Anyone who likes this song is a friend of mine.
Whole album rocks. All their material rocks!!
Love ❤️ the who rule great band❤😂
I’m your friend
I love this song and band alot
I would like to join together with the band. Unfortunately, half have died. But i love The Who
I lied to my parents when I was 16, hitchhiked alone 300 miles to the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 - sat in the front row and saw The Who - I've been a convert since then! There is nothing finer.
I was at the age that I wanted to go, I got the look like maybe in your next life. good call, that's a lifetime story.
Man I was born in 1968 but discovered classic rock in HS and college!!
Now that is dedication
that is too cool! however if my 16 yo (daughter or son!) did that I would have freaked!
Elizabeth Jarvis Man; your parents are going to ground you now they know this lol
May the Lord allow this energy to return.
So glad I was alive in this era.
Good time to grow up wasn't it? Other than the wars and bloody revolutions.
I got to listen to DaNang at its peak from a few miles off the coast. "Poor SOBs" was what I was thinking.
This is one of the most beautiful inclusive pop song ever recorded. Period.
@@elizabethflynr7561 I don't think it was considered pop? Was it considered pop music?

Nothing wrong with that I'm from the United States and it was never played on the radio over here on FM radio in the 70s. So I did not know that it was top 40 ha

my first husband, a bassist always said John was a lead bass player and he (my ex) did his best to follow his style. Did pretty well now that II look back. I'm in awe every time i watch him play.
R.I.P. Jeff Roy who used to bang The Who expertly off his drum set right next door in Colts Neck, NJ every weekend morning in the 70's and 80's. It drove my parents insane!!
I nominate Jeff's parents and neighbors for Sainthood. In theory, a drum kit is a musical instrument that has life-long potential but unlike other great educational gift, you can't take the battery out or unplug it when you are on your last nerve and you need to save your sanity. 😮unplug it when you are on your l

Absolutely
Everywhere always!!!
Imagine seeing Roger lead an entire stadium in this song. One of my superb moments with The Who.
This is one of those Who songs I can listen to 100 times straight and not get tired of hearing it.
I just listened to this 100 times with the Loop on.. 😆
Pete's punching his guitar up in the air in the beginning and then the leg kick....PRICELESS!.....can only imagine if I could have been there.
It’s awesome 👏 👏👏👏👍
"It´s the singer not the song , that makes the music move along !"😉
Amen, Always Picks Me Up Too ❤️
As a African American love this song
Once upon a time there were bands like The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Creedence, etc., constantly putting out great music. It's like some long ago dream now.
When 75 you are not as good will you look as when 21 you were. Unless Keith Richards you are.
Listen to Greta Van Fleet. Not saying they are the equal of those bands but they are young, alive and touring. ruclips.net/video/5_lbhbVBT-o/видео.html

Music shop owner: How big of a harmonica do you want?
Pete: Yes
that's just called the chromatic harmonica.. smaller ones are diatonic
best part are all lip sync on the show anyway there's no plugged-in instruments just like those classic days

Chord harmonica, each section plays a full chord, so it can’t be smaller
I think they're harmonicas in all the keys... Joined together!
As someone who came up in the late 1980s and early 1990s...this was our music.....long live the Who..long live Led Zeppelin....the Doors...the Pink Floyd..

One of the greatest bands ever. Timeless music
Never a truer word spoken. GREAT GREAT band.
My favorite band is Rush, but The Who is the greatest rock band ever.
A bit of trivia. When they taped the video for Join Together circa 1973 I went to the studio with a couple of girls and my friend John Maxted.
There was a tap on my shoulder and Roger Daltrey is standing there and says" "Nice Jacket Mate! Can I borrow it."
It was an army fatigue jacket which my mum had sewn a John Bull/Union Jack tea towel on the back panel (It'd burned it trying to put an iron on transfer of in).
Well of course I said.
And here it is. You'll see the Jacket around 3.42 when he turns around. I didn't make the cut though....Still have the jacket. He signed it. My mum washed it. Arrgggh.
Awesome mate, that's a great story to tell down the pub - like I'm sure you have ! lol
brilliant story, next time im fishing on his lake ill remind him.
Simon Harding lmao....yea..ok.you guys are bs' right.!!
Are you serious?
Don't kid around.
Roger's wearing your jacket?
No way.
That's a beautiful jacket!
'This is the biggest band you'll find...'
They must have felt like Gods. I can't even imagine.
One of the most under rated songs by the Who or anyone else come to think of it.
I can play this track 2-3 times a day for the rest of my life. Legendary.
It was released as a single, so it didn’t get a lot of airplay, ironically. It was released on some of there compilation collections 😅
This was never considered underrated by any fan of The Who.

The BEST Rhythm Section of all time!
I concur men...I just love this band...man what a talented foursome..
Ya mean thunderfingers
I recommend checking out Johns isolated bass tracks.
When Pete first comes in with the guitar is one of the most bad ass riffs my ears have ever heard. Raw rock and roll.
Oh yes, I listen waiting for that riff!
HELL YEAH !!
@peter g “it’s called a pentatonic scale” 🤓 it’s dope is what it is 🤣
I don't think Pete Townsend gets the credit he deserves. He is the epitome of what underrated means. Great guitarist and composer that really doesn't get acknowledged for his immeasurable talent. The Who is,was and will always be one of the greatest bands of the British Invasion.
Love
The song starts out fine and well, then John Entwistle kicks in with his bass, fills the void, and it becomes pure WHO magic.
You are correct fine sir.
Roger was as tough as a pitbull if you pissed him off
Great rock group.! One of the best ! Love Pete's dancing.

Summer 1972, I'm 13 and spending a good chunk of it in the house because of issues with asthma. Most if the time spent flipping between the two AM (yeah, I'm that old) powerhouses, WRKO and WMEX. Catching this one from the start was a treat, a great quirky, hooky intro, and of course it's The Who. Maybe my favorite song from that year.
I love their stage presence. It is very tough to look away.

You said it ross!
Your right it was an underrated song in later years.
When this song was released in late summer 72', it was played a lot on L.A' s KMET and KLOS.
Another underrated song by the Who, released in late fall 1972 was "Relay"
agree totally. ..
Another underrated Who song: "I Don't Even Know Myself"
+Jon ya that's my favorite song by the who and it is far underrated. Especially the live recordings of it. They are truly amazing
These hot women are now grandmas 👵 and have fond memories with flowers 🌸 in their hair and free love. No social distancing needed! What a time!!
I bet they're still gorgeous
And they looked like real women!
By God. The Who are true legend.
No band brought high ideals and philosophy to the working masses better than The Who.
Pink Floyd maybe?......
This is actually an anthem. I love Daltrey's attitude and Townshend is always just other-worldly. Such a clever, exhilarating and unifying tune.
When music was alive and people enjoyed life
The atmosphere of life was electric! 🤘
They tease us at the beginning with the impression that the song couldn't get any better, in comes John's bass and Pete's guitar riff and it's unmistakably The Who!
used the same trick in Baba O'Riley 😀
All these beautiful people will be beautiful in eternity
I always thought the Who were the purest rock'n rollers of any of the big bands, Stones always had a foot in the blues, Beatles were experimental, but as for pure raw rock n roll energy, bordering on punk enthusiasm, the Who knew how to rock at it's most primal level.
MerkinMuffly I agree Mr. President.
I kept trying to think of something clever to say. All I came up with is fuck yeah mate.
Them and AC/DC
Very pseudointellectual of you President Merkin.
Totally.
Why doesn't the camera show John Entwistle? The rhythm section of this song is the best ever. God bless Keith Moon and John Entwistle. The best pair ever.
That's funny! I was wishing (as a drummer, and HUGE Keith Moon fan) that they'd show more Keith Moon/ the Drummer, who almost ALWAYs is neglected and falls right behind the bassist in order of "interest", from singer, rhythm, then lead guitarist, bassist, THEN, finally, the drummer, LOL...
See 0:50 - 1:00
@Timothy Burns - How the hell do you figure?!!?
Re-watch the video, especially in the beginning-that is 100% Moon.
And, No, Jones was nowhere near as good as moon. He was just a replacement to allow the group, as it was, to continue on, same as Ringo's kid is doing for Townsend/Daltry now. Talk about not knowing when to retire BTW. You'd think they were both Jews...I mean, they dont really need the money, and their quality is not there, and what was once 4, is now only 2. As bad as the Rolling Friggin' Stones. I guess someone will stuff them up and prop them onstage, while their music plays thru a sound-system, and call it a concert soon.
@Timothy Burns It's Keith Moon, man. How the hell do you think it's Mr jones? Are you legally blind?
@@craigallen5963 i feel ya... drums are like the heartbeat of the songs
Best live rock band! Power and Energy! There is only one way to listen to The Who: "LOUD"
How in the hell could not say this is one of the best bands of all times?😊
I just finished reading Roger Daltrey's book. Fascinating story. Keith Moon was hilarious from the outside but a total nightmare for anyone close to him or trying to work with him. He cost the band a fortune. John Entwistle was very dark and moody and had a mean streak. Pete Townshend was a volatile creative genius and he knew it. Roger had the toughest working class background working in a factory and was fighting to escape from it. He had the strongest work ethic and avoided the drugs. Unlike most bands, with the Who it was the lead singer and front man who man both feet most firmly planted on the ground. Roger was the anchor that kept the ship steady all those years.
Maybe , but Pete Townnsend cartainly was an inspired msucian who kept the WHO running even after Daughtry left . I never saw "the who". the one time I could have(the Its Hard tour 1982), I traded for a two week party and about 14 grams of nearly pure cocaine , which corrupted about 50 people and was a ton of fun . Did I make the right decision ? I still don't know. But missing the Who , remains as the only Wood Stock band, I ever missed. Never miss a band who was at Wood Stock, I learned that well , over the years. And If I get the bucks, I do want to see them "Live at Leeds" as they promised after this covid-flu bull is over with.
@@chrisperrien7055 Daltrey didn't exactly quit the band, he took a break in 1980 to do McVicar (and all the other band members were involved in his solo album of the soundtrack.) It was actually Townshend who wanted to stop touring in 1982 and become a studio group, and a year later he quit the band and the Who ended, except for periodic reunions, until they reformed in 1996.
Daltrey's hair is the fifth member of The Who.
+Bill graydon Sense of humor maybe? It's a nice thing.
He and Robert Plant are tied for 1st place.

Me too !
"Do you really think I care?" Absolutely one of their best songs! John playing lead on bass!!!!! Amazing.
Rock history at it's finest, Great song, Great group.
Correction I did see about 9 seconds of John as he is the second half of the harp. It looks like the London Who fan club was invited to take part in the video. God bless the 1970s groupies. I think Pete Townsend is beyond a great guitar player. His synth work is second to none. What can be said about The Who leaves me speechless. They are the best of that time period.
🎉 If it's March 1st, it must be both Rogers and my Birthday!!
Happy Birthday, Darlin'!!
There's just no way to not like this song!
+Steven Dusza The chorus is very tiring, and that's basically the whole song.
+Nothing Really It's all in PRESENTATION, and they damn well presented it!
it's very unique and very innovative without being dull imo and those mini guitar solos Pete erupts into are spectacular!
Sorry to say, I have witnessed some hyper religious nuts state that this type of music is of the Devil. I suppose that if the crowd really enjoys a performance, some demonic force must be propelling it!

People forget how powerful a singer Daltrey was. Fantastic voice with a superb range.
To me he sucked during the early years. It wasn't til around Tommy and then after that he became a powerful singer. All time fav group! Rock ON!
Saw them two years ago and, at 70, Daltrey still has the voice. And Pete was still rocking. My 13th time to see them live and my husband's first. Long Live Rock!
not was still is
i haven't forgotten! he has a great voice and really as a RnR singer, raw! range but no vibrato, same as Robert Plant
In my opinion in the top 5 along with Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury
Townsend's songwriting maximized the talents of all four members of this incredible band.
He brought the best out of everyone.
The who the doors and jimi make me feel nostalgic about an era I wasnt even alive for. The late 60s and early 70s was the best time for music in my opinion.
Pete writes them, John's bass, Moon's drumming and Roger's vocals gives the power, then Pete's vocals give it the sublime. The Who have an awesome ability to mix the elements of sound and deliver a perfect concoction like an alchemist in a lab. Can't say enough cool things about this band.
This song used to get a lot of radio play . Back in the day when people were real and genuine.

Love how this song combines the standard rock group lineup with "primitive" instruments (harmonica and jaw harp) as well as the synthesizer. Perfect blend of past, present, and future.

When I was a little kid in the 70s, this was my favorite song by them, for some reason. Maybe because it reminded me a bit of Three Dog Night and bullfrogs named Jeremiah. (Give me a break, I was 4 in 1972)
