Holly shit I was a fan, but now I’m a whole fucking air conditioner!!!!😳🤯
Good one!
[`M A STEALIN` THAT.
THANKS
Myself!! In awe! Amazed! Shut up and shut in ! How could it get any better! My body is happy!
Lmao...Great comment !!
If, back in 1995, you had told me Billy K. and some then-three-year-old kid would be carrying the torch in 2021, with a band that is SPITTING FIRE, I would have said “that’s fantastic!” and given you a couple high fives.
Love how literal and specific this is
True that!!!!
🙌🙌🙌
✋
Amen
James Casey on Sax! Wow!
🫶🫶🫶
RIP James Kasey. You were the MVP of these RR shows !!
Billy Strings is gonna save music
Apparently that's the tempo for Franklin's. Fantastic. Bluegrass meets Dead.
Grateful Grass ⚡️
Can we trade out john for billy and bring the music back to over the top inspiring, goosebump giving, eyes closed dancing one more time bob dosent have many tours left, johns good billy is great
I love the idea. Truth b told, the Grateful Dead died years ago. Leave these guys alone. They r killing it!!!
James Casey on sax is phenomenal. Epic.
he is outstanding
Yah man he’s incredible!
He makes the magic for sure
Sorry to report that James Casey died recently. Cause of death was reported to be colon cancer. Rest in Peace, James.
I hope his family and loved ones know that he brought greatful joy to many
James Casey RIP 🙏. So young rest your soul. Bless your entire family. I seen you play with Phil Lesh and Friends a few times. Your musicianship, your smile , you having a great time on stage caught my attention immediately. Thank You 🙏
Holy SMOKIN SHEEEET ! They blow the doors off Dead & Company !
Tom Hamilton is the lead guitarist/vocalist for Joe Russo's Almost Dead too... Equally as impressive, but they don't have the sax
OMG I just discovered Billy Strings while hunting some David Allen Coe and….. Whollllyyy Crap this Billy Strings Blew My Mind. !
Fourth row center this night
Best show I ever attended
Sax guy is playing lights out.... and the band is absolutely rocking! This Billy and the Kids incarnation just might be a thing lol
James plays with Everyone Orchestra a bunch.
Good time.
Also in Trey’s band
James Casey passed away. @surfer
RIP James Casey. I watch this on repeat; you are so mesmerizing.
THIS is the real dead and company
How can one not but love this! Speaks for itself, and is a perfect example of catching live music, witnessing a show such as this, only to be reminded that moments such as these change in a snap of the fingers. RIP, Mr. Casey! Thank you for your musicianship and passion and contribution to music.
And...damn if this just isn't smokin'!!! Amazing!!! God bless ya, young Billy Strings. You are on of the torch holders, as well as this fine ensemble of musicians in this band! Rock on, Gents!!
Hottest show on earth presently
I’ve lived in Denver for 10+ years and I have always said how I couldn’t wait for the MLB all star game and home run derby to be back here and how I wouldn’t miss it for anything.
Well I missed it for these two amazing shows!
Good choice.
Definitely a smart choice!
You certainly have your head screwed on straight!
Fare you well, my brother

Anyone who has ever tripped at red rocks knows the power this natural colliseum brings to the music
Or had the scars to remember it! (Me, Both)
Amen brother
I hope all the mystique of RR is all its cracked up to be. If I really made a bucket list, or do make one seeing a show there is gonna be on the "realistic" part of the list lol. Diggin The Who cover. Billy and the Kids seemed to enjoy playing it too!🍄✌
@@bluecollar825 something about the natural landscape and the angle of the rocks, and the -perspective of the rest of the city/state of colorado is so immersive and captivating. if you walk from the first row straight up to the top during a show you will see how thousands of people react in this dramatic intensity that can only be seen there, as if they are a part of the very show in which they are appearing in front of
@@johnlenz420 WOW...incredibly well said !
the amazing compositions of the dead live on.. Billy S the most refreshing young strings talent I've seen in years.. yeah baby ! ... MAKE AMERICA GRATEFUL AGAIN !
Hell yeah make America grateful again
Right On !
Miles Davis said a band is no better than their drummer. Mr. K here clearly shows his chops ...
Billies and the Kids, Please come to California!!!
Can't get better than this super talented band setting fire to both a great old Who tune and Franklin's Tower, wow, eh? Billy K is just on fire, and Billy S has saved not only bluegrass but also the Dead's amazing legacy for a new generation -- not bad for a youngster, eh? I was there for many Dead shows back in the day, and I can say to the young folks who weren't there that they need not worry, the flame burns on here, really.
This gives me hope. Billy strings, molly tuttle, Marcus king, GOOSE lol let’s fucking go my generation doesn’t suck after all 😂😂
Have you not heard Joe Russo's Almost Dead (JRAD)? If you want a good Dead show that's where it's at.... You're listening to their lead guitarist/vocalist here... Tom Hamilton
@@bumblebootwiddletoes5185 jrad is fucking amazing. Totally different but I enjoy jrad more based on my biases.
@@bumblebootwiddletoes5185 DSO puts on a hell of a “Dead” experience too
JRAD is awesome
One of the most fire set openers in music history, this brings me chills every time I watch. The extended opening, the shots of Bill looking out to the crowd, James weaving in his sax, Aaron's sick piano solo, Reed's thumping bass and Billy's soul squeezing vocals bring this Who song alive like it never has been before. I can't put into words how much this video means to me. More Billy and the Kids please
How can you leave out Tommy Hamilton? He's brilliant
@@bumblebootwiddletoes5185 you are right…Tom’s 20 scarfs and energy always kill it
Spot on. And the video production staff do a great job with this presentation. The opening sequence plays like a Hitchcock thriller. The 40 seconds of musical silence, with pan shots of band members ready to unleash the beast, and the silent audience, anxiously awaiting the unknown inevitability.
Tom kicks so much ass. His only “problem” is that he’s not BMFS 🤷♂️😂
Their interplay throughout these shows was so pure. Instant chemistry
Yes and yes
That join together is fuckin🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Priceless
At 49 years old, and many concerts this is in my top 10, easily. It was EPIC!
Facts I have been to thousands of shows
Billy Strings can ROCK!!!
I've watched this video dozens of times. Still the best damn thing on RUclips!
truly - this is the cat's meow - at red rocks no less - a spiritual eperience - now that i have meh a full "head" of steam ima gonna be wishing i was a headlight on a north-train - searching for my long forgotten soul out there in the cool colorado rain . . .
Just incredible and how awesome that this video will be watched over next 100 years. I have seen it at least 25 past 6 months.
Billy can sang!!!
Fair winds James Casey. Stellar. 🙏✌
That Who cover just rocks my world.
Love Billy Strings! Sax player is fire!!!
Sax player dont miss a lick- reminds me of
Wiping every last bite of breakfast off the plate with a piece of bread- wide and sassy. Go bro.
Billy+ keep it up. Keep getting in between " in-between" -
Humble Dharmic enough for his antennae of Spirit not to get ego muddled. Entheo- musically- Liberated!
Immense talent on that stage. Every so often a band is able to capture and express a certain energy that comes from a different place and strikes that nerve. These guys figured it out
ain't that the truth, and they took it to a whole new level
From a 40+ year dead fan, this band is just smoking. Freakin' love it!
This is another shining example of the torch being shared, while being passed, and yeah...We're going to be alright!? 💖
I am 70 years old army veteran and I am loving Billy’s choices of music when music shaped my outlook on life!😊
This is one band worth joining together with
You better believe I'm joining together with the band, nothing would keep me away.
BURN IT YOU HAVE IT!!!
It looks like to me that anyway human beings we are evolving. Thirty years and more back, only few were able to flow through the channel that Jarry had opened with the Other Side and bring back magic. Nowadays many amazing talents are sliding with joy towards Jerry's dimension and this is just great. Bringing back shamanic experiences in everydays life. All is good
Got me old A harp fired up on this one...yee haw.
Absolute FIRE right here
WOW!!!!
The whole band is composed of absolute masters, yet Billy stands tall. Incredible!
Billy and team, Thank You. May the sweet sounds of GD bounce of the red rocks forever.
All I can say is just FANTASTIC! Best ‘Join Together’ I’ve ever heard.
They brought some fire with that one.
The Who does it well.
I just found my new inspiration.
I have been listening and watching clips from both shows for 2 months now. This is absolutely EPIC - hands down the best live music I have heard in a long long time. Total chemistry meshes the pure talent from each of the musicians. Hope there is more to come
Billy Strings shreds
Tip 'o the hat to The Who.
Holy sh*t this is some realness
Fire on the mountain. One hell of an assembly.
Holy shit billy
Just a stage full of amazing
I cannot see myself stopping playing this continuously for the next few years... this is nirvana
Wow this is excellent, someone said far from the dead? Wake up!!
I was at this show, about row 56 middle. These guys are like unreal!
I think I like these guys better than the Weir/Mayer band.🤠
Anybody that doesn't doesn't have ears
Me too bro
yeah it's not even close. now if Weir would allow tempos above torpid, they'd be great.
@@kmartinpa haven't seen them yet this year, but I'm flying to the Florida shows. I hope it's not as bad as people say
Of course, we have Billy Strings here !
Love strings
so incredible to hear strings sing townsend,,,phenomenol
You mean Daultry for this song
@@timothymoran2010 well sing townshends lyrics... thats all daugtry did was sing townshends lyrics
I want this to happen again I will not miss it
Loving this bands vibes....
Can anyone else hear a major major difference in Billy’s comfort level on the acoustic vs the electric? I’m excited to watch him develop this .. he seems a touch out of his element but that’s exactly how you get better .. i bet this will hit way harder in a year and a half
Billy has lots of experience with electric guitar. Whatever you feel for this is your own judgement.
Just saw Billy, at RR with SCI. He played a lot of electric and it blew my fucking mind lol. Might have been the drugs though.
He was in a death metal band he's used to screding
I was there it was epic
That kid is a fucking phenom
The best cover band ever!
This is a "Super-Group" amongst the best (Traveling WIlburys) of 4ever - imhfo
Damn this is a good band ,Billy Kreutzmann still rockin
wow! this is good ol shakin' your legs musica. Love it love it love it
What an incredible show.
I love this too! TH needs a bit more recognition. He and Billy are great together and they are equally talented!
Agreed 100%
Id have to totally disagree with your assessment. While TH is a very skilled guitarist who can shred, but there's a remarkable difference in these red rocks videos when TH takes a solo and when billy starts ripping his solos there is an immediate difference. Billy has that light in him where his playing can take you to a spiritual realm. His playing is much more spaced out and effortless. I saw JRAD one week ago at pier 6 pavilion in Baltimore and it felt like GD on crystal meth. It was a great time for sure but TH shredding faster and faster made the jams much more predictable which isn't solely THs fault but I just didn't feel any space in the music where anything can happen. Tempo just faster and faster until it becomes a shred fest.
Way cool start with Join Together, always a favorite Who tune of mine
and they're settin' us on fire
HOLY F@$&EN SHIT! They need to take this on a national tour. I mean I know these shows have been fire, but opening with a Who song like this and the overall energy is just off the charts. This makes me sad for D&C 😪. One is fresh and looking forward, and the other is a museum nostalgia show rooted in the past. While I recognize the need for it, it's time it be retired. Billy and Kids, JRAD and Grateful Shred is the future. I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I did.
Theres no reason we cant have both. If you prefer one over the other then only go to those shows. I saw both nights of Billy and the kids as well as both nights of Bobby and the Wolf bros at red rocks. Both shows were awesome in their own ways.
Remember DSO? Founded by an old buddy. RIP Scott Larned!
they would have deep roots if they toured
this is a project
I think d n c will turn it up I caught a few d an c shows last tour an some were alot better than other but thats alway the way the dead have ben lol it what makes you want go to more shows lol il tell you I I was at the Shea stadium when they busted the tiger . Omg that showed rocked was on fire all night few days before that at spec it was decent but not like Shea stadium was. Plus whqt ppl don't understand is it actually harder to play slow than is to play fast. Sounds odd but I bet most musicians will agree no??
Billy & Almost Biscuit Strings
I think they have something going on I know I like it I had to turn it up WOW oh ya a little Grateful Dead. Why not. You sometimes put something together and you hit it Rock on.
Good old fashioned Rock and Roll revival... Reverend Billy! Love it!!!
This shit is fucking awesome
Is no one giving props to the great Tom Hamilton from Joe Russo's Almost Dead? Probably not apparent without his signature cap and scarf. He's a freakin machine as one guitar aficionado has commented.
Also without his glasses, but singing and playing ever so fine.
I came here for Robert Plant, but I'm so excited that I stayed for Franklin's Tower! You guys are flippin' Outstanding!!! Thanx for the performance!!!
Straight fire.
They can jam that’s fosho
Hi Bobby. Have fun with your family and friends tonight and today
This is unbelievable. The best !!!
William W!! I’m still mad at Jerry for dying. Billy strings, I can’t even wrap my head around the beauty of him. Like a dead show, there’s going to be generations of fans☮️🎶
So sick!!!
Heavy. Put me in my happy place.
Some of my fav fam right here
Wowwww The Who!!!
Scramble Campbell doing his thing!!

Billy, Billy....omg.
Roll away!!!!! love this!!! NFA!!! the music must never stop. Thanks.
warms my heart that every SINGLE member of the dead are stand alones. that shit does not happen very often
this video is love
Instrumental clarity and a professionalism that the old time rock and roll was just waiting for. Thanks for bringing it to a new level! Super satisfying! Great band. Wow.
Excellent performances you guys. I live here on Oahu and I think the people of Hawaii would absolutely love it if Billy and the Kids did an inter-island tour. Lots of great venues in the islands but you already know that Billy K. Saw you a couple times with Grateful Dead back in the day here in Honolulu. Quite memorable to say the least. Hope we get to see you here on Oahu soon. Make it happen! Show us locals some love and we’ll give it right back to you and then some. Aloha.....H
