Ah, that brings back memories. I urgently need to put my Caterham HPC on the Ring again. Funnily the 355R is very similar to my car, not only with roughly the same power (the HPC is a bit heavier) but also with its slightly understeery cornering behaviour. Thumbs up for that video, Misha. And thumbs up for the driver.
One of the best video laps from a Caterham. Great commentary Great driving and the best conditions to get the best out of the car. Owning an original Lotus Seven means that watching these videos makes me smile and happy that Graham Nearn kept the spirit alive. I’m sure Chapman is smiling down too.
Dale has the 'racing driver' ability to see things in a slower time and as such the ability to act and think way faster than the average ring 'hero" awesome lap,and goes to show added lightness is the equal of mega bhp.
Nothing says "Niche British Sports Car Built In A Shed" like constantly having to take your hands off the wheel and cup the gauges so that you can see if it's overheating :D
Nice lap! I was on the track exactly two minutes before you, and Dale was one MINUTE! faster than me (BTG)! There you can see.... it´s not the car! It´s the driver who makes the difference!
The best looking car ever, from the outside, is the Bentley Continental R from the early '90s. The best looking car ever, from the inside looking out, is the Caterham 7! I was lucky enough to own one (1400 K series) and when you are driving it, it is heaven. You also get a LOT of positive comments and looks and thumbs up from passers by and people you are passing by. In continuous production since the '50s, arguably the greatest true sports car of all time.
In another life I enjoyed a Series 2 Seven, and with a live back axle. I always thought getting in and out, particularly with the hood up, had all the grace of putting a condom on. Wonderful car, wonderful fun.
This is one of, if not my favorite track car’s. Everything is just right in the Caterham. However, a roll cage is a must I believe as I strongly believe the crash rating isn’t a 5 star as the smart car. But a truly fun track toy for shore!
Bucket list is the wrong term I think - I've just realized this is a track and a place I expect to spend time in future. Now I want to take my NC MX5 to tracks! I can see the fun to be had despite the low power.
I've been hoping you'd do a lap in a Lotus 7 clone. Caterham seems to be the best of the lot so now I'll have to wait until you go in one set up for racing. Those things are crazy fast. Great video! Thanks!
Caterhams are not Lotus 7 clones, they are the Lotus 7. When Lotus wanted to discontinue the 7, becausecthey were still selling well, Caterham Cars bought the rights to the 7 design and the tooling from Lotus.
really nice driving there mate, beautiful car and wow your just blitzing past everyone. some of the other cars and drivers were dangerously slow. This kind of driving experience reminds me of driving on the Isle of Man on the TT mountain section when its one way during the race weeks. Those tires have a lot of grip, i was surprised how much speed your taking some corners and for sure know that track. I guess the 40 people who put a thumbs down must be the ones you overtook haha.
Errrr.... I once saw a 5.3 V8 928 towing a trailer-tent round the Nordschleife. After I'd overtaken it in my "slightly modified" 1953 Triumph Mayflower, I waved and crashed.......
Awsome lap. I have just bought an Acer X34 and loved watching it in 1440p. Any chance you might upload in 21:9 one day. I would love to see laps like this on full screen. I am a loyal subscriber either way :)
great driving of carmrade Dale! I also like all the additional information you put in the video. gives you a much more better idea of what is actually happening ☺
Amazing almost feeling it oversteer sliding into corner and then gracefully grip with power on. Not something a RUclips viewer can sense with normal cars.
If you had one of these on your fleet, fully raced up, I think you would get a lot of takers. I built one years ago, with a 2.8 V6 (from a Capri). Very scary but went like shit of a shiny shovel
Actually they lie about the 355. 170/500 is 340hp/t, but the car weighs 645 so you get to 265hp/t if you remotely control it:) The real ratio in this case because of the passenger was ~200hp/t not bad but nowhere near an m3.
Loving this car , a few concerns though, 1 insurance? 2 Irish weather ,3 protection , 4 I'm 6 ft 4 , apart from that seems to be the perfect weekend car!!
Alan Connolly in the UK, I can insure my fathers R500 evo for just under £800 a year! And I’m 18, With full comp... they are the deal of the Century for insurance, thanks
Good driving. Though, I thought he was being modest when at first he said "it's not that fast." I expected it to be a lot faster, but that thing is like slow civic performance with above average handling (in this config). It's nothing like the 620R
dont really like the caterhams, but i would take a ride with dale any time after i watched his N24HR video where he took p3 in the rain on slicks... this guy is a beast. does he still drive the taxi?
The 355hp/t is not bad but once you pick up speed the airdrag starts to hinder the performance because of the small engine. It was still very quick though.
Caterhams have never been about top speeds, but about acceleration, cornering and agility. They have similar aerodynamics to a house brick, especially with the windscreen attached.
With the windscreen they do hit the proverbial brick wall above 100 mph, but many track oriented cars switch to an aero screen which helps. But frankly, the Ring, where top speed is essential for good lap times, is not the track for a Caterham.
OMG! Take a look at the fuel gauge at the beginning (2:46) and the end of the lap (14:04). Either this thing is thirsty a.f. or the tank is rather small...
The gauges are comedy. No movement for ages and then the tank appears to drain like a bath tub without a plug! I’ve NEVER got more than £30’s worth of super unleaded into my 420R
That was a really good lap, one of the best.. very smooth, fast and enjoyable to watch. Well done!
Is it fair to say that the nurburgring nordschleife is my favorite place on earth despite never having physically been there?
No
That and the Isle of Man.
@@Jacbedn Hello Jacob my last name is also Eiden despite not being from Germany
Should visit then. You won’t be disappointed
Agreed!!🔥🔥🔥
7:57 is really freaking good.. Sends it into the corner extremely fast only to powerslide it out.. Thats a pro for sure!
I love how happy he is about his car :D
Those Caterhams are such nice little cars, and very fast indeed..
And thumbs up for the driver.
and the fuelneedle was like: mate i never worked this much in my life :D
One of the best video laps from a Caterham. Great commentary Great driving and the best conditions to get the best out of the car. Owning an original Lotus Seven means that watching these videos makes me smile and happy that Graham Nearn kept the spirit alive. I’m sure Chapman is smiling down too.
woow. what a hell machine. realy dangerous in case of a crash... but no risk no fun. thumbs up
BS, Caterham is safe
TWR had a good quote - 'just don't crash'
They raced these in the 24 hour race back in the day, one of them came 11th out of 200ish
amazing driver with amazing car
And on the opposite scale we have the MG "record setter" guy...
I love the telemetry! Please do this more (especially the next 675LT lap!)
Is this an App?
That moment when you forgot about the GP circuit at the beginning and wonder how on earth that was an 11 minutes BTG lap lol
just awesome. what a car, and a very capable driver too. thanks for sharing this.
One of the best RING ride along vids. Really nice and stable Misha, great new tools for your videos.
Thank you!
I need one of these for my next beer run. Every thing was smooth and controlled. Great video and super nice car.
It feels lightweight just watching the video. Brakes late and dive in to the corners, love it
"it's really not a car about max speed you know"
It's a car about everything else - my dream toy
Dale has the 'racing driver' ability to see things in a slower time and as such the ability to act and think way faster than the average ring 'hero"
awesome lap,and goes to show added lightness is the equal of mega bhp.
Nothing says "Niche British Sports Car Built In A Shed" like constantly having to take your hands off the wheel and cup the gauges so that you can see if it's overheating :D
7:14 Good to have a windshield :D
Ahaaaa i just finished slow mo-ing that like 3 or 4 times!!!
r.i.p.
it's like a paintball bullet
Total respect. Love B2G videos. Great to see this collaboration.
Doood! This has to be the best in-car video I have seen! Fantastic :)
Thanks!
+Misha Charoudin he meant Dyana😆
Love your content mate, this in particular was awesome, what a driver!
Keep em coming
Nice lap! I was on the track exactly two minutes before you, and Dale was one MINUTE! faster than me (BTG)! There you can see.... it´s not the car! It´s the driver who makes the difference!
Gotta love it when you go to “like” a 3 year old video.... and you already liked it, 😂
Imagine your in a modern sports car and this old fashioned little match box comes flying past you
The best looking car ever, from the outside, is the Bentley Continental R from the early '90s. The best looking car ever, from the inside looking out, is the Caterham 7!

Maximum in 5th, if you downshift and go again to the redline then shift, you’ll get more out of it
This small crazy toy are amazing I just got a 485. I love it, but I think the 355 doesn't have enough power for riding the track. But what a car !!
Nice!! I have a motto - "If you can't drive fast, don't". Not this guy - smooth, no drama - very comfortable at speed. My complements!!
In another life I enjoyed a Series 2 Seven, and with a live back axle. I always thought getting in and out, particularly with the hood up, had all the grace of putting a condom on.
Wonderful car, wonderful fun.

They're great fun on the road too. You don't need a roll cage, just a roll bar and some common sense. ;-)
Stay off that blicker, let Misha support you. Keep your hands at the wheel!!!
what a car, awesome.
Best car in the world
Bucket list is the wrong term I think - I've just realized this is a track and a place I expect to spend time in future. Now I want to take my NC MX5 to tracks! I can see the fun to be had despite the low power.
Clean fast driving style. Good work mate.
My best track record was 39min 56 sec (PIAGGIO CIAO SL - no windshield). Jokes apart is a beatiful circuit !!! :)
DO IT FOR DALE! Hell yea brother
And they feel like they have 50% more power when you take the windscreen off. Great fun car!!
Little Devil !!!
El Seven es lo más parecido a un monoplaza de carreras que se puede conducir. Grande Colin Chapman !!!
6:41
MadLad cups his gauges to read them under glare.
A few Irish friends and I cannot wait to get to the Ring before the VLN in August :D
I was looking forward to this video! Thanks Misha!
@Misha - A new Caterham Lap would be great! ;)
That's a cool proper old skool ride.... You should see if you can find someone with a Radical SR8 ...
Please meet Dale again in 6 months from now and take the same car for a lap in the snow. It will take a bit longer, but it'll be fun as heck :-)
Misha, can you move because I'm taking a photo? I'm an employee of the team. Thanks.
Rob R Haha
really nice driving there mate, beautiful car and wow your just blitzing past everyone. some of the other cars and drivers were dangerously slow. This kind of driving experience reminds me of driving on the Isle of Man on the TT mountain section when its one way during the race weeks.

This guy is a good driver and this car so nice.
Very fast looking onboard
astonishing vision
Errrr.... I once saw a 5.3 V8 928 towing a trailer-tent round the Nordschleife.
After I'd overtaken it in my "slightly modified" 1953 Triumph Mayflower, I waved and crashed.......
This is probably my dream car. I would take this over any Lamborghini or Ferrari, it is just so brutal.
I've just started building one of these. This is WHY! lol
nice controlled driving
ive been dying for this video thank you good sir ! A+
at 7:12 a huge orange bug splatter on the windscreen 😂
jesus this is beautiful to watch
Very Good Video.
The Caterham Seven It's A Really Fun Car.
Nice insect collection by the end.
Okay I'm new to this channel, but Damn what a little beastie of a car, completely mesmerising drive,Rj in Oz,
lot of probs: body flex, air drag, squirrely as can be, nice light weight a plus
Best video of this channel.
Beautiful run
that gopro on screen data is so sweet
Like! wish I could drive that smooth
Awsome lap. I have just bought an Acer X34 and loved watching it in 1440p. Any chance you might upload in 21:9 one day. I would love to see laps like this on full screen. I am a loyal subscriber either way :)
Thumbs up for the old Fiesta and yes Carb fed.
Loved every bit of it. This Dale guy is so funny and informative. The lines. Loved it.
Sunshields on the gauges would be a good idea.
What a stud driver!
great driving of carmrade Dale! I also like all the additional information you put in the video. gives you a much more better idea of what is actually happening ☺
We need more of these videos of onboard laps.. :)
Amazing almost feeling it oversteer sliding into corner and then gracefully grip with power on. Not something a RUclips viewer can sense with normal cars.
Good driving. A k-swap would be kick ass 😀 maybe a bit scary-er
This is one car I'd love to drive on track, it looks awesome. Maybe also an Elise too may be similar?
Simply awesome! :-D
Gostaria de poder ver mais videos com os Lotus Seven, sejam eles caterham ou não. Cara, tu pilota muito, meus parabéns!
Wow spettacolo 😯
Very well driven
Misha - try the V8 version if you can get your hands on one, thought this thing was fast ? talk about a mental gokart !
Wow made that look easy 👍
The driver and car are one - Awesome 👏
If you had one of these on your fleet, fully raced up, I think you would get a lot of takers. I built one years ago, with a 2.8 V6 (from a Capri). Very scary but went like shit of a shiny shovel
Jim Sound problem is less skillful drivers
I know that problem Misha, mine nearly killed me when I first drove it...far too much power to weight
Actually they lie about the 355. 170/500 is 340hp/t, but the car weighs 645 so you get to 265hp/t if you remotely control it:)
The real ratio in this case because of the passenger was ~200hp/t not bad but nowhere near an m3.
It depends on how you weigh it. With fuel? Without? Half a tank? You mean 545 Kg? 645Kg would be 20% heavier than other Sevens.
waking up to another video from misha, awesome
Anyone noticed the tires squeak like Tie fighter in Star Wars? :-D
The ADAC tow truck guy experienced what it would be like for WW2 bomber crews when the enemy fighters showed up
Loving this car , a few concerns though, 1 insurance? 2 Irish weather ,3 protection , 4 I'm 6 ft 4 , apart from that seems to be the perfect weekend car!!
Alan Connolly ask your local Caterham dealer! :)
Alan Connolly in the UK, I can insure my fathers R500 evo for just under £800 a year! And I’m 18, With full comp... they are the deal of the Century for insurance, thanks
Very nice drive and just shows you don't need raw horse power to do the business
Good driving. Though, I thought he was being modest when at first he said "it's not that fast." I expected it to be a lot faster, but that thing is like slow civic performance with above average handling (in this config). It's nothing like the 620R
You are completely missing the mark on what makes Caterhams so good.
Excellent....
dont really like the caterhams, but i would take a ride with dale any time after i watched his N24HR video where he took p3 in the rain on slicks... this guy is a beast. does he still drive the taxi?
Claudio Graf he is about to again
nice

I would be terrified to ride passenger in that. I can feel the speed, from here
"355 hp per ton... so if we had two tons... it'd be...(checks math) 600hp!" Misha got some balls getting into a car with a guy who can't do math.
What a weapon! I want it!
300 hp per ton is like a Miata with about 360 hp... no wonder it's fast!
