  • We grow weary as we journey through the dark winter night. We may take a moment of respite to slow down and take in the silence. But we mustn’t stop too long, for we all have promises to keep: to ourselves, to each other. The easiest way out of the darkness is to continue on through it-right to the end. After the longest night, the sun shall rise before us.

As I watch the video and see people leading horses in the bitter cold, I think horses are like family animals. In Korea, it is said that in the past, before the existence of feed or hay, there was a custom of feeding boiled rice straw to cattle. I truly feel that it is difficult to raise cows and horses without utmost sincerity.(동영상을 보면서 매서운 추위속에서 말을 이끌고다니는 사람들을 보니 말이 가족같은 동물이라고 생각합니다.

Yes, horses and similar animals like cows were treated very much like family members because they are very smart and have personalities. I know it was an old tradition on Christmas Eve to give all the animals a double amount of hay and feed for them. Bees were treated in a special way too. People thought you had to tell the bees all the news that would happen or else they would fly away. Funny little traditions like that, but i think they sound nice.

Lovely! I keep trying to do a reading of this wonderful poem, but I can never get it quite right. It's such a subtle and delicate work!

Yes, Frost is very subtle isn’t he. Brief, but full. I hope I didn’t beat you to it. Was trying to find one for the solstice and I thought it fit. But it’s a dreary wet winter here. No snow and barely any frost. We usually have some by now. PS I was pleasantly surprised to hear your narration for the Millenniyule intro 👍.

No, I'm going to try again in the New Year (probably). A lot of my readings never see the light of day. Your images are wonderful, as always, Kyle. @@KyleEricksonPoetry1617
