The Caterham is definitely one of the cars we should all try once. Have to agree, would not want to drive it daily though. One of the funnier STG videos I think. Good work, Sam.
Great video, I have a 620S myself! Bought a few months ago, the first car I’ve had that scares me. Now the good weather is starting I’ll be enjoying it a little more.
My dad has the Caterham Superlight R300 version. Fantastic car. Very fast. 2 litre Ford engine again but not supercharged. Only 175BHP but trust me... that’s plenty. 4.5 second 0-60 time too. Glad you reviewed this Sam. Top content also.
Great video Sam. As you've identified traffic soon puts a dampener on things. You should head west and do Wales for a day or head north and do a quick NC500 route - surely there's no one up there at the moment?
Excellent initial review. Hope you enjoy the rest of the week. I’ve had mine 2 years and as a second fun Car it’s hard to beat. Just so much fun and brings smiles and comments everywhere. Have fun!
I saw you at London BRIDGE a few days ago in the early evening! I was on my bus as you drove through Borough! 😀 But i didn't know it was you! That blue paint stood out like a mile! Lovely colour! 👍
Great video, Sam! The music, the cinematography, the sound of the engine and the way you talk is on pro level. Great presentation. Some youtubers, really need to step-up their game. 2018 is looking great.
3:20 A tiny thing, but one of the great things about driving a Caterham. Auto-cancelling indicators in cars has always annoyed me, and with modern cars that have soft on/off indicators it's got even worse. I have to re-indicate about 3 times on some junctions that I take each day. With a 7, if you want to indicate, you switch them on and they will not switch off again until you finish the manoeuvre and do it yourself - genius!
Cool video Sam, I've been lucky enough to drive a few Caterhams and they are simply so much fun! I'm yet to drive the 620, but I'll be driving the limited edition Seven Sprint later this year.
Having been a passenger in one of these, you made me laugh all video long, because you’re so right about everything regarding this car! Terrifying thing
I thought it would sound a lot more rowdy, actually sounds quite similar to my n/a 2.0 duratec. Can only imagine what something with almost twice the power and half the weight would be like. Look forward to seeing more of the 620 s Sam
Heh, l see loads of these cars hooning around here in the peak district and the drivers always have a grin on their face. They look like a ton of fun and the type of car that always keep you on your toes and would never get bored of.
I have a 125 Roadsport - and you can still scare yourself - best thing is that I have a Vantage as well and very early on a Sunday morning (any later than 7.30 and there is too much sweaty Lycra out and pedalling in large groups of middle aged angst) in narrow Kent lanes the Caterham is the more enjoyable car as its just so narrow and chuckable. And you can get them for £10k or less (only get the Ford engine - at least you know it will start and be reliable). However you are absolutely correct, its not a car for doing much else - I know people who drive to Switzerland for the weekend - stupid idea.
That thing is a beast. Hopefully you get to enjoy it in some sunny weather and twisty roads. Whether its an actual old Lotus 7, a Caterham 7, or any of the multitude of homages (or clones depending on the POV). Love them all.
Great to see that the concept of raw power and gritty feed-back handling continues the original Lotus legacy. My 1960s Lotus 7 club competition car had to be used as my daily driver.. absolutely insane with lightened flywheel, competition clutch and other go fast goodies.. Not big on the top end but my god, did it get me there fast, and handling.. made me feel like a serious driver. :>) Somehow back in the 60s/70s I could afford to compete at club level yet not today.. something must have changed.. or is it that today I know I couldn't afford to shunt it.. mmm
There is something about a caterham that makes it the perfect toy! and that noise, who said a 4 cylinder doesn't sound good....(if only the cayman sounded this great :P ). Sam take this on a track day.... it will be epic!
Can you take it to the garden/home improvement store? I'd love to see you try to put a tree, or wood or something else big in it, just so show that it can be practical. Even a grocery trip?
Loving the synthwave I’ve always wanted to know how these cars handle rain, as in the interior. Is everything waterproof? I love driving in the rain with the roof down and feeling the elements but normal car interiors get wrecked. This or an atom might be different?
i love these cars they are so raw like you said. they are very similar to the MGTF which is basicly the daily version of this car with a smaller engine.
No, no, no. The MGTF is NOTHING like this. Or, more to the point, the Caterham is nothing like the MGTF. Yes, I have driven both. And owned one. And it didn't have an MG badge on the bonnet...
7 years i had mine and my wife an i toured in it as well as tracked it. Let me tell you every thing i have driven since feels soft and dull. Other cars may be way faster but this is not about that. Its the urgency of EVERYTHING that is fun and keeps you on your toes. I urge any car guy to have a go in one of these at least once so you can get the idea of what real driving is all about. But go easy unless you have driven open wheelers or something similars before.
At last you’ve driven the purest and most fun car that you can ever drive with feed back and feel like no other.Car now use this as a bench mark for everything else you’ve driven or going to drive as nothing else will come close You’ll get a lot of thumbs up and waves it’s great....I know this I’ve owned 5 of them 👍😉
Can you please do a series this week on trying to use it for daily tasks? Do your weekly shop, run errands in London, do the traffic in London, go out to dinner with the gf.
LOL, I was thinking "hm, I'm curious what DougDeMuro would say about this car" and seconds later you mentioned him and basically did what he does, that was creepy
A pleasure to watch your videos as always Sam. I think there’s a strong argument for you being the most polished of all car RUclipsrs
Top 3 for me, potentially (If i was pushed) joint first. Can't really dis-agree with you though.
Agreed
It's the bald head, it just appears to have a shine, I can't imagine he polishes it.
The Caterham is definitely one of the cars we should all try once. Have to agree, would not want to drive it daily though. One of the funnier STG videos I think. Good work, Sam.
Cheers!
The quality of your videos is outstanding! Also what a crazy car ahah
Thank you!
Reaaally liking the style lately, Sam! Keep it up, it's getting better with every video!
What an incredible noise and video, genuinely thought I was watching top gear or the grand tour !!! 👍👍
Nah if it was TG or GT there would be 15 cuts in 10 seconds and my eyes would be bleeding
SevenW25 V I shall correct myself much better than TG or GT !! 👍
Ali G 🖕
Ali G oh please fuck off! do u honestly have nothing better to do that pick apart people’s grammar in RUclips comments?
Nice to see someone giving these kind of cars the love it deserves on RUclips.
But he doesn't give his Ferrari the love it deserves...
From 8:21 to 9:01 is brilliant...Finished by "Mummy"! Excellent video Sam you are talented and hilarious !
Great video, I have a 620S myself! Bought a few months ago, the first car I’ve had that scares me. Now the good weather is starting I’ll be enjoying it a little more.
Pleease make another video about how it is using the caterham as a daily! Would love to see more of these kinda cars!
My dad has the Caterham Superlight R300 version. Fantastic car. Very fast. 2 litre Ford engine again but not supercharged. Only 175BHP but trust me... that’s plenty. 4.5 second 0-60 time too. Glad you reviewed this Sam. Top content also.

AMAZING video sam! Grand tour and top gear level this !!! #signsamup!
Vote Sam for Top Gear! - Definitely a good shout Ralph :)
One of the coolest cars ever made 👌
It's absolutely mad and I'm loving it
Excellent initial review. Hope you enjoy the rest of the week. I’ve had mine 2 years and as a second fun Car it’s hard to beat. Just so much fun and brings smiles and comments everywhere. Have fun!
I do love these. A decent second hand, lower powers one is the perfect track day car for a beginner. A cheap way to have fun.
I saw you at London BRIDGE a few days ago in the early evening! I was on my bus as you drove through Borough! 😀
But i didn't know it was you!
That blue paint stood out like a mile! Lovely colour! 👍
wow first time i'm that quick! love your videos Sam!
This genuinely feels like a segment on old Top Gear. RUclips is future of car content and STG is one of the leaders. Well done
Sick editing Sam. Loved this video 👍🏻
Been watching your videos for over a year, this is my favourite by far :) :)
Thank you!
You watch too much Sam when you know the answer will be "hellz yeah...!" XD
Great video, Sam! The music, the cinematography, the sound of the engine and the way you talk is on pro level. Great presentation. Some youtubers, really need to step-up their game. 2018 is looking great.
Yeah I've watched all the car youtubers in this community, Sam is the only one I still watch, always engaging, another great video.
Really nice and well thought-out video Sam!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Great video Sam, really enjoyed this one! There was definitely a Top Gear-ish vibe from it, thumbs up man!
Looks like fun! Try A4074 north of Reading up into Oxfordshire. Lots of lazy curves and trees and hills.
Best STG 2k18 🙌
Love all things Caterham. Always planned an R500 as part of my perfect garage. Then along came the 620! Amazing, pure machine!
This video is very well done! Love the music track also. Can't wait to see more videos with this car.
"Lets kill myself again" nailed it :D:D
2000+ likes and only 12 dislikes.... Sam you're doing a good job!! You definitely deserve more subs
Nice video Sam, just makes me laugh with some of your comments and facial expressions....brilliant.

One of the best videos you’ve made! Love this car and keep rocking out the grade A content
Your production quality is second to no one it's like u have a production crew Defo deserve your own tv show
Love the editing! Really love this style with different kind of music aswell
music in the middle of this video is very nice..best video review comes from a car thats far from being one that is brandcentric
Cool video Sam, I've been lucky enough to drive a few Caterhams and they are simply so much fun! I'm yet to drive the 620, but I'll be driving the limited edition Seven Sprint later this year.
Loving the variety of content. A week in that and you'll definitely be scanning the classifieds for your Jag project.
Have a drag race with Paul in his AMG,that will show just how quick that Caterham is,[and embaress Paul],,,lol
Haha if i can keep the Caterham in a straight line
Oh and that music. Made watching so much more pleasant. Finally something more lively!
Appreciate the feedback
Absolutely bloody epic!!! What a noise! Great content Sam, manufacturer collaboration done right 🙌
Having been a passenger in one of these, you made me laugh all video long, because you’re so right about everything regarding this car! Terrifying thing
Great video.
Can't wait to see what you come up with during the week you have this.
This is one of the best cars you’ve driven and probably your best video so far, congratulations!
Your music selection on this was ON POINT! What track is it?
Full-on speaking your mind Sam, love it
I thought it would sound a lot more rowdy, actually sounds quite similar to my n/a 2.0 duratec. Can only imagine what something with almost twice the power and half the weight would be like. Look forward to seeing more of the 620 s Sam
These videos are TV worthy, by far the best video producer on RUclips.
Heh, l see loads of these cars hooning around here in the peak district and the drivers always have a grin on their face. They look like a ton of fun and the type of car that always keep you on your toes and would never get bored of.

Roadsport is my toy loving every moment of ownership.
Such a great video, the excitement of driving it comes across so well.
This was the best thing to watch following all those Mclaren Senna videos. Thanks Sam :)
That thing is a beast. Hopefully you get to enjoy it in some sunny weather and twisty roads. Whether its an actual old Lotus 7, a Caterham 7, or any of the multitude of homages (or clones depending on the POV). Love them all.
There are quite a few Lotus 7 recreations, which include:
Caterham
Westfield
Tiger
Donkervoort
this is one of your best vids yet sam! HAHA! you wanna try tackle a mall carpark with it?????
I love it ! Looks so much fun .. I don't think you can get any closer to a motorcycle in a car than this.
Quality Video Sam
Great video and car
That was like watching a Grand Tour review, bloody good job Sam!!!!
Ha amazing, thank you!

I absolutely love the caterham 7 range plus i live in caterham where the showroom used to be before it moved to crawley
Take it up to the Evo Triangle! Bit of a trek but it'll be a dream! (As long as it's dry!)
Great review like always STG. you rock !!!🙌
Having an English accent literally makes your videos better than they would be if you didn’t have one haha loving all your content
This would be an amazing category of car your one of yours, James and Paul’s tours! Like get a Caterham, Atom, KTM, Lotus etc
There is something about a caterham that makes it the perfect toy! and that noise, who said a 4 cylinder doesn't sound good....(if only the cayman sounded this great :P ).
Sam take this on a track day.... it will be epic!
Love the music 👍🏼 Looks like so much fun. Has it got heaters of any kind? Apart from the heat being generated from the side exhaust of course 😆
Awesome video and love how you presented it!
Nice sound track on this video 👍🏻👍🏻
Doughnuts please :) ... epic as always Sam poor Mummy lol
God ..darn the Northern winter looks harsh 😬😟
Can you take it to the garden/home improvement store? I'd love to see you try to put a tree, or wood or something else big in it, just so show that it can be practical. Even a grocery trip?
Loving channel lately. Sam more info or a shop tour be cool
Great video Sam keep up the good work!
fun car and very well put together video Sam. Keep it up
Loving the synthwave
I’ve always wanted to know how these cars handle rain, as in the interior. Is everything waterproof?
I love driving in the rain with the roof down and feeling the elements but normal car interiors get wrecked. This or an atom might be different?

Yes, I have driven both. And owned one. And it didn't have an MG badge on the bonnet...
chocolatetelevision was it the Caterham or a de-badged MG?
First a Doug Demuro reference, and then a Pheunomia reference? STG is getting big boys!
Doesn't get more pure as a driving experience.
I cant wait for my channel to get bigger and start doing more videos like this ....amazing video keep it up
Fantastic video!! Loved it and love the Caterham! Madness!
7 years i had mine and my wife an i toured in it as well as tracked it. Let me tell you every thing i have driven since feels soft and dull. Other cars may be way faster but this is not about that. This guy is as cool as a cucumber, he makes any car sound better and faster than what it is!
You have to track day it to get the full experience. Defo be doing that. Nice vid
At last you’ve driven the purest and most fun car that you can ever drive with feed back and feel like no other.Car now use this as a bench mark for everything else you’ve driven or going to drive as nothing else will come close
You’ll get a lot of thumbs up and waves it’s great....I know this I’ve owned 5 of them 👍😉
Such an underrated little beast. Great initial review
Can you please do a series this week on trying to use it for daily tasks? Do your weekly shop, run errands in London, do the traffic in London, go out to dinner with the gf.
Your next daily, Sam? Great video..top quality, mate!
Show it to us in more detail. Engine bay, boot, and how to put the roof up etc.
Sam, Pleae try a Donkervoort GTO. You will love it!
They have the turbo 5cyl from the Audi TTRS
great cars but lets remember where it came from Colin Chapman's iconic Lotus 7
"I am not a number, I'm a free man!"
Yeah, the Lotus Super Seven/Caterham has come a long way. Still looks the same though.
Did you do any more videos on the Caterham. Would love to see them
Is there even space for a bag or in generelle space for your stuff? Besides from the passengerseat.
Does it have a heated windscreen for those wintery mornings?
(Not as stupid a question as it may sound - my Westfield does)
So back in the Cayman the lights aren't on, the horn isn't used and Sam doesn't indicate, but he has selected a different radio station about 45 times
LOL, I was thinking "hm, I'm curious what DougDeMuro would say about this car" and seconds later you mentioned him and basically did what he does, that was creepy
Gotta love Doug
How about a trip to Milton Keynes to explore the many wide roundabouts on offer?
Yep, production value has achieved a new level!
Was the song used in the outro Kavinsky?
