- In today’s spoiler-free movie review, I have to give a big thank you to For the Love of Horror and Sony Pictures UK for giving me a press screening to Eli Roth’s new movie: Thanksgiving, which hits cinemas on November 17th 2023.
A little information about, Thanksgiving:
Thanksgiving is an American slasher film directed by Eli Roth, from a screenplay written by Jeff Rendell and a story by Roth and Rendell, who produced with Roger Birnbaum. It is based on Roth's mock trailer of the same name from Grindhouse (2007). The film stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon.

This was awesome to see as part of For the Love of Horror con, it's definitely one of my favourite horrors of the year. Patrick Dempsey's accent did really distract me though! 😅

I had fun with this one as well Mike. Definitely going to pick up the Blu Ray as there’s no 4k at least for now. I was cracking up with the dark humor and I agree about the deaths.

What an exciting first ever press screening, Mike!! Great review! You had some similar thoughts to me about the characters not being super deep or memorable. Did you happen to notice the issues in the third act that I did? I am curious to see whether a second viewing changes my mind ...

Yeah I think we have the same issues, I felt like the 3rd act was rushed, with some sloppy explanation / tacked on without much meaning or care which was a shame
Great review, man! Definitely looking forward to checking it out at some point. As for right now, Scream 6 and Chucky season 3 are my favorite slashers of the year.

Awesome review man been hearing some good things about this movie and loved the trailer for this one so happy to hear there are some violent kills with amazing practical effects love the undercooked line with a thanksgiving movie I see what you did there

Nice to hear the cinematography is very well done. Seems pretty straight forward and like you’d figure things out pretty fast. Definitely a decent amount of positives. I should check this out!

Would you say it’s like scream. And did they do lots of press screening across Uk. And how did you know it was practical effect and not cgi. Sad about Addison and Milo just being ok. And what did the video message say.
So it’s not like Scream in terms of being meta, but there’s some social commentary for sure. And you can tell it’s practical that’s been used, cgi would be obvious mage

Agreed fam, Slasher film of the year. Terrifier still is the bar, but this is a solid Slasher fa sho. The characters stunk up the room, but who cares when watching a film like this lol. BTW, that shirt is kickass fam, and kickass review as well 👊🏾💯
Terrifier is the peak of gore fam!
Nothing will match that, but Eli Roth certainly tried to get match it 😂
