You made it look so easy and in fact, IT WAS! Thanks so much! I didn't have the plastic pry tool but used a Lego brick separator tool and it worked just fine.
Great video! We swapped a radio in an hour thanks in part to this. No life story, no blah blah blah! Thank you!! Bam! Also, tip: not to lose those screws, stick a little rare earth magnet on your impact driver's shaft near the drill end and it will magnetize the entire impact shaft. That will hold the 10mm screws for you when you take them out and put them in.
I totaled my 2006 corolla a year ago. My dad gave me his 2008 to replace it. This video helped my take the 6-disc player out of my 2006 and I just swapped it into my 2008 since that one was only a single disc player. 1,000 thumbs up! My 2006 corolla lives on :)
Excellent video. I just installed an FH-X700BT in my 2006 Corolla with no trouble (except having to go buy more electrical tape.) Everything went perfectly, and I am really pleased with myself for saving $120 in install price. Thank you so much.
Best video out there! The original speakers already are pretty good, it's just the original radio that is crappy, so just hooking a subwoofer and you get some pretty amazing sound out of it!
Thanks for posting this vid! It was really helpful while swapping out my stereo in my 2003 Corolla. I can't believe how easy it was, infinitely easier than my old Buick Skylark was.
Pep boys tried to charge me $180 to do this for me over the weekend. It was an emergency but not at that price. Thank you for helping me step my handyman game up.
@@Enfig yeah that’s all I needed, they considered it uninstalling and reinstalling it. The issue was my third party radio wasn’t turning off when i cut the engine so the radio was draining my battery. Needed to unplug it and plug it back in.
It doesn't really matter where its at as long as there is room to remove the panel. It is usually recommended that you disconnect the battery but nit necessary. It just reduces the damage if something happens. The key is on but engine not running when I shift the car but I reccomed putting it in park and removing the key once that trim is off.
The door where you put your hands in to remove the big panel on my Toyota is broke. I found a replacement at a junk yard for the whole panel. You mentioned something could happen by disconnecting the airbag light when removing the panel. What should I expect? I need to unplug it obviously to switch out the panel, but just wanted to know what I should do or be aware of. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this how to video. My friend's clock on her 2003 Corolla is not working. I will use your video to repair it. Her car is an automatic. Also, the light bulb for the gear shifter is not working on her car. Might be just a burned out bulb. I was wondering if I take off the gear shifter panel, would I be able to see the light bulb or some other parts need to be taken off? Thanks
Thanks for the video! It looks like it will be very helpful. The model that I have is exactly the same, except that it has a digital climate control panel (so there is no 3 knobs to remove to find the hidden phillips screw) does that mean its fixed in another place? and if so any ideas how to remove that? Thanks!
I have a 2002 corolla. i haven't taken out the headunit yet but i was wondering if it is possible to hook up a subwoofer to the stock headunit? is there a spare output at the back?
Probably a dumb question, but when you remove the panel is the shift in Drive or 2nd according to your video? Also, should you disconnect the car battery when working on the radio? Is the key in ACC? Couldn't tell. Sorry for all the questions, and thanks again!
great video. I have been searching your site for an adapter that would allow any USB device to be plugged in, not just an ipod. Does this exist? If not, is there a product that would allow iPod music connection as well as an 3.5mm AUX plug?
Superb video. Utterly efficient. Thanks for the tip on using a magnet to get the screws out, and using gum when reinstalling them. When I reinstalled them I wrapped the screw heads with a little plumbing thread tape to get them to stay in the socket.
@inboundDMC WE do not have a 4 runner video but if you bring the car to our shop and let us fil the removal we will do it for free as long as we have not done it when you contact us.
I have a 2006 toyota corolla the cd changer won't load or eject i was able to pull out 2 cd's with a tweezer. is this cd changer fixable and where do i get a panel tool?
+Real Edit Line This is a toyota radio so it is neither a standard double din or single din but it can be replaced by most standard radios. We have all the parts to make this a plug and play just call us up.
I'm currently changing this entire panel with the ac control etc, If i unplug everything and replace it with another, would it be a problem? as in would the car start fine or would i need some sort of code?
Hey @Enfig great video tutorial on taking out the stock deck! I'm upgrading my whole sound system, and have posted a video response to your video of part 1. Your video helped me get started, and I'm doing a whole series on upgrading my speakers as well. The tape trick with the bolts helped too :D
I have a Corolla 2006 and the 5-multi CD player is jammed with 3 CDs. Disconnected and reconnected the car battery. No luck., there is no reset button. My radio works so I don't think it's a fuse. Do you have a vid on how to unjam the CD player? BTW, great vid on the radio. Thanks.
lol you dont need a special tool. any plastic prying device will work. but i would suggest getting this tool as it makes work easier, and then you have it for later on
Hey @Enfig , I don't use CDs no more, and I am thinking if is possible to install a 2010 Yaris set (which has auxiliar) into my old 2004 corrolla. Greetings form Mex!
This video helped me alot but for some reason after I finished everything. . The clock on the dash is out but everything else including new stereo lights up works fine. . You know what it might be causing this issue ?
Careful with that front panel. I didn't realize that the top corners are clipped and ended up breaking both. They don't "pop off" as easily as this looks unless it's been done to the car before, and the joints have been loosened.
I agree this is why I pry on the top when I remove the radio to loosen those clips. Also make sure that the plastic is not cold because had plastic brakes not bends. This is the part of the video where I loosen the top. ruclips.net/video/b3Bz5yz_DkU/видео.htmlm42s
Sometimes disconnecting an airbag indicator can cause an airbag fault that must be reset by the dealer. I dont think that will happen with the corolla but I am not 100% sure.
@sm1ttysav Also in many cars my customers have had issues with an unrelated module not working after unplugging the battery. Because of the power surge. I'm not saying that you shouldn't disconnect the battery but sometimes it can cause damage. This is a can that I personally would not disconnect the battery on.
Does anyone know if there is another fuse behind the radio? My radio suddenly stopped working. I have checked the fuse box and none of the fuses are blown. I was in the process of removing the radio myself to check but couldn’t complete the last step as my tool wasn’t long enough to reach the 2 screws at the back of the radio. So if someone could tell me if there is another fuse at the back of this radio or not, that would be appreciated.
You made it look so easy and in fact, IT WAS! Thanks so much! I didn't have the plastic pry tool but used a Lego brick separator tool and it worked just fine.

awesome video..used this yesterday to R&R my sons stereo....perfect instructions
thankyou for the video. was scared to touch anything to install a new radio. but your vid showed how easy Toyota make it
Dear friends, thanks for the video, it was very instrutible.
Congratulations from the Brazil.
A gate key card fell behind the little storage box and your video help me open it up and get it out. Thanks a lot Great video

Thanks

$180 labor to install a radio sounds fair but not just to remove the radio.

Really nice video. Any idea on the dimension of the Toyota radio? Is it double DIN?
Great vid, I just installed an aftermarket kit in my wife's car. helped a lot!
@arcangel861 WE do not have one of a radio install yet but it is pretty easy once you get the radio out.

I need to watch the first part as I was repairing the clock. Thanks a lot.
can you tell me whats the radio code for a 2005 toyota corolla since you already removed yours?
@CrazFilmz The factory radio is a double din.
Holy shit straight to the point and quick easy removal, I will be sure to use this when installing my SSL radio

Great video! Thx- it enabled me to take my stereo out and remove the 2 pennies that were inside the cd player.
Lost a screw in the dashboard, and I couldn't find it. I'm "screwed"!!!
Go to a scrap yard

is that panel tool from crutchfield?

@elmatatan94 We have a civic install but it has not been edited yet.
Kudos. Simple, easy, and fast.
What power tool did you use to remove the four screwdrivers? Is there other ways to do it and can you post links on where to buy it? Thanks.
+Isaac Moua A regular socket extension.
never seen a corolla of this model came with wooden laminate, is that custom wooden panels or factory?
You have to send the radio to get repaired or try and repair it yourself. There is no easy way.
Thanks for the video! Nice work, good sound, good narration. Appreciated! :D
@Whookids101 I'm not sure but I think you should be ok.

Anyone know where the second plug 0:42 attached to the plug he’s unplugging?

For the cigarette lighter plug? What is the second clip thats not plugged to anything for? Just wondering 🤔🤔🤔
Its probably for a light that goes around the port on some models.
@cldagy I"m not sure how to do that.

how do you change the temperature light bulb (green)?
What size are the four notes that you took out with a nut driver
I'm going to assume you meant bolts. I think they were 10MM
@lidorsa Taking it out is the hard part. Once you have taken it our just do it backwards.
does the right hand drive corolla follow the same instructions
I'm not sure but it should.
@toyota420xp You can order it from us. Search on the site for ATHKNGL
where can i get the screws for mounting down the radio
I don't know the size of them but the dealership will have them but more expensive than a hardware store.
@Enfig 4runner? what are you on about.
my Corolla has air con so no switches to pull off where do i find the screw please?
I have never worked on a Corolla that does not have the manual controls.

I have no idea. But the parts to replace the radio with an aftermarket radio are very cheap. Check out our website.

You're welcome.
You would need a hi to low adapter for that.
It will also work on the 6 CD. The only time it wil lnot work is if you have a slave CD changer down below.
@kinnander80 No but if you bring us the car we wil ldo it for free as long as you are still the first one we videotape.
excellent instructional....thank you!!!

I think its a 10mm but I'm not 100% sure.

can i use those old side mounts in next new system?
Sometimes you can but sometimes they dont sit at the right depth. Plus you need the trim that comes with the side brackets to do an install.
do you have any other videos on how to clear 6 cd jams on 2006 corolla?
