When our boys were in middle school in the 70’s we were going through horrible yelling, arguing every morning to get them up and out the door for school. One evening we called a family meeting and presented them with their own alarm clock and told them that from now on they would be responsible for getting to school each day. If they didn’t make it they would have to suffer the consequences. After one late day to school they suddenly became responsible teens. Amazing.

Exactly! Our children need to learn responsibility. Pampering them only makes them irresponsible and selfish. We want them to become adults, not remain childish. Let them miss school if they miss the bus. They will learn to be responsible for themselves.

I’m not sure if your seats are leather so I don’t know if this will work but we use a cleaner called Pro by Bissell. They sell it in the pet store. It has been the best cleaner ever. I’ve sprayed that in spots (I should say doused) and it literally will sink into the stain while you’re watching. Let it set and go back and clean it. Hope it works for you. It sure has saved us.

Rescue cats make the best companions! Be gentle...no loud noises and if he is a scratcher...you can wrap him in a towel like a burrito which can help him feel more secure while you are medicating. To save money, see if a pharmacy will fill your pets prescriptions instead of getting them from the vet.
You can ask the vet to call in the prescriptions.
All pharmacies will fill most pets prescriptions.
Walmart and Harris Teether will probably be the cheapest.
And CVS/Target's CVS Pharmacy will probably be the highest.

We found a cat, or rather he found us. We put his photo in the paper and the family who lost him got in touch. He got to meet his brother again, but they let us keep him after seeing how attached he was to us. He never lost the gratitude because we rescued him when he was so lost in a big field. He heard the voice of someone calling on the horses, and thought it was a call for him. Best cat ever!

My son and daughter in law live on same property and driveway ( long) my daughter in love and granddaughter fought every morning because she would miss the bus and not want to get up, I bought granddaughter an alarm clock. It was supposed to be for the bus shelter but she wanted it in her room. She determined her wake up time and routine. I set an alarm on my watch for 7:05 which gave me time to get shoes and outdoor gear on. I stop by her house below ours and we walk down hill to shelter, turn on the twinkle lights and light the candles in the windows ( we are in Alaska-and it is nice shelter my husband built for her father years ago) we got an old heavy rubber lined curtain for doorway to block the wind. I take about 15 to 30 minutes out of morning routine and we make lasting memories. Bus arrives, I wish the driver and kids looking out window a good morning…Twinkle lights are turned off, candles blown off and I walk with the dogs back up driveway for a second cup of coffee to warm up. This isn’t advice …just a share😊

Oh my goodness Cas the cat story reminds me of us. My kids found a beautiful ginger long haired rag doll cat with ticks all over its face. The animal lovers we are, took this cat to the vet. It wasnt chipped so it stayed at the vet for a week to see if anyone would claim him. He was stinky and dirty too. No one picked him up so the vet said we could adopt him if we'd like. Of course we did. Before he left the vet we had him fixed, worned and vaccinated. Several hundred dollars later. He was only young. Now 7 years later he's the most beautiful and loving cat and we love that stray cat so much. You're awesome Cas. Love your videos. And good job to Emily too. 😊

As someone who does animal rescue, mostly cats, THANK YOU for taking this sweet boy in!!! And yes the vet is SO expensive. He was most likely a pet or around humans otherwise he probably wouldn’t let you near him. There’s a pill shooter on Amazon or i stick pills in a Sheba meat stick or crush and put in a liquid treat like churu or delectables. I make my own Cat pee remover that works better than the enzyme cleaner. 16oz hydrogen peroxide 1tsp dawn 1Tbsp baking soda. But for furniture/mattresses i pour on baking soda then heavily spray or pour a bottle of peroxide with a few squirts dawn in it. Peroxide brings urine to the top and soda soaks it up. Repeat until smell is gone. 🍀

Except when she came back the next day, the teacher had an after school assignment for make up. I still had that drive in to get her, but alerted her that every time she didn't make the bus that wasn't excused by me, the assignments would likely get harder and potentially longer. Behavior changed. Different strokes. Not for every kid, but solved my missed bus problem.

Nature's Miracle is your friend. Warning, it will smell worse before it gets better while the enzymes are breaking down the bacteria in the urine. Also, get some charcoal air fresheners and stacks of newspaper. The smell will seep into the newspaper over time and you can throw it away. Also, an ozone machine could help. My daughter had a dead rat behind the cabin air freshener in her Prius. It was the worst smell. While all of the hacks were working (the newspaper, the charcoal air fresheners, etc) we put a couple bars of Irish Spring under the seats. We put the soap in old socks. It helped cover up the smell temporarily so we didn't gag every time we had to get in the car

Thank you for the “laughs” this morning … but my biggest THANK YOU for rescuing that sweet kitty. I “adopted” 4 feral (who became not feral) 16 years ago. In 2023, TP was the last to cross that Rainbow Bridge. I didn’t regret taking those babies in for one second.

Here's an idea for a video in the near future- makeover for the van! How to organize your van/truck/car to keep it clean (well cleaner) and organized! Crate for the cat, seatbelt or crate for the dog, WATERPROOF covers for the main seats; other sorts of supplies like bring-back bags for grocery shopping, emergency supplies like for cleaning up after a "spill" (paper towels, ziplock bags), umbrella, non-spill coffee travel mug...could be a great video! Get an ozone machine and let it run in your car overnight with the windows up. It’s not good for anyone to breathe it while it’s on. ozone machines are really good at removing insanely difficult odors from a home.

Wow that was a real life day! And you were smiling through it and fitting in a bath and mud mask with so many accomplishments, not all the ones you planned. And bless you for taking in that handsome feral cat who chose your family. We took in 2 abandoned 6 week old kittens, because I just retired and to replace my 22 staff members I decided I needed 2 kittens to add to our present 2 older female cats who don’t really get along. Yes the vet bills for the wee kittens were huge yet were expected. And then the kittens gave all of them eye infections. One of the older cats went from an eye infection to a full blown systemic infection. She stopped eating and drinking and moving. I actually was forcing her to take in fluids via a water dropper. Many antibiotics and 2 rounds of intravenous meds and rehydration later, she fully recovered. That was an unexpected over 1000$ fee! Yet we love our pets. And we love your videos Cas and your willingness to be translucent with your crazy life that is full of wonders. You are so inspiring! Your ideas and organization and clutterbug concepts are brilliant! You truly add to so many people’s lives! TYTYTY!❤

I'm so glad you saved Mr. Bojangles! He's going to be a sweetheart - orange cats are the best. I suggest wrapping him in a towel before you try to pill him. You may also want to buy or make a pill giving tool - i put the pill in a not used gerlneric monostat applicator (I bought a pack with the tablets just for the applicator), get that fairly deep in his mouth, and press the plunger. If you're not game for that, you may want to try putting the pill in a pill pocket or squash it in some processed cheese or mortadella.
The car seat is probably going to need replacing, but it's always good to try saturating any peed on textiles with oxyclean, waiting a few hours then using a carpet cleaner to suck it all out.
    Good luck!

Put one of those dish drying pads in the bottom of the cat carrier for all future rides to the vet. Use double sided tap to stick it down. Get some from the dollar store. Never let your cat roam the car, especially while in him untamed state.

Make a mixture of 2 table spoons of baking soda, 1 table spoon of dawn dish soap and 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. Make a paste. Adjust Measurements as needed depending on how big the area is. Then apply to area and let set for a few minutes and rinse. You may need to apply a few more times to get rid of the smell completely. Works great if your dog gets all skunky. Works better than tomato juice. I got the recipe from a vet that I went to years ago.

Even after I cleaned and painted every room/every surface....the smell was still horrific. "Angry Orange" made a little difference. I think you would be happiest though, getting a new seat? Hello sweet Clutterbug Goddess!
I hope today is much better than yesterday when you posted about your fiasco.
This is a cat hint to share with all of you Bugs out there.
I have three indoor cats. One likes to sleep downstairs in the junk room. I started decluttering and the beautiful hand made pillows (some needlepoint, some made by me out of French damask linen napkins) had grown FUR! Lots of fur! I can’t take them apart, so I couldn’t wash them. Also, dry cleaning would have been ridiculously expensive.
Anyway after some research I bought Bounce Pet Hair & Lint Guard dryer sheets ( I NEVER use dryer sheets)
I put two to three pillows in the dryer on low with soaking wet tea towels and several of the dryer sheets.
It removed most of the cat hair on the pillows the first time (about 20 minutes)
A few had to go through the cycle twice. It’s a miracle 🐱😇❤️👍 Now I am happy and so are the cats.
I hope this hack will benefit all cat (and dog) owning Bugs. 🦋🦗🐞🐝
