She has had so many hits such as "I Will Always Love You", "Yellow Roses", "My Tennessee Mountain Home", "9 To 5", "Here You Come Again" etc. She did a lot of great duets with Kenny Rogers & Porter Wagoner. She also collaborated with Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris & they released a few "Trio" albums.

Whitney let her know that it wasn't her song anymore. So the performance on the Oscar show must've been a big persuasion by Clive Davis.

Well at least one of them because Whitney is also famous for doing what many consider the greatest performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl which was released as a single and a top hit.
