Two Big Problems This Year - Two Solutions To Solve Them

- Опубликовано: 4 май 2024
- In this video we are final getting some fertiliser out with the aid of a quad spreader as our ground is still very wet, it's much later than normal but better late than never
Also dealing with angle berries that are a real problem on our heifers
For discloser this ATV spreader was sent out to us to demo by Fries ATV, we are not been paid or influenced to promote it hence the reason i can point out the goods and bads on each machine which will hopefully be beneficially to those also looking at similar ones.

Morning all
Just a little update on the Heat bubbles! Ruby is in heat this morning hence the slightly later upload. The bubble did exactly what it was supposed to do and give a very clear indication. I’ll keep you posted on them and the angle berries as time goes by.
Happy Sunday 👍
By now it's Monday there so Happy Monday Adrian and Family.
Morning Adrian, would it be safer for you and the cattle to have gloves on when dealing with the warts?
David
Always a pleasure to see the excitement in cattle being let out after winter indoors
Talking as a townie, that device for spearing the bottom of the fertiliser sacks is ingenious! 👌🏻👌🏻
Nothing like rolling Irish hills with gorgeous deep green grass. It’s the first site as you’re flying in and it always feels like home ✌️💚
So wonderful see that bright blue sky! The youngsters going out to pasture was so fun to watch... 😄 I'm glad you've been able to get some of the backlogged spring work off the list and I hope the weather continues to cooperate. Always enjoy seeing what you're doing on the farm and all the best to you and your family. ❤🌞🐄🌱🚜❤
Bit of rubber hose over the bar to take the play out of it when disengaged. Couple of shaft locking pins would be the job for the levellers
With the “Y” bracket you can’t add anything to the bar as it won’t slip down past the end of the “Y” if you get me. But adding it to the inside of that “Y” will fix it instantly. Bit hard to explain in a txt but simple and if you were here in person
"CAVAN MAN IN WEST CORK" here, watchin yr vids for couple yrs Adrian and love them and look forward to them every Sunday. Just started watchin "the sheep shephard|" lately and find them hilarious! auld man with very funny, glad you mentioned them, they mentioned the "Gallant John Joe" in a vid, which endeared me. Keep her lit from a Belturbet man 25 years down here ☝☝
And Im the opposite way around West Cork Man living in Cavan (Mullagh) And Oh to be back down there
Another great video Adrian good drone footage nice to see the young cattle out 👍👍👍👍👍
Lets hope the company that produce the spreader take on board what you've said, they are after all a few simple fixes there is nothing complicated about them. Lovely seeing the cattle running out onto the field, nature has kept them in the sheds for far to long. 👍
Always good to see the Girls go outside ❤
We use a Tin of carpet glue and wipe and spray a small amount of it on before you attach the heat detection patches helps hold them on if they spend a long time standing as sometimes they can lick them off or catch them on branches etc. Really handy those patches for heifers.😊
Keep the great work up and please keep the great videos coming friend. From Scotland
Hello Adrian, I'm as far as you could get from being a farmer, but I enjoy your videos so, so much. I learn something new each time. Thanks for that! Watching the heifers frisk around in the field was a delight! Take care until next time. :)
Olly blogs was saying about those fert bag spears the other day
It’s always lovely to see the cows and calves out 😊but did your cows ever get TB😕
I was watching the Sheep Shepherd channel and they love using the Quad spreader. 🇮🇪💪
Hi Adrian grate video as always.
When you have the heifers leg lifted you should always be careful as she has 3 more to kick you with as told by my 10 year old watching today 😂😂😂
Great camera work Adrian. I especially like the overhead shot as you released them. Is there anything you can’t do well? 😂✌️💚
Nice video and thanks for explaining what you are doing that helps us that aren't farmers.
Nice spreader great for wet ground, hope dad's better have a good week ahead.
Great to see the heifers out Adrian.
Great video👍. Why don't you let a Angus bull with the heifers?
It was lovely watching the girls dancing around the field! Hope the weather continues to improve, hope the angle berries disappear, nasty little things, hope you get to enjoy some time over the bank holiday weekend.👍😎🐄
You do so much manual work. You need to get the little ford 8n (I think that is what it is) get the little tractor running get a scraper blade for it and have the little tractor do some work. I'm sure your dad would be pleased to know that his tractor still has a job on the farm.
Stay safe.
Great drone footage 👍😊👍
Lovely looking hefers best luck.them
Love your work and your content never new how much work goes into farming before I started watching your videos keep up the good work . Watching from Belfast
Only recently found your channel with the old house content ❤️ and started watching the farming content WOW how different to Australia I'm fascinated
Isn't there a vaccine for the warts? But love your method with the bands hope it works
Cheers from Aus
Try a bungee on the on off lever
Great video adrain nice heifers. I hope you have a good summer and get all your work done
Have to show the downsides on the spreader tbh. They are all only little things but they would be little things every single time you use it. Better to fix than live with them
Really enjoy your channel! Hopefully it will dry up
Hi Adrian 👋. I look forward to your content. Have a good week ahead and take care .thanks.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video Adrian , great explanation of what goes on , the problems and also the solutions. Great reviews on pros and cons. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video very enjoyable
Thanks for the show Adrian 🍻
Get the 20 out on the land a brilliant we tractor....good man Adrian your a great farmer
great video keep it up
Great video Adrian Great 2 see the sun and cattle out
Good stuff and I love the Specsavers -
Great video Adrian as always 👌
Great job Adrian. That wee spout thing is a great tool, where did you get that if you don’t mind me asking? We are always working with Half bags on the slopes and wet areas.💪👍
Good stuff
Would you get a nice little hereford bull to run with the heifers, i know you've had a bad experience with a bull and i wouldnt blame you for not keeping one , never trust any bull or cow for that matter but it would make your life a little easier
As always Adrian great information/video 👍💯 I did chuckle when your logic🤔 kicked in regarding the spreader 👍💯 It's lovely to hear that all the farmers help each other out🥰 well dangle berries or not, they 🐄's were having a rare auld time in the field 😂
Have wonderful day Adrian and family ❤
Good feedback for the manufacturer there
Fair play Adrian, Hopefully you will get good grass going now, Like you said we have it for years now and couldn't fault it 👍
Nice spreader... but wouldn't want to reach for the handles like you said but by the looks of it the easiest possible mod for that would be boring a hole in the drawbar box section so it could be bolted further in but allow full turning with the quad in use.. great vid though 👌.. always informative. Stay safe 🏴
Enjoyed the video Adrian, trust your Dad is much better, great watching the beast going mad I love that makes a mess but nice to see them going darting around with the tails up, wee spreader looks great and your right about the faults you could see a couple before you got right into it thumb bolts are never a good idea on agricultural equipment, any way good luck to you and the family
When any machine survives glens dad you know it’s good
That's very smart...
Brilliant channel chum...
Great video love the spreader she looks the right job
Have a great bank holiday
Another great video has always Adrian and family 👍
canning farms on youtube put mudguards on his quad i think in a video. another little project for you maybe..keep up the mighty work
Brilliant pros and cons Adrian... just honest views on the machine 👍
That spinner will work fine on the grey fergie for old school fert spreading
Hi lad that was great work with your fresion heifers them was good ones 🎉🎉🎉
Great video i use scart card's for hiffers find them good
Ahhh Adrian I thought you came from a generation of farmers who would grab the electric fence with one foot of the ground 😂😂
same as us lol we had to put the fert out on the quad
❤ that Ruby!
Have you ever tried teaser bulls to detect bulling
bactokill i think do a spray for angleberries ,,,, horrible things
Hello I was wondering where you got the leather seat cover for your Massey
10:00 would a bungee cord hold it over enough, instead of a load of welding.
A short chain to attach the thumbscrews so you don’t lose them?
So that paperwork that comes with equipment is instructions thought it was filled under not read yet!! Great blog, your grass looking green, is it thickening you are after?
Most common heat detection these days are scratches but both the kmars and scratches you need to watch them around tree branches
In my old veterinary dairy book for warts it says 'that sometimes they can be prevented if you mix heifers with cows. For example their first grazing season.'
Horrible thing!
24:30 Line Trimmer Bristle Brush Attachment
ive got to pull you up on something,Ireland and drought, has that ever happened?
Great video as usual Adrian , hoping your father has improved. GHTYAY Keith
How many weeks late are the cattle getting out to grass ?
We use a similar patch for heat detection. Estrotech patches are like a lottery scratch card. Same idea as the dye tube. It’s a very effective method. More effective than getting an AI tech out when you need em
How did your cow who was knocked down from being bullied go did the poor thing recover ok!!!
She was 100% that evening, thankfully she wasn’t hurt just winded. Was lucky to be there as it could of been a different story otherwise
What’s your thought on a mole plough
Glad the heat bubbles worked OK. Can you PM the brand you used as I see you didn't have to warm them up which I know some brands need? Thanks
Hi great video. I have one of them spreaders. Love it and wouldnt be without. Only problem ive with it is that it closes itself on uneven ground, no matter how much i tighten the linkage.
is your open/close the same as this one
@@kieranosullivan02 yeah it is
Gps for the quad next🤪
Could you shorten the drawbar on spreader to bring levers a bit closer?
Yes but then you might start having clearance issues with that lower gear level especially if you turn sharpish
Great video! Lots to learn from here. Question re: angle berries. Are thise warts? I've never heard of them before.
Some use the term “they’re just bigger warts” but they are a different virus and harder to cure at times. Because they tend to be much larger they become one with the skin and hard to remove. If they were on top of the animal and in direct sunlight then iodine would kill them but underneath this tends to not be as effective we found. Cheers Jim 👍
@@IFarmWeFarm thanks so much Adrian. I learn so much from your videos. Cheers!
What causes those lumps to grow on their teets?
Born a dairy farm but no not for me beef now for play da bed of heaven uncile farming 16 miles away was a dairy farm aswell hard work this farming your doing some job drive on you no your s.tuf good man no problems with beef reard calf I think love to you in earnest keep going your good at your job living on the banks of river Shannon hard call wasn't willing to comit no point otherwise power on hope you da is keeping well
Hi Adrian, I’ve just seen that the cottage videos are going down really well!! Maybe a second channel called I Build We Build 😂
Waht is the purpose of putting that plant in the stable shed?
Oh, what utter joy🤣🤣🤣🤣👌👌
Good morning Adrian, out of interest have you tried this product?
Warts, Angleberry & Cowpox Spray 500ml
€25.00 Inc Vat
Warts, Cowpox & Angleberry is a general purpose effective spray, aids in the treatment of teat warts on cows and heifers, also angleberries on dry stock. It also assists in reducing the bacteria that cause Pseudo Cowpox in Dairy Cows.
Yes, works well with warts but seen no difference on the berries like these John
You mentioned that you tried the vaccine but would the vaccine work better if given to the calves not bulling heifers before the warts form, when they are visible I'm guessing it's too late for the vaccine, heal max gel sprayed on along with using the rings would help especially when your going to such effort and when they are as bad
I had more success with elastic bands they tighten in more than the lamb rings
What weight are the heifers for AI ?
❤
The Gambini spreaders are much better
controls are the best
They also have a swivelling hitch
Hi Adrian roughly what age do you bull your heifers at?
Well
I wonder if we filled Eamon Ryan with porter; would he be as good as a vasectomised bull ??.
❤❤❤
5th great video Adrian 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
👍👍👍
Will there be a slurry video anytime!
No real slurry out worth talking about yet Jack
Try letting cattle out when they're really hungry... They don't run around as much 😐
Haw is your father ❤
