Rain is the greatest equaliser. Its a great way to see who's the best. Remember when it rains, max and lewis tend to do quite well? Silverstone this year? Canada this year? Then the one time lando's been leading into rain (sochi 2021) he characteristically bottled, and lewis won from oh look, max coming back from 20th. It's telling

Absolutely incredible drive from Max. Fully deserving to be WDC this season. Imo, Max is like Seto Kaiba and Lando is like Joey Wheeler (Yu-Gi-Oh reference). A very good driver but just not on the same level as Max (Kaiba) or Lewis (Yugi).
What a monster... The control he has in those conditions also highlights that any other trickery he gets up to in the dry is 100% intentional. But regardless of that... what a drive in Brazil. Phenomenal.
I don't understand how Perez still managed to end up without points whilst Hamilton who had a huge stinker and Lawson who got punted still finished ahead of him
Imagine this same race weekend without Max. No one giving a masterclass in the rain, no one carving through the field like an artist and no one with witty comebacks towards the press. Max is making the sport interesting on and off track. Without him, it would be a snoozefest.
Lawson letting Max past is also symbolic, it shows Red Bull that he can play nice to Max, but everyone else on the grid needs to watch out because he'll fight them
In clean air on a drying track the conditions are so different it really doesn't mean anything. And isn't that unusual historically when conditions have been so odd. Also surely If Max could have gone anywhere near that fast in qualifying you'd think he would have done so, instead his own quali wasn't that great... Don't get me wrong he put in a good performance but being catapulted to the front by the red flag and then having no spray, no traffic and a fairly drivable and rapidly improving track for the rest of the race if he didn't set fastest lap multiple times it would have been really darn odd - everyone else is bottled up in the chain of cars unable to run to their best pace so nobody else was likely to even if they had the pace.

So Max got a major penalty for the first time in his career in Mexico despite the stewards being very lenient with him for many years and suddenly people are acting like stewards are out to get him lol. F1 fans and their conspiracy theories. Reminds me of the conspiracy theories in 2021. Truth is, the stewards are just grossly incompetent and inconsistent.
Bearman sounded truly terrified when he came on the radio begging the FIA to Red Flag the race, saying he couldn't see a thing and didn't come here to die. His offs made sense to me.
Max has shown that it's not just the car. Lando has also shown that it's not just the car. Can't believe LN said yesterday's race outcome was luck with the red flag and not talent.
Also being in a position to take advantage of the red flag wasn't luck either. If he hadn't carved through the field the way he did and gotten so close to the frontrunners the red flag wouldn't have put him in a position to win in the first place. Though in this theoretical alternate timeline we'd have had an Alpine 1-2 which is insane to think.
In 2021 Max was in another league. Hamilton was more consistent than Norris but lost 76 points (16%) whereas Max only lost 21 points (5%) due to own errors/driver performance. Norris lost 70 points in 21 races this year (18%), but also has had much more competition compared to 2021, because the cars are now much closer. Basically if you make a small mistake the impact is much higher and it is also much harder to qualify higher than back than.
Max didn't lost 21 points due to mistakes in 2021. I'd say he took home every single point he could, i don't see what could he had done better. He made some mistakes, in Saudi qualy, and in Brasil main race, but it didn't really cost him any points, as Lewis was fast enough to get in front of him anyway. Max maximized.
@@giacomoneri1782 Saudi quali did not cost him points, he lost: 1. 7 points in Bahrein, overtaking Hamilton outside track 2. 6 points in Silverstone, in total he lost at least 18 points of which 2/3 was attributable to Hamilton/bad luck and 1/3 to himself (this is debatable, but I follow stewards decision) 3. 8 points in Italy. He lost P4 with his action, so basically 12 points of which 2/3 is attributable to Max. That is 21 in total. If you judge Silverstone 100% Lewis and Italy 100% Max, it is 19 points.
It's been a 2009 Brawn type of season. Terrific start with multiple wins, other teams catching up (@2009 with double diffuser) and picking points from each other, still ahead enough to win the WDC!

Brazil was the ultimate STFU to everybody for Verstappen. But Brazil also showed that F1 needs more, lots more races in the rain... every wet race this season has been exciting and surprise performances... rain equalizes the field, it's when true talent comes through.
I think Lando is showing it waaay more than Max or anyone else, that it's never just the car. If it was true, he would've already won the WDC this season xdd
Genuinely annoyed that the marshalls never get anything more than some worthless "recognition". Pay them, F1! Pay them, track owners and race organizers! Pay the people that make the racing we love happen. It's shameful to ask people to provide free labor.
Qualifying was like Macau Grand Prix Pile up for GT3 cars (but not exactly) Is like F1 knew what will happened after they release the 2003 extended edition of that era of F1
If Lando is mid then what does that make Oscar. He’s doing worse than Bottas did in 2017 to Lewis. The reality is that Norris has over delivered this season. Making a driver of Piastris caliber look worse than Bottas.
13:00 am I the only one who doesn’t really get why this is a rule? Why can’t a driver get assistance from the Marshalls to get back into the race? Especially if it’s just their front wing or something that is broken and they are covered by a vsc/safety car where they can repair it or if the race is red flag (I.e Russell in 2022 when he got out of his car to help zhou but then wasn’t allowed to restart to restart the race cause his car got put on a flatbed back to the pits) imo it’s just kinda a dumb rule that could be reworded better so that people like Nico don’t get dsq because they got unlucky and got beached on a slightly raised bit of track
More Verstappen records achieved this weekend gone. He surpasses Schumacher for the longest number of consecutive days a driver has led the world championship. I was starting to think Max was losing the plot after the last two rounds but what a champion's drive.
It felt like a boy's adventure story. Around the world in eighty days on a dime a day, or something. I might wish in vain for every race to be like this. This is what I watch for. There was a Michel Vaillant story, a cross Europe rally, one frame depicting a Mini in the pouring rain with the driver cussing at the foul weather. I forgot which story it was but I could draw that frame from memory, if I could draw at all. That kind of adventure story. There's something very romantic about racing in a deluge. Something cosy. You're all alone in a world that suddenly got very small. Just you, the car, the heater and a hundred feet of clear view. And a 4in plastic xmas tree with a few lights on the dash, of course. I wouldn't have been surprised if Max had had a pic of Penelope on the dash for company.
@ yeah and then you cant overtake a mercedes, a ferrari and two alpines? also thats a mistake by the team to pit him not luck. he didnt want to box and he should have just stayed out. everybody knew that we would get a safety car or red flag in those conditions
Was the McLaren really the fastest car "by far"? Even if you don't take Lando's race into consideration, Oscar's one was nothing to shout about either.

Felt sad for Colapinto but understandable as he being the first time on the rain in Interlagos, that heightens the performance of Bearman and Lawson, rookies that were able to finish the race even tho they also made mistakes, the future of F1 is bright with these guys in the grid
Bearman just had better luck than Franco. He was spinning all the race. And Franco was with fresh inters in the worst conditions, he was begging his ingeneers at the radio for full wets and they Keep commanding him to push to warm the tyres with that crazy weather

Watch the onboard for the Piastri overtake. Max sent it down the inside from two and a half car lengths back. There is no way Piastri could have predicted the move and defended it. Nobody else was making those moves.
I'm not a Max fan, but clearly he shows what it is to be the king of the rain.
When Max has the best car he wins 90% of races.
When Lando has the best car he wins 25% of races.
No comparison really.
It's just luck, not talent. 😂
That's sarcasm btw.

What a monster... The control he has in those conditions also highlights that any other trickery he gets up to in the dry is 100% intentional. But regardless of that... what a drive in Brazil. Phenomenal.

The fact Lando and George only got fines shows exactly where the FIA's loyalty lies. If Max had done that he would have been black flagged.

Went back and watched Russell's onboard/radio calls the two laps before coming in and he def called staying out with enough time for the team to realize

Max has shown that it's not just the car. Lando has also shown that it's not just the car. Can't believe LN said yesterday's race outcome was luck with the red flag and not talent.
The red flag was luck. The divebombs into T1 and 17 fastest laps he set were not.
Exactly, it shows that Max and Hamilton did not dominate just because they had fast cars but also because they are built different
It's not an either/or situation... it was both talent and luck.
Being in a position to take advantage of luck is a talent in itself and that's what a lot of people tend to forget.
@@giacomoneri1782 Saudi quali did not cost him points, he lost:
1. 7 points in Bahrein, overtaking Hamilton outside track
2. 6 points in Silverstone, in total he lost at least 18 points of which 2/3 was attributable to Hamilton/bad luck and 1/3 to himself (this is debatable, but I follow stewards decision)
3. 8 points in Italy. He lost P4 with his action, so basically 12 points of which 2/3 is attributable to Max.
That is 21 in total. If you judge Silverstone 100% Lewis and Italy 100% Max, it is 19 points.

It's shameful to ask people to provide free labor.

it goes without saying but Lando is mid, he has had the best car since miami and barely gained any points on max
If Lando is mid then what does that make Oscar. He’s doing worse than Bottas did in 2017 to Lewis.
The reality is that Norris has over delivered this season. Making a driver of Piastris caliber look worse than Bottas.
the fine and no other penalty for the formation lap mess is ridiculous
considering all the times oscar had to give up track position to lando this weekend he gets a pass for not defending against max
Many drivers also lose concentration when they are out front. Some in major ways than others, but Max rarely makes those.
i wouldn't actually say its max and lewis showing us all that "its not just the car" but its more lando showing it this year
13:00 am I the only one who doesn’t really get why this is a rule? Why can’t a driver get assistance from the Marshalls to get back into the race? Especially if it’s just their front wing or something that is broken and they are covered by a vsc/safety car where they can repair it or if the race is red flag (I.e Russell in 2022 when he got out of his car to help zhou but then wasn’t allowed to restart to restart the race cause his car got put on a flatbed back to the pits) imo it’s just kinda a dumb rule that could be reworded better so that people like Nico don’t get dsq because they got unlucky and got beached on a slightly raised bit of track
All this chaos and Kmag was not even on the track.
World Championship 4 is ramping up to be Max' Magnum Opus.

i think stroll is evolving he's just taking himself out instead of others
I wouldn't have been surprised if Max had had a pic of Penelope on the dash for company.

how you can go from 1st to 6th in the by far fastest car is beyond me. lando is a race winning caliber driver but not a championship caliber driver
Red flag timing… did you not watch the race?
@ yeah and then you cant overtake a mercedes, a ferrari and two alpines? also thats a mistake by the team to pit him not luck. he didnt want to box and he should have just stayed out. everybody knew that we would get a safety car or red flag in those conditions
Was the McLaren really the fastest car "by far"? Even if you don't take Lando's race into consideration, Oscar's one was nothing to shout about either.
Rain is a huge equaliser. Happened to hurt mclaren, who while they had notably the quickest car in the dry, had that advantage pretty much taken away. Still not a good performance from either mclaren, but they did get unlucky enough to counteract their good luck in the sprint and quali
