Hub motors make so much sense, I feel like sticking a drone 4-in-1 esc with 4 hub motors in an RC car would be great with potential for cool things like torque vectoring, tank steering, and front/rear bias tuning.
That stealth car was one of your funniest videos, I’m still grinning at how easy and effortlessly it was destroyed.. There’s nothing better than laughter after a sh1t day lol..

That 3d printed speed car was defiantly a funny video to watch, although it is a shame that a $1600 prototype disintegrated immediately, The concept is good, but it shouldn't have costed $1600 for people to test it. Hopefully the revised production model is durable enough to used under normal circumstances.
It's a perfect example of a good concept but the execution was a failure. The outrunner motors at each wheel is an excellent concept, you can get into torque vectoring, but not if the wheels disintegrate......
@@ecr8044 Yeah, you nailed it. The quality makes me think it's a bunch of guys in their garage who "think" they're engineers. I hope people pay via paypal so they can get their money back....

The only benefit would be if they get torque vectoring right, which I guess would be IMMENSELY difficult in such a small car without the use of sensors like in a real car (e.g. the Rimac Nevera). In it current form it is FAR to powerful for (what it seems consumer-grade) 3d printed parts. I have 6 different 3d printed 1/8th scale RCs (4 crawlers and 2 buggies) and they work perfectly fine - because they only use quite small motors, are not super fast and you have to know their limits - so you don't drive them like you would a "normal" RC. But for a commercial product, costing 1500€+ this is unacceptable
So they built that stealth out of 3D prints and off the shelf parts, gingerly put it in a box without ever actually testing it and sent it out for review to a notoriously destructive RUclipsr? These people would feed a dog chicken bones.
So I have to say that the motor on the video for the savage, you didn't even hit peak rpm to even have the need to shift gears. Also, you can adjust the shift points. There is no "perfect" setting for the shift points. It's all based on rpm.
I don't get the whiners about the mammoth car saying your review would sink a company. It's the quality of the car that sinks the company. For me as a person who loves RC cars I am very interested in your videos. I know you take your RC cars to the limit, and bash them way harder then I do. However I know if the RC can make it with you then I am in good shape. You provide a lot of knowledge and tips on how to improve RC cars to make them as reliable as possible. This all means a lot to me. If the company has fixed all the issues with their RC car they should send you another one to show how the improvements have gone. It’s ok for a company to send items to people for a durability test and if it fails that ok. However for a consumer of high end RC cars I need to see this car run before I ever consider purchasing one. Kevin, thank you for your hard work and all the effort you put into making these videos.
Hey Kevin. Country boy from Virginia, USA here. Was wondering what kind of tires you have on your Land Rover. Would love to know. I need a good mud tire for my mud truck.
Kevin I subscribed to your channel because you are funny and ooze integrity. I paid for you RC workshop to learn this hobby, my first car I bought was the Arrma Fireteam when it was on sale last month. Thank you for all your hard work, you're responsible for getting me into this hobby.
Great video again Kevin, I have multiple Arrmas 8s cars and a Traxxas X-maxx. Both brand are best in there own way. In my opinion for bashing in the woods Arrma is the way to go. But on tarmac the Armma is to heavy and bends easy. Traxxas is in my opinion better on tarmac than for bashing in sand and the woods.
Having hub motors comes with a lot of problems. There's a reason (actually a lot) noone uses hub motors. The weight of the motor introduces high inertia, so the hubs get a lot more punishment on every bump. And it makes the suspension react more sluggish. So the vehicle becomes unstable on anything that isn't silky smooth.
It would probably be better off having the motors at the center where there still 4 motors but you have a drives haft to the actual wheel , that would get rid of the unsprung weight and probably make it a lot better
In fact, even teslas actually have two motors with driveshafts to them to minimize unsprung mass. also, due to the gyroscopic effect, even with good steering, it would be pretty hard to turn wheels. Especially combined with hard suspension and many of the parts made from 3D printed plastic😆😆
Always an amazing video Kev! And it sucks to the mammoth won't be sent out to RUclipsrs anymore but there are a lot of companies that won't send their stuff out to RUclipsrs like yourself people who actually give honest opinions you can find a good review video on any model of RC truck or car because most of the time somebody is paid by the company to say good things I'm glad I am subscribed to your channel because again you're truthful and that means a lot in my book
I'm so glad to hear you say the truth about the mammoth, so many people made excuses for the mammoth, if the car was not ready it should never have been distributed, 3D parts, Banggood parts, servos from China, the mammoth is junk...I'm glad you didn't pay for it, well I hope you didn't pay for it....I assume not if mammoth kept it....yes good idea, bad execution....hey mammoth put the car for sale it should be reviewed if it's for sale to the public witch it was....
HPI has lost a lot of ground. For instance, about a year ago I bought the Maverick Quantum XT Flux and it was a disappointment out of the box. As it stands now, it's not too bad, but I've had to upgrade and/or replace and modify almost every part in it! High suck factor.
Started racing in '94. RC cars still have issues, nearly all of them. I havent seen you leave one alone yet. Thanks for the great videos! Your excitement almost makes me want a car again...but boats are just too much fun.
I was shocked by the review on the MT8 after hearing/seeing so much good about the MT10. It was reassuring, and quite honestly, a relief to see you still give strong props to the MT10 on this video. That is where my money was/is soon headed, for my first rc.
Kevin is an awesome content provider and a good tester for all of these cars but understand, he’s extremely hard on them. The average r/c car person doesn’t have the locations Kevin has to beat them up that bad so my guess is knowing TA for as long as I have they MT8 is going to be fine for normal use. That said, as someone who has tried what Kevin has tried with his cars. The xmaxx is the safer bet. That thing is hard to break and easy and cheap to fix.
I think you’ve been more than fair Kev. I agree about the Mammuth as a concept. It could be opening the door to a lot of possibilities for speed and traction control. I think they chose poor methods of manufacturing though. Needs more development and injection moulded plastics.
Yo Kev! -Kev from Ohio USA here wanting to say Ive been dieing to really see the difference in driveshafts and upgradeability from 3s to 4s arrma for my granite with drivedhafts/hubs and the difference. Id love id youd show the difference and your opinion on bashability/durability more importantly. Thanks. Keep bashing! Thanks for your content and love for the hobby. I agree, the best RC is the one that puts the biggest smile on your face
Hats off to you Kev with a honest review. If something is shit, I would rather someone else buy it and film it, than me wasting money on it and finding out a RUclipsr has lied about it.
Had an HPI Bullet MT Flux back in 2013 and it sort of seemed like the chrysler of rc cars, fast but broke super easy, was made out of chinsey plastic and could never find parts for them. It was fun but it still sucked. Have a buddy who has that same HPI Nitro and nothing but issues. We go out to rip, and he works on his for 30 mins then breaks it on a 3 inch jump, i throw down my slash 4x4 ultimate and bounce off everything and keep rippin for hours
I used to have a slash 2wd and they're really nice. I know you don't like 2wd but the Traxxas 2wd slash is honestly a very nice car and I'd like to see one on the channel even just a unboxing and your opinion of one would be amazing
Only big problem i see in stock form is The cogging, not being able to start on a upphill, or readjust The car slightly halfway up The hill for another send upp The rest Bouncers usually do some crawling where sending it is not an option anyways So it should Definetly have a sensored 3000kv or close for The extra wheel speed Ive got a hobbywing axe540L 2800kv squeezed into my capra and its good for almost anything you throw at it, huge torque and more speed then you ever really need with a crawler But its perfect for ripping up the most gnarly trails just like real rock bouncers
I have the old SavageXL, it does shift but you need to tune the engine really well for it to hit a good RPM and, its been a while, but I remember that I had to open the transmission, not just use the screw, to get it to shift smoother. Havent touched it in year, revised the engine last year (was totally gunked up and stuck) and used it, shifted perfectly. Its all about tuning and loosen the tranny inside and not just the screw.

Thanks for the honesty Kev. People just not saying anything or looking the other way about Bullshit is how the world ended up how it is now.
"The best rc car is whichever rc car puts the biggest smile on your face"
Words to live by.
Kevin I subscribed to your channel because you are funny and ooze integrity. I paid for you RC workshop to learn this hobby, my first car I bought was the Arrma Fireteam when it was on sale last month. Thank you for all your hard work, you're responsible for getting me into this hobby.
Great video again Kevin,
I have multiple Arrmas 8s cars and a Traxxas X-maxx.
Hey kev. Can you make a drift video with a car from Ken block. Rip Ken.
All the cars from Ken block as rc cars design
Kev always puts a smile on my face
The best rc puts a smile on your face. And when the wheels fell off the stealth, many people were laughing.
Kev i am thinking of getting a new rc car which one is fast and quite durable thanks
It's a great reflection on Kev, two products from the same manufacturer, one he loves, the other he hates, no brand loyalty just speaks as he finds
bring back the VRX RH818 COBRA and upgrade it please Kevin! send save there Brazil 🇧🇷
I think you’ve been more than fair Kev. I agree about the Mammuth as a concept. It could be opening the door to a lot of possibilities for speed and traction control. I think they chose poor methods of manufacturing though. Needs more development and injection moulded plastics.
I like the reviews and tips, he gives us about RC cars.
Thanks for messing with and crashing the rc cars for us! Very fun and entertaining to watch but a headache and sometimes expensive to fix. salute!
Fair play calling out Mammuth as 1600 is a lot of money to take out for 10 mins of running.
If the mammuth comes back I'll be suprised to be honest anyway it certainly put a smile on Stempy's face 😂
I used to have a slash 2wd and they're really nice. I know you don't like 2wd but the Traxxas 2wd slash is honestly a very nice car and I'd like to see one on the channel even just a unboxing and your opinion of one would be amazing
The rock climber rc is meant for uphill races just like In real life they don't crawl they send it up the hill and if you flip you lose
Only big problem i see in stock form is The cogging, not being able to start on a upphill, or readjust The car slightly halfway up The hill for another send upp The rest
Bouncers usually do some crawling where sending it is not an option anyways
So it should Definetly have a sensored 3000kv or close for The extra wheel speed
Ive got a hobbywing axe540L 2800kv squeezed into my capra and its good for almost anything you throw at it, huge torque and more speed then you ever really need with a crawler But its perfect for ripping up the most gnarly trails just like real rock bouncers
Again, you make my day with mentioning the Mammuth Stealth 😀. Mammuth definitely lost their sense of direction....
Hi Kevin, what do you think of the Kyosho MP9 TKi4? As a race buggy? And do you think its the best? Thanks
TRAXXAS 8s has been my favorite, which I learned from Kevin and I cannot think him enough for the awesome information and incredible videos.
I respect you for being loyal
Buy a Kraken Vesla! I WANNA SEE IT RIP. Happy New Year Kev!
Keep the hits coming brother! love to watch!!!
Kev it’s cool that your honest with your with us cause that makes your viewers want to watch more of your vids
I enjoyed your video. The only car I have from your list is the Ryft, and I agree with your assessment completely. I have also modified mine with a two speed transmission, rear anti sway bar, reinforced axle housings, different shock absorbers, and a spoiler. With these modifications it is actually a fun car to run.
You said it yourself. Just depends on who you are and what makes you happy. Not everyone launches thier Rc's in the air unless they are airplanes. It's become a preconceived notion that you are supposed to do that to them.
You can do whatever you like to your toy!
Truth and honesty with Kevin every time. Sad other channels are under the thumb of their 'sponsors' and are willing to sacrifice their own integrity for a freebie! They know who they are...
Speaking if hooning around, RIP KEN BLOCK!
I like that Kevin tells us everything
I will look up a car to see If it's good a d I'll click Kevin's video first. He dosent talk 10 years to start the videos. He gets to it right away.
Your the best Kev! Thanks for the honesty and the entertainment!!!! 👍🏼😎👍🏼
Kev - Please buy one of the new 'fixed' Mammuths and test it for us. I do believe the platform has huge potential and *could* even be the future of speed run RCs, but after its last shocking appearance on your channel, thats a BIG *could* ! Happy New Year btw!
Why buy a car that disintegrated in seconds and costs a small fortune? You buy kev the car and let him test it
@@TheSpliffMaster because the car is ‘allegedly’ fixed of those previous issues and they are now selling it as ‘finished’.
@@GaminGit but still seems a big risk to take when the only one I've seen being used (not by the maker) disintegrated in seconds. He literally bliped the throttle and it fell apart. There's a lot more out there for the same price that are tried and tested.
Why should he waste *his* money for that crap? Buy it yourself and send it to him.
I don't have any RC cars. What I know about them. I've learned from your videos. I pray you do not bow down to any manufacturer. Please don't change your character for someone else's gain. Ty from the U.S, Florida!
For a moment I thought Richard Hammond was testing RC cars then🤣
Man I feel bad for the mammoth guys, they are getting some decent flak. But honestly, $1,600 and a 6 week lead time. They needed the wake up call. Chase your ambition, but maybe they need to take a business class or something 😂
People need to understand the mammuth stealth is a PROTOTYPE. If you want to test it buy it yourself. You've got the money.
I know these are your opinions but slamming any rc car on concrete and jumping off skateboard ramps will kill lots of cars. Off road not concrete lol.
Yeah, everybody that I know that’s had the rift has done something with the motor
Thoughts on ftx zorro?
The mammoth was an epic video and the fact that there not willing to send it back means its quite simply a money trap and a load of crap put together rather nicely so its officially the best visual of dog waste we've ever seen only the poh wouldn't have spread pieces of itself quite as well as the car did so on that bombshell game over 👏
That Mammuth has to be the hands down, the worst RC car of the year by far. How they could ever have put that on sale is astounding. 3D printed tat, using cheap parts and asking a fortune for it.
@Kevin Talbot Sledge VS RXT? witch would you get?
Get the finished mammoth and try it out now that it’s fixed!
that mammuth has some great ideas but it is only a prototype. Its crap. They're gone...
Kevin Talbot
Please make more fun and enjoyable videos this year. And be healthy and happy. Happy New Year~😄❤👍👍👍
Love the content you inspired me to buy a Traxxas udr and I love hooning it around
Kevin no one is as nutty as you are about rc cars I believe you when it comes to the legit facts my man..
Keep up the great work kev! My kids watch so I appreciate that it’s clean 👍🏼
Love your style of content creation! Thank you for keeping me entertained while I recover from surgery.. Thank you from the USA!
You need to adjust the transmission to shift with the set screw. Reading manuals can help sometimes.
Who need manuals.
@@guaccy_rc7120 well this guy apparently because he probably doesn’t know how to adjust the shifting points on a HPI Savage 😂.
