Yes, in a way it is a betrayal, however this song is from peter perspective because it said "i denied i knew hos name" which peter denied him 3 times per the prophecy. By this time Judas had already hung himself in shame
So sorry to hear you don’t believe in Jesus. He loves you….best friend you will ever have. Not judging you at all just wishing you could feel the love that Jesus has for you. A free gift of eternal life. Bless you sir!!!!
This was from the Apostle Peter's perspective. He had denied that he even knew Jesus when it came down to it. He was confronted three times and denied each time. He believed that even if Jesus rose again, He would never forgive him. Judas hanged himself and was not alive to see Jesus' resurrection. He had betrayed the innocent blood.
I had this song on Don Francisco's Forgiven album on 8-track. I've never heard anyone else sing it. Dolly did a great job. It fits her voice. Thanks for reacting to it.
I love Don Francisco music. I too like his version better. He is a great singing storyteller. I was fortunate to hear him sing it live in late 70s/early 80s. It is such a haunting song.
@@jennyandjohnfelix1623 no, it was written by Don Francisco... "The inspiration for this song came from a different one that Francisco was playing in concert at the time, about Jesus' crucifixion. In the liner notes for Don Francisco: The Early Works he explained: "I sat down with the intention of trying to write about the Resurrection, because, let's face it, the Crucifixion is just half the story, and the worst half by far." Francisco's original intention when writing the song was to tell it from the perspective of the Apostle Thomas. He planned to set it in the room where the disciples were when Jesus appeared to them and spoke to Thomas. However he couldn't make it work, so he tried instead to do it from Peter's perspective. By putting a lot of his deepest feelings into Peter's experience he crafted a consummate telling of the Resurrection story, which ended up as his best known tune."
Dolly has now made charting songs 7 decades. she is the queen of country. No one will even be allowed the longevity of her career and to be charting artists that long got her in the literal Guinness book of world records three times
This song was from the perspective of Peter. After Jesus was taken away, Peter denied knowing Him because he was afraid for his life. Peter was ashamed wholeheartedly becacause before the Romans came to take Jesus away, Peter specifically told Jesus that he would give up his life for his Lord. When Jesus met Peter, after He rose, Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him 3 times... To cement the fact that Jesus forgave him and loved Peter. Very endearing message of sin and God's true forgiveness of our sins and mistakes. I truly hope this helps you to realize how much Jesus loves you!
LOVE this song. Dolly singing it gives me chills!!! It's a repeat(l could listen to it 5 or 6x's in a row) song for me. Now, I'll give you a singer & song no one has mentioned on here. Try Cristy Lane, "One Day At A Time" Also a fun song to do is Barbara Mandrell "Sleeping Single In A Double Bed" So many great Country Singers of the past for you to discover.
Dolly has always knew about God, I think It's wonderful how so many famous artists in the evening of their stardom, have returned back to God,they still remember From childhood. Our whole world needs to Return To God !!!
For the past 30 years this has been my favorite Easter song. As Jesus predicted, Peter denied knowing Jesus 3 times on the night that he was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. But, after his resurrection he met his disciples at the sea of Galilee where they were fishing. Jesus called them to come in to shore. Peter was the first to recognize Jesus. He jumped from the boat and ran to Jesus who had a breakfast of fish cooking on a campfire. At that moment Jesus restored Peter's spirit He asked Peter 3 times "Peter do you love me?" once for each of Peters denials. In doing this Jesus forgave Peter and built his church upon Peter's faith. If you like modern gospel, you need to also check out Tasha Cobb and her song "Break Every Chain". You and your husband will be blessed.. and yes you may need Kleenex, but its a cleansing and joyful kind of crying.
Boy this takes me back a few decades! I listened to this song so many times as a child... Sandi Patty made it famous if I recall correctly. It was sung from the perspective of Peter; Peter denied knowing Jesus three times the first night of Jesus' arrest. Peter ended up being martyred, being crucified upside down rather than denying Jesus again. Judas killed himself rather than repenting like Peter did. :)
I really think you’d like our native daughters depth . Maybe you won’t do a reaction but I think you might enjoy it. Birds of Chicago too and each of those in the collab on their own are such a gift in music . Dolly has been trying to shine the light in their direction and I will keep pushing their songs.
This song is from Don Francisco. He is a Christian Singer/Story teller. There are Many good songs from him, he is a wonderful story teller. Hope you take time to explore him, at least for yourself.
I love Dolly. That woman can do no wrong. If you want to hear one of her funniest songs try PMS Blues. I most definitely laugh out loud still when I hear it.
The song is from the perspective of Peter, who denied Jesus 3 times. 3:48 Judas betrayed Jesus and later hung himself on the morning Jesus was crucified.
React to these Dolly Parton songs : Touch your woman, Bargain in store, I remember, In my Tennessee Mountain home, I never will marry ( duet with Linda Ronstadt) .

Every time I've watched this performance of this song, my heart swells up like a watermelon. I've been involved in Biblical Research for 49 years. I've been to funerals. No one ever got up and said, "Let's go to lunch." Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Churchianity is all about Jesus being our savior. But that's not what this verse says. A savior and Lord are two different words with two different meanings. I was in the middle of a word study in 1978. It took me to Romans 10. I read the entire chapter to make sure I understood the context. I read every word carefully. When I finished verse 9, I stopped and thought on it with great intense deliberation. I suddenly thought about what it meant to make Jesus Lord. We are bought with a price. (I Corinthians 6:20 and 7:23 clearly say) We are no longer lord of our own lives. He is Lord! Then, I considered his being raised from the dead! WOW! I knew friends in high school that had died. It's impossible after 3 days and 3 nights to get up. Dead is permanent. That's when I realized how many people had never read this verse because they live their lives with their heads stuck in the Gospels. They barely read the Old Testament and almost never read the Epistles. God raised Jesus from the dead. I thought of how rare it is that I would believe this. But as I sat there at my desk, I began to say it out loud and it was like a thunderous echo in my heart and the innermost part of my mind. After a few minutes, I got up to get a cup of coffee and I felt such a peace and joy pour over my life. I recommend people read the book of Romans 100 times to get it in every fiber of their body. Romans is a legal document explaining our rights as God's sons. We are the reason for everything Jesus Christ did. Because of this, when he comes back, (Churchianity calls it the Rapture but the Bible calls it the appearing, the return) he's coming to get those who have fulfilled Romans 10:9. That's a promise in I Thessalonians 4:13-18. Learning is an exciting adventure. Especially self-imposed learning. Romans100club@gmail.com
No. Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver but it was Peter who denied he knew him. One of the people said to Peter, "Weren't you with Jesus?" and Peter said no. He was asked twice more if he was with Jesus and twice more he said no. Jesus had told him that before the rooster crows twice you will deny me trice. There is no record that Judas was anywhere near Jesus when He was crucified. In fact, Judas was probably laying low for fear of retaliation from the other disciples. I was watching the award show the night Dolly sang that and when she belted that first "He's alive!" I got goose bumps. She KILLED this song.
If you like music like this. Check out a song called THE CHAMPION by a singer called carmen. Also Amazing Grace by a young girl named Rhema Marvanne she is very talented and became a gospel singer in honor of her gospel singer mother who died from cancer.
This is from the perspective of Peter, who denied Jesus three times. Judas repented to himself (instead of repenting to God) tried to give the money back but ended up hanging himself.
On the other hand, as others have said in these comments..... Peter did deny him 3 times. Select probably from his perspective. Judas had already hung himself prior to Jesus resurrecting.
Dolly is a treasure but my Lord Jesus is so much more im crying so much right now aint gon lie..they didnt have to do our Lord Jesus like that but He gave it for us.... even those ones crucifying Him...Jesus means everything to me
My grandfather used Peter's denial in his argument that the Church was built on the rock of the Son of God, not on the Rock of Peter. Jesus wouldn't found his church on someone who had denied him three times.
Although Dolly does a great performance singing this song like a performer would, it misses something being sung in a female voice, no matter how fine. This song is from the perspective of Peter, whom I would assume had a male voice. Don Francisco, the writer and original performer of this song first in the late 70s, I believe, captures the spirit of the song perfectly. He doesn't so much perform the song, but rather tells it as a first-hand account, bringing the story to life. see it here ruclips.net/video/GDEMuB6dVEE/видео.html
I think it was told from the perspective of doubting Thomas and Peter Jesus told Peter he would deny him three times before the end of the day and the rooster crowed
Judas betrayed Jesus by telling the Roman guards where Jesus would be ... but Jesus had said to Peter that before the rooster would crow, he'd deny knowing Jesus and it happened so the guilt that Peter felt was eating at him and that's why he fell at Jesus' feet and his world turned into peace after Jesus lifted him up. So yes, it is Peter who is telling the story about Mary (Jesus' mother) who discovered the tomb being empty and the guilt he felt.
Judas betrayed Jesus but was dead by the time Jesus rose. I think you were thinking of Thomas because he doubted Jesus had risen till he saw him and touched his wounds. This was at least partially told from Peters point of view. Peter felt guilty because he denied being a follower of Jesus. He denied him three times before the rooster crowed. (Roosters crow early morning)
It’s from the prospective of Peter. He didn’t betray Jesus but denied knowing him.
Paul that is a form of Betrayal even Jesus said that he would
Yes, in a way it is a betrayal, however this song is from peter perspective because it said "i denied i knew hos name" which peter denied him 3 times per the prophecy. By this time Judas had already hung himself in shame
I hope im never like that which i wouldn't be no better than Peter as much as i love God
We have a member of our church who sings this song every Easter. He belts it out like Dolly. Easter is not complete until Rick sings He's Alive.
Back when the country music awards used to end with a song of faith.
