Don't know what you call that wood in the ceiling over there, but in the US we call it 'tongue in groove.' You remind me of my Irish half, my Dad. He was never happier than when he was fixing, repairing or building something. Your enthusiasm for this old cottage is contagious. Good luck to you!
I saw part three first, was impressed enough, but wondered if I should see the first two. And the surprise to see the state of the area, at the start! You have put in so much work already, and I am excited to follow the process!
I'm glad you took the advice of other not to pull the old building down. That is a piece of our history and as you said, someone had a life there and probably raised a family there. With the price of property these days too making it so difficult for young people to get onto the property ladder it would definitely be worth keeping and maybe doing something with it for your kids possibly. I just think it would be class to save the old building anyway.
Man is recovering from a cold but still ploughs into his work, proper hard grafter Adrian. I can’t wait to see it fully opened up. There are new grants for them building so make sure to look into it soon.
I'm *not* second-guessing! You're getting it done and fast! I'm just sharing my thoughts. I saw a later video first, when the house is an island in gravel. Seeing how wide the little woods were, I'm surprised you didn't leave a tree or two, out from the house a bit. I guess it might be a construction thing. Or wanting to choose your own plantings, maybe? Ah. Partly because of the power lines.
You could always rent it out untill the kids are older.. class wee spot, and from watching your videos we know you'll do a great job. Inexpensive yet well done. Looking forward to the updates😊
How exciting.I love to see an old place brought back from the brink ,and these days there’s quite a few of those going on ,and I marvel at the enterprising souls taking them on and working miracles.I look forward to seeing your miracle take shape.Thank you.❤
I'm not sure the cottage is completely recoverable, but I applaud the man's idea ... something from the past 'up if not actually running again' stirs a part of my soul.
What a beautiful little old cottage, I was brought up on my grandfather’s farms when I was a little fella, miss those days. New subscriber this channel is great.
Great project Adrian, right up my street. I love to preserve as much old stuff around the place as possible rather than going in all gun's blazing - when you think of the effort and work put into these building's back in the day, the least we can do is give it some respect.
From the USA, I love these restoration saving projects. Happy that you are going to save the house. Many Irish ancestors in my mothers family. Nason, Healey, McCormick's. Narragansett Bay
Oh my goodness that is a great home, can’t wait to see the finished house. I still have the roll windows in my home. My house is close to 98 years old. No insulation and wiring still the same. It was my mom’s and dad’s home. Blessings to you and your family 🚜🌳🤗
That is going to be so cool once you get it to the point that it's an actual house again... because who knows what the future holds for your family and your farm. Only the best, I truly hope.
Adrian the best video yet, fantastic and they keep coming, you must have one hell of a following about your framing life. This achievement must make you very proud, as we the viewers really enjoy watching them.Job well done.👍.
A very satisfying day's work! And you can't but like a man who, spending his day out in the fresh air, working the land and cutting down trees but still needs a pine scented air freshener in the cab of his tractor. "You don't get much more Irish than that!" as me Grannie used to say!
Morning Adrian. Great new project. This will keep you busy through the autumn/winter. I am excited for you. I love watching these mystery building/clean up projects unfold.
I think cutting wood brings us back to the roots of humanity and necessity. It taps into the fundamentals of survival, something most of us lost a long time ago. It embraces the simplicity of life, it encourages the manhood of working with your hands. Thats why cutting wood feels good even when it doesnt.
Awesome! Love seeing old houses being saved instead of being demolished. Your a man after my own heart with the chainsaw/cleaning up work, very satisfying. 👍
Great to keep. Love that you keep all the nice logs for the fire. My Dad always said " The best crop a farmer can grow is houses but you can only do it once "
This is fantastic! Love seeing an old house brought back to life. If you had water lines that near the surface here they would have frozen. Water lines must be 5 feet below grade minimum. Sewer lines are even deeper.
Adrian just found your channel and I'm hooked! Really looking forward to see how this project works out. I too was happy to hear what your plans for the building are. Blessings from Shropshire mate.
At first I was like-why would you cut down those mature trees?! And then I saw how close to the building they were-grown trees. No trees should within several meters of building, if you don't want it to collapse. As my granddad always says-as tall as tree is above ground as big are its roots beneath. Plus the possibility of tree colapsing on the building. So it is actually logical to cut them and perhaps if you want some trees you can plant new ones further away. I am looking foward what will come from this project. I definitely think it's worth keeping the structure.
What a great project to get stuck into. That will keep you out of mischief for a year or so 🙂👍🏼I will enjoy following your progress, good luck with it mate.
Hiya Adrian when I saw the roof of the building awhile ago in one of your vids it never crossed my mind that you may own the property as you had never mentioned it before, anyway really looking forward to seeing the transformation into a usable home, and you can always rent it out as a holiday cottage until the kids are ready to live in it themselves.
Yea I honestly never really thought of it much till now, I won’t be getting any major work done to it for sometime but we will maintain it to keep it standing for sure. 👍
@@IFarmWeFarm main thing is to preserve the building so it doesn’t get any worse, even if you keep the tin roof and install some cheap secondhand windows doors and gutters… it’ll only go up in value
Make a lovely little holiday cottage 🏡, and watch that paint work on the the loader don't scratch it 😀, looking forward to see what you have coming maybe a digger 🤔
Great wee project Adrian, as you say it's dry so thats a great start for a restoration job. Would be great to know who the last inhabitants were . Keep up the good work
You definitely should reno that building. Folks LOVE reno vids....you could get a lot of RUclips mileage fixing that place up. I would sure come by more often for that. 😉👍
Nice one Adrian, have to agree with you, always love cutting and clearing land, also, rebuild the house, you be amazed how many people would love to rent a small cottage in the countryside, keep at her Lad!
I love it! I can't wait to see what you do to the place. It would be wonderful if when your kids grow up to have a starter home away from home and one day you see a mess of grand kids topping the hill on their way to grandads. That would be a beautiful sight to see. :) :) Yes I know the cabin is too small for a mess of grand kids but you can build on at some point. :)
Great to hear Irish accent again after years away in America. Where I live don’t get to hear it at all . I’m a carpenter so can appreciate your desires Adrian . One note to you on videoing 👍 Keep your looking at camera as volume goes in and out also more to do with connection to audience . I’m from North East Clare originally and not much good farm land 😂. Nice utube …
What a great vid for us Adrian I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to follow you through with it to see it in its glory. It’s a helluva lot of fierce hard work for you but gee what a prize in the end. What an exciting find and what a brIll escapade we’re all in for Well done you and thanks
Great job Adrian, very handy wee chainsaw for the light wood. You did a great job in the short space of time, I look forward to the transformation. PS: yea didn't need me to find the water pipe..🤣
People will enjoy the process of restoration on YT. Your channel will increase in size with people enjoying the work and progress. I know I will. You also just pulled a couple cords of firewood out of there for the winter. I know what you mean about operating a chainsaw- I love that work too. Maith thu.

I really hope a local woodturner got the Yew tree... that is highly prized wood.
Great project.
Best Wishes, Brendan.

WOW I bet that little place was beautiful at one time. Did you see it when it was habitable?
The wee cottage house 🏠 probably stayed in good nick 👍 because of all the trees 🌳 surrounding it protecting it from the elements
Yes I agree with you, we will have to weather seal it now when it’s fully uncovered.
Well I wish you the best of luck on your new project 👍

There is a huge amount of work and unseen issues in that. It will be very rewarding when completed.
There definitely is, would take a lot of time and funding to restore it for sure. Over time we’ll get it sorted
