    A guy I knew had two 421s. A B model and a C model. Both were very nice examples, but in those days, even the majority of airliners still had steam gauges. I flew in both several times in the right seat. The original panels were very well done and had decent lighting for night flying. It seems a little odd to me to see a glass panel 421, but it makes me feel good knowing that people are willing to make the investment in them to keep them desirable. Thanks to Dr. Schnelson for letting me fly with him, thanks to you for the memories.

    What a beauty!! Love the sound of those geared engines. I wish Cessna would start manufacturing twins again. What happens in 20-30 years…flying 60-70+ year old twins? I guess it’s possible but geez. Love your videos they are very calming.

    what a beauty of a plane,always thought when Cessna came out with this model it was the right design, very roomy and good lines, now that you shown this one with all these updated nav instruments is a perfect flying machine; so sentimental because never forget my flight in a 421C back in 1992; anyway your video is well cut and edited,almost made it cinematographically correct, good job, Rich you are the best taking us for a fly in beautiful California one more time, kudos to all of you that makes this video possible . 😃😁

    Santa Paula - a postage stamp airport tucked in a narrow valley...with power lines at trees at the approach end...I'd be nervous going in there with my Cherokee Warrior! A real button chewer but real airmanship getting that big twin in and out of there...NO margin for error. Seems like the 425 with PT-6's would be an excellent move up airplane as well - any thoughts on that subject?

  • @TranscendianIntendor
    @TranscendianIntendor 5 месяцев назад

    I flew in one of these back in the late 70s. I have taken flights in just enough of the great general aviation aircraft to remember them distinctly. I was with Buddy Cannon who sold planes for Atlantic Aero. I never had any doubt about the piloting abilities of Mr. Cannon. Last time I saw him he got angry with me. Far as the aircraft it is one of the greatest of Cessnas. I certainly remember it as a great ride in a great plane and was glad I helped him wash it. I was one of the best linemen at Atlantic Aero or Business AirCenter or Page AvJet. Turned out that the people that had it out for me were coke heads stealing fuel they sold to a fuel oil business to finance their habit. They'd put it in with the sump fuel to cover themselves. Meantime I was demoted and moved over to Piedmont Airlines where I was fired for talking about my ambition to make a nation of airports. Maybe it had something to do with the reports I got in the causeway between gates one day at work when I was told my wife a Goldie Hawn type blonde was having an affair with Louis Loewes a very handsome Jamaican guy. I was going through a terrible divorce. She worked for USAir that was buying Piedmont. I ought have sued USAir and then sued my wife for support since in Aviation I was destroyed. As an outsider then my goal of creating an airport nation was set back far. I went to driving a cab for a year and then showing my movies in a disco called Club Zero, appropriately. Then I went to NYC and drove a lighting and grip truck becoming a Key grip or Gaffer and eventually DP. I hated and still hate Piedmont Airlines. They were liars to me, as well as believing lies said about me. They had the money to have had it the other way around but were weak in their heads so USair bought them. Anyway far as Cessnas go the 421 is a great airplane. Between the Citation and the 421 it would be a hard decision. I loved the Cessna 340 as well. For its looks, but gee whiz it sure was short on carrying capacity. Beautiful shape though. The plane I got to fly the most was a Piper Tomahawk. I really did prefer sitting on the wing as opposed to hanging under it. I don't know if the Tomahawk could take the abuse meted out to a Cessna 152. I refused to stall a Tomahawk before it became known as a killer because it was hard to pull out of a spin that could follow the stall. Oh Man I miss flying and wish my father had helped me learn piloting when I asked him to at 13.

    Santa Paula is a wonderful airport with a great heritage and is well attended by many aviators/builders. The on site restaurant is very nice and serves the public well. That said ... there is nothing like "The GIRLS" at the Waypoint Cafe at the Camarillo Airport. They are open every day except Monday. The best food ... the best service ... the most friendly staff I have ever seen. If you go, get there early. I have been hating the place for 38 years. I'm there in my 1965 AC Cobra once per week. I know every server and the manager by their first name, and they know me. Hugs all around. No way to get a better meal or better service.

    Its a privilege to be able to fly so many different types of planes but are you ever scared when muscle memory fails & you forget where a switch is or the nuance of a different GPS while in flight?
    I know sometimes if i drive my brother's , wife or moms car I forget to switch to turn on the windshield wipers because the cars are different until I learn where that switch is again but planes must be a little more unforgiving if you forget where critical switches etc

    It’s just an inspiration to see Rich flying GA aircraft of all sizes in such a professional way. Hat’s off to you and thanks for sharing the views!

      Risky though with ADS-B. Not easy to justify. Fun to do and watch though!

    As a former retired professional pilot and because of my curiosity, please expound on how you as a pilot can fly so many different types of aircraft? WOW! I want to do that. Could be a great subject for you to produce on your site.

    Quick question for anyone that knows do the aftermarket spoilers help at all with landing especially into airports where there’s runway obstructions right before the runway? Not sure of this either but I see airliners use ground spoilers all the time same application help with this aircraft?

    KSZP is a great little airport. Sorry you didn't get that lunch, it's a nice little resturant.
