*One Month Later* Hmm... A couple things off the top of my head. 1) The Back Rest. I still feel like the back rest is stiffer/less flexible than the original one but I don't know if that's a universal change or something that softens with time. I've gotten used to the extra padding in the center spine area. The lumbar area is still a "small" source of pain for me in this chair but that's no different from my experience with the original. I still think that's the biggest potential dealbreaker for some since you can't move it higher/lower based the curve of your back. 2) Noise: This new chair doesn't make the same squeaking noise that my original Embody had made. According to HM, they fixed that squeaking noise on all Embodys and that this change was implemented around 2019. So it's possible there were some other minor revision changes since then that affect all Embodys. But... keep in mind that this chair will and does still have some mechanical/plastic/rubbing noises, which I think is unavoidable with such a flexible chair. 3) The Seat: It still feels kind of lumpy with that extra foam cushion and grooves in the seat. I think it will probably be more noticeable if you have longer legs and need to extend the seat pan out. But I don't think it's a deal breaker. 4) Headrest or Upper Neckrest. I wish there was an option to have a headrest on this chair. Lounging to some shows or playing console games would have been nicer with a headrest.
Nice review! I got mine about a week ago. I was wondering if you feel the seat is different than the original. I feel like the extra padding and lump on the seat is giving me some pressure on my thigh. If you felt the same way, did it go away after weeks of use? I also use it at home and wear shorts like you.
If you had to choose between the original or logitech version regardless of price which would you go for? What's ultimately more comfortable for long sitting, that's all I need to know so I don't have to buy both lol
I'm glad to say the issue brought up at 3:28 has been fixed! I got mine a week ago, and the foam has been extended all the way down the length of the seat bottom.
I´ve always been hesitant when it came to buying an expensive chair until recently when I finally bought one. A friend of mine recommended me a local company here in the Czech Republic called Therapia and I gave it a shot. I went to their store and I was surprised at how everything went there. They asked questions like: how long do you sit behind your PC, what´s your weight, what´s your height, how high is the PC, do you have any medical conditions, etc... After like 20 minutes of talking, they showed me two different models, to try them out, and honestly? I was amazed. I told them that I´d love to have one of them, so one of the employees took me to their office and showed me all the different customization options for that specific chair. You can choose different fabrics throughout the whole chair, different stitching, different color combinations of that whole setup, different headrest, and even different set of wheels. The whole chair cost almost $1.400, but it´s been the best chair and pretty much the best investment I´ve ever did.
Really appreciate your thoughts on this! I literally ordered the Aeron yesterday, and I'm wishing I would have at least considered one of these Embody chairs. Cheers!
i returned my aeron remastered yesterday and now waiting for the logitech embody. not sure why, but i just expected more from the aeron. i just could not sit long enough comfortably on the aeron (3 hours max)
I have both chairs (aeron and normal embody). Both are great, but it really depends what you like in your chair. Aeron is great if you like to lean/rock back on your chair, which I like and you can get a great aftermarket headrest (atlas) another huge plus for me. So this is my main chair, aeron with headrest. If you just like sitting in upright position without headrest, then it doesn't get better than embody (most comfortable normal sitting position chair). But honestly you can't go wrong with either one.
@@Kjin3 That makes me feel better! I ordered an Aeron in mineral color last week. I was having second thoughts on the order, wondering if I needed to go with the Embody. That’s awesome to hear! I actually have some minor scars on my kidney area from an operation many years ago, and I’m looking into getting this chair to try to help avoid some pain in that area. Did you go with the Logitech or the regular one?

I have the same chair. I bought it brand new a week ago and I’ve been trying to find flaws in the chair but I have yet to find something that would give me something to really complain about. I think the chair is well built. I purchased this chair for $1100 shipped to my door brand new. I couldn’t give up the opportunity to own this chair for $500 less.
I bought my gaming embody today as well for 1200€. It just happens that the price goes down for no reason. I was lucky cuz I stopped checking for chairs for 2 months now but something told me to check it's price again today
It isn't a sponsored chair. A sponsorship is literally an ad, of course a sponsored chair would be showered with praise. If this was a sponsored video, you can be sure it would have been, but to my knowledge David has never done a sponsored video.
Maybe you can help me. Im doubting a lot between this two chairs as I have health issues, namely a fibromialgia that makes all my muscles stiff and inflamed. My worst pain is the legs and the hip. Do you think the extra cushing in the gaming chair will be a benefit in my case or not? I also suffer from my back and neck of course, but the worst pains are at my bottom, legs and hips (the interior muscles of the hips) wich is why I want this chair as it has this pixel suspension given thatn traditional foam seat or mesh do not work for me and cretes me a lot of pain in the long term. I've noticed too that if the chair has better back support less pressure ir put on your bottom/legs so maybe the original one helps me more with more back support. thus why im doubting beteew extra foam in the gaming model or better back support in the old one, taking in account that at the end the bigest deal is going to be if the pixel seat does help me with my pain, wich I will only know when I try it. Wich one of the two you recomend me, the original or the gaming one?
Have you ever tried the Haworth Fern? I see very little reviews of it compared to the Herman Miller chairs, but seems like a good alternative to the Embody.
I've been looking forward to and hoping you'd review this chair. I wonder, as I can't recall--did you ever try the Aeron? I'm trying to decide between then two.
Hi David, I recently purchased an Embody regular with balance fabric, produced in August 2020. The chair was ordered before the Logitech gaming model was released. With the backrest everything ok, but the seat is stiff! I feel my feet asleep, it's probably the pixelated structure below and above all the seat edge. I ask you: do you think it would be possible to put an additional foam under the balance fabric? How thick is the foam under the logitech model? Considering your experience, do you prefer the balance fabric or the Logitech fabric? I'm waiting for your advices. Thanks
Can you please, please do a Budget Ergonomic Chair Review. I know that most people just recommend buying a used Herman Miller. But finding one is hard and you have to overcome the tolerance for buying used items. I'd really like to see a reviewer who i can trust.
" you have to overcome the tolerance for buying used items" At least you can find used, in the past two years here in the EU finding an used Aeron became a nightmare. Broken ones go for €600+. I'm considering buying new, from next month.
i had an embody earlier this summer. didn't like it so i sold it. the arm adjustments are more primitive than the ones on the steelcase leap. the base of the chair felt like the steelcase leap. i felt that the skeleton on the back just wasn't supporting me in the way i wanted to. it's really narrow and the whole time i just really wanted to move my back across the back rest to a different area, but there's just no space to move your back with the back rest being so narrow. to me, it looks really futuristic and touts some really nice design, but functionally, it wasn't too far off from a pretty common task chair.
I am so conflicted... I can get the original embody with sync fabric for $1050 before tax but dont know if that second layer of foam on the logitech version is worth and extra $400-$450...
you mentioned that the original back would squeak a bit when twisting. you mention the new one is a bit firmer... how does that impact the sound of the back twisting? is it still noticeable?
In the part where you mentioned the center back stiffness, you wrote that it might be due to it needing to be broken in more. Did you find that to be the case since filming the original review? Or do you still find the extra center back padding more fatiguing than the normal embody. Been considering picking this chair up and have been debating between the two. Thanks for the review!
I still find it stiffer compared to the older original. But I still don't know if that's from an overall revision change from 2017 to 2020, or limited to this Logitech version. As for the extra center back padding, my upper back has gotten used to it (or it's soften?). Still having some challenges with the lower back/lumbar but I had those same concerns with the original.
At work I sit on a Recaro Cammander (3800€) and I wanted to get about the same look and feel for my "Office" at home. I found a "clone" from HJH Office which "only" costs 1200€ and damn is it a nice chair. I really like the route they went on this one here though with the layered supports - I am afraid that the foam-cushion will give way over the years. Would I have known of this type of chair I maybe would have choosen it instead.
Thanks for the review and update David. I've seen at least 5 other reviews on HM's own webpage for this where they complained about the new seat foam abruptly "cutting off". I collated and sent these to HM in the hope they rectify this. One dude just bought some extra foam himself and slipped it in the space there to pad it out more, so at least it's semi-fixable. Shame they didn't improve the arms as this was one of the other major complaints. I hope they come out with better versions one day as apparently, they're detachable? Could easily be upgraded. I've not seen any complaints about the new back foam being only along the spine though, a tad concerning as I'm the EXACT same height / weight as you. I did read many reviews of the previous embody though where people complained the plastic "arms" in the back were digging into them. I assume that's not as bad now? I'm hoping your complaints about the back were just because you were able to compare with the original Embody, (I've currently used neither). I'm looking for a new chair myself and really considering this one. They HAVE to come out with some alternate colour options though as that blue is fooking horrible and my missus has explitly forbidden it, as it doesn't match anything in our house. If they do come out with alternate colours though (Dark red for me, purple for her), she'll be wanting one, too as her DX Racer is predictably falling to bits in it's 3rd year. A little concerning it's still a "hmm". Would definitely appreciate some updates as you get on and "break in" this chair. Do you think it would be great for someone (your height and weight) who's never tried the previous embody, and therefore doesn't know the difference? I'm currently sitting in an old version of one of these lol, with a Bonmedico bum and back cushion as my arse has ground a hole through the padding over the last 8 years: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004P8J1A8 As to the headrest, they say you don't need one, but it would still be nice to have the option. They should have made the "Flap" bit at the back on a hinge, where you can flip it up and rest your head on that!
@@bilaltahir9978 I only have the black one, however I believe they fixed it for the blue, too. Still going strong and happy with mine. Back feels really good, no fatigue.
@@bilaltahir9978 I'd say I miss it when REALLY wanting to recline and watch something. But for general work, gaming and youtubing it's not a huge issue, and you don't "need" it. Atlas headrests are making one for it though so I'll certainly buy when available. I've only really tried the big "Executive" "armchair on a pedestal" types, and a DXRacer Valkyrie (GF's) and DXRacer King. This blows all 3 out of the water. The price is expensive but considering how long most "gaming" chairs last nowadays and considering the 10-year warranty, you're just paying the same you would anyway but upfront, that's all. Well worth it for a healthy back. In the UK at least you can return within 2 weeks if you don't like it, so worth a try. Both me and the GF are happy with our Embodies, but not everyone gets on with them well (heard super tall people don't really like em).
For "Herman Miller x Logitech", the "x" is meant to be "by" and not actually pronounced "x". Similar to how a 2x4 piece of lumber is pronounced "two by four".
@@jorisbonson386 I agree it's not a dimension separator, but I think it's meant to be pronounced, "Herman Miller, by Logitech," not "Herman Miller ex Logitech." But I just did a search, and admittedly it's not quite clear, even on the official pages, so now I am not quite sure, lol. But pronouncing the "x" certainly sounds awkward.
what chair do you use? i tried the embody and if felt like just another chair. not really comfy. all the knobs and back bending features felt gimmicky at best. looks really cool. i'll give it that. i tried the aeron next to it and it blew me away. felt like i was floating. felt like it took off all the pressure points. my only problem with the aeron is that the B size feels like its trying to push me off and the C size feels a tad too big. the size chart says the B size is perfect for me. probably just gotta get used to it
I had the same experience but it’s better after making sure my thighs are parallel to the floor - my seat was raise too high so the pressure was on the back side of my legs. Also, I shortened the seat length by pulling it in as it was right up/close to the back of my knees. This helped released the tension on the thighs.
David, Thanks for spending time on a thorough review. I think you said (on the prevs. model) the chair made noise from the back supports is this so on this chair? So the sidearm supports do seem "clunky" also very cheap looking, especially when extended. For $1,500 usd that is a major misstep imo.
So HM told me they "fixed" this on all Embodys sometime in 2019. I can say that mine doesn't make as much noise as the original, but I say that with caution. This chair will always have some sort mechanical/plastic/rubbing noise. I would say it's avoidable with such a flexible chair.
Solid chair but I couldn’t keep it.. something about the back just felt off, if gave me odd pain. I had the same experience with the aeron, but now I am trying the think as well as they the fern!
Hey David! I came across your video on what to keep in mind while buying chairs. I really love the content you put. I was wondering if you could review on some steelcase office chairs. I really like how they look but idk how it feels to sit and how comfy they are overall. I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm currently sitting in an old version of one of these lol, with a Bonmedico bum and back cushion as my arse has ground a hole through the padding over the last 8 years: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004P8J1A8
As to the headrest, they say you don't need one, but it would still be nice to have the option. They should have made the "Flap" bit at the back on a hinge, where you can flip it up and rest your head on that!
UPDATE: In the UK - Black version of this chair, they've fixed the foam issue! It extends all the way to the end. Comparison: imgur.com/a/TQkaKZP
@@BobT36 Many thanks for this. Do you know if they fixed it only on the black version or did they also fix it on the black/blue version?
@@bilaltahir9978 I only have the black one, however I believe they fixed it for the blue, too.
Still going strong and happy with mine. Back feels really good, no fatigue.
@@BobT36 that's great to hear. Do you find that you miss the headrest? And do you still recommend this chair as the best on the market?
The video ive been waiting for! Thanks!
What laptop stand/arm is that?
@David Zhang are you able to get a Buro Metro chair in your country? $250 Australian and surprisingly comfortable
nice video! just wondering, what monitor do you have? keep up the great work :)
For "Herman Miller x Logitech", the "x" is meant to be "by" and not actually pronounced "x". Similar to how a 2x4 piece of lumber is pronounced "two by four".
bruh this makes so much sense now
Erm no.. The former doesn't refer to a dimension separator.
But pronouncing the "x" certainly sounds awkward.
im sitting on a 20Bucks wood chair from ikea since 5 years and watching a video about 1300 Bucks chair i never buy lmao
what chair do you use? i tried the embody and if felt like just another chair. not really comfy. all the knobs and back bending features felt gimmicky at best. looks really cool. i'll give it that. i tried the aeron next to it and it blew me away. felt like i was floating. felt like it took off all the pressure points. my only problem with the aeron is that the B size feels like its trying to push me off and the C size feels a tad too big. the size chart says the B size is perfect for me. probably just gotta get used to it
what made you choose the embody over the aeron?
possible to buy the normal embody & DIY put a sheet of soft foam in the seat?
Hi David, What is the brand and model of your Laptop mount? Is it CBS Ollin?
Now that you have the LG CX for more time, do you have experienced any burn in or other problems?
Hi David, What is the brand and model of your Laptop mount? It looks nice.
Have you tried review humanscale chairs? which are more simple with less pedals.
This review was awesome. Much needed information for consumers. Thanks!
What desk is that? great review
Hi, do you mind to share your setup?
Really like this monitor and your speakers. :)
What is the height/width of the table top for holding monitor arms
How much is your breadth of your table for proper distance from monitor
Can I please ask what's the brand of the stand that's holding your macbook? it looks really good!
I am still debating on buying it or not.
However, I am more interested in your laptop setup.
Do you have the iOS installed on a dell???
00:50 what's your wallpaper?
Cool review! What monitor do you have?
Thank you for the review. The old table was much nicer looking. Whats the benefits of the new one, why got rid of the old (wooden looking) one ?
Can you tell which arm monitor you using in the LG monitor video please ? Thanks
I bought the chair!
only problem i have the same 0.47 Kd....
Your vids are so useful and thank you very mucho for putting subtitles 🙏
Have this chair and find that my thighs start to feel fatigued quickly. Not sure if you experienced the same on either Embody versions
I had the same experience but it’s better after making sure my thighs are parallel to the floor - my seat was raise too high so the pressure was on the back side of my legs. Also, I shortened the seat length by pulling it in as it was right up/close to the back of my knees. This helped released the tension on the thighs.
Would it be possible to order replacement fabric and upgrade an older embody?
What is your background? The dark with blue dots
What monitor is that? What's the resolution on it? Make/Model?
do you order stuff for reviews the return them?
thanks
which monitor are you using?
LG CX
I was focusing on that big screen, not the chair! 😂😂
Let me ask, what is the computer screen you use in this video?
where did you buy the table?
Does anyone know what the speaker pads are that he's using? TIA :)
I would say it's avoidable with such a flexible chair.
out of topic question - what monitor do you use (model)
Awesome review on the chair. Very detailed. :)
Solid chair but I couldn’t keep it.. something about the back just felt off, if gave me odd pain. I had the same experience with the aeron, but now I am trying the think as well as they the fern!
I WAITED MY WHOLE LIFE FOR A NEW DAVID VIDEO
Hey David! I came across your video on what to keep in mind while buying chairs. I really love the content you put. I was wondering if you could review on some steelcase office chairs. I really like how they look but idk how it feels to sit and how comfy they are overall. I would appreciate it. Thanks!
