She’s a wonderful person. So giving, funny, sweet, entertaining, talented. There are so many stories about her that are iconic. One that I love is when she was asked if she used her looks to gain opportunities. She said she looked the way she looked because she liked to and if anyone was doing anything because of her looks, that had nothing to do with her.

This is my favorite song from Dolly Parton. It shows the innocent nature of children and their ability to be happy even when her poor mother was likely worried sick about whether or not they would be able to eat.
Just so everyone knows, even poor people usually had enough whole material for seating so that they didn’t have use rags. This shows that Dolly Parton’s family wasn’t just poor, they were destitute. Most of us alive today don’t even realize what that kind of poverty looks like.

I belive her humbleness can be attributed to him.

When the Scots and Scot/Irish began coming to this land, (my family arrived in the 1600's)
They began settling in the Appalachian and Smokey Mountains because it reminded them of
the mountains of Scotland. They settled so deep in the mountains and woods of those mountains, they had no contact with the outside world They became totally uneducated, and having to hunt for almost all the food they had.
If you have never read the book "Christy" you should as it it tells the story of the horrors of their lives.
Dolly was born into such a family. A family who had a one room house with many children and in such need that someone sent over some rags and her mama made the only coat Dolly had that year. You just cannot imagine the dire poverty of those mountain people.
Thankfully, my family moved out of those mountains and into a small Tennessee town where my Great Grandfather became a builder and carpenter, supervising the building the major portion of a new college.
Then the jobs ran out there and many of my family moved to Mississippi and Alabama for jobs.
So Dolly went from dire poverty to being worth over 600 million Dollars and of course she instigated the building
Dollywood to help the other families in Sevier County so they could work.

Only one Dolly.. A legend. I still find something new about her 40 years after following her.. This woman is a self made music goddess Apart form there songbook which of course included I Will Always Love You which made her a fortune when Whitney covered it, she also started Dollywood and dot forget produced and bankrolled Buffy The Vampire Slayer and lets not forget financed the covid Vaccine research ! Oh and was nominated for an Oscar for her part in Nine To Five and won one for the song of the same name (the theme song for the movie) An important person in musical history and it speaks volumes to her that she did Glastonbury in her 60s and blew them away and was showered with love by a generation who weren't born when she started out

The coat at the museum is a replica. The original has long been reused for others. Yes she has nails while using her guitar, her nails are also used as an instrument.

Fun fact aside her amazing & long music career she's also Miley Cyrus's real life Godmother not just in the tv-show *Hannah Montana* because she became friend with her parents before Miley was born...She's also a wonderful person who loves to helping people & supported many charity through out her career

Dolly is just one of those voices that is instantly recognizable. And her sweet spirit and talent shine through in all she does. She grew up in the Great Smokey Mtns of Tennessee and they really were that poor. They lived in a one room shack, Mom, Dad and TWELVE children! Her talent is only outshone by her generosity. When fires ravaged the mountains of Tn and NC, she gave a huge amount of money to help the families who lost their homes - gave it directly to them, not through some bloated “charity” that would keep half - and I’m sure others have mentioned her Imagination Library that was organized to honor her Father. She says he never learned to read or write, but was the smartest person she’s ever known. My favorite Dolly story is about her song ‘Always on My Mind’. Elvis heard it and wanted to record it, but his infamously crooked manager Col. Tom Parker wanted the publishing rights too. Well, Dolly was way too smart to sell her rights and refused. And of course, she was right to keep them. Whitney’s version has bought her a lot of wigs.

One of my favorite movies since childhood is still 9 to 5! Dolly did a tremendous job in that one. Also regardless of how it sounds, since my childhood I thought the movie, the best little who’re house in Texas. And you really should try to get to Dollywood one day in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee! I’ve been a few times and it hasn’t gotten old!

Dolly also wrote it & took it to #1 twice on the Country chart. 1st in 1974, which also won a BMI (Songwriters Award) & again in 1982 when she rerecorded it for the movie, Best Little Whorehouse in TX, winning another 2 BMI's & a Grammy nomination for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female. Add Whitney's #1 & Grammys to it & that 1 song has done pretty well.
