It is obvious you are a new F1 fan, saying that his statistics make him the greatest ever. Thats not how F1 works. Well, statistically he is, but he is not solely Responsible for it. Different car different stats, different team mate different stats, more competition from other teams different stats. It means many variables have influence on the stats. This is to differentiate to non-team sports like tennis or snooker, where the player is 100% responsible for succes.
      Please note the difference.

Hamilton has had some of the best drives, ever. And it’s not just when there were difficult circumstances for everyone in the track, it’s the fact that when it was hard for everyone, he drove well and then drove better. Silverstone 2008 is in my mind the greatest wet drive of all time. To think if there was a few more laps he would have lapped the whole field, even 2nd place. If his McLaren wasn't more unreliable and he didn't have many unlucky races that other drivers crashed into him when in some of them he was gonna win the race (like crashes with Grosjean, Maldonado, Webber, Button, Hulkenberg) he should've basically beat button by around 100pts and won one of those championships between 2010 to 2012. Even if in his last race Hulkenberg didn't end his race, he would've still scored more points.

    • @kevinjohnbetts
      @kevinjohnbetts 4 года назад +5

@@ParhamAz Maybe, but Jensen was in the same car and had his own share of ill-fortune (the 2011 World Championship could have been his with a little more luck). Again I don't believe Jensen was/is better than Lewis but they were closer than anyone expected when Jensen joined McLaren even if it's arguable that Lewis should have scored more points. I would add that Lewis has had the accusation of inconsistency levelled at him by Nico Rosberg, maybe others if memory serves but I'm not going to Google dozens of pages just to make that point. Hamilton himself acknowledges that his time at McLaren was troubled, that he was capable of putting in the fast laps but not always the full races. Worth remembering that Jensen was 10 years into his F1 career when he joined McLaren whereas Lewis was only 3 years in and that experience gap probably showed, Just my opinion of course.
Btw I am a big fan of Lewis but Jensen has a special place in my heart, largely because I stopped watching F1 around the same time that Jensen's career started tailing off. The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix is a personal favourite for all those reasons. I wonder if Lewis will be motivated enough to try for three more F1 World Championships and whether that record could be matched. Who knows? 🙂

His performance in Brazil 2021 belongs somewhere on this list. In Quali, he snatched P1. Got sent to P20 by the stewards. Fought his way up to P5 in the Sprint. Then was set back to P10 for the start of the race. During the race, Max was doing what he could to keep Lewis behind, but Lewis proved to us all that you can beat him up and he still won't back down.
He then went on to win in Qatar and Jeddah to break even with Max for the grand finale. No one can deny that Lewis could have won his 8th title had it not been for the questionable decision-making during the safety car period. I also believe his team missed the opportunity of putting him on fresh rubber so that he could put up a better fight against Max in the final lap.
Lewis has rewritten the history books in such a powerful way. He had great cars and teams to help him get there. On the other hand, you need a great driver to drive a great car. If you were to put me in those great cars, I may just damage the car and hurt other drivers around me. Lewis isn't infallible, but he is far from ordinary.
I don't root for just one driver in particular. It is amazing to see Max win. Watching Leclerc fly through the streets of Monaco is exhilerating. Carlos Sainz becoming a race-winner. Checo fighting from last to first. Russell is fitting in at Mercedes. I root for all of them.

2009 - Drove a tractor and led it to podiums, and when it got better in terms of pace, won the very first race with it, until he DNF'd due to technical issues and season was over.
2011 - The only non RedBull pole and it was by Hamilton.
So, he is very much a WDC without mercedes.
In the same car, over his career he has beaten 3 WDCs - Alonso (finished equal on points, but outqualified him), Button (Out qualified and out raced him over the cumulative of 3 seasons), Rosberg (also out qualified and out raced him over 3 seasons).
Schumacher never had such team mates. Neither did Vettel. They never had a challenge in the fastest car. Hamilton had, and came out on top.
By far the best wet weather driver of his generation, no one even comes close. Wet weather negates the superiority of the car and demands higher skill from the driver.

@@rfhsgaming1938 Oh don't get me wrong, Hamilton is no doubt one of the greatest drivers of the late 2000s and 2010s, but there's no doubt in my mind that he would not be a x7 WDC without Mercedes. Mercedes won the constructors most if not every year after the hybrid engine change, and almost all of those years as well their drivers won WDC. Sure, he could definitely win a couple, but no way 7, especially with most of them being in a row.
Even just looking at him now, without a incredibly superior car he's been floating around 5-7th place, only claiming a podium in Bahrain because both Red Bulls DNF'ed. Not bad by any means, but not podiuming every race he didn't DNF like in years past. You could argue that it's just he's getting old like Alonso, Vettel, and Raikkonen and can't keep up anymore, but it wouldn't explain his extremely dominant performances just a year earlier.

I'm a Ferari fan, and without without hamilton glasses, i must say the drive was impressive. However, I am wondering competitive it was. The engine of mercedes is just so much better then any other. 20-30KM/H faster is actually insane on straight line, no skill involved here.
How Hamilton is controlling the car is actually amazing.

Much of Mercedes’ success has coincided with that of mercurial driver Lewis Hamilton. In terms of race wins, he is by far the most successful member to have donned the Silver Arrows overalls.
It is, therefore, surprising that when asked about their favourite driver, the engineering staff at the team did not take the name of the 36-year-old.
The Brackley Brothers - Andrew Shovlin, James Vowles, Ron Meadows, and Simon Cole - were present on F1’s podcast called Beyond the Grid. They have had a long haul at the team, having been present since it was BAR, then Honda, then Brawn GP, and finally, Mercedes. For them, German legend Michael Schumacher is the best driver they have worked with.
“Michael Schumacher, but mainly because I was in the awe of him before he arrived and when he left the team, I was even more in the awe of him just because of how he behaved and treated all the team members,” said Ron Meadows.
“Is Lewis listening? Does he listen to your podcast?” Simon Cole asked with a little chuckle.
“I would say Michael Schumacher, not just because it’s sort of the common theme, but because he was genuinely impressive when we worked with him.”
Chief strategist Vowles had a similar opinion. He spoke about how Schumacher completely changed his initial perception of him.
“I would go with Michael because I had a perception that was entirely wrong of him before he joined,” he said.“I thought he was arrogant, I thought he was cold because that’s the impression you got. It took me just minutes before I realized that’s not true.“ And his greatness really shone in that period where we were with him and we learned a lot from him.
”It is tough to leave out Jenson Button as far as engineer Shovlin is concerned. They duo formed an impressive partnership that saw Button win the world championship in 2009. For Shovlin, it was tough to look beyond Button.
“I can’t leave Jenson out, can I? I saw, as an engineer, I was learning on-the-job very much with him and just a lot of happy memories and funny moments.”

For me, and I can say this as I was there, the most unexpected moment of Hamilton's career was qualifying for his first home Grand Prix, Silverstone 2007. Through practice and most of qualifying, it did not seem like he would be able to fight for the win or pole position but he put in a pole position lap that was just over a tenth from the rest of the field right at the end of the session. The crowd celebrations were louder that his engine that day. My Dad had a radio next to his ear tuned in to the Public Address system on Radio Silverstone, he heard the news a fraction of a second before everyone else and people around us were asking him excitedly, "did he do it, did he do it?!"

For most drivers its hard to find top 10 moments of their brilliance 'cause they barely have that many at all, but for Hamilton its only because he had too many moments of brilliance and its very hard to pick a top 10 out of the hundreds. This is why hes the GOAT. :)
