This arc was Ichigo's ultimate character study. His depression following the loss of his powers, the hope of getting them back and then regaining them and the will to fight for his friends after being brutally put down. I liked the showcase of Soul Society's shady side to, it becomes jarring when you realize Tokinada and his control freak sociopathy are responsible for Ginjo's rebellion following the murders of his old friends. Still I'm glad most of the Fullbringers survived and are now doing good in the world.

  • @reaperofthings

Something a lot of people forget about Bleach is that Ichigo was 16 years old and fighting a war. A war where he died twice against an opponent so much stronger than him he couldn’t even scratch him. Where he had been tortured for weeks by his “Inner Hollow” with nightmares and the fear of being possessed, made even worse by his Hollow’s rampage upon his second death and the near killing of Uryu before Ulquiorra stopped him. Ichigo later watches some of the strongest people he knows are cut down after being mind fucked into attacking one of their own, has Aizen and Isshin deliver world shattering revelations upon him and the entire time he was terrified. Gin said it himself. Ichigo was scared of Aizen. Aizen had already nearly bisected him, then he tells Ichigo that he was one of Aizen’s experiments? That every fight he was in was engineered by Aizen? That Aizen knew Ichigo inside and out? Naturally he’s scared, anyone would be. But then Ichigo spends three months alone with a furious and upset manifestation of his soul, trying desperately to gain the power to end Aizen once and for all, to save everyone he cares about and he learns that if he does gain that power, he will lose everything in exchange. He would lose Zangetsu, his partner who has been like a rock for him, telling Ichigo what he’s needed to hear when he needed it most. He would lose his powers, leaving him unable to defend his family from the monsters he knows are lurking in the shadows. He would lose many of his friends, because either he wouldn’t be able to see them since they’re spirits or they’d be too busy to drop by. He’d lose his sense of purpose. And Ichigo sacrificed all of that to stop Aizen, only for Aizen’s immortality to make it useless. Kisuke sealed him away sure, but that definitely wouldn’t have helped Ichigo’s mental state. Ichigo went through war at 16. Him having issues, him crying is natural. The Fullbring arc showed us the aftermath of the Winter War and it’s effects on Ichigo. And that’s why I liked it personally.

This was a necessary arc for Ichigo and Bleach as a whole. Its like a nice down to earth, ground level break between the otherworldly stakes of the grand scheme of Bleach. I always understood the part of why Ichigo cried, I always understood that he had finally gotten everything he loved back just to have it taken away. I understood that he had been so strong for so long that he needed a moment of weakness. I also understood what he is, I too am someone of that type myself. He goes through so much that it would crush most people, but not him. He has a nearly unparalleled mental fortitude, and he can even work through his problems and anything that comes his way. It is difficult when you are misunderstood all your life, and you understand everyone else around you. I know why he never hates his opponents, he sees them, their inner selves, their core being. He sees their depth and understands where they are coming from, he can put himself in their shoes in his head. He can see from every perspective that exists. He sees everything and everyone from his own depths, not from the surface as most people do. He and I are very much alike, that is why I always liked that character.

Truth. It encapsulates the the very grey moral zone of the series. There are Shinigami who do what is right and save lives, just as those in Squad 2 end them silently to keep the aristocracy's secrets hidden but even they go battle Hollows and will theoretically save human lives too.

@@bakatemplargaming2430 I’d argue out of the three, you’d still see some semblance of nuance. Äs being a symbol of fear but in reality is afraid of his sickness and death, Yhwach’s motivation to usurp the soul king is somewhat justified, and with CFYOW some shinigami realize what Aizen actually wants this whole time and sympathize with him. I guess side characters will always have less objectives but that’s just because they function as a stepping stone for main characters.

Dude you're going to make me cry I swear! No one explains the beauty and the greatness of Ichigo as a main character like you do. I love it so much 🥲
You know, after all these years, I think I understand why some people don't like this arc. I'm not counting the hypocrites and the morons who refuse to see beyond their nose. No, there's no educating them and I won't ever try to. But I think Ichigo's struggle hits too close to home. When we watch or read fiction, we do it to escape our current reality. We project ourselves onto these heroes. We want them to be strong and defeat all obstacles, unlike ourselves who are weak and powerless. We like it when Ichigo manages to come back from adversity because we wish that was us. But in this arc, Kubo reminds us that Ichigo is human, too, and that he's vulnerable to the same flaws and struggle we do. I remember feeling a sense of unease and discomfort throughout the arc, culminating in that scene of Ichigo crying in the rain. I can't even begin to describe how bad it made me feel. It hurts even to this day. It was intentional. I don't fault anyone for not wanting to see it. We, as humans, have the reflex to look the other way when we see someone's suffering because it reflects our own. But you know what? There's an inner strength within us that allows us to overcome challenges, no matter how big they are. The payoff was so good. Ichigo showed us all that you can come back from anything. I absolutely love every single line he says in this arc. He proved that he was smart and open minded. He stuck to the values his mother taught, compassion and understanding. Also, it's interesting that he basically repeated what he told Rukia on Masaki's grave, what his father told him. I see this as him renewing his vow to his mother. This is so poetic!!! Ichigo is just the best!!!

From what Kubo displayed I believe everything having a soul is Reishi. In the soul society reishi is far denser. Even Yammy concluded to this stating it's harder to breath a bit. Like low oxygen. With this in mind we know the racial bonuses of bleach. Shinigami had the greatest versatility of reishi. Quincy has the greatest efficiency and usage. Whilst Hollows physical being improved the more Reishi.
So when Hollows attack their Spiritual pressure destabilizes their prey. Once this is done they can consume their Reishi. Humans that survive a hollow attack their bodies or internal reishi is destabilized. At this moment ones desires, intent and goals can manifest. Chad desired to use his strength. A simple desire that resulted in a simple, but destructive result. Orihime rejected what was happening. She couldn't accept her friend dying. She couldn't accept another hollow attacking her. She couldn't accept that she is helpless. This caused her to recede into herself and reject the world. Ulquiorra saw this rejection of life, but a false serenity. It was a confusing moment. Each Espada has an aspect of death. I believe their power comes from how they inflict their aspect on another.
Ichigo clad type reveals his power and reishi are close to him. Rather it is him. Ichigo powers define him at first he hated this. Then appreciated when he saw what it meant for others. Yet with the select knowledge given. Ichigo rejects aspects of himself. Believing all hollows are bad so hollowification is bad. Yet hollows just want to survive. Their desires gives them a second chance

This arc was one of my favorites. I honestly know what it is like to truly lose an integral part of yourself. It is a empty experience to lose a gift that you took for granted by having responsibility thrust upon you. It may feel like a normal life is what you want, but with the knowledge of the truth but the inability to affect it, you are still far from living a “normal” life. It is the ignorance of the unordinary, that makes life ordinary. To lose the talent to change something all while still knowing the truth, it is excruciating.

I think it's how they view ichigo personally. Naruto stated to hinata that he is always alone but he never cries about it. Naruto is the kind of person who will fight with a smile on his face from time to time, he has cried before and it feels reasonable, the show is built on a lot of feelings like loss and friendship and changing as a person. I think their mistake is they see ichigo as someone who is never supposed to cry, it's like if sasuke started crying a lot, that would feel wrong, it's a misrepresentation of sasuke's character. I think the misunderstanding of ichigo comes from the fact that Ichigo doesn't usually try to empathize with his villains, talk no jutsu them, which makes people think he is always a badass and shouldn't cry a lot when in fact he knows it would be a waste of time to talk no jutsu Aizen or a hollow. Ichigo seems like sasuke on the surface, a serious expression when in battle.

Good video man. I watched this week to week and had no idea people said Ichigo was a crybaby and had mood swings.
Bleach was and is still one of the most relatable animes. The emotions flowed with the story. The picture was always clear. The only thing I was upset about in the fulbring arc was that this fight with a season bad, was better then the fight with the big bad.
It felt like Ichigo earned gaining his powers back and his darkest hour, was the moment he shined brighter then ever. That he fights with purpose and knows what it is. He is at his peak warrior status because he knows who he is and what he fights for.
The exact opposite of his aizen fight. It felt short and unearned when Ichigo was already winning and gave up his powers for no reason other than to show off.
Nothing about the fight or how it concluded was satisfying.
I was so mad with that ending I made my own head cannon and I think it holds true to the story.
It starts when Ichigo came in looking older, more bad ass and ready to throw down with a look of pity on his eyes. Ichigo Drago's Aizen outside the city so no one would get hurt.
That fight should be a back and forth as Aizen plays with Ichigo Frieza style. Always happy to push Ichigo to his limits before ending his life. Always out to make him look like the smartest in the room and Ichigo was just his pawn.
Ichigo should of spent every resource he had. Been on the break of defeat and with a flashback of what his friends and family, the first ghost he ever met and the fight of the school bullies from the first episode.
he stands up and activates, "final gitsua" as one final flashback happens. It takes you back to the exact moment Rukia stabs Ichigo and gives him this power.
Then he uses final gitsuga and kills Aizen and sacrificing his power to protect everyone.
That's the fight in my head, that's how I choose to remember bleach. I don't like their ending to Aizen arc. So I made my own.
I've tried to think of a way to include hollow Ichigo and that whole transformation but it was wrapped up nicely when Ichigo was stabbed by the hollow/zangetsu mix character.
there was no more need for the mask, or for the hollow to come out one last time.

I mean ichigo already had a lot on his Platte the only thing after that was the support of his friends and family which near the climax of the arc all thought he was crazy even standing against him because their memories had been manipulated by the enemy I want to see one person still standing strong after all this and ichigo breaking down in agony and tears made him so much more human and relatable in my eyes

That was just beautiful my guy 😢 Just beautiful and poetic. The Full bringer arc brings Ichigo to his lowest level, powerlessness, uselessness, despair. Something he probably hasn't felt since the day his mother died. When he got his powers back he had every right to charge at Ginjo With anger and hatred for what he put him, his friends, and family through. Yet instead he didn't, That takes a strong person. A cow from a movie Call Back at the Barnyard Once said that a strong man stands up for himself, but a stronger man stands up for others. No one lives up to this more than Ichigo😊
I wonder exactly what you'll do for the final arc. To me it represents him coming to terms with who he is it is not just as a human but as a Soul Reaper, a Hollow and Quincy hybrid. True balance

As far as the music in the video goes, I have this nasty habit of finding songs while I work, screen recording the song, and saving it to my PC with a new name like “GVSX” or “dhdjd” because I can’t be bothered.😂 Imma try to backtrack to find some of the songs for you but for now.. here are the ones I know for sure:
    1. Magi- Cast to Damnation
    2. Atom Music- Your destiny
    3. Jak X Combat Racing: To The Death
    4. Within Temptation: In Vain Instrumental
Gotta take a rain check for the rest.

10:10 Okay, here is where this come from, not how it works, because i can make myself an idea, but it's more of a theory. The belief that everything has a souls it's, to my knowledge, a Japanese one, if i remember correctly when i researched this, this is related to Shinto beliefs. There everything has a souls, including inanimated objects, and when their life cycle ends their soul goes through the process of rebirth. If you want you can see a bit on youtube, there are some video about Japanese people doing something similar to the burial ritual to their old Dog toys, you know those dog toys that your parent both to you when they couldn't get one for multiple reason, those ones. When their bateries died, instead of replacing then and seeing then as just something reusable, they saw it as the death of that object, and perform burial ritual for it.
So in the case of inanitmated objects, when their utility life from the factory ends, the object is coinsider dead. That's the only thing i can confirm regarding how this works, because it's how it works in real life certain Japanese people take it, but how it works the manipulation of the soul, it's just pure theory.

Ichigo’s character development is outstanding through this arc my only problem with it was that when when watching it the training arc was slow and when it was revealed the soul society’s intentions I was kinda indifferent. Like from a government standpoint it makes sense to keep tabs on him and have to make the necessary decision to kill him if needed but at the same time this is a group of 1000+ year old people who are lying and betraying an 18 year old who literally saved ALL of their lives. Also the fact they brought up Isshin’s character and then never did nothing more with it let alone let him actually fight and they did uryu really dirty as he was really just getting beat on. But from a main character stance the writing was 10/10

9:28 the idea of "even inanimate objects having a soul/spirit" is actually a concept in Shinto philosophy (if I recall correctly). One of my favorite little tidbits about this concept is that blacksmiths used to perform their duties in the robes of a priest, and their task wasn't to just create a weapon, but to "draw out the spirit of the weapon" (almost like it was the idea behind the Zanpakutō). Even now, traditional bloomery forges is Japan are treated almost like a religious site, with robe-clad smiths refining pretty and forging the steel into blades.

I never understood why people hated this arc for absolutely no reason, I personally enjoyed it so much.
Ichigo was always a person to hate on when compared to other Shonen protagonist especially naruto, although I love Naruto, to be honest I prefer Ichigo any day of the week.
Kobo writing was sempolic and original, and dare I say, it was ahead of its time.
But naruto story base telling (again, in my opinion) was bad after the Pain Arc, you don't have to ask why because 2/3 of the Naruto shebuden or what ever it called was the war arc, and to be honest it was not that good of a war arc really and Kaguya was even trasher than sakura and this says alot.
The only let down was of bleach was, that it had to be rushed to meet a deadline, so it wasn't flushe out as it should have been

      >His dad could've just told him that things were going fine and that they were finding a way to get his powers back
      >They could've seen Ichigo's choice before the fight and before he had to go through despair. I don't get why they have to pressure him so much that he teams up with Kugo just to see his reaction. It's like telling someone TRUST ME YOU'LL BE FINE but then let them get ruined by others only in the end saving them when their trust has been broken. I get the message but the delivery is kinda whack.
      >The stakes are gone in a snap since he just got his power back anyway with a plot device. I don't care if it makes sense. These overly convenient plot threads don't make it better. They're just that, overly convenient plot threads.
      >Little to no further context about Ginjo and Tsukishima and why it lead to that point. Making most people not gain any sympathy for Kugo because his personality was all over the place making us not subscribe to one form of his.
      >The Fullbring power system was kind of pulled out of nothing, we know Chad and Orihime are Fullbringers now but the reason they had powers initially was because of the Hogyoku. Now it's retconned as Fullbring. Its definitely a glaring and off putting sore.
That said I still agree that it doesn't deserve the hate it gets. People say these problems then isolate Bleach for having them when the same thing problems and/or many others are found in both Naruto and One Piece yet no one or at least not as much bats an eye. It is so hypocritical.

The Hollow connection of Fullbringers were because THEY WERE ATTACKED BY HOLLOWS WHILE IN THE WOMB but then again that's not the case with some of them at all.

He didn't say hollow-like iirc and even if it was that's enough of an implication to say where his powers came from. Especially with the added fact he said Huceo amped his reiatsu (or made it excited/jumpy)
Why would something from Ichigo or the Hogyoku which if it's based off of the user's own wish (Chad in this case) be something hollow-like? How, why and when would Chad ever want hollow-like powers. He's not Tosen. You talking about "contradicting" but don't even check for it on your end.

There is a thing i would like to talk about the Fullbring powers. i think it makes much more sence if you put it in perspective. The "soul" an object has is the series way to say that every objec can store spiritual energy. There is this belief in spirituality about that. every object can store positive or negative energy. for an extreme example, houses where there was a lot of negative things happening, will have a lot of negative pressure on it and as a result, it might get haunted by negative spirits or if the energy is too dense, poeple will call it haunted even if there is no ghost in it, the same goes for positive things. The fullbring is a direct reference to the acumulation of positive energy in your most precious posetion. if you have a ring that reminds you of a close one and you always take care of it, the object absorbs the positive energy that the memory and emotions generate. Mediums tend to ask for this kind of objects to get in contact with an spirit because they can be filled with one's energy weather you believe in it or not, it's obvious that from this perspective, it's easier to understand the Fullbring, just take it to the extreme and every object has a spiritual energy that it stores.

Kind of an aside, but I think they all had some certainty on how Ichigo would jump on the choice he'd be offered by Ginjo. They were on standby just in case, yeah, but they showed up smiling because this is the kid who fought their demigod asses to a standstill to save one person he'd only known for six months, and beat some sense into her big brother on the way. The kid who'd made an ally of a Quincy and given shelter to a mod soul, who didn't need to learn a single damn one of their laws to get the spirit of them in one go. They were scared, sure, because he's a damn juggernaut in raw power terms, and they were on standby. But none of them really expected him to falter, and having Rukia and Renji onhand to talk to him proves that they're a lot different from the Gotei 13 we first met, or the ones that exterminated the Quincy. Love your analyses, btw.

Due to my heroin addict and depression, breaking every bond I had. One by one they stopped talking to me, I was then Alone, strung out, no one around me. I was lost, I was down and I out. On the night of Prom, I took xanax to be clam. I ended up smoking a cig in the bus bathroom.(yes it was dumb)
I had a date, but I neglected it. I could take my prom picture, and I was Alone all night, and worst of all
I HAD NO MUSIC. Not ipod wasn't there. As a musician MUSIC MUST be with me. But that night I heard laughter, chatter and watching these people (some friends some not) create a lasting memory. The way ichigo felt being hopeless, and confused and angry. Is what I felt and others did as well. After prom we went to NYC. They did some shit, I walked and have money to people, gave food to them. I had nothing, I was abused sexually, I was a heroin addict at prom with NO music. I feel great when I help other. That's why insted of fucking around. I gave the world my heart.
Next day I had a complete meltdown, at my job at Mickey's D awhile cleaning I had 10000000 things in my head. I lost hope, called my mom to tell her, I need to leave I will breakdown. The point is when I was balling my eyes and repeated "I can't do it why am I this way" over over and over. I calmed down a hour later, I had my parents save me
Ichigo IS THE GREATEST protagonist. While I watch this I I can't help but want to hug him. Hehe

And i remember *LOVING IT,* and not being in forums, or looking at youtubers reviews, at the point of the training with Ginjou when his fullbring training is complete, i begun looking for forums and reviews and i was confuse by what i readed there, my reaction was "What the heck are you talking about?", i never understood those people, i was just confuse. By the point we reach, Ichigo breaking down, i was disgusted by their opinions, i just couldn't understand then, they can have then, but to me it sounded like a bunch of ignorant people. I was sad for Ichigo, because i understood his powerlessness at not being able to do anything, being show the chances to be able to do something, such for someone to take it away. It's horrible, it was sad, it's why when Rukia appear behind him and gave him his powers back, i just smile, it was awesome, it was so cool, it was perfect.

From what it sounds like when listening to the video you seem to be unaware that at some point after the Manga ended in one of the after stories Kubo wrote he expanded on the Ginjo situation apparently Soul Society did straight up betray Ginjo though from my understanding the actual Squads and Captain's were unaware of this... Apparently one of the major houses wanted something that Ginjo and his then friends had and ambushed them and the friends were killed.

I kept up with the Bleach manga for a long time. Seeing this arc first in the manga I liked it at first and overall. The characters had cool designs and powers and it was a unique moment in Ichigos life focused only on him for a good amount of the story. Some things were done better in the manga like how Ichigo cut off Tsukishima's arm.

I dont mind the fullbring arc to be underrated. I love every single arc of bleach. Probably cause it was my first anime i watched. It holds a special place in my heart

This is the first video of yours that I've watched and I've loved it. For me I overall enjoyed the fullbringer arc the only part that felt sour to me was more to do with Tsukoshima's power set than anything else in the arc. I I hate anyone with those kind of mind control powers who manipulate people that much. In other words he did his job as a villain too well. I can of course easily get past my frustration with that character archetype to see just how good and important it was to Ichigo's character development. Now to go back and watch the rest of your videos in this series.

I really love this arc, and I love Ichigo bc he's the only anime mc that is a real human, he can cry, he can laugh, and more, as a real human would. And I love this arc because we see how Ichigo deeply loved being a soul reaper and how he felt anxiety and fear that he won't do something. Maybe this is not a underrated arc, maybe is the best arc for Ichigo and Bleach

In high school I remember me and my friends were hanging out. They talked about someone who cried. And such. I remember saying "crying is not weakness. " sometimes you need to cry.

Oh the soul concept is probably based on yokai since if an item becomes 100 it gains sentience and it will be good or evil depending on how well it was taken care off.

Not the combo of describing Ichigo like Batman into the Steve Harvey "nani!?" meme!! HOL' UP, the universe wasn't ready for that one!! (Probably still ain't, it sure caught me off guard!!) 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣
