Thanks for sharing. I’ve switched from pc to series X when it launched because sitting in the corner of my room away from everyone got depressing. I game from a couch in my bedroom with the lights on now and it’s very refreshing. I’ve now wanted to switch back to pc for the modding aspect of games as I’ve missed that part. So now here I am building a computer for the living room & my bedroom. I will have to keep that wireless startup remote in mind for when I build it.

It looks good until you start playing from my experience. PC is a 7900XT / 32GB DD4 / Ryzen 5 5600. Here are some examples of problems:
    - I was playing Kingdom Come Deliverance yesterday with my resolution set to 1080p on a 4K TV. the screen went to sleep because I went afk for a few minutes. When I came back and woke up the screen, the game displayed in a 1080p square instead of stretching correctly. Had to restart the game to fix it (not good when you have limited saves)
    - In some games, the Steam Overlay doesn’t size correctly; if you set a game to 1080p on a 4K screen, the overlay will take 4x the size as it would normally; personally turned off steam achievement notifications for that reason
    - sometimes, the steam overlay opens in the background of the game (I assume some borderless window vs fullscreen problem?), happens on steam deck as well sometimes. Maybe related to third party launchers?
    - no rest mode is a problem, it’s ideal to remove intro movies for all games manually by deleting video files to at least speed up game launches
    - win11 is causing some trouble for me even after reinstallation where the entire Windows UI bugs out and Steam can’t launch with an error message along the lines of “Steam helper.exe cannot start due to an error”, requires hard restart
    - Xbox controller Bluetooth was sketchy until I bought a dongle. I assume this is probably my motherboard having weak Bluetooth, but worth mentioning as I have heard others complain
    - games requiring another launcher besides Steam take even longer to boot
    - I use AMD and I noticed that freesync also doesn’t turn on consistently; I need to disable and enable the setting through my tv settings to enable it whenever I see screen tearing; at this point, I just went back to 60fps caps and sync
    - in space marine 2, I had an issue where the game would flash every minute. After forum reading I found it was due to having a 60fps caps but vsync off. User error, but example of things that will slow your gaming down
    - I see no way to check my controller’s current battery charge. There used to be a display that was always wrong on big picture mode, I think they removed it. I noticed that if the controller stops vibrating, battery is low
    - hdr required a lot more manual setup than it did in my ps5. It’s easy to turn on but it’s a mess in terms of output, whereas console auto-set the settings and do it pretty well
Overall, a console-like experience is still not there yet. Add to that the port issues we see with AAA games and I am on the verge of giving up this dream.

@@Techthusiasm Ah okay. I dont have that option in my situation, unless i can crimp an HDMI cable somehow^^ RN i am looking into building a HTPC to have a decent streaming client, but its kinda rough to find good resources on that topic imo. IDK what quality to expect, with the smart TV Steam link app it was horrible. Dunno if i need to upgrade my router, or switch my GPU for an Nvidia one, but ill see what i can do. Thanks for the answer!

PC in the living room/home theater can be a challenge. I'm right on the cusp actually of selling this PC and just using a PlayStation...

I used a wifi garage door opener switch to turn on my PC. So I can turn my PC on with my voice using Google Assistant lol.

Can you play total war and starcraft using controllers?

    • @Techthusiasm

I don't tend to play games like that in a living room setup. Some games are made for a mouse/keyboard, for sure. I'm all controller in this setup for games that make sense to use it.

I don't remember a game that doesn't support controller in the last 10 years. Any game that have a console version have full controller support. If you use dualsense steam input will take care of it.
