    One of the best (if not the best) reviews of the Morgan I've watched: nice to see someone who understands the cars he's testing giving his review, not the same old string of cliches and complaints that its not modern or fast enough. Well done Chris for 'getting' what he's driving!

    • @RaresEnache
      @RaresEnache 9 лет назад +11

      yes, everyone knows that these cars are made for fun experience and not for destroy the lap time... But reviews want obviously to talk about the lap time and that's a pity.
      But this one didn't the mistake

    • @afrog2666
      @afrog2666 7 лет назад

      Some people are interested in the lap times because even though the cars are for FUN, they also want to get something that will let them NOT be lapped 5 times by EVERYONE on a track day, and it says something about how fast it is, and that is also about FUN.. It`s not a mistake, it`s a necessity, and it`s the consumers that continually ask for it if it`s left out ;)

    I love these kinds of videos and these kinds of cars. I like to pretend I am driving a Morgan or a Caterham when I light up the rear wheels in my Jeep on a wet day. It may not be the most sophisticated driving machine, but it gets the job done in my opinion.

  • @ghenckel

    I bought a 230hp high-lift cam Zetec Caterham 7 last winter on a whim. Good whim it was, as the car is a total hoot to drive. Same power-weight ratio as a Viper (though admittedly not nearly as fast as my Gen 4 Viper ;) But still crazy fast and crazy fun. Kids literally scream in joy when you drive by in a car as ridiculous as a Lotus 7. And a total chic magnet! Driving an ordinary, exotic super car (Ferrari, or other) suggests to the world that you may need to (because of your other shortcomings)... but only gents completely secure in their manhood drive a car as silly as a Lotus 7. Just because it is stupid fun! And it's only a data-driven observation that I'm sharing that women love this car for some reason!...I'm sure that the girls, of course, also just recognize the pure joy in it. Everyone loves a 7 - the car sounds great, is stupid fast, and has no pretense.

    The British may not have invented the 2 seat convertible but they pretty much perfected it. It's so odd how so many countries make such vastly different cars suited to their country. Here in the states we make high powered straight line machines or appliances, Japan makes high tech economical cars, Germans make luxury high speed touring cars, Brits make quick great handling roadsters. I find it unfair how people say cars from other countries (especially here) don't do this or that. We all know American cars don't handle very well, because we are a country obsessed with drag racing. You take a mustang and a jag and put them on a flat road and the mustang will walk away. Put them on a twisty road and the Jag will leave the mustang behind.

    • @Jacksonkellyfreak
      @Jacksonkellyfreak 10 лет назад +2

      *****
      no, the engines in those cars are japanese, but the british have tuned the holy piss out of them. lotus uses the toyota 2zz and 2gr engines in their cars. the lancer evo and impreza both had their suspension designed by prodrive in the uk, and the gtr by mclaren i think. im not totally sure on that but i think i read that somewhere in a car magazine or heard it on a car show. but im not sure. the brits most definitely have a stranglehold on the luxury market with Rolls, Jag, Bentley before VW bought them, and Aston. The Germans do luxury very very well, but they can't compare to the English burled walnut and corinthian leather, with the lamb's wool mats

    • @shananagans5
      @shananagans5 10 лет назад +6

      Yea they do. You can nitpick who owns who nowadays but cars made in Britain for Brits are perfect for twisty narrow little roads. They make what is fun, comfortable & well suited the the roads it's going to be on most. In America we make big cars suited for wide roads & long highway road trips.
      A Mustang is a real hassle to drive on a narrow winding road but it will go in a straight line & it's quite comfortable to hop in & drive 500 miles on the freeway. The little British car will eat up that little winding road but boy are little British cars uncomfortable on a long road trip.
      We make what suits us. You can't bash a little Lotus or other British car for being uncomfy on a road trip. They don't use them for that. You can't bash the Mustang for looking like a pregnant cow trying to go down a flight of stairs when it's on a narrow twisty road. We don't use then for that.

      +twinscroll turbo James Martin talks about his Lotus Evora 400 and why Lotus decided to go for the Camry Engine. Reliability, ease of maintenance, reasonable parts prices and high cost of developing their own engines, coupled with the fact that using a Toyota engine gave them more money to spend on the chassis and interior. Matt Farrahs' review of the Evora 400 seems to justify their decision.
