Thanks for the clarification on the cooler. I’m aware of several items that come to mind when the cab is removed for any repairs. High pressure fuel pump, turbo up pipes, egr cooler, head gasket, head bolt changeover to studs, factory radiator changeover to all aluminum, add external oil cooler, delete DPF, replace oem exhaust with bigger diameter pipe and add a power chip to increase torque and fuel mileage. I’m in California now, but I have a new address in AZ just north of Kingman about 35 miles. I’m in the market shopping for the complete package on my 2008 6.4 diesel. I’m having an issue with the oil cooler when pulling my 40’ fifth wheel.
Hey bro I subscribed your videos are straight to the point!how do I diagnose my injectors on which one is going bad?truck runs shitty untill completely warm and then still runs sluggish I’m shooting towards a leaking injector seal but idk.NOTE: there seems to be diesel in dip stick looks a little high
Any diesel shop around Abilene, TX that y’all would recommend to look at my 2009 F350 Diesel which is having issues w/ oil cooler? Thx and wish I lived closer to your place in Houston.
am I correct in you mentioning torque on the gaskets being correct or it will cause the new cooler to go bad again. I’m replacing mine at the moment but when I went to screw the oil cooler down it would shift once I got a few screws in. That doesn’t seem right. I finally got them all locked down and just didn’t over screw the last bolt. I haven’t finished the job so would it be fair to say I need to get the torque to spec before moving on? Also, do these gaskets need any lubricant?
How do you prevent the rust in the first place? I've changed my coolant 4 times and I only have 70K miles on my 2010 6.4. The first time I hired someone but I did not like the job they did so I did it again myself, the third time was because I asked my local dealer to change the oil cooler fluid because the owners manual said to do it and I thought it was a separate system than the engine coolant. The 4th times was because I had a non-dealer change my lower radiator hose and they replaced the coolant with the wrong type and did not flush it so it was a mix of incompatible fluid so I made them change it again. So I guess that makes 5 times.
Would high eot to ect be caused by a bad oil cooler bypass valve even after the oil cooler was replaced? I’m getting a 30-60 deg swing between the ect and eot no CEL truck runs fine. I did have the truck tested with a high end scanner the voltage to the coolant temp vs oil temp was way off on the oil temp side. Both temp readings were very close to the same but the voltage was higher on the oil temp. I’m trying to figure out if the oil temp gauge is bad along with the bypass valve.
First oil cooler in my 6.4 was replaced at 70k, flushed like crazy added bypass filtration, now at 150k I'm back up to 40+ deltas without even towing. I'm considering just doing the BulletProofDiesel half-kit cooler, you make it sound like I have other parts I should be concerned about, what are they? The radiator??
Benny I’m having oil temps trouble I have a 2002 ford f250 7.3 I have a 9 for truck camper @2000 lbs when I’m in 90 to 100 deg. And climbing a7 percent grade oil temp goes up to 290 deg then I pool over to let cool down what would you recommend truck has only 120,000 on it thanks
I would recommend checking your coolant temperature as well. Typically when the cooling system starts running hotter than normal it can affect oil temps. 7.3 Powerstrokes normally don't have oil cooler failures.
bro I have a07 f350 6.0 egr cooler leaking just over night but I’d like to replace it and oil cooler but can I do flush out with additives for better flush I’m wondering if I can do that with my egr leaking
Isai Ladino if you have an egr cooler leaking I would not recommend flushing . Go ahead and repair, then you can flush afterwards using Vc-9 iron cleaner from motorcraft.
STPDIESEL Houston Diesel Specialist should I just flushing it with water and air, heater core, block and radiator and put the new egr cooler oil cooler after that can I do the flushing with vc-9 ? I just want to do it right like you said thanks 👍
The passages inside the 6.0 oil cooler are triangle shaped aren't they? You would think they would be a round tube design for better flow. My 05 6.0 goes in for a flush and new oil cooler next week. I was going to have the head stud job done but can't afford it right now. I have a 20 degree difference between the oil and coolant temp on the interstate.
466htrd nice bud! Just be sure it gets flushed out properly after oil cooler replacement... look into a coolant filter kit also to help protect the oil cooler!
Nice video bro, thank you. And besides monitoring your oil temps, what other way could you keep a close eye on your oil cooler? Do you just wait until it fails?
Does a plugged oil cooler cause coolant to come out the degas bottle truck is already studded and deleted Only notice coolant comes out when I’m stepping on it
Gracias por la information. Una pregunta beni Tengo una1990 Ford f 350 7.3 Le repare las cabezas hase un ano . Pero ya me esta pasando cooler a el aceite de el motor. Cres que sea las cabezas otravez ?... Gracias amigo 😁
🤔😅This also applies to 7.3 f450 diesel? I been getting oil in the cooler tank. We took it to the shop but it kept getting gunk oil in the cooler tank and they just told us to keep changing the water until it gets better? Could i please get a suggestion on how or what to use to be able to get it fixed the right way? Thank you.🙏🙏🙏 It would really help me 🙏🙏
Hi Benito, quick question I just bought a Ford F-250 diésel power stroke super duty v8 the cooler seem mixed with oil There is presión coming out when I removed the cap..
Edgar Reyes if you have oil in your coolant , that’s typically caused by oil cooler. Coolant mixed in oil typically is due to front cover failure. But best thing is to get it diagnosed properly
Good info. I recently found a blown IPR screen. Replaced and found pieces of it. Now that I'm using scangauge I'm seeing a 40 degree difference between oil and water temps !!!! Is it possible that my oil cooler is clogged with debris? Or even failed because I've noticed a bit of oil in my coolant 😥 ??
Dammit, would you recommend a back flush then check Delta's. Then replace oil cooler?? Or just replace the damn thing!?? I'm unsure because I saw a bit of oil in the coolant reservoir.
I would recommend inspecting coolant system and yes depending on how high the oil temperature is getting it may be time to replace and perform a coolant flush
Im getting a bigger delta then i like 200 ect 226 eot, would you recommend back flushing the system and replacing the oil cooler and just do a back flush and see if that helps? Also i have a coolant leak have not found where it’s coming from yet but could that have anything to do with the oil cooler not functioning properly? Gracias
Sebastian Cortes has would recommend inspecting the coolant system to see if you can find evidence of what’s clogging your cooler... look inside the coolant tank and radiator hoses. Then depending on what you find you can see the extent of the damage. Possibly an oil cooler replacement and a nice coolant flush ...
STPDIESEL Houston Diesel Specialist Truck has gad the coolant tank replaced, so I will look into the radiator hoses, I was told it had a “new” oil cooler but i dont know for sure, so i will look into what you suggested. Thanks, I really appreciate the reply
Yeah buddy we're not cheap. There's plenty of other shops out there that try to do what we do for pennies. Not only that but if you learned anything from the video is that oil coolers fail for many different reasons so with that being said no oil cooler repair is the same. We get calls all day with customers having oil coolers replaced from other places and problems still continues months later. Good luck buddy! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Hey Benny, do flywheels for a 6.0 need to be re-balanced when moving them to a new engine? Or is that not necessary?
Jesus Castro no bud that’s really not necessary unless you notice some abnormal wear
STPDIESEL Houston Diesel Specialist Thank you!
i changed my oil cooler and my truck still says reduced engine power and code still shows up
What about oil in the coolant antifreeze
