I'm an icu nurse that started nursing during the pandemic. This last year has been so physically, mentally, and emotionally draining, and I didnt want to quit for my patients and because I believed I could push through the hardship. But everytime I step into the icu, I see their suffering, and it affects me so deeply. I'm starting to realize that it's ok to leave the icu to pursue something kinder on my soul. Great message. It reminds me of a similar thought an older lady shared with me a long time ago. She said "We all want to 'win'. But what's the worst that can happen if you come last? Why is that so awful?". As a smart woman with a professional career, I struggled with that. But as I have gotten older, I have adjusted my balance from succumbing to the rat race, to taking a slower approach that protects my mental health.

I don’t think there’s any shame in giving up on something or someone that is likely never going to work out. Why prolong a situation that is toxic or negative just for the sake of saying you won’t give up? I think the older you get you also realize how precious time is and how quickly it passes and you don’t want to waste it. I have found this so true with relationships, ie. friends and family. Sometimes we have toxic people in our lives that aren’t going to change and it’s just healthier for us to realize this and move on. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and letting your viewers realize that this isn’t seen as a failure.😊💖🙏

One thing I learned through being lonely, rejected by men and having no friends, losing so many people I thought were friends and losing so many people even from my past even old classmates, even losing people in my family as support in my forties due to smear campaigns and attacks of jealousy and competition towards me is that it’s only up to me to make my life happen for me. I can never rely on other people to make me happy or make my dreams happen. I can’t even rely on a man to stick by me. I never even made it to marriage and I’m 47. I also learned when i do great things with my talents, people get jealous and stop supporting me. It’s then when I rely on myself for making my own happiness. Also, it’s not a failure if I take a break from a path and learn a new path. I can always go back to my previous path when I feel like it. If you can make your dreams come true without the support of anyone, even when people around you try to take them away and ruin your reputation, it makes enjoying your success so much sweeter. Expect the unexpected. Thank you for this video.

I am in a place where, due to many issues, my life has entirely collapsed. So I needed to hear this today. It was already something in the back of my mind, that all this destruction in my life needs to mean something. And I have been seeing things in a different light, even those heavy things that I lost that I used to identify with so strongly that they indeed became me. I am in a new territory, somewhere I have never been. And as much as it still pains me, I also see potential for a new healthier path. I don't see it in a way that I never return to the things that I felt I was good at and pursue those dreams, but it's definitely a time for a full stop, re-evaluation and then, when I am ready, move forward in a way that feels good to me. Trying to make something happen, ever since childhood, and tying my own value to it... it was the wrong way. I was a child, I didn't know better. And I continued as an adult, I didn't know what else to do. It took this gigantic tremor in my life, that brought all of it down, for me to look at it all and go: "ok, that's ok, it was hard for a long time, i was suffering... perhaps now I can figure out a way to live and express myself without unnecessary suffering." Perhaps now I can love myself for me, not just for the things I have achieved or the things I can do.

This video brought tears to my eyes. Thank you malama. I saw the right video at the right time. I got my first job as a fresher out of college in a big company with good salary but something unfortunate happened. I was given work different from my job role. I don't have the required skills nor do I have interest in that. I requested them to change my vertical and assign me to the one which aligns with my job role and interest but I was denied. I am planning to quit this job within sometime. I was feeling like a quitter & loser for quitting my first job so soon. But your words assured me that I am only opening doors for something new and better to come in .

I'm 55, lived an entire life of being alligned, abiding to what others wanted, of denial. I left my job as of january this year. I felt inadeguate, not stimulated, not alligned and not willing to say yes when I felt like saying a healthy no. So, I said no for the first time. I don't know where I go from here but I feel good because I GAVE UP and left my so called comfort zone. If giving up is regarded as a societal stigma well I DON 'T CARE :)
Nice video, it cought my interest, you have a comforting voice

Its not giving up but rather parking that idea and opening another door. Your future often is the result of combined nonlinear moments which we call random experiences. Unplanned adjustments define our strength to adapt. True confidence comes from our imagination and creativity.

I have learnt that I do it for myself not for others. All my life I’ve always thought “do it for other so you can show them you can do it” but in reality i learnt that I had to do it for myself for my future and my legacy not others. I have noticed that my past jobs I always quit it never last a year because I would find out that it’s not for me, the unfairness of pay, the uncertainty of employees it stressed me out even if pay was good I wouldn’t deal with the negative atmosphere and people. With each job, with every person I met I realize as I grow older that it’s ok to let go of those who hurt you and those who don’t belong in your life. It may hurt a little but you can get pass it. Thank you for this video !!

The quality of your cinematography keeps getting better each time. I especially appreciate the content of this particular video.
My family also immigrated to the US some 18 years ago. I was 12. And for the last 18 years I spent my life pursuing and preparing for a career that made my soul worse and worse the closer I approached my destination.
Eventually I had to accept the things I cannot change: this is not for me.
And so, here I am today, open to whatever lies ahead.
My therapist shared something profound the other day:
“The way to dispel the fear of the future is by having a powerful present.”
So that’s been my aim as of late: to be present.
To let go of people, places, and things that are no longer good for my soul is to set me free to be whole again.
I am exactly where I need to be.
And I accept my place in life.
Anyways, I really appreciate your content. Thank you for sharing and keep up the awesome work 🙏🏻

Thank you. You don't know how much this video means to me. I've let go my career last September and working at my family's restaurant ever since. But people surrounding me keep pushing me to pursue my career again when I can feel it in my bone that I don't want to pursue it anymore and I'm happy just working as I am right now, because there's no glamour in working at a suburb restaurant compared to my career. This video really makes me feel relieved of my decision and have me trying not to doubt myself when it comes to my own happiness. So, thank you, Sophie.

Yes it's ok to know when to quit or even to fail because on the other side there is something must greater. When we are our present in the moment/season of life even if its not where we want to be; when we receive our blessing we are even more grateful for it. However, sometimes in life we're trapped in situations due to commitment or responsibility. As we get older, making changes is much harder to do. Especially when kids or loved ones are involved. Freedom can certainly have it's limitations. Some are self imposed, others are simply beyond our control. I give up when and where I'm able to. Otherwise it comes down to a degree of personal sacrifice. Just a thought. Another nice vid, thanks.

Love this message because I literally gave up a lot in order to find my joy and creativity again. It was excruciatingly painful and almost cost my life. Living a life that matters to me is much better than following a hollow idea of success that's empty and lonely. You're not alone. You're not a loser if you give up on something that no longer serve your highest good. Blessings to whoever is feeling off and doing their best. Know that you're not alone. Take care.

Giving up is also known as surrender. When you surrender you gain it all, you now let the universe decide instead of what you think is right. You will naturally grow and become the person you are the moment you let go of these reality models.

It's been almost 2 years and although I was very unhappy, and don't regret doing what was needed to stop the unhappiness, I'm not happy being alone. Maybe that's the lesson I need to learn - is to be happy being alone.
