I think this decision and the way Max immediately said that the lights have to be green for people to go around during the aborted start fiasco shows how much Max knows the rules and his racing IQ when it comes to strategy. It's another thing that separates him and Norris. Norris didn't know that he had to stay right where he was during that aborted lap. Norris also made the wrong choice during the rain in Russia 2021. These are the things that make Max better even when Norris has the better car.

Imo Mclaren’s biggest enemy isn’t Verstappen let alone Red Bull, It’s themselves. They cooked their own strategy, done this time and time again. Lando also bottles pole all the time, and just doesn’t have that killer instinct.

Mclaren is responsible for most of what has happened to be honest. Of course, fact of the matter is Lando bottled a lot of opportunities, but the team does not hold his back like Red Bull does with Max. Its underestimated how important team support is. Take Hungary for example. They basically guilt tripped him into giving Piastri a win, after Lando basically saved both his and Piastris ass from turn 1, because were Piastri to try that divebomb on any other driver, both cars are DED. That ultimately had an influence on the rest of Landos season. Mclaren ruined Landos momentum. Had Mclaren tried to make up for Landos weaknesses (particularly mental ones) we might have had a title fight on our hands still. Of course, fact of the matter is Lando simply does not have that thirst for victory that a champion NEEDS, however I do think too much criticism is put on Lando and not enough on the team, as they share as much of the faults as Lando does if not more. What Mclaren has done is fucking disgusting this season.

Honestly, the McLaren of 2024 feels just like the McLaren of 2000-2012, just without a true S-tier driver. Even back in the 2000s/early 2010s, they were the masters of seizing defeat from the jaws of victory. Early 2000s was just Kimi constantly getting screwed over by his own car. 2005 they threw away because of reliability. 2007 they threw away because of Spygate. 2012 they threw away because of bad strategy, bad pit stops and reliability.

Norris wasn't WDC ready, his car was. People keep saying that Norris will gain experience this year and come back stronger the next year but I don't think so. Max destroyed checo's confidence just driving from P9 in miami 2023 and what happened in Brazil is just another level of confidence crusher. Max was fighting McLaren solo while his teammate is licking windows with stroll and still came out on top. This 4th WDC just feels like proving all the haters wrong who said that max without fastest car would just suck.

When max got the best car last year with the rb19 he just straight up dominated everyone with 19 wins. He is a generational talent and if you switch max or even Lewis with Lando during the middle part of the season where the Mclaren clearly have the best car then we know these guys would already have cleared the championship a few races ago. Max was 24 years, 72 days in 2021 so there isn't that much difference still time for him to catch up if he decides to stay around that long. It looks like it's a given that Max will win his 4th title in a row. From there he needs only to win 2 times more somewhere in the future to become on par with Shumacher & Hamilton in world titles as well. And he's only 27 Hamilton is 39.

Ty for the luv as always 🫶. I also don’t think Lando will recover any time soon. This season has been very tough on him mentally and some people just aren’t built for it. Which is fine - everybody is different. He just gets affected by small things too easily. Whereas Verstappen got unlucky with a badly timed red flag, he used it as motivation.

Isn't it funny how Hulkenberg get's disqualified because Marshals touched his car, but Lando, who starts another lap whilst not allowed and thus endangering the marshals on track that are recovering the vehicle is a simple 5k fine.
Also, Lando has made the same mistake in the past, going an extra lap whilst there was a red flag, and he got a 3 place penalty on the grid (is normally 5). So to be giving him a slap on the wrist is wrong.
