Handling advantages still make a difference but the driver most certainly plays a much bigger role in wet conditions because engine advantage is nullified. Senna was and Max is on another level when it comes to racing on rainy days.

Yeah some one needed to say it, and Max speaks on behalf of many of us. The british bias media is always throwing shade on non English success stories and wen it comes to reporting on the good, they are no where to be found.
As a Brit myself i can honestly say that ,to me, the bias towards British drivers, especially from Sky F1, is getting very boring these last few years.
I can understand they want to see a Brit succeed, but to just crap on anyone that isnt British at any slight opportunity is just sad.
Even sadder though are the British " F1 fans " that lap it up like the media simps they are.

People like to go on about the car, Max doesn’t have the best car this year and is going to win the championship. When you get weather like that you soon see who the best driver is and Max is way ahead of the rest

Max probably had the best car for about 8 races, then had an equal car for about 3-4 races and then had the third best car for about 8-9 races, after Brazil we have to see who has the best car with the new engine for RBR. Difference is Max won 8 races, while Lando and Charles both won 3. When Max has the best car he wins 70% of his races, when others have the best car they win only 50% of their races. That is the difference between the best driver on the grid and the 2nd and 3rd best drivers on the grid

Max would pass Norris even without the red flag. He was 13 seconds ahead in the safety car, and was 31 seconds ahead at the end.
well, no. Following a car wasn't that easy. He struggled to overtake Leclerc and then Ocon, but he took the only chance after the sc restart because he knew he had to.
He would have had to pit for tires still and pass multiple ppl. Not impossible, but not a slam dunk either

Interesting how not having DRS, and coupled with the weather it made the race more interesting.
They didn't go near him anyway, they just cried in their little corners and let the Brazilians do their job at the post-race presser. The only ones still complaining are the British press. Max took his penalty last week, but we all see how Lando gets a fine or a stiff talking to when he breaks the rules and gains advantage or endangers other drivers.
Even in Tennis ,when Novak would dominate Wimbledon, the British media would be beyond salty. It's truly embarrassing.

I wouldn’t blame the British press for favoring British drivers. I do blame F1 for making them the only voice that is heard.
Lando might be champion one day... but not today. He is not ready at all. When Lewis had a good car he never made mistakes. When Max had a good car he never made mistakes. When Lando has a good car he is always making mistakes. Just in this race he made 3 big ones. I am not against Lando in any way but you have to look at the whole picture. Since Max got into F1 he has always been STUNNING in the rain races.
Here in Australia the ATROCIOUS Sky F1 commentating is referred to as the Lando Norris Fan Club

Also, the FIA forgot the dead during yellow when they drove against the rescue truck. Where is the press now? The top 3 did a masterclass and let the world see what a really god driver is without nonsense and not the best car.

They called out Max for dangerous/unfair driving. Which most of the other drivers agreed with.

As a Ferrari fan, am happy red bull is struggling, but that was a Senna/Schumacher champion drive yesterday.
Mclaren choked and the biased brit media is in denial and cope mode for the next three weeks.
How did McLaren choke? By out developing every other team on the grid for the last two seasons and having arguably the fastest car on the grid? The mistakes weren't the team, Lando lost positions at the start (again) and drove it off the track a couple of times. But I think the car is good. Actually looking at the free air qually times, there isn't much wrong with the car....

I stopped watching the pre and post race shows on Sky Sports. And I mute the race while watching. The bias has been going on for years. It was so bad, I though Martin Brundle and Lewis Hamilton shared a flat!!!!!

It's so weird to hear Jeff Stelling talking about F1 these days.
First it was Michael Schumacher…then in football…Ronaldo was the problem…not Marcus Rashford…and now Max is the issue because he’s better than Lando. The British media bias knows no bounds or shame
They're saying he needed luck on his side, but not talking about his bad luck in Q2. Not to mention the good luck Norris had in qualify for pole. Remember, folks, "luck is preparation meeting opportunity."
A day Max showed the world that actually he is the next Schumacher and he is here to stay.
This is how bias the media are. Even without the luck he would have been close to winning because he was always around 8 seconds away from the lead. Now I remember social media were saying Lewis the goat when he was really good in Brazil. Max does the same but even better
Of course the British press weren't at the press conference. They have tried everything to discredit Max all season just because Norris has won a few races. This season completely destroys the myth that the best car always wins. Only the truly great drivers can win or remain in contention in a poor car, and that's what the RedBull has been for months, so their success is purely down to the huge talent of Max Verstappen. The haters that spout so much garbage are no more than armchair experts that after watching Drive to Survive seem to believe they are an authority on F1. I'm a Brit, and disgusted with the hate and bias aimed at Max, not to mention the attempts by the stewards to manipulate a final race decider. Bad luck, Johnny Herbert, you forgot to penalise the weather! Anybody in any doubt about how biased he is should watch his awful podcasts wher he really shows how out of touch he is with modern day F1.

Max is currently the better driver, mainly due to single mindedness on the track. Winning in the conditions requires skill, and a well designed and built vehicle. A man, one with the machine will, in all condition behave better than a Bull in a China Shop type of driver. Lando is good, but lacks consistency. Lewis is past his best, and the car is not at peace with him, otherwise, in the wet, he would have given "Smasher" a good run for the race. The Btitish Press, by the way, have been Starmerised, and frightened to report on controversy abroad.

Sky F1 being nowhere after the race just shows it's British bias. Personally I watch the channel 4 highlights which even though Mark Webber is a regular pundit, seem too be more fair in there driver discussions, interviews and evaluations. Also IMO Alex is far superior to Crofty.

The country I live doesn't have the best commentators for the f1 races, stating obvious things, slow to react and no real emotions, but at least they're not biased and still miles ahead what the brits and a lot of countries around the world have to deal with.

Yes, he was. I started watching f1 in Germany in'98, so they only had German commentators. Never got to him cover any races when I moved to the states.

I'm Dutch. Let's not pxss on the Brittish journalists over and over. It is not constructive. Just listen to any interview with Adrian Newey. There's someone who thinks while he talks and what he says is always interesting. I have yet to hear this same kind of natural wisdom from any of the others, team bosses, dads, drivers, designers. Lando is still very young and, like Max, he is a great driver. I rather liked his "luck" remark and see it more in terms of the wicked sense of humor between them two.. After all, he could have just referred to Max being lucky that it rained.
there shouldn't ever be bad words spoken about any of the drivers as they make us look like no bodies , think there is way to much negativity on social media and world press to many story tellers

I know Max’s car last season was by far the fastest car for the whole season, but I still think it was arguably more impressive than this year, purely for the consistency of the domination. So many records were broken in 2023 and you don’t get that just from a good car. It doesn’t drive it’s self at the end of the day.
Agree but it wasn’t by far the fastest! It was only a few tenths on average but due to his consistency he made it count nearly everytime :)
Other drivers would have struggled to have won half of those races in that car.

It's also a culture clash , British people tend to beat round the bush afraid it might insult someone, Dutch directness is the opposite they will tell you what they think because for them honesty tramples feelings and beating around the bush can lead to the other side believing you.. This is what I’ll say. I wish these pro athletes would win and loose graciously. Max acted like a baby after going out in Q2 and then when he won, and Noris also acted like a baby after loosing. Just accept it, learn from it, move on and try to do better next time. When you win do it graciously don’t be a dick.
