I built a gaming pc that sits in my av rack primarily to run a golf simulator in the basement and also serves as my office computer on the main floor. We had a lot of cat 6 cables run when the house was built which was key to utilizing KVM extenders. Now I've started gaming in the home theater as well. It's not for the feint of heart getting 4 monitors (golf Sim projector, golf Sim TV, office monitor, home theater projector) running smoothly at all times with duplicated and extended windows desktops but man it is slick now that it's running smoothly.
Wow, nice setup!
I’m gonna fucking lose my fucking mind. This is my ultimate dream setup - full blown hands free ultimate console setup to pair with my CX65. Saw your OG video and passed it on it for a few while things got out of beta. Today’s the day baby.
Just like you, I will be building my 4090 monster machine, to play games in glorious 4k 100FPS orgasmic quality. Hands free, running with emulation station to truly play any and every single game in existence maxed to the balls . Thank you for this my friend.
Let's go! Nice!
Playnite Launcher also has a similar feature like Big Picture Mode, it's a nice alternative if you don't use Steam much.
Cool!
This is extremely helpful.
Awesome, thanks!
Had the issue where the check box to remove the password wasn’t there. Here’s what fixed it for me: make sure you go into windows settings and remove all the windows hello options (I had pin and fingerprint reader enabled). Also, if one of them is greyed out, there’s a slider right underneath those that says something like “require windows hello to sign in” make sure that’s off. Then the check box should appear allowing you to disable the password.
I had the same problem, thanks for your help!
Now it asks for my Microsoft act password
@@indreke5683 switch to a local account and remove the password or pin from the local account. It will boot up straight to the desktop
Great video brotha
Thanks!
Thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
Thanks!
You bet!
Cool video.
Thanks!
Great video! 👍
Thank you! 👍
thanks for the video. One question 🙋🏻♂️ What about the pc noise? Is it loud? Have you managed to keep it as quiet as possible?
I'm back to having the PC down in the basement but gaming the living room. It's awesome that way because it doesn't matter how loud the PC is. I can run fans on max and not hear a thing. :) If the PC was in the room though, yes, you would want to make sure it's set up to flow good air and adjust fan settings and whatnot for reasonable noise levels. Even when I had the PC in the room, I didn't find it an issue.
a good PSU will make almost no noise, dont save on buying a garbage PSU, get a good one and you will have no noise
Great video! I'm building a PC for this exact reason. I'm not super familiar with big picture mode, but is there a way to talk to my friends through it? I usually use discord and wasn't sure how easy it would be to set up as a console experience.
This is built right into Steam now. It works so well.
@Techthusiasm Wow that's awesome! Thanks for the super quick reply. You seem to be one of the only RUclipsrs I can find covering this stuff so recently it's refreshing.
There are a couple videos on PC gaming in the living room here on the channel. Thanks!
u can control the desktop with steam check the desktop steam config
What about adding rums in games from other launchers like the blizzard launcher?
You can do it, but you have to go back and forth between BPM and desktop mode, IIRC.
I just set everything up, it works perfectly but it’s a bit slow for steam to start
Can I share my steam library across multiple windows accounts? I wanna set one account up with only steam and booting into steam big picture, but also have another windows account and use it as a "normal" pc experience. Since my desk is right next to my tv in my living room. I just don't want to have to download a game twice (one partition per account). So if my console account downloads a game the normal pc experience account has the game downloaded as well. To select the windows user I would buy a wireless mouse. Do you know if that is possible?
Steam does have some level of account sharing, yes. I believe you should be able to do this with family sharing. store.steampowered.com/promotion/familysharing
Nice, I've created simple boot menu with two elements. PC(normal boot) and Console(Steam big picture mode) and I can turn on a pc with a controller.
Yes!
How’d you do that
@@BroganTagman ask chatgpt. It's super easy to setup.
In the last video, who makes the remote control you were using to turn on the PC? I looked but the camera wasnt focused enough to read the box you held up!
This was the switch. amzn.to/3VJ4yhC
@@Techthusiasm Thanks! Sorry for the double comment... Wasn't sure what comment you would see...
Can you put it in rest mode and then turn in on properly? In my case when I try to turn it on again, there is sound but I get a black screen
Usually, yes. Sometimes wake up isn't always 100% stable, and it needs a quick reboot.
I had an issue where if even after unchecking the box it still asks for a pin, just remove the pin so the only sign in option is with username and password
I unchecked to box to disable the password but when i restart it still ask me for a password but it does boot to steam big picture mode!
Can I build a same Steam big picture console for a TV on an operating system StemsOS 2 or 3?
I'm not sure what you're asking, exactly. Sorry. Can you clarify?
If you mean using Steam OS over Windows, yes, but there is compatibility issues with games.
Only problem with pc is the different store fronts/platforms. Like I’m playing Alan wake 2 right now and that’s exclusive to epic games store.
Yep, that part is a bummer. This whole easy boot idea is really focused on Steam.
Are you not able to add it to your steam library as a non-steam game?
@@preinfinity oh didn’t know you could do that.
Yes, you can. Sometimes launching games on other launchers from this Deck BPM can be hit or miss though I have found.
For that I recommend playnite is similar as steam but you can add every game.
I know im a little late to the party, but I've been having a ridiculously difficult time trying to play Jedi Survivor. I believe that it is an EA problem, because it goes through EA, because other games not using EA work, I just wanted to ask you if this is a problem for you or not.
I haven't played that one or any other EA games lately.
My suggestion is using the "task schedule" tool in windows so you don't see the desktop background
Can you explain more what this would do?
For steam to start before log on, so you don't see the desktop background and go directly to big picture after starting your computer.
I tried here myself and there was a glitch where steam did start but it wouldn't login to your account. There's probably a workaround but I don't really know how to fix if
Can you play gta 5 and minecraft and pubg please reply
Yes. My son plays Minecraft with a controller in this setup. We just don't launch it from Steam. I played RDR2 on it as well. For non-Steam stuff, we just use the keyboard/mousepad combo from Logitech to control and launch outside of Steam.
@@Techthusiasm thank you
LaunchBox…. You’re welcome
I would say that LaunchBox is nice if you're using emulation or trying to tie backs from disparate launchers. I pretty much only use Steam, except for the odd game here and there, so the Big Picture Mode works great for me.
@@Techthusiasm
What about titles not sold on steam???
I can always just grab my mini keyboard/track pad that I keep in our coffee table and launch them, worst case.
@@Techthusiasm
LaunchBox incorporates all storefronts. Give it a look
@@Techthusiasm
LaunchBox pulls in for all pc storefronts. I run my gaming pc with no keyboard needed. It’s just Ike a console.
