Their version of "signs" is a banger, as well.
I agree their version is awesome
There is so much more to Tesla than Signs. If you haven't already listened to more of their music please do.
@@sistersue2 Oh, I'm familiar with all their stuff.
I love Tesla. They have such an original sound. So underrated as well. My husband's favorite group.
Glad to see you found Tesla. Lead singer is Jeff Keith. Lots of songs to try.
Modern Day Cowboy, Little Suzi, Edison's Medicine, mama's Fool, and their cover of Five Man Electrical Band's song 'Signs'
Im still waiting to hear someone listen to Y&T. They are from the same area and era.
Im 46, and a musician since I was a kid. I'm proud to say that's why my generation is a different kind of people. Alot of us were raised by music. It's a beautiful thing
im 47 and right there with you 100%. We got the best rock of the 70s ,80s, and 90s. Tesla was right there at the top for me personally since i was 13.
I'm 54 and a musician since I was 4 and you aren't lying. Music has saved my life more times than I care to admit. Keep on rocking brother. 🤘😎🎸
I’m an old soul (born in 1993). I was raised with classic rock and old country, I absolutely hate today’s music and refuse to listen to it
Analog era and digital.
"What you give" , "Signs" , "Song and emotion" and "Lazy days and crazy nights". Along with "Love song" were some of my favorites. "Song and emotion" was a tribute song to Steve Clark who was a guitarist for Def leppard and passed away unexpectedly. RIP Steve
Maybe the original (signs)
Five man electric band.
Iam not a fan of Aerosmith at all but I love Tesla! Saw them in concert in 89'Definetly a rabbit hole!!
Love “Lazy Days and Crazy Nights.”
Changes, Modern Day Cowboy, Edisons Medicine too.
Can't agree more with there recommendations!
They sound just as good now, live as they did back then!! The most underrated band of the 80's! And "Modern Day Cowboy" is as hard as it gets! Please check that one out!🤘🤘🤘
Y’all keep bringing back some great memories!
These 80/90s hair band songs like this reminds me of when my wife & I started dating 30 years ago.
We’d listen to these songs on dates and just in general.
Music is a time machine. It can take you back decades to a specific moment.
Thanks for the memories!!
So many memories just riding around and listening to music with my hubby when we were teens. The power ballads were formative.. you aspired to be ride or die. Our song was I Remember You **We had our share of hard time. But that’s the price you pay. And through it all we kept the promise that we made… I Swear You’ll Never Be Lonely**
TESLA !!! Most Underrated Rock Band Of The Genre !!!
Tesla is a band that has a great variety of sounds. If you want to hear their more "hard hitting" sound, try Modern Day Cowboy, Heaven's Trail (No Way Out), or Little Suzi. Would love to hear more Tesla, a somewhat underrated band.
Exactly, I wore out the "Five Man Acoustical Jam" session, soooooooo gooooooood
Most underrated band of all time in my opinion.
@@trod3898 That's a fact....great band.
Another band from the same era that is tragically underrated is Queensryche .... Silent Lucidity, Jet City Woman, Another Rainy Night, they put out a lot of great music and never seem to get their due.
@@scottswenson383 Oh, Queensryche, good band and yes gets overlooked, hate to say it, but I did not like their most popular song....Silent Lucidity, Just me.
I'm so glad that you both really enjoyed Tesla. They're a great band with no bad songs, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your reactions to them.
This song is what we affectionately refer to as a "power ballad". Every 80's hair band had one. It drew in the female fan base so more album sales and concert tickets. Plus, the obvious reasons...lol. Tesla is a great band. More songs to check out:
Modern Day Cowboy
Little Suzi
Paradise (my fave)
Lady Luck
Edison Medicine
Song and Emotion (a tribute song for Def Leppard's Steve Clark)
That'll get you down the rabbit hole!
And " love me" one of my favorite tesla songs.
Hair bands had album obligations to produce a ballad for pretty much every album, as it also ensured mainstream radio play.
Edison’s Medicine is one of my faves!
Tesla's Five Man Acoustical Jam album is a must listen. Every song is pure gold.
Music is great and the hilarious playful banter is excellent.
Oh Lord I'm stuck in Lodi again!
Getting Better
Mother's little helper
I adore Tesla! They're still going strong with four of the five original members, and I've been lucky enough to see them 23 times. Others to check out: "What You Give," "The Way It Is," "Modern Day Cowboy," "Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)", "Little Suzi," "Hang Tough," "Paradise," and "Gettin' Better."
...nice choices....the "Psychotic Supper" album has some gems, as well.
@@alphasonja4966 don't forget Edison's Medicine
I'll add a few more. Edison's Medicine, Freedom Slaves and of course Song & Emotion (a song they wrote to pay homage to the death of Def Leppard's guitarist Steve Clark). Actually, I can listen to all of their first 3 albums from beginning to end. All of those songs are amazing. Def Leppard and Tesla are very good friends and they often tour together.
Troy , the drummer did not tour with them in 2021 but did his own projects
Signs, Freedom Slaves
I am SOOOO stoked to see you finally being introduced to my all time favorite band. I hope you give their whole catalog a listen. Obviously the more on here the better lol. Most of their well known hits are from their 1st 3 studio albums and the live "5 man acoustic jam"...I highly recommend the later albums as well. "Bust a nut" has some awesome songs and I think cover to cover it is my favorite album. I would love to hear/see you react to Shine away, Try so hard or A lot to lose. They also have a double album of covers called Real to reel. Definitely should check it out. Well you all "made someone smile" today when I watched this reaction. Stay blessed, glad to be part of the RSR family.
Back in 85' 0r 86', I was in High School and went to see Def Leppard in concert. The opening band was Tesla. None of us had ever heard of them. It was right at the time their debut album came out and they were still unknowns. They blew the roof off! They were equal to Def Leppard in music and entertainment. I went out the very next day and bought their album.
I saw Tesla open up for David Lee Roth on the “Eat Em and Smile” tour back in 87. Went out and bought “Mechanical Resonance” the next day. They were that good.
I was at that Concert! Changed my life.
The 80's will always be known for great rock songs and equally great ballads. Show me another decade that produce songs like this.
At a time when `rock ballads` were a dime a dozen, this one stood out. Always had great respect for this band in general.
You youngsters finding our old guys music makes me so happy!!
I was 16 in 82...saw all these bands live!! What a glorious time to be a teenager!!!
If you guys liked Tesla, you will definitely enjoy Cinderella...they're a hair band that bangs (get it?) Their album Long Cold Winter is exquisite, I highly recommend "Bad Seamstress Blues" and the song "Long Cold Winter" gets me in the heart every time!
I was thinking the same thing but gypsy road
@@FatSquatch75 Gypsy Road is about as fun as it gets
Definitely Cinderella needs to be on the list. They could do all of Long Cold Winter and not find a bad song. Falling Apart at the Seems is my definition of Blues Rock fusion.
Long Cold Winter is a legendary album.
Bad seamstress blues is my favorite!!!
These guys are fantastic. If you haven’t seen them in concert, you’re missing a gem of a concert.
I saw them here in my/their adopted (Jeff Keith anyway) home town of Sacramento a few months ago and some of the guys brought of their family out on stage. Jeff and his mom were adorable!
Tesla is an absolutely incredible band! You HAVE to go down This rabbit hole. TONS of incredible songs to fall in love with.
And you're right about the solo...one of my all time fave solos.
All of Teslas music is fab! Such an underrated band! 💜
Tesla rocks, enough said!!!
THIS^^^^🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lol.. Right On
Quintessential Rockers
ABSOLUTELY ❤️
So good l can’t find the words to to ??
Non live version is better
So glad you two finally found Tesla! I have loved them since they first came out in late ‘86. Still my favorite band of all time. You two will find a bunch of great songs once you dive down this rabbit hole! Enjoy!!!
I love love love his voice!!!! Tesla does a good version of “Signs” originally done by Five Man Electric Band…
C’mon that’s way better than good.
definitely check out Signs.
I was at the show at the Trocedaro in Philly when they recorded the 5 man Accoustical Jam, which is where they recorded Signs.
@@ronb6152 that was a heck of a show. I still listen to that album.
Frank Hannon is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. The solo in this is a first take recording. He was just working through it to show how it was gonna go and the producer was recording. They just kept that take
Two songs I would recommend from Tesla would be "Modern Day Cowboy" and "What You Give", two different sides of a great band.
What You Give!
I fell in love with Jeff Keith’s voice in 1986 and have been listening ever since! I’m a die hard Tesla fan. Great band, super talented, genuine hard working guys, they love their fans and we love them.
Hang Tough will blow your ears and minds away. Love Song is such a positive message. It’s always makes my eyes tear up thinking about losing my soulmate and thinking about the road ahead.
This band performed in the same place I graduated high school when I saw them in 2008, and gave us about 3 hours of straight music, with very little talking! Loved it! One of the best bands I've seen live!
Fellow Sac resident 🤘🏻
Great Song 🎵 👌 👏
" Signs " is another good one. Originally by The Five Man Electrical Band.
Tesla...from Sacramento...near my home town. Went to the concert that they recorded the video for this song...they played it like 5 times...but still a great show
Yup, was there as well... old "Cal Expo Amphitheatre" on the State Fair Grounds... was an awesome night, and pretty damned incredible how the hometown crowd got "Up" for the video being filmed even though they did play multiple times!
Please do Tesla "What You Give", his voice is so special in it. This gives me serious high school flashbacks.Such good memories.
Great song!!
I get chills every time I hear this song. I got to see this group in concert in Starkville MS back in ‘89. They opened for Cinderella and White Lion. Freaking awesome! First concert ever in my life. I was hooked.
My favorite ballad by Tesla is Goodbye Paradise. Very underrated, but gorgeous!
Amazing underrated band, the acoustic version is one of the best
I fully agree with you!
And they're still kickin A$$!!!
@@shaunfoskey9958 ive seen them 8 times live. Never disappoint
@@1221tesla only got to see them once but what I remember of it ...it was awesome. I took some acid before the show. I remember some really cool parts but most of it was a blur.
Ah, Tesla! Now we're getting somewhere!! So many great songs. Heavens Trail, Song and Emotion, What You Give, The Way It Is, and so many more! And again I will say please do some Queensryche! You will love them!
Tesla wasn't the biggest hair band of the 80s/90s, but they did make their mark. Their other big hit was "Signs", an awesome cover of the song by Five Man Electrical Band. "The Way It Is" is also awesome. Jeff Keith is the lead singer.
Seconding "The Way It is". Great tune !
You're so beautiful, Never Change.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this! Tesla has been my favorite band and Jeff Keith has been my favorite vocalist for many many years! They have amazing energy live as well, and they are some of the most pleasant people you could ever meet. I definitely recommend listening to more!
One of my absolute favorite songs! Try “What you give” by Tesla next ❤️
And I still have the cassette I recorded of me calling the radio station to request it. Lol
Question is, do Jay and Amber even know what a cassette is? LOL
👍👍 great song .. maybe the best
"What You Give" is a great song by Tesla. And I maybe wrong but I think this song is about Jeff Keith's dog. Jeff is the lead singer of Tesla.
FYI, the parts of a basic drum "kit" are, as you said, a snare drum, three thumpier drums called "tom-toms" or just "toms" (high, medium and floor), and the biggest (and lowest, on the floor) the bass drum, played with a foot pedal. Plus, of course, cymbals (usually ride, crash, and high-hats). Of course, drum kits can vary widely, from a simple cymbal + snare setup like Slim Jim Phantom in Stray Cats to Neil Peart's kit in Rush, where he was literally surrounded by drums!
Singer Jeff Keith Didn't even begin singing until he was 24, He was driving Septic /sewage Trucks even after their first album got huge because he said " Maybe we got lucky once, And I didnt want to lose my job" lol
54 year old woman who grew up in this decade and this music was life. All the hair bands. Just epic. It just brought you life!
When you're done checking the studio cuts it SO worth sitting down one day and listening to their "5 Man Acoustical Jam" album straight through. This song hit a second time with that album and the guitar in it is amazing. As soon as my hands began allowing me to at around 15 years old I was learning how to play this, it's a top-tenner for me. Think I'll have to go back and learn the hard parts of that one now, 28 years later I might be able lmao
Love Song on the 5 Man Acoustical Jam album is EPIC!
Yes, yes, and HELL YES!
My favorite band since 1987! I’ve seen them 32 times and am thrilled to see you reacting to them. Try, “Changes,” next from them. Still and always my favorite song ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Gread band and vocalist. They do a great job incorporating acoustic guitar into rock songs. Glad you have discovered these guys. One of my favs from them is a song called little suzy which I think you guys will dig, or a song they did called Signs. Can't go wrong with either one.....
I'm thinking they've reacted to the original "Signs" by 5 Man Electrical Band. But I could be wrong, it may have been someone else.
Tesla is AWESOME!!! "Gettin' Better" is the song you really need to listen. That's my MEGA-inspiration jam.
Love me some Tesla. Late 80's band that stood apart from a lot of the other 80's/hair bands of that time. Great vocals, and great guitar work. Check out their albums "Mechanical Resonance" and "The Great Radio Controversy"
They are way better than the category they got lumped into. Every single one of them is so uniquely talented.
Such an underrated band!! I adore them. This is the song my husband listened to first on our way on our first date. 28 years later he is still mine ;) and we consider this our song
WOW.....you picked one of very favorite bands for the past 30 years....I have seen them at least a dozen times. Troy Luccketta is in my top five favorite drummers of ALL time! He is a MONSTER. He is very into the sound of his drums, and how they look. Changes his set up every tour. He plays amazing little things that drummers pick up. Frank Hannon is an amazing and VERY underrated guitarist. Not only very fast and very creative...but he gets great sounds out his guitars. The whole band are amazing musicians. 'J' is right, the band is named after the famed inventor Nikola Tesla...who was ripped of by Edison. Check out the song "Edisons' Medicine."
Frank Hannon is an amazing guitarist! He can hang with the top dogs. Truly, each member of the band is amazing. It is what is a team effort. Tesla is my ultimate favorite, and my kids love Tesla. In fact, my grandaughter was on video no too long jamming to Tesla.
Edison's medicine is one of the most powerful songs to crank up... but has such a controlled tempo. I have a lot of great memories come back to me when I hear this song!
Intrigue can turn into obsession with the most underrated band that I can think of. They have one of my all time favorites in Jeff Keith on vocals and the rest of the group jammin some of the best guitar work I've ever heard in a rock and roll band.!!
After 32 years, this song still gives me chills and I tear up. Probably my favorite song ever!!
From what I heard, Jeff Keith (lead singer) was born in Texarkana and lived in Idabel Oklahoma until his family moved to Cali. I consider him a home town boy. Great band.
Still touring and putting out new music, my favorite band of all time!
One of the greatest bands you guys have never heard of! So fantastic! Amazing amazing songs! So much talent! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What you Give" is an absolute banger from Tesla, you two are the best out there . Period!
I was there. I'm from Reno, NV. They played there on 4th of July 1989. Firehouse was the opening band. Check them out. Tesla are from Sacramento. They played Love Song twice. Third song in, then, last song. They had to make time to move the cameras. What a great night! I've seen them exactly 20 times. I've met them all. Down to Earth people. No rock star egos. They kick ass live!!!! I love your reactions!
Wow - you guys dug up another hidden gem. Haven't heard this song in ages. Thanks for the memories :)
One of my favorites that I still listen to. My teenage years! "What You Give" is another one that I love from Tesla.
Tesla debuted in 1986 with the album "Mechanical Resonance." It was one of the most influential hard rock albums of the 80s. Lots of good songs on it. Tesla had their own sound. The vocalist was a truck driver when he wasn't doing the band thing.
They were one of the few bands at the time, especially hair bands, to feature acoustic guitars prominently. And you simply did not hear acoustic guitars on the radio in 1986 until Tesla came along.
@@jonathangeraldrobinson720 I never considered them a hair band. You never saw them with 'makeup' or glitter on.
That look on a couple's face when they find Tesla, the band, for the first time = Priceless!!!
thanks, guys!
First Tesla song I ever heard was modern day cowboy on MTV when the played videos and I was hooked on them. They are my favorite band from the 80's. I always loved Jeff Keith's voice and the rest of the band rocks as well. You do need to go down that rabbit hole with this band Trust me.
Tesla is so underrated! This is one of my all time favorite songs, ever. And I noticed you closed your eyes for the solo... I love that so much!
Such a good yet somehow too-often-forgotten band. This song has a way of hitting me in the heart like a hammer every time.
My mom is a big Tesla fan and whenever one of us hears this song playing we have to text each other a snippet of the song and it always brightens each other's day. Also because we live several hundred miles apart
Welcome to Tesla! Both the car and the band were named after the inventor, but Tesla the band was ~20+ years before the car. I live where they are from (Sacramento) and just caught them a week ago in a concert - yeah, still great!
For another good yet completely different "Love Song", try The Cure's "Love Song" (not a cover) and "Friday I'm in Love" for another rabbit hole.
Grew up in Sactown during their heyday. Moved to north Idaho last year and lo and behold they came to town and of course I had to go... they're still awesome! Lots of fond memories seeing them back in the day and some new ones from a couple weeks ago!
Huge Tesla fan, and this is absolutely my favorite power ballad. Also a huge Black Crowes fan and I’ve always likened Tesla to The Black Crowes for some reason. Tesla leaning more toward a hard rock sound obviously. I think they unfairly got lumped in with 80s hair metal and didn’t get a lot of recognition. Check out “Little Suzi”, “Changes”, “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out)”, “The Way It Is” and “What You Give”.
This is one of my favorite groups, even touring today they are still great. Check out "Song and Emotion" by Tesla. You might cry, it was written as a tribute to Steamin' Steve Clark the original lead guitarist of Def Leppard. Vivian Campbell has taken his place, but this song has guitar riffs played by Clark before his death. The original is 8 minutes long.
Finally!! This is one of my favorite bands. I've seen them live 5 times. They are AMAZING. You gotta check What You Give, Song and Emotion (A tribute written about Steve Clarke of Def Leppard right after he died), and a hidden gem called Stir It Up.
I love Stir It Up. I just love Tesla so much!!
Shalom! Thank you for reacting to TESLA!!!! I am 54, I been listening to them since the 80s. Please react to WHAT YOU GIVE!!!
It is a "Power Balad"
Every band back in the late 80's early 90's had at least 1.
They need to do More Than Words by Extreme. Probably the king of power ballads.
I actually bought the power ballads cassettes that they had for sale 🤣🤣
@@LiberalsArePoop
That's good choice. I haven't heard that one in a while.
Great reaction guys. The video version cuts out a great acoustic guitar intro unfortunately. I hope you get to hear the full version one day. It is beautiful. The song "What You Give" by Tesla also is a must listen (It has a wonderful message)
Agreed. The intro is a classic style harmony on two guitars that is amazing.
Classical guitar intro on the full version of this song is epic
You have to check out “what you give” and “signs” by Tesla!!!!
What you give!!!!!! I agree its tremendous
Ohh wow I just discovered ur channel today , but damn im in love 🥰 Ur reacting too all my fav 80s songs / bands ! Tesla is such an awesome band , unfortunately never made it big in my country ( DK ) but i frekin love them
They sound exactly the same today and still rock out. Love them and have seen them several times live. They have so many great songs. Modern Day Cowboy is considered their signature song as well as Signs
Love Tesla. Great band. Great live band. I have all of their albums and there's not one song I skip. They never broke up. Continued making music whether it was popular or not. They can rock, do ballads, go acoustic and cover any classic band, which they did -- 2 albums of cover songs.
I was in my 30's when this song came out. Never heard of Tesla but great song and voice. I was raising my kids who were born in 69 (daughter) and 76 (son) I became a grandmother at 37. My daughter was 19, got married at 18. Unfortunately her husband was killed when my granddaughter was only 2. Love you guys and the memories you bring to old folks like me. Lol (71)
I love watching your reactions to some of my favorite songs. It reminds me of when I first heard these songs in the 90's and was blown away and began my own singing and guitar playing journey!
Great song! Loved Tesla back in the day, they had a lot of great songs! Timeless song, Still good today
The Mrs here..Tesla is a truly talented band..And one of the best hair to grunge crossover bands ever..My husband and I were fortunate enough to see them a few years ago at House of Blues..Myrtle Beach SC..It's one of his very favorite concerts...And we've been to hundreds..!! Love Your Channel!!
More Tesla reactions plz!!!! Here are a few suggestions for you....
1: What You Give (Full Version)
2: Heavens Trail
3: Little Suzi
4: We're No Good Together
5: Modern Day Cowboy
6: Comin' Atcha Live
7: Love Me
Such a sentimental song to me. When my first teenage romance ended, another female friend (platonic relationship) wrote me a letter and included the lyrics to this song. I went out and bought the cassette single and played it over and over. This song is my personal experience with the healing power of music.
Anything from “Mechanical Resonance” is fantastic. Takes me back to sitting on the hood of my car with my girlfriend in 87 looking at the stars and “talking” all night.
Tesla named themselves after the inventor, not the car. They have a lot of great songs and I hope you guys do more videos for them, including "Modern Day Cowboy" and "Little Suzie"
PLEASE GIVE US SOME JOURNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONE OF THE BEST BANDS OF THE 80'S AND THE VOCALS OF STEVE PERRY ARE AMAZING!!!!
Oh ya... Stone in love by Journey is a good one to start with!
Yes please
Huge Tesla fan here. I just saw them a couple weeks ago and they still sound damn near perfect live. You really can't go wrong down this rabbit hole. I look forward to going on that journey with your guys
"Edison's Medicine" and "Modern Day Cowboy" are some other pretty good Tesla songs.
2 great suggestions
Yes!!
Omg thank you for reacting to this song ❤❤❤❤ I absolutely love them !!! I seen them live few years ago they were amazing .
I adore your channel ❤. Keep doing what you do . God bless you are your beautiful family .
Nikola Tesla was mostly famous for his pioneering work in high voltage electric systems.
Naming your rock band after him is Epic.
Loved these guys since the first time I saw them back in the 80's.
Rich the Ancient Metal Beast
Paradise and What You Give are two songs you definitely need to check out. Thanks for getting into Tesla. Jeff Keith's voice is massive!
I literally laughed out loud at the Steve Tyler exchange. You two have been an absolute gem to take this journey on with. Cheers!
Absolutely, without a doubt, probably one of my top 8 favorite bands ever.
Turn music, it's time list, they're music is amazing. They're lyrics are awesome. True musicians throughout the band.
Their live shows never disappoint
What you give and little Suzie are other songs by this band you might enjoy. Keep rocking!!!
These guys were amazing live! Absolutely amazing! Lead guitarist had instruments lined up for broken strings. Shout 1990 tour!
I would love to hear you guys react to “Call Me Al” by Paul Simon. It has the best bass guitar riff ever, and yes it has horns too
Also one of the best videos. Still cracks me up
Large truth
YES! Finally! I requested this a long time ago! So happy you'll now discover Tesla! My 2nd fave band after Def Leppard. xoxo
If you want to rock out to Tesla, listen to MODERN DAY COWBOY, Rob'll go nuts
100%
Great reaction, great band and a GREAT SONG! I love Tesla! One thing you may not know about this video is that back in the 1980's a teenage girl ran away from home and her parents happened to see this video and saw her in the audience. They were able to contact the record company and find where it was filmed... and because of this they were reunited with their daughter.
Love Tesla. Went and saw them when I was in high school. They opened for Def Leppard. You should do the song "Signs" by Tesla. It is a cover, but they do a great job with it.
An often forgotten classic. So glad you gave this a listen.
In fact this is like video 3 or 4 in a row of "songs I ran my jr. high game to."
Ah, that excitement and rush of being in 8th grade and seeing someone across the room at a dance that feels the same about you as you do them. Everything translated in just a 5 or 10 second look.
You don't experience anything quite like that time is over...
Another great band and song! 🧡🙏
