I’m real happy and excited about my chair! I’ve had mine a little over a week and I can’t find anything wrong with it! I wished they sold the black on black version on eBay when I bought mine for the same price but that’s not a dealbreaker since the color makes the chair stand out from the original embody.
I work from home and game... Chair is life at this point. I got a $100 mesh chair from Costco and seriously thinking of getting a great chair for home. Thanks for this video!
The armrests are meant to be pulled up before horizontal adjustment. If you pull up first there is little to no resistance and you can feel a light click for precise adjustments,
I must have watched 10+ videos on HM Embody and you are the only reviewer that has pretty much hit all the points I have in my head after trying it and all the other HM chairs back-to-back. The feeling of weightlessness on this chair compared to the other HM chairs is something else altogether and something I haven't experienced before. I wasn't sure about buying this chair because of the lack of lumbar support compared to other models but I think you nail it when you mentioned it probably doesn't need lumbar support as the backrest does the job anyway which makes total sense. I think I will choose this chair over the other HM chairs as it's the most comfortable and I like the fact it will promote good posture and movement and one size, fits all.
I've been hunting for a good chair for my home office for about 3 months now and I have seen a lot of people talk about the Embody chair. A lot. You can trust me then when I say this guy is absolutely on point and managed to make a video review more detailed and complete than many others I've seen from youtubers with waaay more subscribers. Keep up the good work dude!
Great video. I was using a $200 office chair for the past 4 years. At the hight of the pandemic, I began to work from home which meant I was sitting in that chair more than ever before and, oh boy, was my back killing me. At the end of every workday, I had really bad back pain. So, I decided to purchase the Herman Miller Aeron and I am not kidding you my back pain went away. Needless to say, I am 100% happy with my chair.
Great review, I'm about to start working at Herman miller and making these so I'm excited for the chance to make these and look forward to getting one this year
I’ve had the standard Embody...... I’ve had it for 6 months..... I had it uplifted with Chrome base which is super smart! I have back pain in regular office chairs...... but the embody is amazing for zoom meetings and mobility! Best office buy....... I can do a long day and feel a lot less fatigued at the end of the day. You’re right the arms are the worst part of the chair...... more swivel would be better
A tip for people new to buying the chair. >Yes you get back pain but its breaking the chair in (and your back.) > Yes it has not the BEST quality, it can be better It gets you into the proper posture. Other than that its amazing to sit in for long periods.
This is an old video, but I recently upgraded to this chair and just want to say that the forward and backwards adjustment was a downside on my previous chair. It moved too much, and like you said pulling on the arm would cause adjustments, my old chair would adjust with barely any pressure anywhere. This one is better for me IMO.
I got a brand new Logitech X G chair on eBay for literally $1100 shipped to my door. I couldn’t have found a better deal out there. I think I stumbleD into a golden opportunity buying it brand new with the factory box sealed up and no damages to the chair.
Just bought one for 15% off. I’m an online student doing MRI classes from home, so lots of desk work. I know this will be a great replacement for my Respawn 110 “gaming chair”. I’m 6’3” and 210lbs.
awesome. it's amazing. don't let the first few days turn your off. your body needs to adjust to it, more importantly you need to know how to sit and adjust it properly. herman miller has video for adjusting it, look it up. enjoy it. I love mine and has spoiled me. lol
I’ve sat in the Logitech version and the original Embody when I was looking for one. Long story short I’m sitting in the original. I know it’s all personal preference but the Logitech version feels hotter, also the backrest is too stiff, doesn’t move with your back as well as the original. The Logitech version is still really nice though, I can see why someone would prefer it.
Hi Jesse! Late comment, but recently got a regular Embody after watching your reviews and wanted to ask if there was a transition period for you in terms of getting used to the chair? I upgraded from a Sayl! I ask because I notice my hamstrings feeling pressure when sitting on the Embody and not sure if its a seat height/depth issue or a “Im not used to sitting in the Embody” issue yet. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Honeslty I personally haven't missed it too much, but "Ahnestly" another youtuber mentioned that he was told by atlas headrest that a headrest for the embody was in the works
I spoke to two different Herman Miller associates by phone. They confirmed none of their chairs have a headrest because their studies show not having a headrest promotes better ergonomics.
I have this chair and the classic Aeron. I prefer this chair but there a few caveats. IT IS CLUNKY. There needs to be an update to this chair so that the arms are more like the Steelcase Leap or Gesture. INSANELY CLUNKY. The second thing is that the seat pan is firm and your tailbone can hurt sitting in this chair. The easiest way to adjust this is to call Herman Miller and let them guide you through each adjustment (basically, adjust seat height, pull seat pan adjustment back away from knees, position head so you are looking at the center of your monitor, and finally, adjust back roll so your head is perfectly aligned with your monitor). If you ever feel your are sitting in this chair incorrectly, lean back. It’s a chair meant to be leaned into. It is my daily driver because the Aeron keeps you in perfect posture. Most people want to occasionally lean back or side to side or tuck their ankle under one leg. Those movements are an absolute no no in the Aeron because of its rigid frame.
Such a tough choice between this and the Aeron. If the embody had forward tilt it would be an easy choice for me. I’d be using the chair primarily for gaming and play with my elbows on my thighs as I tend to lean forward so the forward tilt would take that pressure of my back.
Have you tried the gesture? Has anyone here tried the gesture? I'm looking to get it or the Logitech embody and I'm not sure which one would be best for me. I occasionally sit half cross legged or full, both will have e a headrest soon, the gesture already does, the embody will have one in like 6 months.
Something not mentioned is that you can't sit perfectly straight up in this chair without losing much of the back support due to the curve in the backrest. I wanted to like this chair as I really like the aesthetics but that was a deal breaker.
I have the Autonomous Pro chair...it sucks. The cushion is trash. Just 2-3 inches of foam. After about 30 to 40 minutes I start to get tired any two stand up and walk around. I'm 5'9" and 240 lbs. I'm working from home as a programmer/developer so I'm sitting most of the day. Would you recommend this as an all-day chair?
I think for home use, yes. A bit more forgiving with relaxation (crossing legs etc.) and the fabric feels better than mesh against bare skin. However if you really need the breathability, the aeron isn't a bad choice at all
I've been going back and forth for a week now.... Out of all the reviewers... I think you've locked in the deal... But can I wait for the potential sale soon? 🤔🤔
Both very good chairs, the Aeron def has better breathability. However I chose the embody because with the Aeron you cant really cross your legs or anything like that due to the harsh edges around the mesh while the Embody is a little bit more forgiving. Also I think the Embody looks a bit cooler haha
@@jchen_tech would you say the embody is good for working in though? I want to get one of them but I want it for both gaming and working. I’m a student so I’ll be sitting 6 hours at a time doing homework sometimes.
Biggest criticism for a gaming chair (and this effects ALL gaming chairs) is that you cannot lock the casters. I cant use it for racing games because if I use the pedals I push myself away from the wheel. What kind of gaming chair literally carries you away from the game?... @@jchen_tech You probably need to spend a little more time with it, but many users like to lean back every once in a while. Do it enough times, and it will annoy you.
