Schumacher- a 40 years old driver that suffered a bike accident a year before his returning into a middlefield car. Hamilton- a 3 wdc at the time …. Is not pretty decent to say this thing, is like saying you defeat Mike Tyson in a boxing match with a gun🤷♂️
Nico's Career/WDC win always reminds me of the saying "luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparation". People always say his win was a fluke or that he got lucky, but he showed up every year with the unwavering belief he could climb to the pinnacle of the sport. His whole life's work gave him the ability to capitalize when his time came in 2016. It definitely didn't happen by chance.
i dont know this dude and never watched f1 back then, but you CANNOT be "just lucky" in winning a wdc a normal "lucky" driver is not WDC contender, just because of the car. you cant drive it to it's full potential and you SURELY cant beat lewis on equal machinery just by being a normal lucky driver. luck is involved, but still is what determines it.
he definitely gave it 100% - but even with HAM engine issues in 2016, it came down to the FINAL race and ROS was almost passed by Vettel, which would have cost him the WDC. Thats how close it was and some of that was definitely luck.
I think a lot of people are unfair to Nico. He only finished 18 points behind Lewis despite having more retirements in 2013 and took Hamilton to an Abu Dhabi title decider twice in 2014 and 2016. I've always believed Hamilton to be the more talented driver, but Nico is better than people, especially some hard-core Hamilton fans, give him credit for.
no shit, he is a world champion who beat Hamilton in the same car, ofc he is better than most drivers on the grid right now, he is better than most drivers who ever drove in f1 (not necessarily among the best champions, but compared to everyone who was ever on f1), drove brilliantly his entire f1 career.
@quase3 some of his drives are truly world class, 2006 Bahrain, 2008 Australia, 2012 China, 2013 Monaco ( 2013 - 2015 ) 2014 Canada with no ERS was so impressive, 2015 Spain 2 stop when Lewis did 3 stop he showed how good is he at tyre management, 2016 Belgium to Singapore, 2016 Japan and finally 2016 Abu Dhabi to finish 2nd with that pressure, I remember watching it live and when he had to overtake Max for the championship that was pressure but tbh he dealt with it like a champion. I think Nico could have easily won more championships definitely. 👍🏽
Maybe if he stayed in F1 a few more years after his 2016 title/didn't suddenly announcement retirement a few days after winning it, he probably would have gained more respect. Champions like Schumacher, Hamilton & Vettel never did that.
Probably because in his WDC year he had a worse average finishing position, less wins, less podiums, and less poles than HAM. The only metric he came on top was the total points.. by 5.. with an entire race less for Hamilton thanks to that brand new engine blowing up while he was leading. He objectively was not the better driver in 2016, let alone across all their seasons together. I respect he brought the fight, but he was never better.
13:05 Vettel never attacked. He knew what was going on, and like Schumacher helped him in Brasil, Vettel just covered Nico and helped to secure his second place. It will never happen, that a german driver stops another german driver to be a world champion, and instead helping a brit. Nothing againts brits, but could you even imagine two brits would do that, so that a german can be world champion? Stuff for horror movies.
Ah yes, that's how it went down - nationalism! Definently not that Vettel just didn't want to be a dick and interfere in championship battle and be respectful, nope...
Everyone crying about this comment, but its mostly true. The other part of it was that Vettel didnt want Lewis to match his title count as there was already so much talk even during the Red Bull years that guys like Lewis and Alonso were far better and that Seb was just getting by on dominant machinery and lack of a challenge by an aging Webber.
People tend to look at Malaysia 2016 but seem to forget the rest of 2016. Nico had that 7 consecutive win streak early on that year. Also, 2016 was the only year where Nico beat Lewis at prestigious tracks like Spa, Monza, Singapore and Suzuka. If we want to bring up Malaysia, never forget that Nico got spun around by Vettel at the first corner and was last.
Well Hamilton was had at least 6 DNF due to engine failures while Rosberg was winning what is fair on that ground??? When fans started to talked all of sudden Hamilton engine problems vanished.... How come no one is talking about that episode too?? Do you think that if Hamilton was scoring points like 3rd, 4th or even 5th, Rosberg would still had won in the end??? I strongly doubt it.
Another thing i point out is Hamilton wouldn't have that many wins if Rosberg had stayed another 2 seasons atleast. There was a stat comparing 4 years of Rosberg with Bottas , it was shocking how different they were
Wished Nico would have stayed past 2016. 2017-2019 would have been spicy if he stayed but he had a family & seemed pretty spent after 2016. Definitely think he was under appreciated in his day & now, Lewis Hamilton from 2014-2018 was a monster
This is definitely the biggest "what if" in F1 for me: we probably would have a seen a three way title battle between Nico, Lewis and Seb in 2017 and 2018. Imagine the scenes and the possible drama. And if it had gone further we might had seen even a different 2021.
Too bad that either Nico or Lewis would be out of Mercedes after 2016. As they're getting so heated to the point they cannot be put together in the same team anymore
I really admire that he left after winning one championship, all he needed to prove was he can beat Lewis with equal machinery once and he left. No one would easily retire when you are at the peak of your career and the fact that your team is dominating. He retired and end his career on a high note. I love Lewis but If Nico is still racing today, Lewis wouldn't had been 7 time world champion.

Vettel, I remember him defending Rosberg at Abu Dhabi was to pay him back for spinning him out on the first lap of Malaysia that same year, and Rosberg made a phenomenal comeback to P4, which people are always overshadowing by Lewis's engine failure. But, let's be real here. Japan was the race that gave Nico the title, not Malaysia. Yeah, Lewis's engine blowing up was a salt in the wound, but Japan was a race where Lewis could claw back, but he just didn't. Nico won the race and stayed in 2nd from USA to Abu Dhabi because he far ahead enough in terms of points to win the title. So he didn't have to worry about winning any more races. Max did also overtake him in Brazil, but spun and gave Nico 2nd place back. But that did not matter if he would have stayed in 3rd, because he would have still won the title by 2 points in Abu Dhabi.
You do realise if Lewis's engine didn't blow up in Malaysia, Nico could have finished the remaining races in 2nd behind Lewis and still lost the Championship!!!!!
Lewis would have won in Malaysia comfortably with Nico not even being in the podium because the 2 Redbulls were 2 and 3 with Nico in p4. Therefore, Malaysia was the reason Nico won because the points result for that race would have been more than enough for Lewis the win the championship even if Nico had finished P2 behind lewis (which he did) for the remaining races.
@@traviscurry1506 But you do realize that it's worth mentioning that Nico would have been taking more risks and pushing harder if Lewis had won in Malaysia. So Nico would have been world champion no matter what. I could also compensate that Lewis's bad starts cost him the title as well.

Great video well worth a sub 👍 keep up the good work
Nico knew that the team dynamic and Lewis’s ego would make for a miserable 2017. He was smart to get out. He got the WC he wanted and has had a great life since retiring. He also taught Lewis he needed to keep his focus on racing during the racing season.
I really loved the joy of Nico and his family after he won his much deserved championship.
I think a lot of people over look that Vettlel didn’t really attack him as much more or less defended him from max
Didn't expect a video on a Monaco based RUclipsr's Formula One career today.
Great stuff🙌🏻
Keep this 2000s vibe style. 👌👌
No doubt about it to be a champion at that level you are a great driver. Hats off to nico for pulling it off. Shame he left the sport when he did, but people do what they do. Great driver
Mental resilience the dude snapped and lost it knowing he was Broken by lewis
I think that year really took its toll on him. But he made his dream come true. And he left on top. And he had all that he wanted. Cheers to Nico.
Good video🙌

CHAMPION that's what he is very fast dude one of very few in my generation hard to go wheel to wheel ❤❤❤
Wow, what a Video
What an under-subsribed channel. Please sub to this guy, better than most channels with hundreds of thousands of subs
