Vito Bratta, one of the most underrated guitar players of ALL time. And yes- his solos can bring tears to your eyes.
From a RUclips or VH1 show Vito can't play without pain in his hands, almost like electrical shock in his hands. He dontvplay much anymore and doesn't have a great relationship with Mike Teamp either.
My favorite Hair metal player, Vito is a very musical guy, and the only reason I liked White Lion. His solos were killer. Vito now lives with his mother in Staten Island, and enjoys time out of the limelight, with little interest in performing...too bad, I miss him, he was the best of the genre
Agreed. Vito is criminally underrated and has a unique style. He's one of the few guitarists that you can identify just by hearing him play.
I went to see them when they were on tour with Vixen and Ozzy, needless to say, it was a great concert 💯
Vito is no doubt a highly gifted guitar player but it was painful to see the guy leaving the arena to help his ailing parents. Although I support his cause wholeheartedly but man! What a loss ! You no longer hear him playing awesome melodious solos and shredding at the same time. Dear Jay ! I will strongly recommend you to listen to White lions’s song “Love Don’t Come Easy”. A mind blowing solo that will move you for sure ! Please try that some other day!
This song was tough to handle when I was a teenager; it's harder now as an adult because I understand so much more. Their song "Wait" is a much happier song so give that a listen.
With a fantastic solo by Vito Bratta..
Wait was good but I liked Tell Me more.
@Joe Cool Little Fighter was good, but like I said my favorite White Lion song is Tell Me.
Some of Vito's best solos are in the songs "Don't Give Up", "Sweet Little Lovin", "Wait", "Lady Of The Valley", "Goin Home Tonight", "Little Fighter", "Don't Say It's Over", "Livin On The Edge", "Tell Me", "Warsong", "Lights and Thunder" and "Love Don't Come Easy".
@@JoeR203 Lady of the valley is a great song.
I feel so lucky to have grown up on this music
Its great to see new generations discovering this fantastic music
Absolutely
This band is criminally underated. Period.
100% agree!
Sad, but true.
Especially the lead guitarists Vitto, he was an absolute monster but retired for health reasons
its criminally Horrible
They were absolute favorite of all bands because of Pride and Big Game
Their biggest hit from 1988. Stands the test of time, it's still relevant today. Mike Tramp is the lead singer.
Others to try: Little Fighter, Wait, and their cover of Golden Earring's Radar love.
Wait is the big one. Hit the secret gem truly I think is Lady of the Valley. It is something extra special.
@@Stuman57 Wait topped out at #8, When the Children Cry went to #3.(in the USA)
I concur with Lady of the Valley, great song.
My band played Wait. Fun song from a good 80's hair band.
Wait brings back bitter sweet memories for me 😔
Loved the cover of Radar love!
As sad as this song seems, I see it as a song of hope and prayer for unity for our babies and their babies.
Me too.💜 "Under God" is the key phrase..missing in thinking and beliefs today
Agreed.
I fell in love with this when it came out in the eighties. The lyrics are tear jerking. Dig up ya'll!
This song always makes me cry. With all the idiocy happening right now as we speak, we need to make sure that the kids won't continue to grow up in such a horrible existence. Its definitely up to the adults to bring us back to normalcy for their sake. This song is one of their best.
I haven't heard this song in years. I got chills.
It has lost nothing over the years. Still a very powerful and heartfelt song. Beautifully done.
The days of Italian Virtuoso Guitarists......John Petrucci, Vito Bratta, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Tony Iommi.....I miss that stuff. This song always brings a tear.....
This song made me cry back then. Even more today with the way the world is. Thank you!! I'm crying with you Amber!!
This song came out when I was in High School.. haven’t heard it in years! It still gets me! Such an emotional song!
This one and “Wait” were their two big top-ten hits. They also did a really good cover of Golden Earring’s “Radar Love”, the original of which Jay reacted to by himself early on.
"Tell Me" was popular too. I love their cover of "Radar Love"
@@scottcampbell5605 Little Fighter was also a great song
this song was beautiful back in 1987 when i was 14 and is still beautiful now that im 50
I know what you mean. It's crazy how quickly time goes by. A blink of an eye, it seems, upon looking back.
I was 21 when this came out.
Me too …I honestly miss the 80s just a much simpler time.
We're in the same era; I was in the 10th, 11th grade when I first heard of WL. I started playing guitar then and I had to learned this song; it took me a while but I also learned the guitar solo. It's simple yet a bit complicated. There's so much feelings into it than just playing the notes. Vito Bratta, the lead guitar had such brilliant phrasing in his solos. He was so underrated and today still one of my favorite guitar players in my generation.
I was 15 when this song was released first time... 80s just the best time for the best music...
I feel blessed to have been born in 1953, caught the best of the late 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s the true golden age of music. Baby boomers were truly lucky to have been old enough to experience these eras. Peace
Right with you there, born in 1952. 👍✌️🎶🎸💕🇨🇦
My dad was born '54 and raised me on the music of those years (except for 80's which I literally grew up with). He used to play Cat Stevens, James Taylor, and Neil Young on the guitar. Good memories.
This song is 37 years old, And its more relevant now as it was back in 1987.
Yes! Now you have to find the live version of “Lady of the Valley.” It’s one of Vito Bratta’s best performances.
White Lion and Cinderella are my favorite bands of the late 80's. "WAIT" is another good song by White Lion. 2 great songs by CINDERELLA to do are "COMING HOME", and "THROUGH THE RAIN"
Love Coming Home
Both such good bands. I loved Power Ballads…not gonna lie…lol
I love all their songs. They were very underrated.
Saw them in concert with Cinderella. White Lion was amazing! So was Cinderella!
This one always makes me cry. Its so true. Many more in their catalog too.
After all the years , this song still gives me chills
Little Fighter, Wait, Til Death Do Us Part, and You’re All I Need are all a must listen
You're All I Need is one of the best ballads ever!!!
Vocalist Mike Tramp aka Michael Trempenau were originally in Danish pop band Mabel. The won the Danish Song Contest back in 1978 with Boom Boom. They moved to Spain and started playing heavy rock under the name Studs. They released one self titled album in 1981. Later moved to New York and recorded some demos as The Danish Lions in 1982. When the three other members returned to Denmark Mike Tramp decided to stay and formed White Lion with guitarist Vito Bratta. Drummer Greg D'Angelo started out in Anthrax and bass player James LoMenzo are a member of Megadeth these days. Tramp later recorded two albums with a band called Freak Of Nature. I have seen them two times. They were much more heavy and harder than White Lion. These days he doing his own thing under his own name
Oh gosh I love this song! White Lion was great and this song is so touching and wonderful!
That's one of our favorite things about you, Amber, you're ever hopeful. We hope for you, for your beautiful family, and for the whole world that you are right. From one hippie to another.
Aww I love White Lion. Check out their other hits "Tell Me" , "Wait", and their version of "Radar Love".
The song Wait is their biggest hit, and one you should check out! They have plenty "bangers". Little Fighter, Broken Heart, Hungry for a few more. The guitarist Vito Bratta is an absolute shredder with some amazing licks and solos!
I love Broken Heart (I like the original from '85 more than the '91 version)
@@cjpew I like the '91 version, think I'll go listen to it now.
This is one of the most touching songs in my lifetime. Love the guitars are fantastic in this.
White Lion were one of the bands "killed by grunge" in the early 90s, but their fourth and last album, "Mane attraction", released in 1991, is still their masterpiece and one of the greatest albums of the era. Stellar melodic hard rock with more than a hint of Thin Lizzy. White Lion's biggest hits, "Wait" and "When the children cry", can be found on their second album, "Pride" from 1987, that originally flopped but eventually reached double platinum after those songs became belated major hits.
Fun fact: the band as such is American, but lead singer Mike Tramp is actually Danish and have even relased a solo album in his native Danish (another one's under production.
Fun fact 2: of all former White Lion members, the one boasting the most glorious career is bassist James LoMenzo. His curriculum vitae is so crazily eclectic that it not only encompasses David Lee Roth and even John Fogerty of CCR fame, but also Megadeth - who he recently rejoined.
So you guys know I’m in my early 50’s. I bought this album back in the day as soon as it came out. I still have it. The record. LP. The whole thing is good! Also. When Jay grabbed his elbow with goosebumps. I did too. Like the exact same time. That’s how you know you get it.
I have been listening to this song since the eighty's, every time I hear it, I cry, because it's so true, and I am so so sorry for what we've done to this world. Everything that is going on, I just had twin niece and nephew born and I look at them, hoping that they will have a better life. I pray that every day they are mixed. My nephew is white, his wife is black, but these are the most beautiful babies I have ever seen in my life. And I just hope they have a wonderful life.❤❤
You guys are one of literally a few that have reacted to this song!
This song is absolutely amazing!
They are a great band!
Suggestions are
Little Fighter
Broken Home
War Song
Wait
Wait next!
@@BenJune09 Hungry
Little Fighter, Wait, Love Don’t Come Easy, Tell Me, Hungry…all bangers from a group of very talented musicians! Quite underrated in the 80s
Wow! Look at the little GEM that you guys dug up. I haven't heard this in AGES - but could still sing along to every word. That's what I LOVE about your channel. You NEVER know what you're going to hear every night. You guys can do ANY song, from any year, and ANY genre.
In 2023 This song makes total sense.Loved White Lion Since When Pride Came Out Which Is A Classic.Vito Is A Legend And The Band Was Just Awesome. Some Bag On This Tune But It's A Beautiful Song. These Guy's Can Totally Rock Too Btw.Don't Let The Ballad Fool Ya Lol..
It's about time you check out these underrated musicians. Vito is top notch. I seen them in concert back in the day and when this song started the whole arena started singing this song together. Talk about chills down your spine.
Wow. That is Mike Tramp. He is from Denmark, like me. Real name Michael Trampenau. He started out in the danish boy band called Mabel. They where a huge succes in Denmark in the 70’s. In 1978 they competed in the Eurovision song contest with a song called Boom Boom. And after that Mike moved to the US and formed White Lion. White Lion was never very popular here. I guess people could not get used to see him as a heavy rocker. Now he is back in Denmark, where he holds lectures about his career and give small solo concerts. He s a very nice and funny man.
I love Vito Bratta's solo in this song. He actually has many great solos. I'm gonna go back and listen to "Wait" by them. I haven't heard it in years. Think I'll check out "Little Fighter" as well. I always loved the riff in that one.
"WAIT" is my other favorite from White Lion!
It's a joy to watch your reactions to the songs I grew up with. It feels a bit like hearing them for the first time.
One of my favorites and the most underrated bands of the 80's early 90's. Do Wait, Love Don,t Come easy and their cover pf Radar Love to start
So glad y'all did this song. White Lion is a 80s underrated band. Hope you listen to "Wait", "Little Fighter", "Lady of the Valley" "Radar Love" and "Farewell to You"
Hello from northeast Ohio. As a Gen X'er, White Lion was a band I listened to for years in my teens and twenty's. If you liked this, you should hear the concert version they did in 1988 at the ritz club in New York. Type the following words into the RUclips search field: "White Lion - When the Children Cry - 5/5/1988 - Ritz"
One of the best songs ever created and preformed!
If you guys haven’t done it “Runaway Train,” by soul Asylum is another good 90s song.
Would also recommend “child in time” live ‘70 preferably but the music video is also good and “when a blind man cries” live version where Ian Gillan name comes up on screen. Both deep purple band that did smoke on the water.
A great reaction to a great White Lion’s son
The lead singer's name is Mike Tramp (great name, huh?) and their members are both American and Danish. They only had two Top 40 hits in the U.S, the other being "Wait". They also did a cool cover of "Radar Love", by Golden Earring. "Little Fighter" is another good one of theirs.
Mike has also got some great songs as a solo artist after White lion too (His solo album "Songs I Left Behind" is a personal favorite), in a softer more contemplative (mature?) rock style than most of the White Lion material (having said that, When the Children Cry, would fit right in amongst his solo stuff). Cheers!
Definitely one of the best ballads to come out of the 80’zzzzz….LOVED White Lion!!! Check out “Wait”, “Tell Me” & “All You Need is Rock & Roll”…top notch pop metal no doubt 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
One of my favorite bands of the 90s.
Definitely check out their other songs. "Wait" was probably their biggest hit. Other songs, "little fighter" Tell me" and their cover of "Radar Love" is great with an amazing Drum solo. Enjoy the white lion journey guys!
Powerful song ! When the power of love overcomes the love for power the world will know peace. A quote by Jimi Hendrix
I once met White Lion guitarist Vito Bratta outside the L.A. Sports Arena after a Ratt/Britny Fox/Kix concert in 1989, and he was a super humble, very low key guy, definitely not someone who sought the limelight or really wanted the kind of attention that most rock stars receive. We chatted for a bit and he signed his autograph for me when I asked, but just meeting him was enjoyable. I’ll never forget that encounter. I hope he’s doing OK now, even though he’s not making music anymore.
This song was GIGANTIC on radio and MTV back in 1988-89. I don’t remember anyone not liking it.
There was a version of this song that came out after the Oklahoma City bombing that had clips from the searchers and the news reporters in it. THAT one was the biggest tear jerker of all time! Great band and great song. They didn’t get enough credit.
that was brutal
The band Live did the same thing with their song "Lightning Crashes."
I'm never watching that video again. That makes this song 10,000 times sadder
@@patperry4268 right?!
Yes!! My favorite hair band from the ‘80’s! Thank you 😊
You don't see a lot of White Lion reactions, there needs to be more. I'll second that Vito is very underrated. His solos aren't just technical that integrate with the mood of the song amazingly. Radar Love is a fun cover.
I never realized it until you said he’s cryin on the solo and you are right and I’m 48 and have been listening to this since o was 11.
I really enjoyed this reaction. Thank you.
Love these guys. "Wait" by them is my favorite, has one of the best guitar solos I have ever heard. you've also got "Love Don't come easy" and "Little Fighter" but sadly this band broke up after their third or fourth album so we don't have a s deep a catalogue for them as I would wish.
dude i still get goosebumps at that part to funny you said that lol... also cry challenge Trace Adkins Your gonna miss this and Alan Jackson Remember when
Amazing song, and so true! Timeless classic!!! Everyone I know loves this song.
If you want a faster song from them, try their first hit, "Wait." I literally thought it was Bon Jovi when I first heard it. It sounds just like them, right down to the lead vocal.
one of my favorite bands from the late 80s, absolutely wore out that tape cassette lol. Wait was their big hit and Vito Bratta kills it with a solo, lady of the valley is a great song as well. Not many misses with this band.
Before slippery when wet came out in 86 basically I just played the Pride tape and The Final Countdown over and over
This song could be for todays generation. we need to stop with wars
War will never end. Many countries including America come from war and some leaders aren't happy with the results. They want more and they'll always want more. If intelligence wasn't a thing, the world would be on fire. How ever and for what it's worth i agree with you 💯
Like with so many hair bands that released a ballad, this song marked the end of the band. They released one more album before disbanding.
Lead singer Mike Tramp reformed the band as Mike Tramp's White Lion. Guitar virtuoso Vitto Bratta basically called it quits after the band broke up. Which is ashamed because he was so talented.
I remember the VH1 show Bands Reunited where they tried to reunite the original line up. All members were willing except Vitto. Who refused to reunite and refused to be interviewed.
You should react to their best song (after this) is Wait. Off the same album.
Very under rated band. Vito is a awesome guitar player. Should look at Wait and Little Fighter. Very powerful song
"Till Death do us part " is next please.
Before grunge there was White Lion. On flannel plaid, or denim.
Think about this. I was 11 when this song came. Im guessing you guys weren't born. So, he was singing to us.
Are we changing the world? Yes! I've become spiritual and on the path to teach, and you guys are bringing people together through music by helping everyone to learn more about each other and realize we are not so different. In fact, we are all connected. 🙏
I was thinking the same thing as I listened to the song. These two were really little or not thought of yet during that era and I always feel bad for people that way. They missed out!!!
I was 18 and big in hairband metal and still am.
White Lion was great in the day. Try Wait, by them will not disappoint. No more tears please, got me tearing up too!😢
Damn Finally. I have been saying that you two should check this out for the longest time. If you want their glam metal songs check out Wait and Tell Me. White lion also did a great remaking of Radar Love.
"Tell Me" by White Lion is a great song my personal favorite
Love the song, and the band. Tragic that they quit playing so early. Vito Bratta was one of the best guitar players of a generation. The song "Wait" showcases the talent.
I agree with 95 percent of this song. It’s an awesome song, love it. Yes violin.
You are the children that they are speaking of. This is the world you will inherit and the future is up to your generation. Love, peace and soul to you and your family.
You're All I Need- is my favorite song from them.
How far has Jay come? He's now advising metal bands on which instruments they should have included on tracks. He'll be a music producer in no time.
And just think, white lion "when the children cry" was made before you were born. Been a heart felt song for me since it came out. So very happy you experienced this song. Back then it was about bringing the world together, but now a days it seems like bringing America back together, since we have been so torn apart. Glad and happy to hear you loved the song. Will subscribe, and will occasionally send you other music you might not have heard, but could also move you. Hugs
Oh yes, Singer Mister Tramp ❤️❤️❤️👍Great Band 🤘👍
It's difficult knowing the younger generation of parents, like you two, pray and hope for the same things the older generations prayed and hoped for their children. It goes on and on.
We have to teach our future generations to have love, compassion and empathy for others. That's the only way things will change.
Y'alls, sincerity and solemnity makes me have hope. I love you guys like family without ever meeting you
Such an under rated song that the world needs to take a seat and have a good listen to.
Saw them In 1987. 17 yrs old, now I'm 53... Front row and got a drumstick. It was like heaven. There was no better time and that !
I hope you are correct Amber. In my hippie days in the late Sixties, I was certain that the Age of Aquarius was upon us. The Youngbloods sang "Get Together". The end of wars, racism, etc... Then when the Wall and Iron Curtain fell. Scorpions played "Winds of Change" and I thought all was gonna be well again. Now we have a huge war raging in Europe and our young people are dying in the streets here at home every night. I never want to loose optimism, but it'a really hard to hold on to hope. Wage Peace!!!!!
Amazing song. Mike Tramp is releasing renewed versions of White Lion very soon, including this one. To be followed... still their old stuff is great!
What a great Song from a Underated Band.
A German singer and songwriter (Hans Söllner) once said "If everyone loved children, not just his children but all children, there would be no more wars in the world. No person who loves children could kill the father of another child
The music video was filmed at Veterans Park neighborhood park here in east Charlotte.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Their biggest ballad
Listen to their other songs like "Little Fighter", their cover of "Radar Love", and "Wait".
Yes an amazing song....how old is this song; shot it could be new today and hit the spot. I forget about this song, haven't heard it in decades; but love it.
Loved this whole album - Pride. Wait and All You Need Is Rock n Roll are amazing.
We Love you too!! Thank you for making me smile.
I had the pleasure of catching them LIVE here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Back in the Summer of '89, at the Ottawa Super Ex. They were opening up for Cinderella, the whole bill was... Tangier, White Lion and Cinderella. What a show it was! Mike Tramp's voice was just as good live, as on the album. Vitto Bratta was KILLIN' it on the guitar. Great memories of a great band that should have gotten WAY more recognition! Loved the reaction and keep up the GREAT work! 🤘🤘🤘
this song came out when i was pregnant with my oldest son and it was dedicated to him. He was born hearing impaired and mentally challenged so it was very special song for me for him so seeing you react to this is emotional for me but i knew you would love this song between you having kids and are teachers this would hit your hearts
I pray you are right Amber. Our world is just so broken…thanks for being hopeful.
Such an amazing song. Just beautiful, yet sad. When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world may know peace. Thanx so much, many Blessings
White Lion's version of Radar Love is a rocker that makes it hard not to exceed the speed limit when listening to it. One of my all time favorites I think you guys would enjoy. Another moving song of theirs is Cry For Freedom its about apartheid in South Africa.
More from White Lion, "Wait", "Tell Me", "Little fighter", "Radar love", and "Love don't come easy".
I saw White Lion back in their prime and they gave a great show at Lamour's in Brooklyn. But three years ago, I saw the singer Mike Tramp do a solo gig out here in Colorado. I went up to talk to him and he was so nice. Very personalble and grateful for the fans.
White Lion was a great band, they have many good songs you guys could react to, i hope to see more. Songs like Wait, Hungry, Little Fighter, Broken Home, Cry For Freedom, Radar Love (cover), Broken Heart (good rocking song with ballad like start of the song but when that riff comes in, i love it), Love Don't Come Easy, Till Death Do Us Part, You're All In Need
Vito Bratta was an amazing guitarist and it was a huge loss when he decided to leave the music world. He and Mike Tramp (the vocalist) made some magical music together. I really loved their first three albums. They hit it big with this one (their second album). This song along with “Wait” and “Tell Me” were both hits off of the album and put them on the map. Their next album had great tracks like “Little Fighter”, “Cry For Freedom” and an awesome cover of Golden Earring’s “Radar Love”. Definitely a band you need to check out some more.
White Lion was a hard rock band from the 80's that got overlooked... They debuted in 1985 w/ 'Fight to survive' released independently...
Many of their early fans felt that White Lion being signed by a major label commercialized their sound for the 'Pride' album in 1987... the record sold platinum in the US w/ hits like 'Wait'... 'When the children cry'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
The classic White Lion was: Mike Tramp (vocals/ guitar), Vito Bratta (lead guitar), James Lomenzo (bass) and Greg D'Angelo (drums)... the next album 'Big game' in 1989 went gold, but did not sell up to expectations... Their final album 'Mane attraction' (1991) was a commercial failure in the wake of 90's grunge rock... Lomenzo and D'Angelo quit the band and were replaced before White Lion broke up.
Mike Tramp released solo albums, and tried to reactivate White Lion w/ new members... but he got into legal battles w/ former guitarist Vito Bratta over the name 'White Lion' and had to stop using the name... Vito has since retired from music... Mike Tramp still records & tours, playing White Lion songs.
Other White Lion songs - 'Hungry' ... 'Radar love' (Golden Earring cover)... "Goin' home tonight'... "Lonely nights"... 'Cherokee'... "All you need is rock n roll" 🔥🔥🤘🤘
You must do, "Wait." It's always been my favourite from them, and the guitars are amazing. Great reaction!
I was 13 when i listened to to this song for the first time. Its just special. Now i am 50 and i bought the álbum for.my two daughters, with some words for them. I am just full of gratitude for still being around and for everything life has given me😢
The guitar 🎸 solo is by Vitto Bratta. I enjoyed this group as I was growing up listening to them. The lead vocalist is Mike Tramp! They had a lot of great songs, guitar riffs, catchy tunes. Some people did compare Vitto Bratta's guitar 🎸 playing/finger tapping with Eddie Van Halen at one time. They were both way ahead of their time and, complete virtuoso's! Glad yall reacted to them! Keep on reacting to them when you can. Hope yall have a great weekend! 😊
@Te'leg'ram Me RobSquadReact - hello, glad y'all enjoyed the video, thanks for doing a reaction to it
