    Tom Kiefer's not a household name, but he should have been! Hard to believe this band only put out four albums. So yeah, the rabbit hole is not deep, but you still have some tunneling to do. For your next one, try "Somebody Save Me", "Gypsy Road", "The Last Mile", "Coming Home", or "Shelter Me". Any of those would be great choices.

    Cinderella were phenomenal in concert. I won tickets years ago over the radio by answering the question, “Who was Cinderella’s (the band) fairy godmother. “ It was John Bon Jovi who got them signed into stardom. 👍🏻😊🙌🏻❤️

      I saw them too in concert back in the 80's haha They weren't my fave band at all but they were better than their appearance would suggest. It was a good show, not earth shattering good but still decent and the tickets were free since a guy friend took me. I had same thing happen (from your story) but it was with AC DC where I won tickets.

    Cinderella should have been as prominent as 80's bands like Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, or Bon Jovi (who they opened for!) ... They scored 2 huge multi-platinum records ('Night songs' and 'Long cold winter') but they were pegged as a 'hair band'... So, they incorporated southern rock and country western influences into the 3rd album 'Heartbreak station' in 1990... Unfortunately, vocalist/ guitarist Tom Kiefer developed vocal problems on tour in 1991 and needed surgery... While Cinderella was forced to take a break, Nirvana and Pearl Jam broke big in 1992 and ended the careers of (most of) the 80's hair bands. Tom Keifer was finally able to recover to sing in the studio for the 4th Cinderella album 'Still climbing' in 1994, but the album sold poorly and the band split by 1996... Cinderella did reunite to tour again in 1998, but never made another record for some reason.
    Tom Keifer decided to go solo after 2010... Cinderella guitarist Jeff LaBar passed away in 2021.

    • @lawrencedavis4406
      @lawrencedavis4406 Год назад

      Here's why...they did get a new deal 1996 or so with the reactivated Portrait label with Sony, who were signing former hair metal bands put out to pasture due to the advance of grunge & alt-rock...they put out a Ratt record for instance...well something happened in that deal that nothing was released and they either got dropped or they sued to get out of the deal and were stuck in litigation for years...then Tom was recovering from vocal problems, then Jeff had addiction problems which basically caused Tom to end the band, then Jeff died...sucks about the Sony period, I wonder if any recordings were ever made...but I'm a big Cinderella/Tom fan...the song "Heartbreak Station" is so good, it's like a rich alt-country ballad with a heartbreaking lap steel guitar solo & string arrangement...

    • @sumonjamal1653
      @sumonjamal1653 Год назад

      @@lawrencedavis4406 The Portrait/ Sony deal was on them... Yes, Ratt admitted they were under pressure to deliver an 'updated' record and that failed in 1999... But Great White put out an awesome record "Cant' get there from here"... Iron Maiden released 'Brave New World' ... on that 1998 to 2001 window.
      Tom & Cinderella were either (I'm guessing) not motivated to deliver on their terms, or just hamstrung creatively by internal creative problems.
      Either way, they spent studio money and did not deliver contractually within that window of opportunity. So, of course, the label wanted their money (or product) back.
      Cinderella were not ready to produce music and I guess it showed...
      I could name so many 80's bands that had the opportunity to put out new music, but just gave up - Warrant, Kix, Slaughter, Ratt, Poison, Faster Pussycat, Firehouse, Dangerous Toys, Lita Ford, White Lion, Twisted Sister, Guns N' Roses...
      And yet, there were plenty of bands who kept putting out records, even independently, just to keep themselves creative - L.A. Guns, Bon Jovi, Dokken, Def Leppard, Enuff Znuff, Great White, WASP, Tesla, etc.

    YES!!!, Aqua Net was the BOMB. Easy enough to go thru a can or two every weekend. And YES!!!, the hair was everywhere. When bands were signed, written into their contracts was how much the record companies would spend on their stage costumes and hair. If they had long hair, more was sewn in, so it was thicker and fuller and looked better on stage and in pictures, and if they didn't have the long hair length was added, plus the hair color. Notice how many bands have black hair. The thought was it made them look dangerous. LOL

This song was the first song released from their first album, but I've always been partial to the third single they released, "Somebody Save Me." You've got to check out that video. It has a couple of great surprise guest appearances at the end of the video. And as others have said, "Gypsy Road" from their second album is a great song too. My favorite song by Cinderella has to be "Bad Seamstress Blues/Fallin' Apart at the Seams" that started off their second album. Unfortunately, it was never released as a single, but the song is posted on RUclips. I seem to remember you all mentioning liking songs that have sudden tempo changes, and that song is the poster child for that.

    Seen these guys live twice and this song absolutely kills it! Often serves as their show closer.
    Saw them in both an outdoor amphitheater and and a very small indoor venue that was part of a bowling alley and they had amazing energy in both settings. Great band!

    Yes...people walked around with big hair in the latter half of the 80s. I finished hair school in the 80s and I used plenty of Paul Mitchell's Freeze & Shine spray to get hair to stay as high as it could be made to. I stopped doing hair in '89..and was happy to be done with it.

    Loved this band! This was my first concert aside from a state and county fairs shows. There were well over 70K people there Cinderella was playing with Bon Jovi. At that time this was the largest crowd Cinderella had ever played for and they kept circling the crowd above in helicopters taking pictures. I remembered reading in a Hit Parade or other magazine that Tom Keifer took those pictures and had them blown up and put them up in his home on a wall memorial. I always thought it was cool my picture was on his wall...I was only in the 7th grade and was totally pumped.

    I was 21 years old in 1984, this song was probably 88, 89. Everyone had long hair, to answer your question.
    You had to get perms regularly, long hairs, usually blow dry their permed hair and hit the spray, for party’s and Concerts.

    Cinderella is from Philly. I used to roadie for bands in the Philadelphia area and did lights for the Empire Rock Club in Philly. I did their lights for their last gig at the Empire. Yeah they were a hair band, but they had talent. Tommy Keifer, Jeff LaBar (RIP), Eric Brittingham and Fred Courey were a good tight Rock and Roll band and much less on stage for their hair and looks. Always put on a great show. I was there right before they hit it big with their Night Songs debut.
    Brought back a lot of memories watching this.
