I was in the choir that night! It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I still cry every time I watch this and relive how it felt to be on that stage. Dolly is truly anointed of the Lord and that performance continues to bless people to this day. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
I was with you that night Ginger! LOL. What a night that was. I still cry every time I hear this song, too. It's a visceral reaction. And here I am Easter morning 2021 and it's my ritual to watch this first thing every year. 🥰🐣🐑🌳🍃🌷🥀🌸🌺🌼🌨☔️ ✝️
WOW! You're so blessed, so lucky. I have so many questions!! Did you practice with her? Was she nice? Did you talk to her? What was she like? How did it affect the audience? It's a shame this can't happen today
I saw an interview with dolly speaking about this. She said that at the end when the choir came in the spirit just hit her. She said goosebumps and everything as she sang He’s alive. See people crying at the end. Said it’s very special moment for her
I post this on another one I saw but when she was done singing this song she got a 15 minute standing ovation, just 15 minutes of uninterrupted clapping…one of the longest ovations ever on record
I remember watching this live and I feel the same way each time I felt that night when I hear it !!!! Dolly is one of the reasons I believe in God !!!!!! Amazing performance !!!!
Only Dolly Parton is the only one who puts true feelings of God in your soul. It brings me to tears every time I hear her sing 🎶 I have it bookmarked on my tablet so I can listen anytime. This song Ty is from the 80s This country here and now needs more music to spread the Word cause America has fallen so disgracefully into Satans hands. Its March 30, 2024 one day before Easter. God Bless Happy Easter
I've heard her sing it many times and each time I cry from joy because He IS Alive!!! I don't celebrate Easter, my congregation has Passover but this I listen to from late March to all of April because it's so beautiful. Praise Yashuah! HE'S ALIVE!!
A group of ladies in my childhood church sang this song every Easter and that was where I first heard it. I can still hear one of their sweet soprano voices singing "Heaven's gates are open wide!"
this video is from her performance on the country music awards October 8th, 1990. the song was written by a christian singer songwriter Don Francisco in 1977. Dolly recorded the song for her White Limozeen album in 1989. He's Alive was the third song released from the album.
I have loved this version of this song for years. You can hear the passion in her voice. But the thing that sticks out the most was this was televised, looks like the CMA awards. She received a standing ovation, There is one man that is wiping tears from his eyes. This could not be done today. The powers that be would not allow this song on TV. The world we live in needs this more than ever.
The first time I heard "He's Alive" was in church by our choir. It sent chills through me. When the soloist hit the first, He's Alive, I was on my feet with arms raised... for the first time in my life. A few other friends did the same & it was the start of a revival in our quiet little church.
I heard it first on cassette by Gwynne and Lynne Baldrige in the early 80's. Still love it! Don Francisco's lyrics really make Bible stories come alive! Peter, on Resurrection Day.
What I love about this song is that it starts with fear and ends is joy. That emotional journey peppered with details like "rare and sweet perfume" that really paint a picture makes this song such a gift to listeners.
Dolly did a Country Crossroads show with rock singer Melissa Etheridge and at one point she's belting out rock and roll and you can see Melissa looking wide eyed at her. Dolly can rock and her charisma shines through.
+Susan McGill Yes she does. She was speaking in the person of the Apostle Peter, John was the Apostle John & Mary could have been either Mary Magdalene or Mary Jesus' mother.
Actually the song was written by Don Francisco. He used to belong to secular rock bands before Christ came into his life. He has a lot of other similar type songs from the Bible. Check him out on RUclips. God Bless!!
In isolation due to Covid19; this song made the despair I'm feeling dissipate. I saw the original performance in 1989 on the CMA's. Dolly did a stunning rendition, 31 years later it is just as powerful. The vocals are pure and beautiful. The message is timeless.
I saw this live on the Country Music Awards on TV. An incredible song and a fantastic performance. The song was written by Christian artist Don Francisco and he sang it in the late 70s. Dolly's performance is really the gold standard for singing it. She brings such power and conviction to the song. It's just a well-written song that conveys the Easter story in a way that's not maudlin or saccharine, but is powerful and emotional. God bless you too, Ty!
Yes He is the resurrection and Life and gives life eternal who accepts Him... Life is short we make better choices in our lives ... Choose Him for eternity 🙏 He will soon return just as He said he would... Where will you spend the eternity your soul needs a savior no denying in the awesomeness of the vast creation all they knew their creator .. It's time you know Him He Loves you with Eternal Love
I love this song. What I love most is the passion with which she tells the story. Dolly is a very gifted story teller. You should hear her 2020 quarantine version.
There are 100s of recordings of this from various artists and some of them do amazingly well..... but NOTHING will ever come close to touching this performance. Even her own performances of this ( Like the Dove Awards) are amazing but this ??? It's in a universe all to itself.
The first time I heard that song, was by chance as I was surfing RUclips ... and it blew me away. Chills, tears, amazement and so many emotions came one after the other. I am a huge fan of Dolly, however, I hadn't heard that song before a few years ago. Every time I hear it since, I've had the same emotions. I play it every Easter since then and even before/after Easter. I need to hear it once in awhile and it seems to restore my faith in mankind. A must listen for sure.
This is a spine tingling song. When I first heard it, I was uplifted. Life on earth here is not always so easy. But listening to this song reminding me of His forgiveness and love. When she gets to the end and the octave goes higher, I feel like I am right with her. Christ lifts me up and takes my cares away. Thank you so much for playing this wonderful song.
This came out from another artist soon after I was saved in the mid '70's. There were some phenomenal Christian songs being done in that decade. Dolly did a magnificent job on this one. As she always does.
@ MRM ! I am rewatching April 2022. I can't imagine that the audience was ready for that experience. I wasn't. That is so heart wrenching and moving. She was filled with The Spirit ,and I am also feeling the same. I am a huge Dolly fan. Thank you ❤️
I've never heard Dolly sing it before, but I already loved the song. It was a Christian folk-rock song from the late 70's or early 80's. I heard it in the 80's and it reminds me of when a family member first got involved in the church, and brought that enthusiasm about Jesus into my world. Dolly did a great job singing it.
I first heard this song when I was newly baptized teenager. I heard her sing this live at a convention just before Easter. This song moves me to tears every time I hear it. Yes, it's beautifully performed but it's more than that. It's the Greatest Story Ever Told that moves me to tears, not just her execution. In this song, the listener is put right there, at the Crucifixion and at the Resurrection. What an amazing journey! I believe this song, like so much of Dolly's work, is Divinely inspired. Sending you blessings!
I grew up hearing our music pastor sing this song every Easter. Even as a child, once I understood Jesus’ sacrifice for me, I’d cry every time. The power behind the song when proclaiming, “He’s Alive”, reminds me of The Power that raised Him from the dead! Our hope is not dead, it’s alive, in Jesus! I now play this song every Easter!
Love Dolly Parton she is amazing and so beautiful she such an angel love her music I got to see Dolly a few times before her show's she was so sweet! her concert's are amazing! thank you for sharing! Dolly is amazing storyteller .
Every time I hear this song, I feel the Holy Spirit’s power thru those words. It touches my soul deeply. I also feel like I am experiencing the scenes she is singing about! Now, that is an excellent singer who can do that. Amen! He IS Alive!
First time I heard this song was when she did this performance on the CMAs. It still brings tears to my eyes every time I watch and listen to this video. This was the first time I saw someone bring a choir on stage with them.
This song reduces me to tears, every time. Her voice draws you so totally into that moment when the first people suddenly realized the Beloved Jesus, who they had witness suffer through such a horrible death, was, after all, really and truly ALIVE....SUCH AN AMAZING, AMAZING THOUGHT! He's ALIVE AND I'M FORGIVEN! HEAVEN'S GATES ARE OPEN WIDE!! SWEET JESUS, INDEED!!! To me, it sums it all up, perfectly.
When my mom was rolling my hair for church when I was little, this was my favorite song to come on. It mostly came on around Easter. But any other time, she’d yell for me to come to the makeup room to listen. “It’s your song!” she’d scream. It was the very first song I downloaded onto her iPhone years ago. It has a very special place in my heart. He’s alive and I’m forgiven. ❤️
He’s Alive and I’m forgiven!!! He saved a sinner like me, and I will get to see Him and touch the only man made things (His scars) that will be in heaven. Cold chills and tears of joy to hear her hit those high notes! 01/03/2023
I first heard this song when I was 14 years old and we sung it standing on a cross at least 30 feet off the floor It was a testimony of Jesus being alive and has been a blessing since
When I first heard this my mother was dying. It actually helped me accept that and know she was going to be alright even if I couldn't see it. I will always be thankful for this song helping me accept death....and of course resurrection. Thank you Dolly.
Dolly & Country Music are so Positive, UP lifting, Setting Examples, & God centered; the very opposite of Hip Hop Culture that is destroying our kids today. * * * 3 CHEERS for TRADIITONAL FAMILY VALUES.
I heard this song about ten years ago. I have watched it hundreds of times since. Always I swell with tears and deep appreciation of what our Lord did for us. Thank you for putting this out there to your followers. Happy Resurrection Day!
I remember watching this when she sang it live for the first time. Every time I hear this, I have chills and it touches my soul. I certainly feel God's presence when she sings this particular song.
One of the most amazing and moving songs I have ever heard. So much gratitude to Dolly for her expressions of her experience/s with Jesus in so many if her songs. 🙏🌟❤️
Its amazing how Dolly can take any cover song and put new life into it... I've herd her do heavy metal songs and totally make it sound like a fabulous gospel.. She's amazing.. There will never be another Dolly Parton as she has been consistently going since her first days back in late 60's. And she still makes great music an concerts to this day...
Thank you for not talking in the middle of this song! Its awesome..always brings tears of joy in my eyes..So many break up the song and talk in the middle of it.. much love!
I was watching your reaction just now. I like the song because it really blesses me. We all have bad days. This song and video lifts my spirits and gives me encouragement. Thank you so much ty Smith. God bless you and your family.
Don Francisco wrote the lyrics from Peter's perspective, and the music to this song in the 70's. His wife said it needed more, a finale, so he added the "He's Alive..." end. I liked it a lot by him... I LOVE it by Dolly!! Great song 👌
I taped this many years ago off of the awards show it was on, at least I think it was an awards show, either way I have this transferred from vhs to dvd. I caught many of those old shows and taped many rare appearances. It makes me so happy that I took the time now. Thank you for your reaction.
I absolutely love this song 2 thumbs up. I get chills...the good kind of chills...when I hear this song. Powerful song with a powerful voice. Other artists can sing this but my opinion I don't think anyone can convey the power this song has quite like Dolly. She felt what she was singing.
My first contemporary Christan concert I went to was a concert by Don Francisco. That was in the early 1980s and I still have his cassette with this song on it.
Seen it years ago on a country music awards show. Knew it was real then and each year it gets more real. So glad to be a follower/believer in Christ. Not perfect but forgiven.
It makes you feel like you let JESUS down and your wanting forgiveness for it all and he forgives you . His arms are open to accept you. And your praying for your sins to be washed away , and you feel peace and joy after. For me that is how the song makes me feel . THANK the Lord.
Hey Ty. I'm just now seeing this video. A year later. Lol. I absolutely love this song and it's message of hope and love. I am familiar with it because I've always been a huge fan of Dolly, but like it for it's powerful message.
I used to watch Dolly on the Porter Wagner show when I was a little girl. I always loved her music. The first time I heard this song it really moved me.
I watched this when it aired. I was humbled and filled with the love of God. I watch it every so often when i am struggling with faith. Still effects me the same way to this day. I am 46 and saw this as a teen.
I’m from Tennessee so I have heard this song growing up my whole life and it gives me chills every time I hear it. Just the imagery of Jesus in this song fills my heart.
I will say again..stop making an idol out of these stars,She is talented but so are many that are never famoue, famoue, She needs prayer. We all need to be humble before the Lord and live holy
@@maryevans2949 Mary you don’t need to worry about that I am a strong Christian. I would never make an idol out of anyone. Jesus Christ is the only person that I worship. I just think there are some amazing singers in this world.😊
This song always makes me come to tears and thinking of my mom as this time of year comes around. People need to open there eyes and start pray sing the lord. I was raised in a church of god church.
The song has been around quite some time, as mentioned by others. I hope to someday find the video of her performance of it on the Johnny Carson Show; she blew the house down. And you might not have noticed all the country greats who were in the audience because the camera rolled by them so fast. What a crowd.....and they loved Dolly.
Ty, I never knew you reacted to this song, what an amazing song. This song moves me every time I hear it. It is also fun to see how far you have come in 4 years.
And my first time viewing your video. I have allways enjoyed Dolly's songs. Now I will look for more of your videos. You seem to have a great hold on life and who we all are. God's Children..Thank You
What do I feel when I hear this song? The introduction is filled with all my emotions that I am unworthy. The chorus releases the joy I feel knowing Jesus died for us. It doesn't matter which of this song I am listening to......
Never heard of it before but loved it and not only did it give me goose bumps but bought a tear to my eyes just beautiful! Thankyou for posting this reaction.👏
One of my favorites since I was little. Always powerful and still gives me chills. I loved watching your face hearing it your first time. The same parts that got me got you. It's easy to get lost in the emotions, especially it being a true story. God bless and Happy Easter.
I was in the choir that night! It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I still cry every time I watch this and relive how it felt to be on that stage. Dolly is truly anointed of the Lord and that performance continues to bless people to this day. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
It was done really well and I enjoyed the choir singing at the end. Praise Jesus.

Wow, I never heard that. Dolly hits hard with her performance of this song. I'd say the long ovation was well deserved.
Dolly OWNS this song. I have heard others sing it but the use of instruments, the choir, her phrasing and emotion conveyed!!!!
The POWER of her crystal clear vibrato is SHOCKING. Nobody outsings Dolly Parton.
@@sarahrush7397 Don Francisco, the who wrote the song was far better than dolly. Though God bless her for sing Christ

This is a powerful song to hear!! Only, Dolly could pull it off. Thank you for playing this🤗

I'm sitting here crying because of the message. I've been listening to Dolly for 40yrs. She is a Queen
Nah just a special child of the king
NO, JESUS IS KING!
She's Anointed. God sent her her.

I absolutely love this song 2 thumbs up. I get chills...the good kind of chills...when I hear this song. Powerful song with a powerful voice. Other artists can sing this but my opinion I don't think anyone can convey the power this song has quite like Dolly. She felt what she was singing.
Totally awesome totally spectacular totally beautiful song singer and performance,
This song gave me chills the first time I heard this. She sings it so powerfully she brings the story to life
This is my go to song, when i need to be reminded how much Jesusl loves me.
Yeah, and we can never grasp in our whole being how much He LOVES us!!!
Don Francisco wrote this I do believe. He was a Christian folk singer. Adam Were Are You? Is also awesome.
Don wrote this beautiful song and Dolly great doing his song
I had in on Don Francisco's album Forgiven on 8-track when I was in college (early 80s). Great album.
Dolly Parton wrote all her materials except one or two songs more the 5000 songs and wrote songs for another artist
'He's Alive and I'm forgiven' are the best words ever.
Kelly Rider Porter gave Dolly that big break. She sure used it to the fullest
Just beautiful ! How it moves me ?HE'S ALIVE!! That's why it moves me !God bless you Todd... opss Ty, lol.
This is the first time for me hearing this too. I am glad I'm not the only one who cried.
Always love hearing Dolly Parton!
This song is the essence of The Holiday we celebrate She Is Amazing I love this song Great job Dolly Parton God bless you
I watched this when it aired. I was humbled and filled with the love of God. I watch it every so often when i am struggling with faith. Still effects me the same way to this day. I am 46 and saw this as a teen.
Dolly was around 46 when she sang this.
TY Hes Alive was a SUPER BIG HIT SUPER BIG

I’m from Tennessee so I have heard this song growing up my whole life and it gives me chills every time I hear it. Just the imagery of Jesus in this song fills my heart.
*AND 3 cheers for Modern Ren Man for PROMOTING WHOLESOME ENTERTAINMENT on this channel!
Nobody has a voice like this lady. She’s a one-of-a-kind. Absolutely beautiful and American treasure!
I just think there are some amazing singers in this world.😊
She painted a good picture through her voice. I could see it all in my mind's eye
This song always makes me come to tears and thinking of my mom as this time of year comes around. People need to open there eyes and start pray sing the lord. I was raised in a church of god church.
Oh Ty! Tears rolling before she started. HE'S ALIVE! favorite Dolly song
I remember seeing that very episode of Johnny Carson. It was truly amazing.
@@helenhighwater5313 Yes. Everyone was a bit stunned!
Ty, I never knew you reacted to this song, what an amazing song. This song moves me every time I hear it. It is also fun to see how far you have come in 4 years.
I’ve never heard this song before it was beautiful♥️ she did a song years ago that she wrote called. Coat of many colors 🎙and it was a true story.
I love that song.. I think mrm did that one if I'm not mistaken
They've actually made 2 tv movies about Dolly's younger years and one is Coat of Many Colors.
Thankyou for posting this reaction.👏
she does everything with such class, always loved her
One of my favorites since I was little. Always powerful and still gives me chills. I loved watching your face hearing it your first time. The same parts that got me got you. It's easy to get lost in the emotions, especially it being a true story. God bless and Happy Easter.
