I’ve felt really lucky to follow along with this series. You might not realise it, but you’re a godsend to anyone who didn’t have a da themselves to teach them these things. From those of us who are aspiring to your level of handiness, and wanting to fix up our communities - thank you. Not only do you explain your process clearly and give useful tips about farming and repair, you do the same teaching about what it means to be a hardworking, humble, and dedicated man. I hope your own father recovers quickly, and that he can take a well deserved break without guilt knowing that his son is setting the best kind of example for the next generation.
Get better soon, iFarm senior! There are worse places to be than nice and warm in hospital with all your needs being taken care of by nurses and a couple of lads to talk to. I wouldn't want to be in a US hospital, but an Irish hospital is probably a much nicer prospect.
not anymore im afraid our hospitals are gone to hell here now all the money goes to the people in suits in fact you would get a vet quicker now than a docter
I wish I had a man as handy as you are about my place, I’ve plenty needs doing. Great work, Adrian. Just putting the new doors on has smartened up the place no end and gives the house a lived in feeling, it’s going to be lovely when you’ve finished it. 👏👏👏👌
It's nice that your father is 92 years young. My own father is 97 years old, but he is living in a Senior's Home with his 92 year old 3rd. wife. His first one was my deceased mother.
I'm really enjoying these cottage video's. You are doing a fantastic job of it. Best wishes to your Dad, I hope he recovers well and returns home fit as a fiddle. It sounds like he might want an extended stop in hospital though!!!!!!!!
Came for the cottage, stayed for the farming and the digger restortion! Hope your old man is on the mend soon. Also, the 100k must only be hours away!!! Great content, keep at it.
Good work, love your abilities! The door frame concrete ends are to keep the timber doorframe off the ground, keeping them dry, and the spike holds the frame.
Hi Adrian, best wishes for a speedy recovery to father ❤️, in some older properties the door frames / jambs are spiked to a plinth using steel spikes for anchorage it also keeps it out of the wet/damp for longer life.
I hope your dad has a speedy recovery, I know things take longer to heal at that age. Congratulations on reaching 100,000 Subscribers 🎉. Great job getting the lighting into the cottage even if it is temporary. The weather here has been better, we have had nearly two weeks with only a small amount of rain and the ground is now drying out. I hope you get your fertiliser spread, that is going to be a lot more work with the quad over using a tractor but needs must.
Hopefully your Dad will soon be back on his feet. It's clear Adrian that you have inherited something of your Dad's indomitable spirit. It is heartening to watch you breath life back into the old house. Best wishes John
That is so great to have lights going through the building. It really makes a structure come alive and feel homey. Very interesting to see how much different this house is built versus ones in the USA.
The blocks of concrete on the bottom of the door frames was to keep the frame from rotten the pin was put into the frame before it was fixed then the blocked wer caseed and filled with concrete I don a few of them with my father I am enjoying the work on the house
I have a Land Commision house built in 1952 which is mass concrete. All the heads of the door frames were built into the concrete the same as yours. Instead of concrete lintels there are two lengths of box section steel about two inches up into the concrete. Yours may be the same. If they are over the doors they will be over the windows as well. I'm renovating mine and getting close to finishing it. Lots of hard work but if you can do it yourself you'll save a fortune. All you need is time and lots of it. Best of luck and I'll certainly be watching it
I'm so glad to find this program on an Irish old house as I'm always watching the Chinese restorations . I also love that he explains everything , great stuff . Cathy
Thank you Adrian. Hope your father is better and home soon. Just know no matter how old you are your parents will still treat you like your are 3 or 4 years old. My mom is 75 and still treats me like i'm 4 and I'm 54. LOL the cottage will be great when you get the time to do what you want to do to it. God Bless your family and Farm.
Very exciting to see the next steps towards this project. I found you because of this house but I’ve watched every week over the last year because of your humor & ingenuity around the farm. Wish your Dad is back home with you soon. My Dad is 90 on Tuesday and he’s only a month after breaking his shoulder in a fall. My Dad worked hard his whole life and it’s tough seeing him suffer but it’s been great being the one to care for him Adrian, you’re really a jack of all trades & your videos make me laugh. Can’t say that’s ever happened for me on a farming channel Wishing you a warm & dry few weeks. You all need it ✌️💚
Adrian, the blue socket you put on the outside of the house for connection to the generation should be a “inlet” type and not a socket, to connect your generator in the current set up you will need a lead with a male plug on both ends and could cause a situation where one end is plugged in and you have bare live pins at the other end
Brilliant comment. I came on to warn about this also. The solution about turning the generator off first doesn’t work as it only takes one mistake to get a shock. Easy to put right as stated by someone else. Electrician here also. Thanks for the videos
Hopefully your dad is out of hospital soon. You got those doors in just in time. What a very neat finish. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the renovation.
It’s good your dad is getting on so well in hospital. Hope he has a fast recovery. Drinking water promotes healing, my mother was told when her femur was broken. Thank you for sharing.
First off best wishes to you dad for a full recovery, great to see the work on the cottage starting, you can turn your hand to all kinds, also fair play to you Adrian and all the family on recent program on tv, raised by the village, great viewing. 👍👏🇮🇪
It’s going to take a while Adrian but I know that you will get it done. Sure ya nearly have the house “rewired” already.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. . You are a man with a plan. Well done. I’m so sorry about your dad, although Im delighted for him that he has good company in the hospital. Hopefully he will ❤be able to get home soon. It’s funny Isent it, no matter how old we are, our parents will always treat us as if we are still children. Bless them all and look after each other. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
To keep the kitty door closed, drill a hole at the base on the inside and put a nail (or in my husband’s case-a drill bit) and it can’t be opened from outside. We had a cat who could unlock the door with the tab lock. He also eventually started pulling the drill bit out of the hole. Darn cat.🐈
Really impressed with how frugal you are with recycling and then again recycling a simple door. Construction is expensive and thankfully you have to tools and the energy to keep it interesting. Just because the ceilings are so low, have you though to open it up to the rafters? or some other idea?
Please keep doing these videos your the best with information and banter along the way. We are hoping to do similar don't know where to start at moment but your helping the motivation 💯💯
Wish your dad a speedy recovery. Falls are a nightmare. My grandfather who is 91 came back to bed from the bathroom and fell onto a carpeted floor and broke 6 ribs and punctured his lung. He spent 2 weeks in ICU and 1 week in the Hospital ward and 3 weeks in respite care. On the mend. The doors and light make a huge difference. Just need smoke out the chimney now!
I love following along on this rehab. I keep imagining myself in that space when it is done. On another note, so sorry your Dad was hurt and glad he is content in the hospital. My oldest sister was int the hospital last Fall and she told me it was “delightful”. 😂 “They are all so nice here”. It’s a true sign of a great person when they can see the best in a crummy situation. Cheers from Bay Village, Ohio.
Your channel popped up on my feed. Subscribed and just got caught up on your work to the old cottage and I'm loving the vision. Even learned a little about cattle. I'm working on a small 2 bedroom cinderblock house built in 1945 in Birmingham, AL about 2hrs from where I live in Atlanta, GA. So far I've put a new roof on and some temporary windows to keep the elements and people out. As you said! No rush to complete it. Some of the work I can do myself, some I don't want to do or cant do like electric. I've been to Scotland, always wanted to visit Ireland. Years ago I watched the John Wayne movie "The Quiet Man" film in Conk, Ireland I believe. You said you're in Northern Ireland, what's the closest town to you? Cant wait to see more!
Good Morning! i just subscribed to your channel and i hit the bell thing too. in am in the U.S.A. i Love the way that different countries build stuff. i Realy look forward to watching more of your videos. some of my anscestors did come from Ireland! interesting way the doors are made. praying for your Dad and your whole family. Hello , The doors look realy nice . A nice begin ing . The rain 🌧️☔ puts a damper on every thing . Take care . I am sorry about your dad , spunds like hes getting a warm good treatment , thats what we want to hear . Look forward to farming .
How nice for your dad to have hospital mates to talk farming with! Wishing him a speedy recovery, and you some weather breaks. Brilliant video, as ever.
Hello Adrian, temporary lighting good job Just want to say you need to change the outside blue female socket you are going to supply the lights with to a 16 amp male inlet .The reason the plug you are going to connect to the socket you have will have exposed pins which will be live and someone disconnecting it with the gen on could get a shock or worse.
I like the looks of the doors. They look like they belong on that house. Lights are important to have so you can work on the house when it is cloudy. Sorry to hear about your dads fall. Hopefully it will not be a long hospital stay.
I remember having a discussion with my dad one time about what we thought was the most important invention of the 20th century. We settled on the lightbulb, because it turned night into day. Hope your dad is keeping better Adrian, and looking forward to watching more of this restoration. There is something special about restoring an old place; it's a labour of love and adding to the history of those who lived in it before you. Have a think about keeping those lightswitches as well; they're a link to the past of the cottage.
is there no end to your talent?? lol. totally impressed with the way you put those lights in. made it seem so easy. and you were so excited!! lol. great job Adrian.
wishing your Dad good health. I came originally for the cottage reno, as I know nothing about farms. Now I watch the farm bits just as avidly as the cottage reno! I am too old to need any of this knowledge, but I am loving it.
I’m sorry your father had a fall and broke something, but it’s good he seems to be making the best of it.🤗 I grew up on a farm that’s different from yours, so watching the farming on your channel interests me. But I came here because I saw you uncovering the brambles from the little cottage one day. So, I’m pleased to see you get started on the building part of it. Your unreasonable happiness at the electricity was contagious lol🤗 How something that small, in a little abandoned cottage half way across the world, could make me so happy is the magic of the internet. It may do bad things, but it does good as well.❤️🤗🐝
1985 sounds like a couple of years ago when you said 40 years I thought no he has made a mistake but now I am feeling my age, your Dad will be loving the crack with the boys in the room hope he gets out soon, great video to watch when you having a cup of tea and a break watching other people work is great fun, good luck to you and all the family Adrian
Glad to see you wearing your mask. You just can't be too careful with these old buildings. Don't forget your earmuffs and protective goggles too when needed. Good luck! ❤
You're a very handy man Adrian. A pleasure to watch. I'm as curious as you are about the spikes in the door jambs. Best wishes to your Father, hope he's home soon, although it sounds like he's well situated for company at the moment.
I'm an older lady, I'm on my own with that said, trying to make a derelict old cottage livable is my dream.

That’s a very nice comment which I appreciate greatly
Cottage looks well with the doors, and the lights, wish your Dad a speedy recovery
"I'll fix that" may be the three most common words said in this wonderful restoration project. Wishing your grand old dad a speedy recovery.
Looks like it's ready to rent out . Omg what a pit
I’m loving your video’s, loved to hear your story about your dad, the older folks make the best of everything, hope he makes a speedy recovery
I’m so pleased to see you start work on the cottage. I’ve really been looking forward to this project.
You are blessed to have your dad so long. I lost my dad when I was 14 back in 1981 . Enjoy every day you have with him . Great video as always.
Get better soon, iFarm senior! There are worse places to be than nice and warm in hospital with all your needs being taken care of by nurses and a couple of lads to talk to.

I was 14 when my daddy died I was the only girl and I was a daddy's girl.
love the smile the lighting gave you mate, you're smile was as bright as them lights.

@Open20penUT
Boy, isn’t that the truth! He’d be kept busy the first 6 months at my house with all the repairs needed!
It's nice that your father is 92 years young. My own father is 97 years old, but he is living in a Senior's Home with his 92 year old 3rd. wife. His first one was my deceased mother.
Let there be light. Hope Dad feels better soon.
Great to hear one of our own - nothing ever thrown out - it might come in handy again - great production with sound advice and a great attitude -
It’s lovely to see the sun shinin’ there Adrian.
A dad is always a dad, no matter the age of his wee boy! 😂
I'm really enjoying these cottage video's. You are doing a fantastic job of it.

Wishing your Dad a speedy recovery
Nice to see the work started. Yes, light makes so much difference. How about a plug simply for recharging your batteries while you are there?
Adrian, the blue socket you put on the outside of the house for connection to the generation should be a “inlet” type and not a socket, to connect your generator in the current set up you will need a lead with a male plug on both ends and could cause a situation where one end is plugged in and you have bare live pins at the other end
I was thinking the same
Yup. Electrician here. Lethal dangerous but easily put right.
Very valid point that🤔The only thing he could do is not fire the generator up until both males are plugged in and nothing live exposed
Plug the lead into the wall socket before plugging into the generator. And unplug from the generator before unplugging from the wall socket.
Brilliant comment. I came on to warn about this also. The solution about turning the generator off first doesn’t work as it only takes one mistake to get a shock. Easy to put right as stated by someone else. Electrician here also. Thanks for the videos
Mighty job with the lights and doors. Great to see you heading for the 100,000 subscribers. Speedy recovery to your Dad.

Is there any job you can’t do? It’s amazing everything you do. Thanks for all the tips, well done.
Looking good there Adrian all the best to your father

Hello ,
The doors look realy nice . A nice begin ing .
The rain 🌧️☔ puts a damper on every thing .
Take care .
I am sorry about your dad , spunds like hes getting a warm good treatment , thats what we want to hear . Look forward to farming .
Nice work setting up the lights glad you are wearing a mask & eye protection!
Good work. Best wishes to your Dad.
100,000 congratulations. I've followed since the days you hid behind the camera. You are a great advocate for farming
I like the looks of the doors. They look like they belong on that house. Lights are important to have so you can work on the house when it is cloudy. Sorry to hear about your dads fall. Hopefully it will not be a long hospital stay.
The doors and lights make such a difference. It looks like a home again. Hope your dad is feeling better soon.
I remember having a discussion with my dad one time about what we thought was the most important invention of the 20th century. We settled on the lightbulb, because it turned night into day. being a farmer you need to be able to do anything. another good one Adrian.,🚜👍
Wishing your Dad a speedy recovery like ur videos interesting to watch .
is there no end to your talent?? lol. totally impressed with the way you put those lights in. made it seem so easy. and you were so excited!! lol. great job Adrian.
That door look pretty darn nice on that little cottage.❤
wishing your Dad good health. I came originally for the cottage reno, as I know nothing about farms. Now I watch the farm bits just as avidly as the cottage reno! I am too old to need any of this knowledge, but I am loving it.
Never too old 👍
I’m sorry your father had a fall and broke something, but it’s good he seems to be making the best of it.🤗
I grew up on a farm that’s different from yours, so watching the farming on your channel interests me. It may do bad things, but it does good as well.❤️🤗🐝
Yes lad your working good with your house and the best of luck with it great work 🎉🎉🎉🎉
the cottage is looking good! I can't believe how brutal the weather in the UK has been this Spring. all the best to your dad.
Your "new" doors are a big improvement on what was there before and it looks to be a mighty fine installation for a temporary fix! - well done.
Top notch restoration. Like new.
Good luck! ❤
