I'm Peruvian and everyone is welcome to Lima!!! I was not born in Lima (I'm from the jungle, Pucallpa) but Lima is charming, chaotic and beautiful with the most beautiful mixtures, the region between Asia and the new world, its diversity is reflected in its famous gastronomy, being the gastronomic capital of the Americas, Lima offers the best restaurants in the world.

I'm Peruvian from Lima and I would not say it's the best city in South America. There are many cities better than Lima, even within Peru. Lima gets worse every year as well, I left and now live between US and Italy, best choice I made was leaving.

@@DesignedInNola Come on bro, if Colombians say they have the best cities with all the Colombian hired killers, the gota a gota and the rampant prostitution, we Peruvians have even more right! Lima is not perfect, but it has the best food in Latin America and you can't deny that, in addition to the richest history of any city founded by the Spanish. Remember that Lima governed the entire South American region for more than 100 years.

Lima is my fave city in SA. As I strolled through the bustling streets of Miraflores, the warm sun on my skin and the smell of freshly cooked ceviche in the air, I felt a sense of vibrancy and energy that's hard to find elsewhere. I stopped at a local café and enjoyed a rich Peruvian coffee, watching the lively scene unfold before me, as the day drew to a close, I headed to the Malecón, the scenic cliffside promenade that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The sunset was stunning, with the sky turning pink and orange as the waves crashed against the shore.
I gazed out at the breathtaking view, I felt grateful for this experience in Lima. The city's unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty had captured my heart, and I couldn't help but think that Lima was the best city in South America to live in. The warm and welcoming people, the delicious food, the vibrant neighborhoods it all came together to create a truly special place, really a very special place.

Cusco, Puno, Ayacucho, Arequipa and Lima: Miraflores, Barranco and other cities have their appeal and are a delight for our eyes. We were last year in OXAPAMPA and POZUZO for 5 days. It is another experience since it is a different place from Lima and the other states we were able to taste the best butter and meat and good coffee etc., since this city was created by Austro German people.. Miraflores in Lima reminded me of a blend between Santa Monica and Malibu due to its green cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Lima is a wonderful city, as vast as LA, and its traffic can get as jammed as in LA. I stayed in Miraflores for the first week, and for the second week, I was at an Airbnb in Barranco. The traffic could get hectic. Both Miraflores and Barranco are the safest and best options to stay in Lima. They have the best hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, bars, etc., all easily accessible by walking distance.

Hello from Peru and many thanks for your video. We limeños are very humble people. We know we have one of the best cities in Latin America , but we prefer to hide it , because some people from other regions in Latin America will try to put Lima way down on the list. I appreciate your honesty and good quality videos. Lima was the main center of Viceroyalty that is why its colonial arquitecture is so wonderful. We take care a lot about our Parks because we love them. We are watering public gardens using tanker trucks, what has double value. The beauty is not free. Lima is becoming the new pretty girl in the neighbourhood. New big Airport City, New subway, etc. Even the shanty areas are made out of hard working class people with thousands and thousands of micro-enterpreneurs.

Thank you for the honest view showcasing a little bit of everything. As you probably realized, the contrasts between neighborhoods like Villa el Salvador and Miraflores are part of Lima's everyday life full of inequality and unfortunate situations. Overall, it looks like you had a safe and pleasant stay. As I tell people abroad: it's great for visiting, but no so much for being born and raised. Social mobility is nearly impossible across generations, but working class Peruvians struggle very hard to break through and improve their quality of life. You are very welcome whenever you feel like visiting again. Perhaps, you can try getting a place in more "average" places like Surquillo (next to Miraflores) or Lince (next to San Isidro) so you get a better sense of how everyday life is for the middle class. Thanks again!

Lima, the City of Kings, was the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru, one of the largest, richest and most powerful Viceroyalties of Overseas Spain, therefore Lima was the most important city of the Viceroyalty where political power was concentrated. economic and military, in addition to ecclesiastical and commercial power. Lima was the beloved city of the Spanish Empire and was as modern as Madrid. Viceregal Lima not only enjoyed a high cultural level, it also enjoyed an exacerbated wealth and luxury reflected in the beautiful architecture of its palaces, churches, cathedrals, museums, universities and mansions of European Renaissance style,... fused with the Inca contribution.

I can confirm that Lima is one fabulous place: ancient history and ruins within the city limts, wonderful historic architecture, a chaotic urban vibe that makes you happy to be alive, a local culinary culture that is quite simply world class and just plain delicious ('suspiro de limeña' is one of the finest desserts I have ever eaten), the best anthropology museum in South America and some of the friendliest people anywhere. Also, the shopping for indigenous artisanal crafts is extraordinarily diverse, especially at a fantastic shop/gallery called Dédalo, in Barranco. ❤❤

Hello Richard. Lima is a discovering . The city has been improving on every aspect. In the 80's and 90's due to Shining Path and MRTA was an abandoned place. But after 2k year , is been improving its beauty . Also abundance of recycled water for watering parks and gardens. Top knotch restaurants + milions of soles invested in restauration of squares , plazas, colonial streets, etc. Besides this, it is a cheap city and safer than most of others cities in Latin America. Peru has one of the lowest homicide rate as 6 per 100k people, data from 2023.

My late mother was entrusted by the ministry of housing then ruled by the military (1970's) to break a land invasion that took place in the northern part of Lima. She mentioned this stretch of arid land in the southern part of town. When she asked the leaders of tha take over to check the land they then agreed to abandon the taken land for their new promised land and peacefully moved onto what is now known as "Industrial park Villa El Salvador"....... she then conducted a demographics study on the first inhabitants. There is a small pathway that bears her name as a tribute for her contributions.

I just launched Équipe International in Bogota and will be starting similar activities in Lima, and eventually throughout all of Central and South America. We operate like a 'for profit' company, however we give all of our profits to people in need. We provide food (aquaponics), clothing (hemp w/ cotton), housing (rammed earth and redevelopment of urban structures), transportation (cargo bikes with electric motors) and health (natural products/scalar technology).
