I’m not a big fan of contemporary country music, or country music in general, but Randy Travis is the real deal. Tugs on my heartstrings every time I hear his voice. Thanks for the beautiful reaction 💗❤️💗

This song is from 1987. I wouldn't call that "contemporary country". That was back when country was still COUNTRY.

    • @evanhughes1510
      @evanhughes1510 Год назад +1

It depends what you mean by contemporary country. Country music from the late 80s through mid 90s was really great. Of course, at that time, it was considered contemporary country compared to the country music in the past, which would’ve been the music of the 50s - 70s.

So Randy’s first album was full of mostly sad songs. My wife and I hadn’t been dating too long, and I made some cheesy comment about our relationship being so good that Randy Travis would even write a happy song. The next day I heard “Forever & Ever Amen” the first time.
Been married nearly 34 years now & still sign our cards with “Forever & Ever, Amen!”

The timbre of his rich baritone voice is unparalleled. My favorite Randy Travis songs are Reasons I Cheat; Promises; Take Another Swing At Me; This is Me; Look Heart, No Hands; Spirit of a Boy, Wisdom of a Man; That’s Where I Draw the Line; I Told You So; The Box; He Walked On Water; Three Wooden Crosses; Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart; It’s Just a Matter of Time; On the Other Hand; and Forever and Ever Amen.

I know this video is 2 years old, but I figured I'd answer the question anyway.
One of our songs was The Judd's, Love Can Build a Bridge. That was the one that played after we'd exchanged vows and were walking out together.
Our first dance was to George Jones, The Right Left Hand. I was his second wife.
We will be celebrating 16 years in October. I tend to play Kenny Rogers, Through the Years around the time of our anniversary.

Someone did a sock puppet..sing-a-long to this song on stage back
when I was a kid in school and the song was popular. When the lyrics "if it all fell out", the puppet's hair fell out and screamed. I still remember that for some reason. The things you remember.. I hated being in plays and always tried to get out of participating but I dang sure miss those couple of times my class had to attend high school plays. They just seemed magical.
I can't remember a single field trip but I remember those two puppets in..1st? grade and some students parodying that Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri Spartan Cheerleader skit. Y'all remember how funny SNL was?!

Way back in the mid 1980's, I happened to work in a building that Randy's uncle owned. In the same building, his uncle had a business and I got to meet a lot of his family, although I never got to meet Randy himself. He had already moved to Nashville and was becoming a country music star at that time. I have a very vivid memory of his grandmother showing up one day. Try to imagine Queen Elizabeth in a flannel shirt and jeans driving a Jeep Cherokee. Very nice people. I have fond memories of those days.

My wife and I have been married for 25 years now. We didn't have a specific song for our wedding, but I do have to say that I had an amazing example in my life. My parents celebrated their 70th anniversary (yes you heard that right), before my dad passed away less than a year later. There's a episode of Matlock where Randy (B4 his stroke) is in Matlock's daughters truck. The radio comes on with Randy singing. So he starts singing with it. LeAnn turns to him and says "have you ever thought about becoming a singer? Cause you sound a whole lot better than that guy" pointing to radio. LoL. Now after his stroke the only word he can sing of this song is the last Amen. Still love him

This time around, all 3 of our kids will be there. Our first one was born before we could get hitched. Our song is Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse( love the acoustic version the best ). But there are several country songs that we share. Remember When by Alan Jackson, It Won't Be Like This For Long by Darius Rucker, just to name a couple.

Hi there! I came across your videos while browsing for reactions and I really like your format. I have a couple of suggestions for your country journey. First is a song I originally heard at a Kenny Rogers concert that was later covered by Blake Shelton called Ol' Red and the other is Martina McBride's Concrete Angel. If you have time please check out Ray Charles' duet with Willie Nelson Seven Spanish Angels. Thanks again and well done to you both!😊😊😊

Tasha, for your 'black country artists' you might want to check out Mickey Guyton. 'Black like me' 'Bridges' and 'Heaven down here' are all pretty good.
And Jimmie Allen 'Good times Roll' 'Best shot' 'Make me want to' are some bangers.
And of course, Blanco Brown 'The Git up' and 'Georgia Power' 'Just the way' w/Parmalee, and of course Cowboy Troy 'If you don't want to love me' and Beast on the mic' just to name a few.
Loving how much you're enjoying the awesomeness that is country music!
Like you I am a 'country girl of color.'
I was raised on a farm in Tennessee (I'm from Alabama) near a small town halfway between Nashville and Memphis, and grew up on Country and Southern Gospel music.
My paternal great grandmother always had her country music playing on the radio, so did one of my great aunts. They both said they listened to it, for the relatable stories (they were both raised on family farms, but different branches of my family), and they could understand the lyrics.
Hanging around them when I was little gave me an appreciation of country music that I am seeing grow in your soul the same way it has in mine.
Yes, if everybody listened to country we'd be way better off as a nation.
Now don't get me wrong I love GOOD music of any genre, my playlists consist of everything from rock to jazz to gospel to blues to country to bluegrass...it just depends on the day!
Enjoy Nashville!! (Are y'all doing CMA fanfest next year?)
Last thing, there is an album and documentary that came out in 1994 called 'Rhythm, country, and blues' which I believe is one of the best albums ever done, and if you get a chance Patti Labelle and Travis Tritt sing 'When Something is Wrong with my Baby' I would love to see you BOTH react to please and thank you, guaranteed chills!!
The documentary is just about an hour long, and is on RUclips.
God bless y'all, I'm here for the journey!!🙂💜💜😇

My wedding song was Sam Cooke's "You Send Me". Sam is a black artist who was singing in the 60's. Sadly he died at a young age. We love Sam Cooke's music, all of it. If you haven't heard him, please look him up and react to some of his songs. They are not country so maybe your husband would like to react with you. I would recommend 'You Send Me", "Chaingang", "Cha Cha Cha", "Cupid" and "Only 16". My husband and I have been married for 23 years. I still love him as much today as I ever did and probably more.

New follower after watching your journey through country music.
Here is a list I put together I believe is a good well-rounded selection of old/new, male/female, etc. Not my top 10, but what I think you may both like after watching your reactions.
Promise no crying songs except for the last one perhaps.
All feel great music and storytelling fun with upbeats.
    Alabama - Mountain Music
Merle Haggard - Are The Good Times Really Over
Alan Jackson - I Don't Even Know Your Name
Barbara Mandrell - I Was Country Before Country Wasn't Cool
Pistol Annies - Hell On Heels
Tracy Lawrence - If The World Had A Front Porch
Toby Keith - I Love This Bar
Mindy McCready - Guys Do It All The Time
Zac Brown Band - Chicken Fried
Rascal Flatts - Bless The Broken Road
Here is a real offshoot. I have a very eclectic taste in music. Tell me what you think about the ones below.
    Wayne Toups - Sugar Bee

I still hope to one day be this level of a man for a lady despite my betrayals towards me. Also side note I'm rakine takemi. I still hope your husband liked the final fantasy 7 remake. Theres been some hopeful news on legend of dragoon remake.
