Nico was the ultimate engineer inside the car itself. I credit him so much with the success of Mercedes because he was the one largely behind the testing, feedback and setup of the car. Post Rosberg and reg changes Mercedes has struggled. Yes Lewis had more pace, but knowledge of the car, how it works, how to extract the best from it is ALL Nico. He is the modern scientist that many refer to Lauda/prost of the past as being.

Kimi is very nice and talks a lot when with friends. Total opposite of his public image. And he never blamed other drivers. He was a gentleman in that sense. And if Dennis just offered a more reliable car Kimi could have 4 championships.

He is still my favorite F1 driver. Scary fast with zero fear and no lifting at Eau Rouge. He always seemed to be at the right team at the wrong time. McLaren on kind of a downslope. Steve Nichols had come back to get them back on track and left again as Kimi came in. Ferrari without Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne. A little magic at underfunded Lotus with talented James Allison. Schumacher success had a lot to do with his partnership with Ross and Rory. I wish he was still in F1 but I guess we have to wait for his son. I do not like rich kids in F1 or dynasties, though Max is good. Kimi's son Robin will be the closest we get to having Kimi in F1 again.

What I always thought really ignited him to beat Lewis in 2016 was when Lewis won the championship in 2015. Nico went on to win the last 3 races of 2015 and the first 4 of 2016, that was super impressive, yes Lewis had more reliability issues in 2016 but thats what happens sometimes unfortunately. But you can’t deny Nico upped his game significantly as soon as Lewis had that 3rd championship won

Pretty average. Better than Bottas was though. I mean Alonso and Vettel mopped the floor with him at Ferrari. He was super fast with Mclaren but that only lasted year or two. Just fast with Ferrari after that, same with Lotus. Slowish after that, only 1 win. If he was so talented he would have done better with all those years because he tried, I think the tried way harder than when he was younger, he took it more seriously. Also Kimi is a legend and I will always love him

Kimi was a very good driver, surely not the GOAT, but oh boy some of his passing maneuvers. One Word Championship, and his trademark f-u attitude with journalists was something to write home about.

Raikkonen is one of the fastest ever, and had one of the longest careers ever. Legend.

I was always a Lewis fan, being British. But Nico really sacrificed so much to commit 100% of his mental and physical power in the 2016 season. So much so he knew he couldn't do it again and decided to bow out at the peak. Ultimate champion, they both deserved it that year but still happy that Nico got it.

I love Nico and he is better than good as a F1 driver. But Merc did have to dicker with things to give him an advantage over Lewis in 2016. He deserved it for all the effort he put into F1 from the beginning. I wished he would have stayed in the game for a lot longer but I understand what type of pressure competing with Hamilton put him under. You cannot consistently overcome natural talent and Lewis has that in excess. F1 took a major lost when Nico Rosberg retired way too early.

People liked him because he was his own man and was always a brilliant and fair racer.

Nico did not have the raw talent that Lewis had. But he has intelligence and determination by which he could compensate. He also knew that all the factors that made him champion in 2016 would probably not line up again so easily, so he decided to quit on top. For that I respect him a lot.
