So wet cut gives precision but difficult to see the hair condition. Dry cut helps to see where the hair ends split, but we must be aware of the cut that we make because the scissor might push the hair guide line causing uneven cut.

I find that you really have to have the right pair of amazing scissors to achieve an amazing dry cut.
Most scissors aren’t made for dry cutting so I think it’s 1/2 technique 1/2 good equipment

glossy I’m not a hair stylist but I would say let him cut it wet then when you look its uneven then you can take half of your hair up tied in to a bun or any thing that’ll hold it then cut the ends after it’s good then you could take another portion but small then cut it like the same as your last one because your last one is it guide line and do the same to your hair all the way to the top

I don't let the barber wash my hair at the salon because I'm afraid of getting a stroke from leaning on the sink. I wish I could, cause my cuts looked nicer after the barber washes it, but I just can't get over that fear. However small the odds of a stroke might be, once you realize you were the unlucky one, it's too late for regret. Now I wash at home right before going to the barber
My actual experience of a sink wash is that it always hurt, and it was difficult to move my head after. Even more reason I probably shouldn't

Is there a hair cut stylist database? I used to have a stylist who would cut my hair dry and it came out beautifully every time. I lost touch with him and have struggled to find anyone who can cut my hair as precise and beautifully as him. I’m hair depressed now. I’m in Los Angeles county. Thank you!

Dry hair means scissors need to be of good above average quality. What kind of scissors do you use and how do you determine to switch them out or get them sharpened again? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I have a few pair I switch back and forth from. I use Hanzo’s now, one for dry cutting one for wet. I also use nics for all my men’s cutting and one pair just for slide cutting. They way they feel in my hand is how I determine when I switch. If you want I can make a video of them all an explain with them in action, so you can get a visual. Cool?

what i wish every place in san antonio would do as far as partaking in dry cutting but they all do wet cutting and they get too scissor happy and i end up not noticing my hair is messed up until it dries :( because of this i have severe anxiety of trusting anyone cutting my hair wet

Thanx bro! Always wanted to cut hair this lock down gives me the opp. Lady wants her splits done...

    • @thcrtn

Didnt go too bad, cut in a mid dry/wet state. I see issues with split ends. Not in the form of layers but random singular strands that are so high up n "peppered" that it would be a 22 hour long process... So i just took 1.5" off the bottom so its mainly fresh ends... She has tailbone long Hair so its not drastically shorter now. But if i was ontop of it i would have not let her go to someone whos trying to "doll her up" with a hint of artistic style... They don't know she keeps it n one or 2 braids 100% of the time its not in a messy bun. Its like the splits from a "styling" 3 years ago are showing hints... Sigh.

would it be better to do dry when adding layers to THICK hair? Wavy in the back straight in the front.

Hi Nick. It would be awesome if you could post a list of recommended salons/barbers for men where they cut dry hair. My hair is wavy (not curly) and I have yet to find a place in LA that does this or worse, when you ask, they refuse so you have to get up and cancel. I'm getting tired of having to correct the shelving, poor weighting, and cowlicks caused by stylists/barbers who cut wet, blow dry, and use product to disguise problems that ultimately surface next day if I air dry or blow dry and don't use any finishing products. Thanks.

My hairdresser cut my wet hair with a clipper today. Is that even bad for the hair when your hair is colored. And wet

Nick. My family has naturally biracial thick heavy curly hair...but we all relax and straight iron allot....what your recommendation on wavy curly hair being cut dry. That's always an issue because allot of us girls wear out hair both curly and straight.

    • @nickmirabella1

BrookeLynne T. Hi! Great question. What I like to do for curly hair is blow it straight iron it and then cut it. So the length of the cut has structure and is even. I’ll also add the layers for movement. Then I’ll wash is and style it curly or have the client come back another day with it styled curly to save time. Then I’ll go threw the cut and make a few adjustments so it has more balance when it’s curly. Cutting it the second time when it’s curly won’t really effect the style when it’s straight because the majority of the cuts structure will remain the same. I hope this answers the question. :)

Brick and Mirror Beauty thank you so much. I've worked in so many salons that hate dry cuts but its my go to with women with thicker denser hair or with hair that has curl or waves because I've always learned not to cut into curls and dry hair is true hair. Thanks for this video and the reply....as a 5th year stylist and mua I'm still constantly learning and wanting more skills! 😉

So if im taking the tips off of someone with very long hair, should i cut it dry? if i would cut it wet and then the hair dries and then some hair dries up a bit wavy, the straight line i cut would be distorted right?
or would hair dry up in different ways every time and i should cut it wet?

    • @nickmirabella1
      @nickmirabella1  4 года назад

I like to smooth it out straight , and then clean it up. So when it dries you won’t have any stragglers out of place if it waves .
