Visiting Perú is a transformative experience. It's like visiting an entire universe of history, culture, ethnography, and culinary discovery all within one nation's borders. I liken it to visiting similarly chaotic ancient hubs, such as Cairo or Istanbul, which ultimately make travel so worthwhile and culturally enriching. The city is that incredibly multilayered in historical terms. Of course, Cusco is on another level, due to the breathtaking location and uniformly well-preserved concentration of ancient architecture from pre-Spanish conquest days right on through the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Cusco is a museum city, but Lima's old core is equally worthy as an open-air museum destination. The convents and monasteries alone are like historical time travel venues. These historic cities are among the best in Latin America to enjoy ancient sites without having to travel to Europe or the Near East.

I’m peruvian and I LOVE my city of Lima. Lima has so many things and yes touristic wise people mainly go to Miraflores. Not sure what district you guys stayed but it seemed some areas aren’t 100% safe, so I’m glad you guys didn’t have issues with anyone. In Downtown Lima in Plaza san Martin. There’s the beautiful The Hotel Bolivar was built in 1924. Very fancy hotel the first modern Hotel in Peru. The hotel, now is known for its haunted stories and guests seeing weird things happening. Also, where you walked through Jiron de la Union. For many decades it was the most important boulevards of the city, often described as the most aristocratic, where many of the most affluent citizens of the city and most powerful men around the world would meet. Subsequently, with the deterioration of the center of Lima, the Jirón de la Unión lost its aristocratic character and became completely commercialized. In the 1970s, the third through ninth blocks of the street were restricted solely for pedestrian use. In the 1980s, the Historic Centre of Limasuffered through a period of decadence in which the economic recession and the increase of crime drove away visitors. At this time, the Jirón was converted into a commercial emporium with a great quantity of abandoned store property and a large number of street sellers. It was not until the next decade until the reorganization of the historic center took place at the orders of the mayor Alberto Andrade Carmona which allowed the Jirón to reactivate its economy. Currently, the Jirón de la Unión has returned to being a commercial center; however, it has long lost its aristocratic character. The last change that has been made is the demolition of the concrete benches placed in the 1970s that were built with the intent to pedestrianize the road. These have been replaced with new benches inscribed with the coat of arms of each of the different departments of Peru.
We love Lima! An absolutely wonderful city that we can't wait to visit again in the future 🥰 And yes, we had absolutely zero problems in Lima safety wise. Everyone we met was super kind!

August 30th is a holiday (Santa Rosa de Lima) you were really close to the "fountain of wishes" you should have visited. The reason why you see a flag without the "escudo" is because the 1st building is a religious building, flags with the escudo are meant for state buildings.

Just in case your question about the coat of arms hasn't been answered yet. By law, the coat of arms can only be present on flags located in state buildings or used for official purposes. Flags on regular houses, can't have the coat of arms, just the red and white part. We have 2 coat of arms. The one used by the goverment, wich is surrounded by palm and bay leaves, and the one used by the armed forces is surrounded by red and white kind of like drapes things.
@@WyattandReyka In 2023, Central Restaurant earned the prestigious title of The World’s Best Restaurant, while in 2024, Maido Restaurant secured the No. 5 spot on the list. Although Peruvian gastronomy remains somewhat underrated in the US, its influence has spread globally, with high-end Peruvian restaurants now thriving in major cities like London, Paris, Madrid, Singapore, Bangkok, Sydney, Tokyo, Cape Town, and Dubai. 😊

August 30th is a holiday (Santa Rosa de Lima) you were really close to the "fountain of wishes" you should have visited. The reason why you see a flag without the "escudo" is because the 1st building is a religious building, flags with the escudo are meant for state buildings.
Muchas gracias por aclarar!!! Tenemos un video que viene mañana sobre comida peruana ojalá que lo disfrutes! 🥰
Perú is Love!
Peru is Love, Beauty, and Wonder🙏🇵🇪
Such a cute couple! Hope you guys are enjoying your time in Lima.
We love it!! And thanks so much lol you are so sweet. Can't wait to come back to Lima! We are editing a Machu Picchu video next 🙏🇵🇪 🥰
Welcome to Perú my friends it is a landscape country so mucho amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊. ❤ Perú top mundial
So beautiful!!!!
I tried some flavored churros at the stand you past around 16:03 and they were just soooo good
That's epic!!! Wish we could go back in time and try some of those hahaha

Nuestra placer amiga!! 🙏🇵🇪🥰
Bienvenido al Perú 🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪😎
Love the video guys ... but the subway ?? ... c'mon 🤣 🤣 🤣... liked the huancaina sauce detail tough 😊
Perfect sunset lighting 🌅 for the last take !!
Take care guys and thank you for sharing !!
Thanks so much Ernesto!! ❤️🙏🇵🇪 And yeah, we just looooove Subway haha. At least we tried it with some huancaina sauce like you noticed 😂
Take care as well and thanks for being here. Really glad you enjoyed!! 🤗
Guys! Omg I didn’t know you had a RUclips Channel hahaha we met on the plane from Lima to Chile!
Hahaha yesss!!! Hi!!! Yeah we record RUclips videos. So fun to meet you again virtually this time. Hope the wedding was fun 🥰🙏
@@WyattandReyka It was, indeed! So much has happened ever since 🤣
I’ll be in NYC next month, so if u have any advice I would really appreciate it 🙌🏻
Hahaha that’s awesome!! 🥰
For New York City, definitely see a broadway musical show. They are insane. Also, maybe see a sports game. American Football season is now, as is baseball, so it’d be cool for you to have a USA sporting experience!
Also, eat a BUNCH of food. New York has the most diverse food options in the world, with all the immigrants from different countries.
Cheers friend!! Hope we cross paths again soon 🥰❤️
Nice video, love it. I'm pleased that you enjoy your stay here in Lima and maybe other cities in Peru? Keep enjoying.
Thanks so much!! Yup, we explored a few other cities. Unfortunately at the end of our Peru trip we got VERY sick (either from altitude in Cuzco or some bad food we still don't know) and had to leave... Next time we hope to explore more and try more food. We are editing a Machu Picchu video next 🙏🇵🇪
Hope you enjoyed your time in Lima!! For what I see in the video, your visit was during Easter. Most of Peruvians are Catholic (aprox 75%), that's why you saw so many people on the streets and in the Main Square.
Yes this was recorded during Easter! And we love Peru! It's such an amazing place. Can't wait to share more of adventures in the wonderful country! ❤️🇵🇪
I'm glad you're having such a great time.
It was so fun!!! Can't wait to come back.
Weekends, always packed .
Sooooo busy!!
Peru is wonderful!! Thank you so much for travel inside Perú .
Peru is so wonderful!! Thank you

Lima es maravillosa
Siiiii
Hermosa pareja, cuidense y pasenla de maravillas en Perú
Muchas gracias! 🙏🇵🇪🥰
There has always been American chains throughout my life lol
It’s there so tourists can enjoy a taste of their home. Also, Peruvians like American everything 😊
That Subway in Peru was great lol. Us tourists loved it 😂
And Peruvians eat that American fast food a lot?
Downtown Lima has the same vibe as in Madrid in Spain
We agree! Very similar vibe
LIMA is the city with most Pyramids in the World, called HUACAS where the cultures LIMA ,INCA, WARI were living in here for 4000 years
WE HAVE TO VISIT THEM! SOUNDS AWESOME!
I envy you with pleasure, thanks for sharing and welcome to my most humble country Peru.🇵🇪
We LOVE Peru!!! Really love that you enjoyed this video and we can’t wait to share our Machu Picchu vlog 🥰

XDDD
Ummmmmmmmm

Bienvenidos a Perú
Graciass!!!
Peru is actually the 5th country in blue berry production in the world....
WOAH! That's crazy. Just another reason to absolutely love Peru, haha.
Super helpful! Thank you
Enjoy your stay in Perú 👌
Thank you!! 🙏
Welcome to Perú friends i recommend goind to barranco
Thank you!! We will add Barranco to the list!!
Guys before your Peruvian Gastronomy video you need to eat at Isolina Restaurant and Mayta Restaurant. They are both highly recommended. 😊
Okay thank you!! We actually already filmed the next video, but we will add those to our list of things to try! 🥰
@@WyattandReyka In 2023, Central Restaurant earned the prestigious title of The World’s Best Restaurant, while in 2024, Maido Restaurant secured the No. 5 spot on the list. If that wasn't impressive enough, Peru has been recognized as the World's Leading Culinary Destination 11 times over the past 12 years. 😊
We'll have to try it next time!!! Thank you so much!!! 🥰
hay Perú, hay like
Hi!! 🥰🤗
bienvenidos Perú es un país acogedor y lima es una ciudad amistosa
Ambos maravillosos! Gracias! Saludos 🙏🇵🇪🥰
If you travel a lot… eating subway to have a home feeling is alright. But eating subway in Peru is like 🫣
People can eat anything they want. I’m Peruvian and sometime eating Peruvian three times a day is also tiring. Plus, they’ve been travelling for so long away from home.
Haha yeah like Alan said, sometimes eating the same food in any country can tire us out. Even if it's our favorite food, like Ramen in Japan, Gyros in Greece, or Malasadas in Hawaii/Portugal. Sometimes food gets old haha
Most capital cities in Latin America will be pretty modern...I dare you to vist the surrounding areas to really get a sense of the culture and the people...
Plaza de armas isn't always that crowded, maybe it was sunday or a holiday, also depends on the weather
It was semana santa! this was recorded a long time ago haha. We are quite procrastinators when it comes to editing lol
It would be nice to see the huancaina sauce all over the world, right? It's absolutely delicious!
YES!! So good!!
Guys Cuzco or the jungle is what are you looking for. Not big city’s
True!! We head to Cuzco next. 👍
Nice city and the food is amazing!!!!!
Hope you had an amazing stay in my homecountry!
We love it!! And thanks so much lol you are so sweet. Can't wait to come back to Lima! We are editing a Machu Picchu video next 🙏🇵🇪 🥰
Genial Kids!!!!
gracias amigo!!!
I live in Lima in Jesus Maria district, beautiful to walk around here. Sooo happy you enjoyed your stay in Peru, my home country and so proud you selected it for your trips. Please come back in the future. Blessings. !
Lima is insanely beautiful!! We cannot wait to return. Cheers and take care! We are editing a Machu Picchu video next 🙏🇵🇪
Lima e' una città molto bella
Perú food is the Best!
SO GOOD!
OMG, I can't believe they found blueberries in Peru! 😲 Those markets are a treasure trove.
Such a treasure trove!! They were insanely delicious 🥰😋
Welcome to Lima Wyatt and Reyka. Please... Don't eat Subways anymore in the food capital of South America 🤣 Try to taste all the peruvian food you see. 🇵🇪 Nice video. :)
😂 hahaha but subway is sooooo good.
Haha thanks for the kind words. We are going to publish an entire video on Peruvian food tomorrow so hopefully you like it! Thanks so much for watching, writing that little message, and being part of our travel community! ❤️
