I love how the crowd is so supportive, applauding as soon as he started singing. Tough crowd, too, Opry fans know good music, and appreciate talent when they see it.
I worked in Piney Flats Tennessee for over 25 years, still live close. Carson started playing and singing when he was 2 and still is. He has a band and tours. He plays on a lot of churches too.I agree 100% with what you said. He never sat around, they started him singing and playing when he was 2
I've just discovered Carson and his Iron Mountain band, so I'm going down the rabbit 🐇 hole. Thanks, R man, for featuring this wonderful young man when he was a grasshopper. 😊
I worked in Piney Flats Tennessee for over 25 years, still live close. Carson started playing and singing when he was 2 and still is. He has a band and tours. He plays on a lot of churches too.
He played so much here in churches and still is playing. He has his own band. Carson Peters and Iron Mountain. They are fantastic. I wish people would not let their kids play video games. Carson is great and fantastic Christian young man
I live in Nashville and I have been to the Opry possibly 50 times. I go obviously to see the old timers who have been there forever and who have produced hit after hit after hit and I also go to see newcomers to the Opry (I was there the very first time Carrie Underwood performed on the Opry) but It is always a great joy to see unknown singers or musicians see a dream come true as they perform on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry! Kudos to stars like Ricky Skaggs who allow unknown talents like Carson to perform on their part of the show. What a talent this young man has!
Both of them more talented than the average Bluegrass player, for sure. Ricky Scaggs is a great role model for Carson to look up to, and you're exactly right, you know his parents didn't let him sit around playing video games all day. What a talented young man. Bravo!
Regarding your first sentence, Ricky certainly is. As far as Carson, yes he's great for a kid, but I think saying he's better than the average (adult) bluegrass player is letting your emotions cloud your judgment a little.
I'm from Texas but I knew that song and would sing it for kids I stop after the First line ,tell them this is bluegrass and proceed to give it a nasal sound and they would die laughing and almost roll on the floor ! That was so much fun !
I know I’m 2 years late to this but, whatever lol. I remember watching this YEARD AGO. Many people in the comment section are right though the Grand Ole Opry is a DREAM come true for many country/Bluegrass musicians in the south. Being from southern Kentucky aka “the bluegrass state” this made me VERY happy to see him sing a little bit about our very diverse culture. I’m in high school and am a very devoted Christian but, I gotta agree with you. Many kids nowadays don’t have a real connection to their culture and ancestors (I come from Irish, Scottish, and German on my maternal side) and I’m very proud of that. I’m also very proud of where I come from! Kentucky might not be the most “popular” or “a shining star” but I love that cause we don’t want nobody else coming here who won’t respect our culture and faith! God bless him and God bless you! ❤️❤️
Right on! I loved Carson Peters but I loved your analysis more. You are spot on when you talk about the talent of children going to waste because lazy parents would rather let their kids be babysitted by an iPad rather than engage them in something that will make them better people. Keep up the good work. God bless!
Ricky is a cool ass dude and his kids are mad talented.I used to hang out with em. You should react to his daughter Molly skaggs..literally anything. She has the voice of an angel.
I love this video (watched a bunch of times over the past few years) and the simplicity of this child's dream to play a Bill Monroe song on stage at the Grand Ole Opry and Ricky Skaggs making it come true. We call this s**t kicking music for a reason, you can't help but clap along to it or slap your knee. Good stuff.
Thank you. I ran across this video awhile back and couldn't believe you reacted to it. What a cute, well mannered talented kid. And you are so right when you say video games kill creativity.
to stand in that circle of wood, on that stage is an honor not many have had. He is standing where legends were born. If you ever get the chance you should visit this place.
YES!!! I hate Social Media! Ken Burns from PBS said "Social Media" is anything BUT social! Two teens on opposite ends of a sofa looking at their phones...he's right!
You are absolutely right about video games, and T.V. too. With young talent like this, our heritage music is in good hands. Kudos to Ricky, also, in encouraging and showcasing the young talent.
Bluegrass!! Yes! I had my friends 10 yr old in my car and I was playing some bluegrass. She hollered from the back. Turn it off!!! I can't stop tapping my foot!! LOL!
I agree 100% about the video games. That kid is awesome. This Kentucky woman is proud of him. Also proud of Kentucky native Ricky Scaggs, for passing it along for Carson to get to perform @ the Grand Ole Opry.
All fun aside the difference in a violin and a fiddle is just how it is played. My daughter has played everything from classical, blue grass & Celtic. And yes that little boy has put in a lot of practice (work) time. Great to see the next generation.
My kids all play musical instruments just about every sunday in church and occasionally grandkids bust out and sing. I grew up learning music from some great musicians.
I know this is an old video, I grew up with Carson’s dad. Carson is a well rounded young man , he was involved in sports and music growing up. Carson is in high school now, he has remained involved in golf and of course music. He has a group consisting of friends , his dad and another dad. They are awesome, if you get a chance do an update on your channel he has some good stuff on RUclips.
Music has no age, genre or color, good music is the best.timeless and soul cleansing .You dont have like the words or music, but you have to admirer it rechically.
That reminds me of a young Ricky Skaggs I watched a video earlier of him with Lester Flats and Scruggs when he was about the same age as this young man
You seem to really like stories in songs. Check out Cathy Mates "where have you been" or Dan Seals "Everything that Glitters". Both sing effortlessly and have voices like no other, similar to Randy Travis.
i could talk for hours about how many things a kid could do to occupy their time that will help them later in life, and give them a feeling of accomplishment.
You are VERY right what you said at the end. I was a kid growing up in the 1980's and I never would have learned guitar if we had internet or current video games. When you don't have all the entertainment distractions you have to depend on your own imagination and make your own fun. And i played guitar in my room night after night and then started on the piano. I'm glad the internet didn't come a long until I was in my mid-20's. I enjoy the technology of today but I still feel kind of lucky that I grew up really in the last generation before internet.
I would love to see someone react to "Somebody's Praying" by Ricky Skaggs. It's my favorite song of his. Also, "Honey Won't You Open that Door" by Ricky Skaggs. It's a cute song I think you'll enjoy. 😀
This is one of the greatest songs ever. By the father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, and this kid nails it. This kid has a good joke before that song. Q: You know the difference between a violin and a fiddle? A: A violin has strings, and a fiddle has Strangs.
Carson Peters is a good young man who has dedicated himself to the Christian Bluegrass music and has made a name for himself at the Grand Ole Opry and the small churches where he plays his fiddle for the glory of the Lord and His people. I follow him on Facebook and he is one young man who never disappoints with his post or his love of Southern folk music that young and I love hear. African Americans contributed greatly to bluegrass and folk music even though it is not celebrated as it should be. I know the places in Virginia that this music came from and how AP Carter, the leader of the great Carter family, would pay 10 dollars for a great old or new folk tune he would turn into hits on the radio in Tennessee, Louisiana and in Mexico. Good people could buy property and many can trace the first chance of the American dream after selling dozens of songs when you think the Carter family put out about 12 albums a year in their hay day. There should be many more African Americans in the country music hall of fame and as members of the grand ole opry. Ray Charles came to Nashville to do more of a country soul music when County music was at a low point in album sells. I hope someday we can look back and celebrate the people who wrote the music and taught many of the performers to play a style of music almost foreign to them. An honest history is a history we all can live with and draw inspiration from.
You reacted to Hansen twice once when they were kids and once as adults they grew playing their instruments they play many instrments , that is how they grew up by not having video games and phones to stunt their creative juices.
A little story for ya a teenage Vince Gill and his country group once opened for Kiss and they were booed off the stage! Well 15 yea old Vince Gill went and flipped off the fans and said “Kiss my ass!” True story!!!
I love how the crowd is so supportive, applauding as soon as he started singing. Tough crowd, too, Opry fans know good music, and appreciate talent when they see it.

It’s so nice to see a kid that age with manners too 🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
He had manners? Wow didn't really notice lol
Was anyone else blown away by the opening "fiddle" sequence? I bet that kid SLEEPS with that thing!!! He's so at ease playing it....WOW..

Absolutely love Ricky Skaggs, amazing musician! Being from Kentucky I've heard this song a lot.

Carson is more talented than most men!!!

Raised in Tennessee, live in Kentucky. This bought a tear to my eye.
so much young talent coming in..... have you seen "Taj Farrant"? from Australia...
He is great! He sure does have that bluegrass voice down! Love this song, too!
Glad you do such a variety of talent! God bless you too sir!
"A standing ovation at the 'grand' ole Opry"!? "Now, that's hard to do, son"! That's deep!
I love what you are doin - you are helping to bridge the gap -exactly what this country needs! You are a good person, ❤️.

My son plays video games, but not all the time. He loves his trumpet and is the best Trumpet player in high school and he is a Freshman.
Now THAT'S entertainment Country music style!!! That young boy was just excellent! I just can't say it enough! God bless him!
Here's another (She plays country, too, but this is fantastic.)

I LOVED THIS!!! He did Some studying to learn that fiddle, I think he started at about age of 4 years old.
I love our young people
We have a lot of talented kids out there if they have encouragement they can do wonderful things
What a wonderful tribute to the great Bill Monroe !
Right on! I loved Carson Peters but I loved your analysis more. I so agree with you! It's gotta be nurtured. Spot on.

@Stanley Deloach ah i see, that is lovely thank's for the explanation Stanley ! have a great day 'sir' :))
Very talented. I asked for instruments when I was little but no luck. Enjoyed listening to my dad play his accordion and organ.
This is so adorable, I mean it makes me grin, thank goodness for videos like this, simple a smile is hard to achieve these days.
Thank you for sharing this video and your reflection on life and things, fellow Human Being!
You are a good and decent man!

Glad to see your doing this one, this kid is extremely talented and he's got em "strangs" on his fiddle
You are right. His parents are genuinely nice. They sat around and play music when he was young.

Your conclusions at the end of the vid were spot on, bro.
Thank you. I ran across this video awhile back and couldn't believe you reacted to it. What a cute, well mannered talented kid. And you are so right when you say video games kill creativity.
This song always makes me think of my Daddy who grew up in KY.
You reaction is spot on! Especially with the video games
Carson’s all grown up now...should check him out!

Being from the North Ga mountains, I was raised on Bluegrass and Bluegrass musicians, in my family. Love it. Course, I love my Metal, too. Lol.
I'm in the North GA mountains too.Hello kindred spirit!
Maxine McClurd coolness. Bluegrass runs deep in the veins of mountain folk.
@@Tuesdays_Gone Yes ma'am it sure does..I was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky in them hollers and ridges, nothing like mountain folk

My son has to do his Rosetta Stone before he can get on his video games. He wants to master Spanish, Italian, French, and Greek.
@@susana5052 to be honest, he started it himself, including the video game rule. He likes rules, they make him feel safe.
