Nico is one of the most underrated drivers of his generation, he is the only one who beat Hamilton in the hybrid era, that's a huge feat, it just sucks that he needed to lose a friendship to win a championship.
VRS, the two would still be friends if nico, like the other teammates from lewis, had played number 2. since, lewis doesn‘t accept an equivalent opponent, he just plays his dirty games. friendships don‘t matter.
TradingKid1998 even though in that same race nico was spun at lap one and Lewis was gifted victory in Monaco and considering he had won the 7 previous races, it’s fare to say he probably would have won in Spain but they crashed in a racing incident. Lewis fans are awful.
TradingKid1998 I’m not a rosberg fan. He might of cheated(IDK) in his defence Monaco is a hard track and quali is where drivers push at max. Also, Lewis made the call to pit in Monaco apparently so that’s on him and they didn’t gift him wins. Hamilton is a great driver and so is rosberg but Hamilton fans are stupid. They never accept that Lewis was beaten. In 2013, I don’t know what you are talking about, nico drove well and won. Simple. Also, this was like the only season ever that Lewis had worse reliability than nico in his entire career
TradingKid1998 I kind of understand you’re logic. Both drivers did great IMO. Although, why didn’t Lewis win the race if he was faster. if I remember correctly I saw Nico in a talkshow on german tv after his wdc win were he spoke a bit about why he retired. I didn't tune in in time and its a while ago but if remember correctly he said something along the likes of really having the dream of becoming a world champion but knowing that he wouldn't become the best of all time, outscoring Schumacher and so on and that he was under immense pressure even before the start of the season and suffered from that but just wanted to win a championship or something like that. Some people say that he ultimately surrendered to the pressure and I can see where this view comes from but in my opinion that makes his achievements by no means smaller but maybe even greater. He knew his biggest problems/"fears" and he faced them and not only overcame his opponents but himself to achieve his biggest goal. After he won the Championship he already was a Formula One World Champion, it doesn't get any better for almost all racing drivers or athletes in general then ultimately becoming the worlds best in their sport. So he retired with the biggest achievement he could imagine. That sounds more theatrical than i imagined but sums up what I personally think about it. He knew he couldn't become the best of all times (more than 7 WDC's) so he retired being the best of the season, far more than most drivers ever come close to. I was not even a Nico fan in that year but I highly respect the decision to leave on a high than to drag himself along for a few years, achieving maybe one, maybe none other title in god knows how many seasons instead he now is with his family and can go to races when he wants to, not when he has to
Saying they were more than good mates they were brothers. Nico and Lewis basically grow up together. They stay in the same room together when racing overseas.
He told on top gear that his dad put a car in a ditch because keke rosberg pulled their car's handbrake when they were headed to a carting or junior formula ( I don't remember correctly) event together 😂
You need balls the size of Jupiter to divebomb Max of all people with the WDC at risk. I never was a fan of Nico (didn't hate him either), but that move massively increased my respect for him
fighting for a WDC title against Lewis needs a truck load of huge balls to begin with. Divebomb Max is probably one of the small ones if you really think about it.
He really is underrated, rationally seen I surely couldn’t name 50 drivers in F1s history, who were better drivers than Rosberg. And that’s one hell of an achievement thinking that I don’t know but let’s say only the 1000 more or less greatest racing drivers of all time in general even making it into F1.
@AdamsAudiVlog * yes. So did hamilton in 2008. Massa's engine blow in hungary, singapore win thrown out by the crashgate. So stop whining about mechanical dnfs. Do you not watch f1? Nonsense he was never in that position, they were both top tier, number 1 drivers. there was only once in Monaco 2014 I believe where he was holding up a much faster Lewis in the wet and asked to move over. He held station in Malaysia 2013. Ross maybe feeling he had enough chances to pass Lewis and failed each time. Bottas, contrary to popular opinion always puts himself in this predicament because of his race craft. Remember him holding back against a crippled Seb in Spain I think.. he just doesn`t have the speed, hence he falls away in the championship and enters the `help your teammate zone`. Which is not the same as when Ferrari told Leclerc to hold station in Australia of all places. Charles answered this nonsense with his driving.. Something Bottas has never done. Remember 2017 or 2018 Hungary? Bottas moved over, Hamilton failed to catch the Ferraris then he moved over for Bottas. Why because it was still early in the season. Peace
His biggest moment of brilliance was when he demanded to swap mechanics with Hamilton, then magically Hamilton had 4 engine failures in 2016 and all other Mercedes powered cars had 1 total that year. MAGIC

Nobody says that Nico Rosberg isn´t legend Work so so hard in Williams, make unpredictables podiums, fight in first position some races Beat Schumacher in Mercedes, always was in high level, amazing battles with Hamilton for the title. DESERVE WORLD CHAMPION AND GENTLEMAN DRIVER
Two missing moments: Canada 2014: both Mercs had failing power units and hot brakes. While Hamilton retired, Nico nursed his car to the end. Abu Dhabi 2014: Nico wanting to take his failing car to the end, finishing, and then immediately going and congratulating Lewis.
I was looking for this. His team radio from Abu Dhabi: "I would like to go to the end!" Something in his voice showed determination and sheer mental strength.
Well in this situation it was the only chance for him to win the championship so of corse he did that... honestly why is everbody always complaining about hamilton team orders are bad/dumb and everything but if you fight for your result its also not okay? I dont like hamilton to much but its wierd that everybody is complaining about lewis... the move from alonso to hamilton was even worse (and im a big alonso fan)
Indeed he is, win at all costs is a phylosophy I understand, but then where is sportmanship? NIco enjoyed his championship win, and Hamilton could resume winning after, I don't understand why soreness is transferred to his fanboys, he keeps winning, can we all just move on?
@@rpgrap6461 The reason people complain is look at what Mercedes does to Bottas and did to Nico there are times he will be in the race lead and James will force him to let Lewis pass so he wins the race and championship and he was willing to do it to be a good teammate but look at what Lewis did here its not about fighting for your result in this situation that was his teammate who has helped him win championships before but when it is time for u to return the favor he fails to do so and also look at him when he loses and Bottas or Nico wins he turns into such a sore loser but when it is the other way around they are so happy because they want the team to win, like its more the shoe is on the other foot scenario plus look at the fact at how James always plays favorite to Lewis and then he's like we will return the favor but they never do case in point letting him pass in Sochi
Aditya G i know what you mean im a bottas fan but in this race this was the only chance for lewis to get the championship and it was a team vs team fight not a nico vs seb/max fight so its clear that hes slowing down... and its also pretty common and okay to let a mate pass if hes faster (like alonso with massa or hamilton bottas often) its just not fair to do it like schuhmacher (if you need to let him past before the finish line) and its also pretty common to split the strategy (its maybe not fair for both but its the best for the team) its just really unfair if you do it like ferrari with kimi or if hamilton says he want to box they pit bottas because of that and then you stay out and push for an overcut
@@rpgrap6461 well what he did was justifiable , but in this case lewis himself told the team that he would never perform such a move in the team meeting before the race. Moreover he always keeps complaining and does not feel the same if he looses which is just a dickish move. Also if nico wanted he could take hamilton out of the race along with him by a crash and he would still win it , but he did not attempt it.....so class is something not everyone possess
Is it, really? During these last laps when Lewis was slowing Nico down into Vetel and Verstappen, he must have realized that Mercedes can't (or won't) control Lewis, and that he'd always get priority. It was an easy decision for him at that point, and I fully understand him. It was also an unbearable situation: had they continued next year and Lewis won (which was much more likely, considering the treatment he was getting from the team), Nico would have to stay and listen to b.s. like how he wasn't actually as good as Lewis. By deciding to retire then and there, he'd be forced to listen what a coward he is and how he should defend. There really wasn't a good solution to this. But I am ultimately glad for Nico and how things turned out. He did leave a mark in F1 and I wish him to have a great life together with his family.
It's pretty clear that Lewis had more natural talent and was overall a superior driver when he really tried. But in 2016 Nico clearly had better preparation and that year hard work and dedication triumphed over natural genius. Lewis, undoubtedly would lkhave come out hard against Nico the next year and Merc couldn't really do much about it. So, after achieving his lifelong dream, he decided to retire on a high than take the immense pressure of defending the title against a raging Hamilton and ending it in disappointment.
Nico is definitely one of my favorite drivers along with Kimi and Nigel Mansell. They may only have single championships, but they fought for it for a very long time until they finally achieved it.
It’s criminal that Mansell only has 1 championship. He fought such legends like Senna, Prost, Piquet constantly and come close to winning. Like Alonso, his number of WDCs don’t show his true talent.
@@cereal-killer4455 Its more criminal Raikkonen only has 1 in my view. He was just sublime From 2002-2007. Those 2003 and 2005 championships should have been Kimi's. Mansell was great too. But he made more mistakes than Kimi did in the races at their peaks.
@@cereal-killer4455 I've watched every season since 1981. Mansell was an iconic driver. But he made quite a few mistakes. Nigel was more charismatic than anyone though.

I hope Daniel Ricciardo does the same!
Matt lol, not if he doesn’t win a WC. If he does, I might reconsider but i don’t see it happening. Nico drove like a hero all of that year, Valterri is going to have to kick it into 9th gear to impress more than that.
Rosberg, Senna, Prost, Alonso and Button had the zing that some teammates just don't have to defeat their champion teammates despite having the same car. Bottas, Ervine, Barichello, Coulthard, Webber and Kovleinen are just a few examples of drivers that didn't.
I doubt that. I like Nico more than I like Lewis and even I can admit, to come up like Lewis did and be a WC must have been amazing feeling. He grew up not white, not rich, and no father in F1 to teach him anything about the sport on that level. You know he was told he could not do it by some... He probably heard it all his life at every level. Nico has a F1 champ father. To him I bet it was expected in the back of his mind.
I completely get why he retired after one works champ. He proved he could do it, job done. I suspect Hamilton wants to prove he’s the best ever and that’sa much much longer slog. Hamilton’s multi world championships are the stepping stones to greatness so yah, I suspect Nico being happy with one WC probably does mean more to him because his ambition is less than Hamilton’s
@@hyperslow3810 that's why nicos job was harder. Lewis had the luck nobody expected him to become a great driver while Nico had to struggle with the expectations in the shadow of his father. And by the way: The way you are saying Lewis was never white is the real racism. Saying so is putting focus on skin color. What disadvantage dis Lewis have because he is not white? None. And that is what is has to be like. Instead of talking about skin color again and again and again we should live together in harmony without assuming racism in everything. Nico Rosbeeg is one of the most underrated drivers. I think a lot of what he accomplished was missed either because of the poor performance of the early Merc or just how strong Hamilton was from 2014-2016.
Absolutely. And people seem to have already forgotten what an absolute beast Nico was in qualifying. I don't think there's been many other drivers out there that can match (and even beat!) Hamilton consistently like he did. Verstappen might be the only one at the moment.

Gotta admire him for retiring at his peak, in some ways it's better to do that than to see you slip down before you retire. I think it was clear to him that the Mercedes team were always going to favourite Hamilton, and he knew that whilst he best him thst season, it took a monumental effort and rosberg realised that there's only so much you can do when a team is favouring your teammate.

I personally believe that is the most brilliant moment as well.
I mean, he could of won if he was faster but he wasn’t because he was beaten. That’s just my opinion. They both did interesting things to try beat each other. Bahrain they were great
@TradingKid1998 2014 hamilton won because of electronics issue in abu dhabi.
I like that last sentence. "Job done."
Pretty much sums up his career. Working up to the world championship over a decade, then leaving when hes done it
if I remember correctly I saw Nico in a talkshow on german tv after his wdc win were he spoke a bit about why he retired.

2021 max vs Lewis
@@besis7673 max and lewis is only about pushing other cars of the track. the battle rosberg vs hamilton was miles better
Unbelievable video. Enormous respect to Rosberg... The emotional strength needed to soak up the 2014, 2015 season defeats to Hamilton (arguably the greatest driver of all time now) and come back hungrier than ever to prove his worth in 2016 is actually incredible. Pay attention to him if you have aspirations. Many lessons to be learned here.
Nico Rosberg will go down as one of the greatest. Retiring on the highest note in your career is such an incredible move. Just respect for this man. Nothing more Nothing less
Nico Rosberg would be always my man in The Formula World
"Rosberg retired... Job done."
Enough to make a grown man cry.
Don't see anyone else mentioning this but Nico had some of the coolest helmet designs ever! The only one for me that rivaled vettel in cool helmets.
What a player. He will remain in our hearts now and forever 💚❤️
12:46 this was heartbreaking. That was no way to treat a “friend”, nor a Mercedes teammate. Sir Lewis Ramilton 🐐 the goat is no team player.
You heard of Senna-Prost? The friendship was long dead and they were competitors before they were teammates, as it should be.
Big Hamilton fan but it was heart breaking to see that. Hamilton has come a long way now and is a much better sportsman but I think that toxic rivalry and friend turned rival messed up his head. That was plain bad and just the most unsportsman like behaviour I have ever witnessed. Huge hamilton fan again... Heartbreaking!
@@phantom.95 well he only is a better sportsman because he has won everything since then. let verstappen battle him in the same car, having a fight for the world championship and hamilton will be the same guy as he used to be against rosberg. but thats what makes him (one of) the best ever.
I'm no Hamilton fan but what he did makes sense hes trying to win a world title not a friendship award I'm sure every single world champion would do the same thats how they get to the level of being world champion
I am not even a Hamilton fan but he did absolutely what was required of him. The only way for him to win the championship was to finish first and have rosberg finish 4th or lower. This was his only chance and he decided to take it.
11:36 the look of pure rivalry
Man, winning the World Championship on the last race and having your wife there to share that with. Life and relationship goals: ACHIEVED
Looking back, 2016 is really an amazing year to see the intense teammate battle between those two
With 23 win and a world title. Nico retried Job done. Got goosebumps at that time 13:47
Thank you for this video 💖 Really miss him at F1. But on the same time he seems more happy now and has other passions. So I think he did everything right. 😊 He is happy so I am happy for him 😊
That smirk behind the hand from wolf man at 12:08
Clearly wanted lewis to win. Respect to Nico for not beating lewis but beating the team also. 👏
absolute legend.....just loved him in the mercedes, true true champion....those 7 wins on the trot against hamilton is something few can do ....mad mad respect
When he dive bombed Max my stomach still clenches as they nearly collide even when I have watched so many times I still have that feeling
Amazing
He came from far away. He wasn't right on the rear wing, which makes it even better. Perfect pass for a World Championship
I said it before and I’ll say it again
He gets a lot of crap but he was a faster driver than he gets credit for.
As a relatively new F1 fan I seriously regret that I couldn't get to know this guy.
Me too🔥🔥🔥
So many beautiful memories. Thank you Nico 😊
9:57 You know your drive has been highly impressive when Niki lifts his hat to respect and appreciate your drive
Just wanted Nico's and Hamilton's friendship to be better
@Matt Horkan lmaooo what a comment
RUclips psychologists are the best
@Matt Horkan lol
Whew, it's a mess in these comments... he beat Schumacher and Hamilton in the same equipment, haters gonna hate!
@Chris Different time of F1 history. That is irelevant.
Hamilton and schumacher are just better
@@lorenzodossantos2975 True but also false. Rosberg beating down Hamilton in 2016. Alonso, Button never managed to do it. Rosberg also beat Schumacher in Mercedes when in return. so Rosberg is clearly underated .
@@mikawelll To be fair tho, This wasn't schumachers best years to be racing since he was old. Otherwise i agree he was underrated
Lol Schumacher WAAAAAAY past his Prime...Stupid comparison
Goosebumps throughout the whole video 😭 true beauty of racing
3:56 When Rosberg and Hamilton were still friends
Nico Rosberg: IS NICO ROSBERG’S CAREER OVER?!
Ha!
I just wait for this comment
yes
I can hear the explosion behind him.
I miss Nico's brilliant driving...one of my all time favorites!
The last driver with big enough balls to take on Lewis and beat him fair and square.
Others had balls and talent too, but didn't have the car. Hamilton wouldn't win many WDCs if he wasn't in Mercedes.
@@cinegraphics what an idiotic comment. rosberg would have a world title if he wasnt in a Mercedes.
@@Fabbie4 you wanted to say "Rosberg wouldn't..." and not "Rosberg would..." right?
