"Closer To The Sun" was performed live at Roberto's TRI Studios on September 13, 2011. It was an honor being invited by the Grateful Dead and Furthur's Bob Weir into his state of the art TRI Studios. Built by our friends at Meyer Sound Labs, and utilizing the technology of their new Constellation sound system, Slightly Stoopid had the privilege to invite some of their close friends and family down to "Roberto's" TRI clubhouse for an unprecedented live webcast and in-studio performance.
Our good friend Tommy Chong came down and hosted the event and provided some "Wisdom". Our extended family of musical guests joining us and playing on the session, features Karl Denson, Ivan and Ian Neville of Dumpstaphunk, Don Carlos, and Bob Weir himself!
The result is a 31 song / 2 set acoustic and electric performance including behind the scenes rehearsal footage, and a rare interview segment moderated by Tommy Chong.
Last but not least, a portion of all proceeds will benefit 2 charitable organizations whom the band supports: Save the Children and World Food Programme

This live version is 10 million times better then the recorded studio version and Karl Denson is just absolutely unreal on sax.

Shouting out in 2022!!! First of all this is one of the absolute all time best saxophone solos for real!!!!!! I’ve loved this band for so so many years, I’m so happy to have stumbled upon this. I’m 26 now, born and raised and still living on the jersey shore. Choosing these mellow vibes over the chaos of todays world has kept me sane and still going time and time again. I love y’all. The entire TRI Studio Sessions playlist is just out of this world. I've seen these guys in concert and unlike another favorite band of mine, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid sound fantastic in person. If you're a fan and you haven't seen them live, you should make an effort to. See these youtube comments? The concert is full of people just like this. Really short on idiots and really high *pun* on people there to see an awesome band jam out.

i totally agree. ive seen stoopid like 4 or 5 times now and theve all been some of my favorite shows, especially when tribal seeds opened up for them. Pepper on the other hand sped every song up, left out guitar solos and just sounded like shit. Not to mention pepper were really douchey to the fans, didnt give off great vibes like stoopid did.
