Slightly Stoopid & Friends's 'Live at Roberto's TRI Studios' was performed live on September 13, 2011 and features Karl Denson, Ivan and Ian Neville of Dumpstaphunk, Don Carlos, Furthur's Bob Weir and hosted by Tommy Chong. It was an honor being invited by the Grateful Dead and Furthur's Bob Weir into his state of the art TRI Studios. Built by our friends at Meyer Sound Labs, and utilizing the technology of their new Constellation sound system, Slightly Stoopid had the privilege to invite some of their close friends and family down to "Roberto's" TRI clubhouse for an unprecedented live webcast and in-studio performance.
Our good friend Tommy Chong came down and hosted the event and provided some "Wisdom." Our extended family of musical guests joining us and playing on the session, features Karl Denson, Ivan and Ian Neville of Dumpstaphunk, Don Carlos, and Bob Weir himself! The result is a 31 song / 2 set acoustic and electric performance including behind the scenes rehearsal footage, and a rare interview segment moderated by Tommy Chong.
Last but not least, a portion of all proceeds will benefit 2 charitable organizations whom the band supports: Save the Children and World Food Programme.
Get the live performance in DVD, CD, vinyl, and digital audio direct from the band or through your favorite music dealer: www.slightlyst...
About Slightly Stoopid:
As a musical brotherhood since 1995, Slightly Stoopid, led by the vastly versatile duo of Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, has expanded its fusion of rock, reggae, acoustic soul, hip hop, heavy metal, and punk rock, and achieved artistic freedom and commercial success while subscribing to their own DIY ethos. In the process, the talented collective has grown both onstage - from their original trio to a seven-piece ensemble - and as the generational forebearer of an immensely growing subculture and lifestyle movement.

I'm currently 8months pregnant with my first child, a little girl. We listen to this daily, she must love it because she kicks and moves around the whole 2.5 concert. I can't wait to jam out with her once she's here ❤️
Grats on the kiddo!
This is great! My daughter loves them. And stick. Been jamming since she was in her mommas belly. She eight now. Enjoy when she gets here and able to move around.
Hell yeah! We need more Stoopid Babies!
How rad is that!😃 NOW you get to jam out with her next to you!👍😁👍
My granddaughter was born 3mos. Premature, we were at Disneyland 400miles from home, she spent 98 days in the NICU I would sit and hold and listen to these guys all day long, she's 8.5yrs.old now and loves them &I catch her mumming and singing to herself all the time, she likes all kinds of music, it brings such great joy to me 😊
Never even heard of slightly Stoopid until this RUclips vid... I'm forever a fan. Until the day I die.

These guys are awesome. A perfect example of letting music breath, knowing when not to play. That's a lot of musicians to play together and the sound is kept clean, you can hear every one. Lots of passion and feeling in the playing too. Love it!!

I was going to say what a freaking fabulous performance this was but I see you guys beat me to it.. I'm on fire!
What happen to the second version you can find like 2 clips but not a full set?
Fr Man U can’t U wrong slapping this on and letting it play. Good vibes throughout with some nice guest appearances from the goat himself Don Carlos. This is a legendary moment in the history of this genre fasho 🔥🔥
I am SO glad this popped up in my recommended 4 years later!!

I’m curious to know what kind of person gives this a thumbs down!? Just baffling. I listen to all genres of music and this performance is one of the best I’ve ever seen regardless of what type of music it is. Absolutely amazing musicians!!
Great question there are a lot of people in this world that are lost and incompetent. The same reason Biden got elected we have alot of idiots in this world. Anyone that dislikes this music should be asked to leave.

Let It Grow
I’ve legit watched this in it’s entirety 30+ times and have watched parts of it too many times to count. Been a fan since I was kid and now in my mid 30s. One of my all time favorite bands and still one of the best things I’ve ever seen.
Same :)
anybody watch the whole intro like me?

Stumbled upon these young talented Artists.
Good stuff for sure.
I’ll be 65 years young next week.

I simply cannot comprehend the fact that there's people who gives this dislikes! It's just so tight & toastin' horns that are all together in an energy whirlwind of perfection, giving us some of the sweetest tunes since Sublime! & it was Bradley Nowell who discovered this band while they were still in fuckin' school! But Bradley saw & heard that something truly special & a potential for epic things, so he signed 'em up to Skunk Records then & there, & helped guid them in their own sweet reggae sound, though obviously influenced by the great Sublime, Bob, Gratefull Dead etc, look at what a unique & downright legendary sound they grew into! Some truly inspiring shit with a following bprdering on fanatical in it's loyalty & devotion to them. So even if the music is somehow not ur thing, at least acknowledge the road they've travelled & the peeps they've so deeply inspired & at least give em some love for that! No need hfor hating & dislikes, there's so much more to the process than just a sound. Delve deeper & learn what a positive force they are before judging pls. Peace!
I couldn't agree with you more my friend ! ❤
you're like.. the friend i wish i had XD
no man, its them Aussies, the laptop is upside down so a thumbs down is an up!
Indeed!
First band I ever saw live! Lied to my parents and told them I was visiting colleges :) beautiful music
what they dont know wont hurt them
Should’ve brought mom and pop’s with ya! These guys are so awesome live they’d have loved it no doubt!💯

I am an old school baby boomer rock and roller ( Rush, Stones, Allman Bothers etc..) but consider myself “an any genres music lover”. Knew nothing of Slighty Stoopid till recently when a close friend was convinced that I would “like” them if I only looked into it. Thank goodness he recommended the idea. Great sound by a group that’s just having a riot playing music. Guess this 56 year old BOOMER is still evolving !!!!
Rush is the shiznizz...
I'M 66, Know the Boys, since they began as a punk//thrasher band, hanging out @ The Ocean Beach Skate Park, in the early '90's not far from their Pad. ALL Very Cool guys, give so much back to the Community--Always a Large Local backstage Party happening at most Cali shows!! uncle Don Carlos--The "Apostle" of Reggae. they fondly call me "POPPA" ..old school 4th gen. OB//PL Local. many times, my Concert "Seat" is next to Paul's Keyboards< rolling & handing out ice cold brews, from the big 100 QT. Cooler I sit on
Same kinda boat here. Just stumbled across them one day playing "closer to the sun"... I must have restarted the song about 4 times before we even got to the half way mark. I was just so blown away by how it made me feel. It's like it was pulling from my dad's music days right through into mine. Then many years later I found out that they used to be punk. True art, I tell you, from the heart
So many legends in one place. Unbelievable performance.
Back here again for the 10272640th time 😂 can't get enough of this set.
I have watched this countless times and love it more each time. Love you guys, keep the jam alive!
Slightly stoopid my ass! Slightly genius more like it. To be able to put on a FLAWLESS show for that long a set blows my mind! Fkn great band, great sound, great live! Love it!!!
This is a band that loves their music and their sound. They probably jam for 5 hours just because. 2.5 is probably nothing for them.
They have so many songs that shred live so ya they could probably play for 4 or 5 hours easily

Watched this a hundred times. Never gets old!!
I'm on my semi-annual RUclips new music quest. Had seen this band's name but it sounded 'slightly stupid' so never clicked -- came here b/c of the Franklin's Tower vid. with Bobby Roberto! and the Rolling Stone article about that -- nice nice! I seek out funky, grooving, blended-genre bands like this, and will be back for more. And by the way, it looks like y'all upload whole albums yourselves -- fantastic!

ayyy Bobby and Tommy getting Stoopid. what a fun show. they blew my mind live. I had no idea a group of people could come together and play something so perfectly. actually blew my mind. I was freaking out over how good they were

I know many people named Dick, no lie. I had a Sunday School teacher named Dick back in the 90s's. My brother's middle name is Dick. My great grandma came from a family of Mennonite Dicks who spelt it Dyck or in some countries Dueck. Apparently all Dicks have Mennonite lineage. I am Mennonite by ethnicity, secular by lifestyle. Growing up, my uncle Peter P. Dick wrote on his mailbox "PP Dick" . He was a skilled farmer like my father and most of my relatives whose parents were from Chortitza or Ukraine or Russia whatever the fuck Putin wants to call it lol
Backatcha Dick!! 🎶💕🌞👍

Welcome to the club!

Don Carlos absolute pleasure and joy to listen to, Jah bless
Such a killer band. I remember my buddy talking me into going to a bar one night. We had some drinks, and people started filling up slowly but surely. He said a band is playing tonight. I started to realize they were checking ids at the door later in the night, and the band was warming up and started playing. I didn't even realize it was slightly stoopid. What a special surprise. Later, I pretty much shit my pants after that set in. I saw them for free basically. Because it is thier hometown bar. Then I went back to my apartment in Mission Valley, and I was talking about it to my roommate. He got pissed because he bought expensive tickets to one of their big shows in LA. TY boys! You are legendary and have epic music. This video is the soundtrack to life. I miss living in Southern California. Love this video sounds so crispy and alive.

WOW! I had heard the name of this band, but didn't know what kind of music. What a treat! And if there's horns🎷 you got me at hello.
This has been such a strange year - this just made it so much better.
I keep thinking if they were to roll out some giant speakers and blast some awesome music, maybe people would chill out and take a pause from the rioting and looting. Who doesn't love music? Blessings to all. 🎶😊💕🦋
A new live album from Slightly Stoopid and Friends would be so fire.
TALENT in its rawest form. OB represent. Keep rockin boys! great fucking sesh!
Remember the O.B. sticker with the Seagull, we used to go there with the Y.M.C.A. Surfcamp . That shit was hella chill, they took us to the G. and S. factory got some free Billy Ruff and Neil Blender stickers.

I’ll probably never get tired of this.
These guys have stamina...over two hours straight. I've seen other live videos of these guys in the past. One of the few great white boy reggae bands. It all started with Bradley signing these dudes when they were in high school. He'd be very proud of them today with 10 albums out, tons of DVD's, and they rock it every time.
They take a break halfway and interview with tommy Chong
I saw them live a year before this was filmed. Concert was over 2 and a half hours and the encore ended with a cover of Nirvana's 'Territorial Pissing'. Coming from someone who loves metal shows and has been to countless concerts that show in particular was a standout. Phenomenal energy from these fine gentlemen.

I heard them on Pandora and got a couple songs from itunes. I thought they were just a modern reggae band. I was way off, they are a damn wrecking crew! So much talent in that small space! I needed this.

Closer to the sun is the hardest song I've ever tried to learn on the acoustic guitar. Idk how Kyle plays it so effortlessly.
The sound guy is a stoopid genius. Unreal sound quality. Perfect mixing dude- for real
Kudos to the sound engineer and drummer, love this drum sound. Punchy but not too punchy on the kick and snare and nice beautiful cymbal decay.

Love how into instruments they are. These guys are actually MAKING music. Love their style
Glad to see them show the part of a great show / concert, the audience doesn't get to see - the load-in , the set-up, the levels testing - all the hard work that goes into a performance. The musicians make it sound good - but the "roadies" , the "techs" - make it all work. And possible.
