Fell in love with my co-worker in 1995. She had a steady boyfriend, but we would have coffee together every morning at work. When I heard they'd broken up in 1996, I put a cassette of this song in her mailbox. Married her in 1999. Still together 25 years later. Powerful song.

Lead singer Eric Martin wrote this song years before Mr. Big was formed, when he was still in HS. Mr. Big was a "supergroup" composed of musicians who each already had a rep. For example... Guitarist Paul Gilbert was from Racer X. Bassist Billy Sheehan was a freakishly amazing virtuoso -- known for playing his bass using Van Halen style techniques.
One of my all time favorite bands, Pat Torpey (R.I.P.) is in my TOP 5 list of favorite drummers. A MONSTER!!! This was called a "Super Group". Where each musician is a famous player from another band, or a badass musician in their own right. This still goes on in Rock and some amazing sounds have come out of these bands. Eric Martin has an AMAZING voice...very soulful. Billy Sheehan (Talas, David Lee Roth, Winery Dogs) ...is like the Eddie Van Halen on bass...but his own style...Paul Gilbert is unreal. They ALL sing too. Most of their music is heavy-funky-Fat vocals...this song was written by Eric and didn't want to show the band...but they LOVED it! It to this date is their biggest hit. Next song? One of the most underrated bands of the lates 80s-early 90s. Got lost in the wash of the end of hair metal and onset of grunge. 4 absolute great musicians. Also 4 great guys who had a lot of fun. RIP Pat.
I was a junior in high school when this came out. It's one of my favorite songs to this day. And yes the hair carried over into the 90's. This along with More Than Words by Extreme were incredible hits and staples of the decade.
One of my favorite bands *Mr Big* definitely has versatility. A song that comes to mind from them is *Green Tinted Sixties Mind* a song that I know *Amber* would dig and *Jay* I think you would dig *Just Take My Heart.* And a list of some of their other great tunes *; Daddy Brother Little Boy, Wind Me Up, Addicted To That Rush, Alive And Kickin', * and *Shine.* Oh The lead singer's name is *Eric Martin* great vocalist. *Love ❤️ Peace ☮️ and Happiness 😃 Y'all !!*
In the late 80's early 90's the rise of MTV's Unplugged series influenced bands to start doing acoustic songs and releasing them as singles. You should check out Extreme "More than Words", Guns n Roses " Patience", Tesla "Love Song" (Five Man Acoustical Band) live version; and Lastly Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora doing "Wanted Dead or Alive" live from the 1989 MTV Music Video Awards which inspired MTV to create the Unplugged series to start with.
I absolutely LOVE "Patience" by Guns 'n Roses; one of the first things I wanted to learn on guitar. "Love Song" (Tesla) and "Wanted Dead or Alive" are outstanding also...
I adore Mr. Big! Eric Martin's voice is dreamy isn't it? Thank you for this awesome reaction! Hearing them sing this live is a treat too! I highly recommend you finding a live version to listen to. RIP drummer Pat Torpey (playing tambourine) who passed away a few years back. Mr. Big has some great songs and definitely worth a deeper dive into their catalog! "Take Cover," "Alive and Kickin'," and "Just take my Heart" are just to name a few. Give them a try!
@@sputnikalgrim That is a good one too. I just really like the video from Don't Treat Me Bad. It is quintesential 80's hair band video , girls , flames etc I Love it.

Excellent reaction 😍 Another great song that shaped some of our souls. Since you've gotten this far, next on the list can't be anything but Extreme, More Than Words.
Love this song. It is the perfect representation of two lost souls finding each other. Just the line, "You can make my life worthwhile, I can make you start to smile." That says it all.
It’s hard to describe how good Mr. BIG was. They’re one of the unique rock band ever, good voices, virtuoso at their instruments, weird chord progression (for a rock band), underrated drummer, underrated vocalist, they have some of the best ballad songs, etc. One of the best band on planet for sure
@@JWCFB ahhh yes he did say that but he has liked some before and he likes songs with orchestral stuff so there is a chance he would like this and we can continue to have hope and excitement on this thread 😀
“More than Words” by Extreme should be next please…came out in a similar time period…my first boyfriend requested it for me on the radio…it was special then, and I think you’ll love it now! ❤️ PS. I LOVE the song by Mr. Big…I was a teenage in the 90’s - this song was everything.
Yes! Me too! I wish they had more popular music but I feel like bands like Mr. Big, Extreme, and Queensrÿche suffered from timing since the music of theirs we are familiar with came out right when grunge hit the scene. And we all know how that took over. I’m so glad I hit my teens when the 90s began though. Best decade to be a teenager, in my totally biased opinion 😊
Love this song. Your next hair band reaction should be ‘Heaven’ by Warrant. I’ve noticed that you’ve never reacted to Collective Soul. If you check them out ‘Shine,’ ‘December,’ ‘The World I Know,’ ‘Heavy,’ ‘Gel’ or ‘Wasting Time’ would be good ones to listen to.
Mr Big is a Group of Virtuoso.. legit voice of Eric, Slamming Bass of Billy, Legendary guitar play by Paul and Crunchy Drum play by Pat.. catch em on their final tour end of this year and next year in EU and US.. you'll never regret it..
I'm glad you two heard this song. It's soft yet powerful, especially when you hear the lyrics. It came out in '91, and to this day, it's one of the greatest anthems for us guys who are always friendzoned and have to watch the loves of our life wade through life with these guys that treat them like crap. Yet we stand by their side as their friend, truly caring and loving them, hoping that one day, we will be the next to be with them, and they will realize we were meant for them all along.
From the same era, you should listen to Silent Lucidity by Queensryche, More Than Words by Extreme, or Don't Know What You Got by Cinderella (Tom Keifer has one of the best raspy voices).
Silent lucidity is a great song but from the early 90s. Grew up with all the 80s glam and was so grateful for the Seattle grunge Era to do away with the glam
So many great hair bands in the 80's that were amazing live and could sing. They did it live, did it real and were genuine. Mr. Big and so many others had talent under all that glam and hair spray. Someone below mentioned the band EXTREME. Definitely a band to check out - "more than words"
Goosebumps all the time when I listen or play this song on guitar... They are an iconic Melodic Hard Rock band, with the outstanding vocalist and also super talented Paul Gilbert on guitar and fabulos Billy Sheehan on bass...
Goin' Where the Wind Blows, is another acoustic song with great vocals and harmonies to go along with another guitar solo. Amber is going to melt with this one too !
Yes! This song and Extreme's "More than Words" are both awesome! More than Words is done by just the two front guys with the band hanging out listening. Really cool. I recommend the official video.
The guitarist Paul Gilbert is amongst the absolute best to ever play. Also the bass player Billy Sheehan is one of the very best. This song obviously does not showcase those virtuoso skills though.
Yeah yeah! I love this band, MR. BIG is awesome! I also fell in love with Eric's voice from the first time I heard this song. ❤ Thank u so much for this reaction. ❤❤❤
I have been a huge Eric Martin fan since hearing the Eric Martin Band in the 80’s. The opened for all the rock acts that came through San Francisco (Sammy Hagar, Night Ranger). They had two songs that got some radio play (Don’t Stop and Sucker for a Pretty Face) I think Amber would love Ten Feet Tall as well. The band broke up before they could record a second album. Eric did a few solo albums that showcased his voice but didn’t amount to much. Listen to Confess, These Are The Good Times, Just One Night. Then Mr. Big got together. To Be With You was a song Eric had been toying with for a while. He also did a band called TMG. Great rock album. I feel like you could pick anything he sings on and couldn’t go wrong. I actually met him at a Best Buy while I was working there. He came in looking for a Harry Potter movie. After he asked if I could help him I said your Eric Martin! I’d be happy to help you! Nicest guy.
Mr Big is one of those rock bands that was popular in the early 90s in that era between hair bands and grunge. The bands Extreme and their song More Than Words, Queensryche with the song Silent Lucidity, and Nelson with After the Rain and (I Can’t Live Without Your) Love & Affection we’re also big during this time. All of them are worth a listen.
Mr. Big was very popular in Japan in the early 90s - and I was actually pen pals with a Japanese girl during that time (I was 12, she was 15) and she talked about her love of Mr. Big in every letter she wrote to me! I remember getting into this song because it was also on the radio a lot here in the U.S., but I never got into the band other than that.
Hair band metal ballads were the best! They knew how to make us big haired girls cry! You definitely need to dive into these! Extreme “More Than Words”, Warrant “Heaven”, Cinderella “Don’t Know What You’ve Got Til It’s Gone” are a few I love, but there are tons! 🥰
Absolutley love y'all reactions. Y'all are my favorite couple reactors. Another band and song that I really think y'all will LOVE is by a band called Extreme and the song is called, More than Words. Since you guys really loved this song I think y'all will love this one. I hope to see y'all react to it soon. Be blessed 💞
Great song, I remember when this played on the radio the Dj would make a joke on the last few bars. Because it fades and he would.say oops sorry about that on the last note.
Fantastic band. Eric Martin has a great voice and was highly praised before joining Mr. Big. I loved their music. Green Tinted Sixties Mind, Just Take My Heart, Wild World.
Paul Gilbert is one of the most underrated guitar players in the business, his skill is right up there with Alex Lifeson of Rush. Paul Gilbert also leads a rock band called Racer X that's big in Japan.
I wouldn't say underrated at all, Paul was called the lock nut monster and more from the school of players like Yngwie Malmsteen and although legendary Alex cannot play like those guys.
People who know guitar do not underrate Paul, he's at the top of the top. I do agree that he is not as much of a household name as other players in the same talent tier (EVH, SRV, Jimi, etc.).
His replacement, Richie Kotzen is also a great guitarist and singer. He's got a voice, like Chris Cornell. His solo stuff is good, as well as his stuff with Adrian Smith.
Love your reactions. They're definitely a heavy metal/hard rock band. I own the album on cassette tape. And when this song hit it just took them to another level b/c we definitely did not expect this!
“Alive and kickin” an unbelievable good rock n roll so g by Mr. Big. They are considered a “supergroup “. All members were already successful elsewhere.
Fun fact about this song: the lead singer wrote it as a teenager about an older girl he had a crush on. How precious is that?

Next song? "Addicted To That Rush"...first song, first album.
Supergroup lol. Thanks for the hard laugh. Billy is a great bassist.
@@dranderson6071 and paul gilbert is one of the best guitarists, though not "famously" known to be the best but all of the great guitarists would label him one
This was a great reaction video! Good job!
The lead singer has a fantastic voice!
Eric Martin's voice is the Bomb!!! This song never gets old!!! Love Love Love Mr. Big!!
I highly recommend the album "TMG" (Tak Matsumoto Group), where Eric does lead vocals.
@@Ripplin YES!!! EM is my tied for fave singer ever with Perry so I am well versed in his solo and other work, LOVE that record.
I love her true reaction
You could pick ANY song off their first two albums and have a hit. Their live show was amazing.
Yes..Daddy, brother, little boy...otherwise known as the electric drill song, lol. They definitely need to check that song out!
All of these are great suggestions, but I think Green Tinted Sixties Mind is the one to go with!
I really enjoyed that era
I adore Mr.
I'm biased cuz I was there front row, but the Live in San Franciso version is my fave
I always thought Eric was one of the best. Loved that raspy tone in his voice yet its so smooth. One of my faves.
Her reaction was priceless lmao. Awesome review of a great song.
Another great mid to late 80's hair band was Firehouse "Don't Treat Me Bad" - Love it!
Love of a lifetime… my first… well ya know
Yes don't treat me bad is a good song however this song is lame. Be with you is lame.
@@sputnikalgrim they already reacted to Love of a lifetime.
Also Firehouse Love of a Lifetime
@@sputnikalgrim That is a good one too. I just really like the video from Don't Treat Me Bad. It is quintesential 80's hair band video , girls , flames etc I Love it.
This was the very last of the hairmetal era. Early 92 was already pushing it LOL. That being said, it went out with a bang cause this was huge
His vocals, 💜 that was and will always be a beautiful love song..
You'll be blown away when listening their heavy song.
I LOOOOOOVE his voice. I can listen to this song over and over again. I wish Mr. Big had gotten more attention during the wild big hair band days. They were one of the best bands out there.l
Loved these guys!!
I wish I could go back in time and hear this song new, too. Love her reaction.
🤟🏼💕🎶Love this song!🎶. Now it’s time to do Queensryche’s ballad. “Silent Lucidity”. 🎸🎶
Yeah go down the Queensryche hole
Heck yeah!
Jordan said he ain't in to slow songs.
Extreme was an awesome band that is largely forgotten.
THIS!!!!
Do this one next.....it's even better. 😁
Love that song
They recently did that song.
OMG, I love this song. So underrated! I'm ecstatic that you loved it.
The harmonies on this track are EVERYTHING. So tight.
Don't let this song fool you. These boys can ROCK!!!
GREAT SONG! Another great one from around this time with a similar vibe: MORE THAN WORDS by Extreme.
I keep coming back to this reaction because how surprised you both were from the beginning. Lol
Love this
I'm glad you two heard this song.
Yes! I’m so glad someone else asked for “Silent Lucidity.”
Heartbreak Station by Cinderella too
Silent lucidity is a great song but from the early 90s. Grew up with all the 80s glam and was so grateful for the Seattle grunge Era to do away with the glam
@@ill4mz54 Don'tKnow What You Got came out in 1988, but Silent Lucidity and More Than Words came out in 1990, and To Be With You in 1990.
So many great hair bands in the 80's that were amazing live and could sing. They did it live, did it real and were genuine. Mr. Big and so many others had talent under all that glam and hair spray. Someone below mentioned the band EXTREME. Definitely a band to check out - "more than words"
What a great tune! Reminds of a girl I had a thing for
Seeing younger generations loving the songs we grew up to 🩷🩷🩷
Goosebumps all the time when I listen or play this song on guitar... They are an iconic Melodic Hard Rock band, with the outstanding vocalist and also super talented Paul Gilbert on guitar and fabulos Billy Sheehan on bass...
This song still hits and is still in rotation on my playlist 💯🔥🔥🔥
Goin' Where the Wind Blows, is another acoustic song with great vocals and harmonies to go along with another guitar solo. Amber is going to melt with this one too !
Love that song!
This!
This is my teenage years in one beautiful masterful song. I still love it as much as I did at 18 xx
I've watched this reaction several times. I love it!! Mr. Big was amazing!
Both monster players, that is for sure...
Paul Gilbert was one of Buckethead's teachers.
Sheehan is Def in the conversation for best ever.
@@markspinello5015 You could put Mr Big into the "Super Group" Category because of those 2 Cats
One song that shows the virtuoso skills is Colorado Bulldog by Mr Big. Paul, Billy and Pat (RIP) were amazing together.
Yeah yeah! I love this band, MR. BIG is awesome! I also fell in love with Eric's voice from the first time I heard this song. ❤ Thank u so much for this reaction. ❤❤❤
The guitarist (Paul Gilbert) and the bass player (Billy Sheehan) are criminally underrated.
Perfect Song. Perfect. Thank you. I Fell in Love with Them Once Again.
Always loved this song and I love watching younger people discovering and enjoying/appreciating good, older music.
Totally agree with everyone below! Listen to "More than Words"! Amazing song if you like harmonies and soulful takes on music!! Great song!
I am so glad you guys loved this. I don’t recall any other hits, but, this was a lightning strike. So good.
That whole album was good back then just take my heart also was a big hit
One of the BEST songs of my youth.
Love it so much.
Back in a time..when there was a sense of humor in music videos.. too.
Such a feel good song and Eric Martins voice is AMAZING ❤
Nicest guy.
"Just Take My Heart When You Go" is another by Mr Big you will like. They are an awesome band. They did a remake of "Wild World" that is great also.
Grew up in the 80s hair band era... They are soooo underrated!!
Should do Damn Yankees "High Enough", talk about some harmony, and some rock... Y'all would love it!
80s supergroup! Yes! ❤
Yes!!!
Awesome song but my favorite is Come Again.
High Enough! Damn Yankees...YES!!!
Shaw and Blades together is a dream come true
My husband is 53 an I'm 31 and this was the first love song he ever sent me. It's our wedding song also! I listen to it every single day
Great song, I remember when this played on the radio the Dj would make a joke on the last few bars.
Omg. Don't be foolish
My first concert was Mr. Big opening for Rush in 1991 I think. Baltimore Arena!
Love your reactions. They're definitely a heavy metal/hard rock band. I own the album on cassette tape. And when this song hit it just took them to another level b/c we definitely did not expect this!
Your reaction to this song..is perfection!. Thank you.
Green Tinted Sixties Mind - Mr. Big. Another one of their best.
“Alive and kickin” an unbelievable good rock n roll so g by Mr. Big. They are considered a “supergroup “. All members were already successful elsewhere.
