Gday, it’s great to see your back and doing well, I’ve missed the AB, Cheers Matty
You must be the biggest AB fan boy :)
Ahhhhh.... that sweet squealing sound of the old Allen Bradley how I missed it!! Glad your back...
Want more AB? check bext weeks video ruclips.net/video/dUXZ8C7U2AE/видео.html
Thank you for making this video. I love your videos and miss them when you don't make any.
Glad you like them!
I almost sent you a message asking if you were still alive yesterday
i did lol
Thanks for thinking about me, but I'm still around and ready to make some more videos :)
It's great to see and hear you back 😊
it is good to be back :)
Nice to see you making chips again old Man!
I saw you say you were having trouble posting because you were having trouble with Google.
The shot with the orange pant legs makes me think you were wearing an Orange Jumpsuit because you were in Google Jail.....
I am very much looking forward to you getting caught up now.
Glad the login problems are over. Not sure why that happened.
Had to buy new overalls because I lost some weight. I though I look like a member of the Bhagwan cult out of Oregon. But yeah it also a bit like the latest jail fashion.
Yes! Rolling back into youtube comes the metal man. Welcome back.
Scraptonium man at best :)
@@Rolingmetal aluminium, titanium, scraptonium. They're all still metals. My statement still stands :)
ok, accepted :)
Glad you are back!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Me2 :)
Finlay. WTF. U have to have a goal like to make at least one vid a week. If you don't have the time to make shop vids, just make a up to date vids or just spread ur enormous words of wisdom. They are gold :)
A video a week should be doable :) infect here is the one I have scheduled for next week: ruclips.net/video/dUXZ8C7U2AE/видео.html Not a lot of wisdom there:)
Good to see you again.
You too!
Well done pal, look forward to you making that bowl
It's going to take a while that's for sure. But I hope to get there in the end.
Doesn't have to be anything fancy :)
G’day! Nice to see another video. Love your work.
More to come!
I'm glad your doing well I heard Rustnuts got the cuties I hope he is getting better
Relative well but hope to get there :)
You do have a passion for things that spin 😁
Hi Scott, were did your videos go? Starting over just like hopper1 because of that new coppa law?
@@Rolingmetal I don't know.. maybe it was the " throw Hillary in jail" comment I made 😁
Parting off with the angle grinder mounted in the lathe works very well. I think you should give it a try.
send me a couple of pictures of your setup. Maybe I'll copy it.
@@Rolingmetal I will show it all in an upcoming video.
Even better :) And don't forget the water tray you seem to be using.
great to see the new vid
Here's next weeks video: ruclips.net/video/dUXZ8C7U2AE/видео.html
It spins! Hope that little screw can take the torque. Guess we'll see next!
It wont last long if it is screwed into the wood under power, I've seen them snap doing that.😢
The screw was fine the arbour wasn't a great success. ruclips.net/video/pcFO5Bs_6Ew/видео.html
Ha, ha! I have an angle grinder hanging next to my bench vice for parting fails. I hate parting off in the lathe. 😬
It's comforting to hear that I'm not the only one with parting issues.
b.t.w. you channel seeks to do fine these days, I predict you'll overtake me within a year :)
I have slowly invested in building a hobbychop and have a EMCO maximat 10 with the mill head. This machine is quite expensive so i did not want to make mods on it. Bought a Chinese lathe with mill head like Mustie1 has. Changed motor to a thee phase and stronger since this one is my learning machine. Put on a Yskawa inverter and managed it to run as i wanted whit a pot and so on. This inverter is a bit overkill but i came over some cheap. Took some weeks to get it, the manual is like 150 pages .) I have also some heavy duty welds, grinding machines, plasma cutter winch i love. One thing i leaned. We mig weld with Co2 since it is cheap. But i wanted to weld stainless and googled welding SS with Co2 and got nearly no hits. I tried and works without problem. At least for home work. I build a SS grill. I build SS stuff for my boats and it works great with Co2. I have so much shit going on and want to start my own channel but the time is not enough. And i have not so much skill. I came ovér a rely cool milling machine wich i hope to get running soon. I have more tools than skill or time :) I buy when the price is right. :) But i want to learn and get the time....
Thanks for a lovely comment. I also watch the mustie1 from time to time. Thought he had an old sheldon lathe with a shitload of drill chucks :) I never tried to weld SS but I have a small spool of that stuff. And you should be able to weld it with a normal CO2 gas according to what I read. Last time I bought a new cylinder they actually charged me for aragonite gas. It's somewhat more expensive but not twice. Lucky for me I caught their mistake :) Funny I actually also have a maximat 10 with mill. But it is not running, it need electrical work. I'll probably sell at some point. Maybe I should do a video about it before :) Good luck with your machining endeavours and maybe I'll see you around on youtube one day.
@@Rolingmetal I will not sell mine. It is in real good shape and i bought it like an investment. The price on them are ridiculous so try to fix the one you have. It should not be so hard to fix the electric.
I have read that it was a lathe made for gunsmiths. I plan to make a revolver :) LOL...
Boats and the stuff around it is a big interest of mune therefore the need of SS welding. I also hace a mig wich i aluwld with but it is hard. It builds a load of mtrl, and then i have to grind the form. But it eorks well for fixing proppellers and so. My next buy will be a ACDS tig. Had one, A miller but it was made 4 2 phase nd i did not have fuses enough. Sold it with profit though :)
@@Rolingmetal I would love if you made some vids about your maximat, plz. About Co2 i try to come over firefightingcylinders or what the name is. Winch is out of date. They are nearly free. Just hang them uppside down and make a adapter to the weld regulator. Tada! I also have dedicated cylinders and here is it the firefighting selling companies that reloads them much cheaper than ordinary gas companies.
Is the gas mixture for fire extinguishers the same as for welding. I believe there is a certain amount of inert gases (argon halon) in the CO2 I normaly use. and that is probably why you can use it for SS
Funny I actually got a revolver :) A family heirloom with a story. Maybe I should do a video about it :) Although I'm not really into guns. My maximat isn't in great shape but I did get it for a real good deal. Also a bit of an investment, better then keeping money on the bank. It's the model that has a cabinet with lots of drawers, I think it has a special name but I forgot.
Like your videos a lot, much humor and critical self reflection on your work.
In this video, to me, your voice sounds troubled, hope you're fine and healthy,
best regards
Thanks, glad you liked it. Haven't had the greatest time lately but that will change now google is letting me back in :)

Wearing gloves while running a lathe or mill is very dangerous. Seen several bad accidents over my career. Dislocated wrist, Broken fingers and one finger that had to be amputated.
GOD bless
Safety first
We want you all in one piece.
People keep saying that and they are probably right but I get such cold hand these days, probably a side effect of some medication I need to take.
But cold hand are also a security risk as it will definitely slow down the reaction times :)
If i might offer some advice, face off before drilling so the drill has an even surface to cut. As you saw the drill was being influenced by an uneven cut.
You are right, that 12mm drill was shaking a bit.
I have that mistake before, and will probably make it again :)
I do all my parting off with a hacksaw :)
I’m working on all the loose bits that make parting impossible
Lot's of amateur are probably using a hacksaw of angle grinder.
I'm not the only one with parting problems. But maybe one day I"ll get it right :)
Rolingmetal just so it’s clear you use the hacksaw with the chuck spinning.
I often make a little grove so the hack saw starts exactly where I want it.
It’s good if you can then turn the piece around and face off the saw marks.
I like it better than a grinder. The other day I sawed through a 2” / 50mm bar in only a few minutes.
Actually I did 4 of them one after the other and I was happy to get the last one finished. :)
Ahh the sweet sweet sound of the old Allen Bradley. Thanks :)
Go enjoy it a bit more, in my first wood turning video in years: ruclips.net/video/dUXZ8C7U2AE/видео.html
@@Rolingmetal Just let the demon of how to build a power feed enter your being, Roling. Let the alluring thoughts of improved surface finishes wash over you. Your will is not your own. (It belongs to Banggood!) lol
I choose to believe that my will is my own :) But real freedom does not exist, it is a figment of imagination. But better not dwell too much on topics like these, they will only lead to depression.
@@Rolingmetal You know that old saying: "Happiness is devising some kind of power feed." :)
@@johnstrange6799 lol. But making something does give a certain amount of satisfaction :)
"Precision is optional". Love it.
BTW, how long did you soak the wood blanks for?
For most of the thing I do in the lathe precision is overrated, :)
The bowl blanks were under water for most of the time since I made them last summer. I had them out for a few months during the winter but put hem back under water when I wasn't able to work in them because of medical issues.
ruclips.net/video/pcFO5Bs_6Ew/видео.html
Hope your holding screw will be ok, looks a little light maybe, good luck.
Al.
Hi Al, pretty standard size but they do break. Best only use them to allow another type of holding to be cut in the blank and not for full bowl turning .
I was afraid I would take of to much of the welding and then I might spin of. It held up of but the tapered arbour wasn't a great success. ruclips.net/video/pcFO5Bs_6Ew/видео.html
So next you mount a chain saw to balance the blank?
Funny, I actually though about that. Maybe if I can find an electric one the the flea market. If we even get flea markets again...
That final shot wasn't terrifying at all...
I should have used coaster wheel with a brake under the wood lathe.
