What an amazing Dad. In 20 years time those young men will be saying 'Do you remember that time Dad flew us to France?'
in 20 Years time will change and you could be in France in less than an hour, but for sure in 40 years.

That's such a 1960s thing to say ;)
It’s great to see a father spending quality time with his sons, there isn’t enough of this in the media these days. Keep up the great work and the fantastic videos!
Spending anytime, out of a day, even just talking.
Fritz Von it doesn’t matter how busy you are or how wealthy. You make time for what’s important.
Don't remember those consistent times, with my dad !
Lets fly to France and cycle for some lunch half way there 😀
Brilliant parenting 🍻🏴
What an incredible trip! Congratulations to the 3 boys, especially the youngest who is in control!
Amazing adventure with your boys! I look forward to experiencing the same with my tribe in the future!
I am assuming when you say France, you mean Pierre et Miquelon? 😂... I’m from Montreal and live in Calgary now on the other side of the continent.. I never thought of doing that flight while living in Quebec! Great job looks like fun!!
Lol.
@@arcticwanderer2109 🤔
@@Drumsticksmcgee Pierre et Miquelon is not in France but part of France. I was just giggling at the technicality of the term. It is correct either way.
I grew up flying with my dad
Thanks
Excuse my language but I almost shit my pants when they also pulled the bikes out. What a perfect trip.
I would have loved to have a father like this........lucky kids!
I had a wonderful dad too. He just didn't have the money to buy a plane.
Arturo Canales My point exactly. Same here.
This is some of the coolest ish I’ve ever seen.
This reminded me of the guy back in the fifties who flew the Atlantic in a modified P-51. I remember that he called his engine "Ernest" because he hoped it was. He caught the jetstream to help him along his way. I think that was the first time I heard of the jetstream.
nemo227 P-51 was able to achieve such a high range not only because of the internal tanks and drop tanks, but also due to the efficient, low drag design. It meant the merlin engine could achieve cruising speed with less HP, and subsequently less fuel consumption.
The laminar flow wings, the lofted airframe and the Meredith effect radiator all helped.
@@5000mahmud Yes, the P-51 had a lot of good features. Have you ever flown one, or flown in one? I never have but I've taken glider rides and that was very nice.
nemo227 Never, but I would like to. Sadly life in the inner city is not amendable to such hobbies.
@@5000mahmud At my ancient age I can recall living in towns, cities, suburbs, country, and even in a logging camp and it was all before 1951. When you're a kid you go where your parents go. I've been in my house since 1970 . . . but it's right next to an airport. When I'm working in my back yard I can hear the flutter of opening parachutes and I watch those "crazy" people jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. That's thrill enough for me.
Ok, so watched the whole video wondering how this trans Atlantic journey is possible so quickly and in such a small plane.... 🤣
They're flying to Montreal - the Quebecois think they are more French than Napoleon and Empress Josephine's lovechild. lol
They flew to St. Pierre .. google it. It’s a french island off the coast of Newfoundland
Jin Zhang no St. Pierre. You don’t cross an ocean to get to Montreal
Great family. Nice to be well heeled enough for such a plane and such a trip.
Wish I had a dad like this, let alone even having one.
Same
You can’t pick your parents.. the spectrum is huge .. wishing past reality is pointless.... make due with your situation and don’t let a perceived lack change your trajectory....you can achieve whatever you want ....your story doesn’t require a perfect scenario....
@@normanharris7333 Well said👍🙏
Why not have the life jackets already on? I thought that was SOP?
Not sure why I got this in my feed but it was amazing to watch ! Must of been a great experience! How much fuel was used ?

Hi- Congrats on school! Where are you at in your flight training?
@@rumrnr78 Thanks💕 It's the new love of my life for sure. I did my two supervised solos and one local unsupervised solo and winds and weather permitting I'll do a cross country solo this week and then finish prepping for my checkride for my PPL. Going 0 to hero though.
Victory IsMine Nice! Are you in a professional program? Where are you planning your first solo cross country to? McAlester was my first solo cross country and took a tour of the Flight Service Station. Sadly, I read that it closed.

@@victoryismine2926 Awesome! I have to renew my CFII this Summer at American Flyers
I very much prefer the phrase "No runway available, gear up" the the more common "Positive rate of climb, gear up".
I used that phrase for years until an instructor convinced me (when flying a single engine aircraft) to leave the gear down as long as there was enough runway ahead to land in case of an engine failure. NTSB reports are full of lots of mishaps when the gear comes up too early for no real reason.
“No runway available” is used for single engines. “Positive rate” is used for multi engines, because if you lost an engine in a multi, the gear will create drag and reduce lift.
Hi Brad, Your explanation makes perfect sense and I agree. But I don't see your logic applied by YT video makers. Not sure about the real world.
Bonnza has action range aroud 1700 Km.. how many times you have landed ?
Heck of an adventure. Thanks for sharing. Also, heck of a father and kids.
Boston to moscow in the new piper super dupper cub...ohhh. Yeahhhhh
I have such dream in future but yet to get my license... Bravo.
This is not rocket science, it is political geography. These two islands are French off the Newfoundland SW coast are part of France. Just as Reunion in the Indian Ocean is French. Just like Azores are Portuguese and Canaries are Spanish and Hawaii is US.
Is this the solution we are asking for? Thank s
Boston to France in bonanza not possible in 5 hrs ?
I am not a pilot but Nova Scotia to France is about 3,000 miles Bonanza 36 has speed of 176 ktas , how could you go in 5 hours?
Makes a great team.
That is awesome making memories!
Survival suits? EPIRB? Satphone? Water?
??? Why would you need a satphone to fly to St Pierre? You have radio contact all the time.
@@ClintEatWood you have radio contact... until you don't. They thought of bringing a raft for a reason. Satphone should be in ditching bag. Besides, they are cheap and can be used for lots of other stuff like camping. I'm from Canada so when you go canoeing in even parts of "middle" Ontario there is no phone coverage. You should strive to stack the odds of survival in your favour as much as possible.
@@black_triton9264 What kind of satphone do you use, and what are the approx cost? I always thought they are very expensive, especially the cost for a call...
ClintEatWood I use Thurya. Iridium is also very popular. Prices vary from $400-1800. Call time depends. On a plan it can be as low as $0.15 per min and no plan can be $2 per min. About a decade ago I recall it being $8 per min. Check the coverage where you plan to operate. Some are better in ocean areas, Southern Hemisphere, etc. So for the cost of life, it’s very cheap. I work in overseas security sector so it’s a standard back up for me. Along with batteries. Vehicle tracking by GSM/GPS is also common.
ClintEatWood you can use it for text. Sending your coords at the press of a button. And also hotspot for data/email/internet.
There is no way you made it from Boston to France in 5 hours...impossible.
@@patienceisalpha Maube it's a SR-71 masquerading as a little plane.
I’m getting my pilots license 😍
This so so awesome, if I was your son I would try convince you to drive from England to Africa(if it was safe to go through certain hot regions in the Middle East) always wanted to visit west coast of Africa and Eastern Europe
Now THAT sounds epic!
I think you can drive to Morocco fairly safely. Take the ferry to France. Drive down to Spain. Get the ferry to Morocco. It's fairly safe over there. I would probably not go to Algeria though. Tunisia is fairly safe.
You guys are heading to Saint Pierre et Miquelon right ? ;)
what a nice way to spend a Sat morn
Awesome guys. Thanks for the inspiration
Jetstream must have helped.
Boston to France in 5 hours ! In this small airplane ! I didn’t get it !?
They went to St. Pierre 🇫🇷. Easy peasy.
@@kaziu312 So in other words, a click bait title.
Well, no. Not really.
@@kaziu312 Ya, really it is.
@@thomastmc Only if you 1) didn't read the PROVIDED description where it says French soil and 2) did not understand that French soil doesnt stop at The Hexagon. Their title wasn't false. Advantages of amphibious aircraft are evidential
Lovely, would have appreciated a quick reference to a map where you show what you will be doing.
To that guy wearing the Yale T . . . 'Bulldog, bulldog, ra ra ra, Eli Yale ! I grew up . . . in Hamden, CT.
You wouldn't get me doing a transatlantic flight in a single engined aircraft.
They didn’t. These islands are south west of Newfoundland Canada. It’s a very short flight from Sydney Nova Scotia to get to these French islands.
I wonder the speed, the altitude and is this type of aircraft pressurized.
Best range is at cruising speed of around 150kts, but max cruise speed at around 170kts. At a point in the video they mentioned 5500 ft, so probably unpressurised
Eckhard Binding very informative. Thanks!
I did it in under 3 hours, Boston, Lincolnshire to le Touquet, France.
But did you go from Boston to France in less than 5 hours?
St Pierre and Miquelon, France which is near Newfoundland
Wish I could experience this kind of stuff....i love aviation...but can't afford the schooling....you sir are so lucky...safe travels to ya..ever fly to mo..hit me up..bbq for ya
Fold-up bikes? The airport didn't have a car for you?
I have thousands of hours in light aircraft, and also find the bicycle in the back to be essential.
Where was the original take off from ?
What an outstanding dad. Obviously not Tom Douke, Matavera, Rarotonga, Cook Islands...🥺🥺🥺

So how you got your clearance to cross the Atlantic airspace with only one engine ?
Not france in Europe imposible. 5 hours cant do place in Canada called france
Alex t Negative... It is actually France. France owns a self governing territory an Island off the coast of Quebec nfld and Labrador, near the gulf of the St’ Lawrence. called Pierre et Miquelon. So you will get a France stamp on your passport.
@@trooper744 was thinking 'is it the euro

Awesome video. Which airport did you take off from initially? I missed that.
Boston
What to and/or how will you tether raft to aircraft so when thrown out it doesn’t float away (rough seas high winds)?
The raft has a long tether that you hold when you toss it out. When it reaches the end of it's length, you tug on it to inflate the raft. It's not advisable to tie it off, since it could be dragged down with the plane.
Amazing!
my dad was a surgeon so not too many days off
Hi ! Which is your home airport ?
Awesome !!. ..
What make and model folding bikes are they? I have several old Raleigh Folder bikes. Thanks
Can’t make it over ocean not enough fuel
Video from the rear in flight
Is that the flex in the air frame making the camera wobble.? Or the force of the wind.?
It’s an issue with the auto stabilization in the Yi 4K Lite camera
That was a great flight for you and your sons.
I would love to fly with you guys 😂
Triple nose dive
Wow!
Aint no way in he "double hockey sticks" I will be in that small propeller plane for 5 hours!!

how much was gas
Epic!
What was your overall flightplan
How do you pee?
No need...
Gee, France is about 3,000 miles as the crow flies....your Bonanza has a top cruise speed of 193 mph......which means flight time is approximately....3,000/193 = 15.5 hrs....but you say 5 hours? Plzzzzzzzz😂😂😂
I'm trying to understand myself....feel like an idiot for even clicking this
I thought the same thing takes longer than that on commercial planes
It’s a bit of a click bait title, but technically correct. I used to live in New England their are French islands off the coast. He didn’t say mainland France but obviously that is implied. They have some weird status where they are part of the European Union unlike French Polynesia.
Just read up on the islands very interesting, seems as difficult as some of the towns on the US Canada border
Lol, geography lesson. France has a territory island off the coast of Quebec and NFLD and Labrador off the gulf of the St. Lawrence called Saint Pierre et Miquelon. Yes technically it is France and you do get a France stamp on your passport.
How much did that cost i.e. landing fee's fuel and so on ?
at least 4 dollars per gal at best 3 dollars per gas at least 500 dollars on fuel
Meanwhile the wife is like "I'm going shopping!".
Cool !,
France 5 Hours?
St. Pierre et Michelon. Little island by Canada that France still owns.
Therefore the pretense of (mainland) France is BS! Don't misrepresent.
That is just awesome
How do yall attach the camera to the tail?
We have a Yi Lite action camera on a screw mount to the side of the tip of the vertical stabilizer.
650 MPH in that ..oh year ! try 9 hours !
ditto that
Yes got to love it
mike .D wym?
It’s click bait kinda. They flew to an island that is under French authority, which is off the coast of Canada, hence the “France” claim.
The Coin Alley yes

What’s cause of severe radio - headset - recording static?
Unfortunately, we had a problem with the charger for the dash camera that was putting noise into the audio. We couldn’t hear it on the radios but it made the audio recording a mess. We cleaned it up as much as we could. Now we have better hardware!

And a 💩ton of money.
Anthony Melvin u don’t need to be rich to own a plane.
