purely AMAZING firearm, and I guarantee that anyone who buys one will not be let down!!!!!!!!!!
My 1st Sig was a 229. I took a P250 in trade and loved it except the 3 mile long double action trigger. Couldn't wait until the P320 to come out & I've been carrying a STOCK P320 Compact every since. Both are fine pistols but I can't find 1 thing that I would change with the Sig straight out of the box. I started with the P320 Compact (15+1) & added a Full size conversion kit (17+1). Have been thinking about adding a Carry frame which ends up giving me 3 different versions for less than the cost of 2 pistols.
Getting my P320 compact in FDE soon! Cant wait :D I sold the HK not because it sucked, it was actually extremely good, but I want something smaller for CC.
I picked the 320 today, over the VP9. I have the same issue with H&K's as you, they pinch my finger and give me a blister in a short time. I'm not sure what it is? Both of my USP compacts did the same thing..... Guess I'll put the Glock 19 and 17 in storage for a while......
As you recommended, tried both. The Sig P320 fit and felt the best. Great firearms the differences to me are in the grip. Trigger seemed better as well. Thanks for the great videos!
what's the distance to the gong? this gentleman makes it look easy to shoot the gong with a pistol. I heard from people that it is really hard for the gun to be precise on long distance. Either the guys I talked are horrible shooters and they work in police and army or hickok45 is a genius...
Here in Belgium we have fairly restrictive legislation. just strated shooting at the club. will take me about a year before being authorized to own my own gun. meantime i have time to see what'll fit me. That is where your reviews come in. love them. thanks, keep up the work.
Waiting period?? Dude you're in a baaaaad state. Tennessee background check 2 minutes and 45 seconds then..Thank you for your purchase (hands me the gun). Have a fun day!!
I have carried the VP9 since September, and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed by this gun. For me, the ergonomics on the VP9 beat any other gun I've handled, and the trigger is simply a work of art. Now... I have not had a chance to shoot the P320, but I will say the trigger on dry fire is also a work of art. No question, the top three striker fire triggers in my opinion are the VP9, P320 and PPQ. All are superb, and far superior to every other factory striker fire trigger offered. The ONLY issue I have with the P320 at present is the grip. It's a little fat for my smaller hands, but outside that, it certainly feels like standard Sig quality. That said, having put a couple thousand rounds through my VP9, I'm sticking with it. If you have not shot one, you owe it to yourself to do so. Nothing will beat Glock in the market for a long time to come, but let there be no doubt these two guns will certainly carve their own niche in this market. I got my VP9 with the LE package (night sights and three mags) for $699, and the standard gun runs $599. The P320 runs $525. Great guns!
I got my VP9 a few months ago and I have to say that the only thing I don't absolutely love about it is the price ($700 out the door hurts, but it's worth it, to me). It's beautifully made, feels excellent in the hand, and shoots like a dream. Reliable and good-looking at the same time is a match made in heaven. The only thing I'm going to change on mine is putting some Kryptek pattern tan Cerakote in a few places.
15 rounds is for reliability. I have some used magazines for P30L (same magazines as a VP9) and they must have more than 30000 rounds from previous owner and I shoot another 10000 with them without any single issue. And the springs are still original. So that´s why HK put 15 not 17 or 18 like others.
MKabarCZ Could be. Of course, they could have gotten some advice from Glock as to how to make a reliable 17-rd magazine. Even for people who do not like Glocks, it's pretty impressive how they've come up with magazines that just work every time.
MKabarCZ At least P320 gives the option. Either use 17 round capacity, or under-load to 16 or 15 rounds. Armourer can put a magazine block in if really necessary.
I think the point about the p320 being able to have several different platforms and only one gun registered in those countried that has a limit on the number of handguns you are allowed to own.
I have a 320C in 9mm, and you are right to change calibers runs about $400. but if you want to stipple your grips, and mess it up, it's only $40 or so to get a new grip. I've considered getting the .357 SIG caliber change kit, but not sure I would gain too much.
Went with the HK VP 9 which I’m very happy with. Also almost went with sig for my carry but decided to go smith & Wesson which I feel better about. I watched his comparison video with the p365xl where the striking pin failed to prime the first round, that would be a bad day in a tight situation.
Glock 19 / 23 or G27 / 26. The P320 is a great shooter, but the G19 is about half the size and just as shootable. For range shooting, it really doesn't matter.
I've had both for several years now and the VP9SK I have is the most accurate handgun I own, probably due to the sights being easier to see with my old eyes. I quit shooting the P320 Carry for a while until I recently upgraded it with the Sig Pro Cut slide and AXG gripe module. The bright green front X ray night sights on the Pro Cut slide are much easier to see in the daylight so I can now shoot it almost as accurately as the VP9SK. A big advantage of the P320 is the ability to upgrade everything if you don't mind spending the extra money. The upgrades turn it into a completely different gun.
On the Sig website, they list the grips, frames, whatever you want to call them, at $300. So if you get the full size for $600-$650, you can have the compact version for another $300.
@@MegaBoooooooooooooob oh I know. I just recently purchased a vp9 also. And with the medium backstrap and the thin sidepanels it fits my hand like a glove. Best handgun I own next to my 1911.
Hi Hickock45 :) You don't seem to be happy with the H&K mag release. I'm just wondering if you've tried releasing the mag with your trigger finger? I find that way more comfortable than the thumb (zero grip adjustment). However, I'm a n00b shooter, so I might be doing something wrong... Lemme know either way :) much appreciated. Cheers! P.S. I get the pinch issue too, wonder if the trigger ought to be a touch longer or shorter? hmm...
+Tom Arjannikov That's how I release all paddle-style magazines. I have had 2 P99's, a PPQ, and the VP9 which use that kind of release. I find it much easier to release it that way and the PPQ seems as if it is designed to be released that way, without having to adjust the grip of your firing hand.
Both sig p320 and VP9 and very good hand guns. Personally my consistency and accuracy are better with the VP9. Shot both at the range on the same day. Became an instant fan of the VP9. The sigp320 is neck and neck with the VP9 in a lot of ways, imo. The accuracy on the VP9 is the difference maker for me.
Picked up both the VP9, and the VP9SK today. Got a screaming deal, $424.99 each, plus Arkansas sales tax, which brout the total to just over $900, out the door. They both shoot great, and both are great compared to my Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm. Love the trigger response, and short trigger reset. I still prefer Hammer style firearms, like my Beretta Model 92, but I believe I will be carrying my H&K VP9SK, as my concealed carry. Thanks for the comparison, though my local gun shop having both H&Ks on clearance, made my decision a bit easier.
The vp9 is the best feeling hand gun I've ever picked up.

I got my VP9 with the LE package (night sights and three mags) for $699, and the standard gun runs $599. The P320 runs $525. Great guns!
sig offers 3 or 4 different grip/frame sizes for the p320......not sure if they are all on the market yet
I agree with everything you said. I own both the vp9 and p320. The vp9 is the winner for me.
Savings costs from machination and development. Same reason why the .45 and 10mm Glocks are exactly the same size.
MKabarCZ At least P320 gives the option. Either use 17 round capacity, or under-load to 16 or 15 rounds. Armourer can put a magazine block in if really necessary.
hickok45 the 15 round capacity in my VP9 is the ONLY knock on it. And yes that’s annoying. But maaaaan is that a nice gun to shoot.
I think the point about the p320 being able to have several different platforms and only one gun registered in those countried that has a limit on the number of handguns you are allowed to own.
VP9 in my opinion. Especially if you're going to carry it. But you can't go wrong with either...
I bought the P320 because I heard H&K customer service sucks. That was from a gun shop owner. Both pistols are awesome!
I have a 320C in 9mm, and you are right to change calibers runs about $400. but if you want to stipple your grips, and mess it up, it's only $40 or so to get a new grip. I've considered getting the .357 SIG caliber change kit, but not sure I would gain too much.
I carry my VP9 IWB and it feels very comfortable. It shoots phenomenal. I like it!
Same here
I agree
You may like the VP9SK, I AIWB it in a Tulster and I hardly print and like it a lot.
Went with the HK VP 9 which I’m very happy with. Also almost went with sig for my carry but decided to go smith & Wesson which I feel better about. I watched his comparison video with the p365xl where the striking pin failed to prime the first round, that would be a bad day in a tight situation.
HK VP9 vs Sig P320 vid wouldn't be complete w/out a Glock to compare to... lol.
Love you, Hickok.
have both love both. glock 19 battleworn nibx is what i carry
I always watch Hickock45 videos to help me decide my next gun
Own a VP9, love it to death, but those Sigs have been calling my name lately.
The 365 is nice, imo better then the VP9 SK ... Still love my VP9 but it's a tad big for me to carry.
Great video Hickok.
do i sense favoritism to the vp9?
thanks man. your channel is worth every purchase in gold.
I've heard good things about the VP9, likewise I have also heard good things about the P320.
Looks like an interesting video.
I have Sig320 Carry and I love it.
I have a Sig P320 and the HK VP9SK, love them both, great shooters, I carry the small VP every day.
Small ? It's as big as a 19. Lmao
Compact P320 all day Hickok! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Hey what do you regularly carry when you go out? I switched from a Sig P320 to a Glock 19. I just can't get used to a glock D:
Thanks
Glock 19 / 23 or G27 / 26. The P320 is a great shooter, but the G19 is about half the size and just as shootable. For range shooting, it really doesn't matter.
That's why those fat generic clunkers own the market, everyone else is playing catch up.
John Johnson What's up with your profile picture?
I shot the Glock 20 (Non-SF) when I was 11, wasn't bothered by the grip size, didn't even notice it. To this day I like the big grip, its a hand-full.
John Johnson Are you saying Glocks are stupid?
Bought a P320 Compact today. It shoots great and having that Sig quality is always a good thing! Thanks for the video!
The vp9 has taken over my g19 as edc. I love shooting that one Alittle more
I had a ruger American, sig p320, and the the vp9. Went with the vp9. So glad I did. Better ergo's better trigger, better sights. Love the vp9.
VP9
ALL DAY

Everyday
I've had both for several years now and the VP9SK I have is the most accurate handgun I own, probably due to the sights being easier to see with my old eyes. I quit shooting the P320 Carry for a while until I recently upgraded it with the Sig Pro Cut slide and AXG gripe module. The bright green front X ray night sights on the Pro Cut slide are much easier to see in the daylight so I can now shoot it almost as accurately as the VP9SK. A big advantage of the P320 is the ability to upgrade everything if you don't mind spending the extra money. The upgrades turn it into a completely different gun.
VP9 is coming out in a compact size. Just announced.
Much needed!
You will always be my go to when I’m looking for a new firearm. You’re the 🐐
Sig p320 is definitely what I like the best overall
On the Sig website, they list the grips, frames, whatever you want to call them, at $300. So if you get the full size for $600-$650, you can have the compact version for another $300.
Both are awesome, but that HK...mmm. Loads of sex appeal!
Mmmm...you mean you like the curve of her"butt?" Hahaha
@@gabrielschake6259 for real though just got one and the hump in the grip feels so good lol
@@MegaBoooooooooooooob oh I know. I just recently purchased a vp9 also. And with the medium backstrap and the thin sidepanels it fits my hand like a glove. Best handgun I own next to my 1911.
They make the most bad a$$ looking guns!!
If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the P320 because it's more modular. Hopefully, Sig will eventually make a threaded barrel for it.
Most X-change kits (for the P250) sell for ~$235-285. So less than 1/2 a new gun, and they come with night sights.
Love my HK vp9! I carry it sometimes at 4:30. Wonderful shooter!
Any chance of comparing the FNS-9 against one (or both) of these? Thanks, great review.
That'd he interesting, I'd end up between hk and fn
That's an unbelievable price. Congrats!!
My local Atwoods had them on clearance.
