This song has a special meaning for me. I was at college in Albany N.Y. I decided to trip for the first time. I was with a bunch of new acquaintances. One guy gets frustrated that no one is listening to him. We were all grooving on the Dead playing.on the stereo. All of a sudden I see him hold out his hand and and his eye is rolling around in his hand. I look up and see his empty eye socket with stuff dripping in the socket. I had no idea he had a glass eye, I thought he pulled his real eye out. I am in full tripping mode, some blotter called "Death On The Nile". I start to freak and shake for about 15 minutes uncontrollably. Then I hear the line "If your confused listen to the music play" This snapped me out of my freak out. I have always loved this song since that bizarre moment. Saw the Dead 50-60 times. Wish they were all still here and rockin out. May the four winds blow you safely home!
@@1wiilover802hater He turned out to be a decent guy. He just had some issues. I might have too if I had a glass eye at his age. However you are correct that it was a fucked up thing to do when someone was tripping his face off.
I listed to dark star orchestra at a festival first full trip and lost it. Layed on the ground staring at the stars. Lost track of time and swear to this day longest scarlet begonias ever played
That's Kyle from slightly...hes also an amazing guitarist...Him and Myles do 50/50..and keep swapping the bass and guitar back and forth in all their live shows
Bobby killed it in that intro solo, usually you never notice how good of a guitarist he is since he's just a rhythm guitarist but i thought he was killer in this
If you thought that Bob Weir was "Just the rhythm guitarist for the Grateful Dead" you weir not listening closely enough to the dead. Jerry did play most of the leads but bob played some of the most memorable ones, and most of the higher energy ones. To me, Jerry had more depth of feeling than just about anyone else ever, but i think bob was the psychedelic master. His approach to the guitar just screamed electric shimmering rainbow fire. He would get so into his vocal parts that i would think that he was gonna have a stroke, and he did, a stroke of genius. I have been listening to Slightly Stoopid the first album and if back then you told me that bob would be playing with them I would have slapped you silly. It just shows that good musicians will find each other.

So much more energy than anything I’ve ever heard dead and co. Perform with their generally slow tempos. The horns and bass/drummer absolutely give this a boost! Also hilarious little scene with Bobby and Angelo of Fishbone just before they start playing.
So my sister called me that night! Such an epic end to a drunken evening of feeling sorrowful on my 45th! So glad I found her on FB! There’s some blessings in social media!

First time I saw these guys was probably in 1999 at a local rock concert at Three Oaks Community Center in Vacaville CA. Ticket was about $3. They weren't supposed to play but they showed and did a few songs. I was the only hippie at a hard rock show. My friend bought their CD and let me borrow it. I've seen them a few more times afterwards in different music festivals.

Karl Denson sitting in
Most Dead covers don't measure up to what the band could do. This was excellent.
OJ Anderson well it’s hard not to jam well with Bobby in the room, I’m sure his aura just sleeps into you as you play and you just let it flow 😍
The horns blew the first time, Bob looked up and said 'Oh yea...this is real'

Bob is so generous with the vibe. In his head- let the music play forever, the music never stops. Like this band, groovin!
Phenomenal ❤️❤️ I know this is 5 years old but Bobby's still got it!!! I stumbled across this today and I am absolutely OBSESSED!!
Words cannot describe how much I love this song and this edition of it
I jam with it on my guitar every day. It is my breakfast!
